Read MoreA former researcher in neuroimaging, I had previous experience with coding in MATLAB and analyzing neural data but I was lacking expertise with more general databases in non-research specific domains and knowledge in Python, which is mostly required in data science jobs. Therefore, I joined Le Wagon to get a certified training and a more intensive hands-on experience. I had done summer schools before in an academic context, but this bootcamp exceeded my expectations: the course was tailored for all levels of education and different backgrounds and would lead you progressively but fast from the general theory to very specific use cases. Numerous Teaching Assistants were available all day for the students providing help and support with the coding exercises and all the classes were up to date on the latest recent AI development. Lots of social networking and professional events were organized during the weeks of the bootcamp and overall the format was fun and engaging. I totally recommend it for a top-notch professional reconversion and an extremely gratifying human experience!... Read LessApp Academy

Everyone who makes it through is well prepared for a modern software engineering role with the latest frameworks etc. The curriculum is up-to-date, so that is an advantage for bootcamp grads.
But I was most impressed with the support after graduation. They keep students on track and guide you in the job search process with workshops, projects, strategies, and partnerships. Post-grad is just as rigorous as the bootcamp itself. They are motivated to support you post-graduation, unlike any other academic institution I've been involved with.I got a software engineering job within 3 months of graduating.General Assembly

Read MoreI participated in the Backend Engineering program with Turing and had a fantastic experience. The instructors throughout the entire program were excellent - knowledgable, supportive, and kind. The curriculum was great, and notably more comprehensive than what other schools offer. There's a real focus on building not just the technical knowledge of web app creation, but also the familiarity with industry tools and practices - specifically working collaboratively on group projects using GitHub, writing tests for your code from day one, setting up continuous integration tools, and more. In addition to this technical curriculum, the career development curriculum is great. Students are given exposure to what it actually looks like to be a professional developer, access to networks even beyond the Turing alumni community, and 1:1 support from the career team. Finally, and most uniquely, Turing offers an additional layer to their curriculum that focuses on inclusivity, identity, and what it means to be a good teammate. Read MoreI came to this review site before quitting my job and doing this bootcamp, so I thought it would be nice to come full circle and leave a review after starting my career in tech. Overall, the bootcamp is great - you learn a lot in a short amount of time. I would recommend a bootcamp if you are in a hurry to change careers. That being said, LHL is not responsible for the overarching job market / economic climate. When I graduated every tech giant was doing mass layoffs. Bear that in mind before making a decision. Nothing is guaranteed. After a total of 8 months (which includes 3months of bootcamp) i finally landed a junior dev role. And I was lucky. That being said, the support from career services was good. They help where they can. If I were to use an analogy: they are a passenger in the car you are driving. Is it worth the money? I'm not sure. Overall, if you are passionate about tech and want to start your career, give it a go. Life is too short.
For curriculum I would prefer not spending a week on Ruby. I think the curriculum would be better served with an extra week with React or learning Typescript. Pivoting out of Javascript for a week didn't feel worth it to me. On top of that none of the TAs who picked up my request-tickets knew the language. The only fringe benefit of the Ruby week was that it was nice to see the MVC approach.Launch School

Read MoreLaunch School is an online program for studious beginners whose goal is to become professional developers. The program focuses on fundamentals of programming and software engineering including core problem solving, programming language fundamentals, object-oriented programming, networking, databases, and guides students through a structured path of building up proficiency in software development. The program consists of two main phases: Core Curriculum and Capstone. The Core Curriculum uses a mastery-based learning pedagogy to teach fundamentals of software development. It takes approximately 1200-1800 hours (8-16+ months) to complete, and students can choose either a Ruby or JavaScript focused track through Core. After that, there is an optional and admissions-based Capstone Program that's focused on helping students acquire career-launching opportunities. online resources. I was working full-time, and my efforts up to that point had not been too
successful. But the moment I started reading Launch School materials was the moment my
studies started building towards something bigger. “This process will take longer than you
want it to, but if you take your time and do things the right way, it will be worth it.” It was a
message I didn’t really want to hear after I had already put a year into the effort, but a
message I knew that I needed to hear anyway. No other course I had tried was stating this
truth so clearly and honestly. I knew up front that the first two or three months of Launch
School would cover material that I already knew well, and I would feel a bit frustrated at
first about “starting over”. Nevertheless, I jumped in right away, with the realistic
expectation that it might take another two years or more before I could accept a job offer.
Friends and family were incredulous when I shared my excitement about this program, but
there was no reason for me not to be hopeful. The pedagogy–starting from the ground up,
building mastery of fundamentals, verifying the knowledge of students before allowing
them to continue, and slowly building confidence through that verification–made all the
sense in the world to me. And Launch School had the results to back up their claims, not only
with numbers, but with real people. Engineers with credentials, people who had been
through the process and were now working for amazing companies, were hanging around
in the chat channels, answering questions and talking about their work. I trusted the
process from the beginning because I was convinced that everything about Launch School
was genuine.
To make a long story short, the process worked. The Core Curriculum taught me the
fundamental concepts I needed, and at my own part-time pace. Capstone extended and
integrated that knowledge by cultivating it in a dedicated, full-time, team-based
environment. Working every day with other students, and with program graduates as
mentors, I was able to learn interviewing skills and contribute to the development of an
amazing product. I began to feel proficient. Capstone prepared me so well for the hiring
process that, once I finally started interviewing, I was full of confidence, and there were no
surprises. I knew I belonged in those hiring pools because Capstone had given me the
preparation I needed.
After finishing Capstone, I secured a job as a Senior Software Engineer within six weeks,
with essentially the Capstone average salary–a higher salary that I had originally hoped for.
Now it’s been a year since I graduated. I’m at a company where I love to work, and I’m able
to jump into any task or project that interests me and find my way thanks to my strong
background in the fundamentals. I work at a company that supports continuing education,
gives me a voice in what projects I work on, and has a clear path to promotion and career
development. My family is able to buy a new house. And honestly, this is all thanks to Launch
School. I was nowhere close to making this kind of progress after a year of self-study. But
after less than two years in Launch School, I had everything that I needed to get a great job
as an engineer and build a lifelong career. The same has been true for many others, and I
would recommend Launch School, the Core Curriculum and Capstone, as an excellent
choice for anyone who is interested in starting a career in software engineering.Craft Academy

I believe in big "classrooms" it's hard to focus on each student, with Craft Academy you'll get direct help from the coaches and you won't feel abandoned.
The time span is short, but a lot is learnt and you're pushed further your limits, to the point you won't believe how much you were able to learn. Of course the main drive will be your passion for coding and your hard work. Without it, you will not be able to take the most out of any bootcamp.
You will struggle, you will may feel lost at times, but struggle will make you grow. If you'll find yourself in a dead end, the coaches will guide you towards the right way.
Here you are taught the agile methodologies, pair programming, Test Driven Development... A lot of things I never heard before. You're thrown into an agile environment, you'll collaborate with your team mates in order to develop great applications. You'll inspire each other and your confidence as a developer will grow.
The bootcamp is provided with a Preparatory course, which will be crucial for you to learn the basics before getting started.
My advice is to not underestimate the Preparatory course and start working hard from the start. 12 weeks will fly, and if you solidify the basics you'll have a better experience through the bootcamp.
Changing your career is possible. It's up to us doing the hard work and make it happen. With the right guide, like this bootcamp, we can achieve our dreams. My dream is to evolve my career in software development and make a living out of it.Microverse

Every week they assign us a real-life project and a coding team with a dateline strictly to be followed. This has made us better at communication skills while building up all of our technical knowledge. The strict dateline they give us forces us to plan ahead and improve our time management skills.
Joining the software development program at Microverse has been the best decision I have made in my career. They do not just teach you how to code but also help you become marketable in the job market. Plus, you don’t have to pay anything until you get a job!
Thank you Microverse!

Read MoreI graduated the CodeCore bootcamp in August and I feel confident saying it was the best educational experience I’ve ever had. I have previously received a Bachelor’s degree in business and began learning on my own over a year ago. I joined CodeCore because I found the complete full stack difficult to learn on my own. I wanted more hands on training and to be able to code with a group (as you would on a job) and to get more feedback and code review.
It was hard work, and I really loved how much there was to learn and how quickly I could take it in thanks to the bootcamp format. Instruction took place in the morning then we did labs to practice during the afternoon. Homework and exams helped further cement knowledge and build confidence. The quality of the teaching was excellent - Steve and Tam are great instructors with valuable industry knowledge. And the TAs are excellent - friendly, highly skilled and helpful.
I’m getting ready to start my first position as a full stack dev and I’m beyond excited. Advice I would give if you’re thinking of joining CodeCore is work hard, take it seriously, ask for help when you need it., and maximize your potential learning by practicing the basics as much as possible before starting. They really want you to succeed and will do everything to help you learn and prepare for jobs afterward. There’s a good reason past grads regularly keep in touch with CodeCore: CodeCore builds community and values its alumni and students.

Read MoreMy thoughts about my time at Launch Academy. I thought the experience was great overall. This course was taken during the pandemic so it was mostly done online. There was an option to go in the classroom but it was the middle of winter and leaving the house didn't seem as appealing. All of the instructors were great. They did a good job of explaining the concepts and helping you if you needed it. You will not be spoon-fed information. There is a level of expectation for you to put in some work so be prepared to spend some of your own time to figure things out. Make sure you go into the program with a good basic foundation (html, css, javascript). We had a really good group within my cohort. Everyone was helpful and wanted to be better. I enjoyed my time at Launch Academy and will never forget the experience.... Read LessGrand Circus
