I was chosen for this programme after six rounds of evaluation.
Initially, I assumed that this would be like traditional classroom learning, with PPTs and all, but I was wrong. We gained experience through doing. It was a two-month training session. We learned about Java and Git for the first two weeks by performing little coding assignments.
Following that, Bootcamp projects began, with a project every week in which the prograd mentors acted as real clients for us and gave us the criteria. Prograd mentors were always available to inspire us and answer our difficulties throughout the process.
In addition to this, every week there were organized tech-talks and Pecha Kucha. We trainees were given presentations on any technical topic during tech-talks. In Pecha Kucha, we discussed various societal issues that exist in India. This discourse gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to speak. They also took weekly soft skill training, which helped me enhance my communication and personality.

Before signing up, I was torn between this bootcamp and another one also in Barcelona. I interviewed with both (the application process was a bit different) and got accepted into both, so the time for me to choose arrived. Curriculum-wise, I had previously heard of JavaScript and had started its introduction course on Codecademy, but I had barely heard of Ruby (the computational language taught in the other bootcamp), so I was already more inclined to choose CodeOp. However, this was not the main reason why I decided to join them.
Firstly, I was in contact with alumni from both bootcamps: everyone who graduated from CodeOp was someone I would like to work with, super nice, and explained everything in great detail; also, I could see myself being like them, and there was a diverse representation. I also felt the sense of community I would later be a part of. At some point, I connected on LinkedIn with an old alumna from CodeOp who completed the bootcamp online from the other side of the world; when I thanked her for reposting my first project, she said (and I quote): "I try to help out as much as I can with exposure for the students at CodeOp within my international network. I've been there and want to give back to the community that got me to where I am now. It's a beautiful community, and I'm so happy to hear they continue to nurture this type of environment for people who are trying to switch careers."
The experience with people from the other bootcamp was not as pleasant; they were mostly all men (so it was hard for me to see myself represented), and I felt mansplained at some points. Also, even they were telling me I should find a bootcamp that teaches JavaScript instead of Ruby. I was about to make a huge financial effort, and that was the point at which I decided on the community I wanted to be a part of and the language I wanted to learn.
During my first days in the bootcamp, I realized I had made the right decision for me. I learned so much in such a short amount of time, and I think this is also thanks to being in such a supportive and safe environment. I got to spend every day with people who have gone through similar situations to the ones I've experienced, people who understood me. And I'm not only talking about my cohort, but also the instructors, employees, and CodeOp's CEO, Katrina. I also experienced significant personal and professional growth; I honestly feel like a different Maria from the one who started the bootcamp on July 3rd.
I can only encourage you to choose CodeOp if you're considering entering the tech field. I decided to join the boot camp because I wanted a career that I could be proud of and that would allow more flexibility in my schedule.
During the boot camp, I had to grow parts of my brain that had never been used before. I had to work most nights and weekends, and sometimes I was exhausted.
But on the flip side, I got to play with creative solutions, make “art” in my designs, and make new friends. I also learned a ton (zero to developer).
Also, my instructor was amazing- so patient and helpful, and he went far and above his required time to push us through to the end.
Most importantly, I got to show myself and my daughter that you can do anything you set your mind to, and that hard work pays off. She and I both had to sacrifice during these 6 months, but it was worth it to show her what dedication looks like.

I had the fortune of having a great instructor, who has been on the field for so long. He taught me, more than just what any article in cybersecurity. He taught me how to optimize my computer to work at the most optimal level. He taught me how to do more set up a "simple network", he also taught us ways to make it secure. The labs we have gave us all a hands on experience. When I completed it, the career services helped me find a job, and when I entered the job force, I stuck out from the rest of new hires I was with. The skills I learned where more than I needed to just get started in IT. Eventually, after working at my first job out of Kable Academy, I was offered a job as a TA at Kable Academy. After working for a few years as a TA, I was promoted as an instructor and also the head of IT Support at the school. Choosing to go into this field, and going to Kable Academy, was honestly the best decision I have ever made.

The support staff is also incredible, from to bottom the entire staff is always available to offer whatever support you need. One of the things that made me feel compelled to write this review, is that during my cohort I face some rather tough personal challenges. Still, I never felt that additional stress because it was obvious I had the full support of Tech Elevator. Overall, awesome experience and great confidence builder as you jump into your new Software career.

I retired as a classical ballet dancer after 20 years and decided to completely change my field of study, which required a tremendous emotional storm. However, through methodical study and measured approach, I always stayed present and never got ahead of my own thoughts.
I enjoyed every single challenge, but the biggest one is working accurately in such a short time. A three-hour class may seem long, but I assure you, it's not enough time. You need to always work ahead.
My humble advice to other students: if you are going to do the bootcamp, I can tell you, it is worth the time and effort. There is so much infrastructure around that will help you succeed, but you have to be willing to put in the hours (and endure some mental strain). As a retired ballet dancer who was used to moving and exercising for over 8 hours a day, in terms of mental effort, this bootcamp was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life: and I would do it again if I had to.
