Read MoreDuring this week's lecture, we delved into various topics, including a thorough review of React Router and in-depth discussions on complex subjects like implementing authentication with JSON Web Tokens, secure password hashing techniques, and establishing the connection between the client and server. Additionally, we embarked on our ambitious project for this bootcamp: crafting a full-stack Reddit clone using Express, React, Node.js, and CockroachDB. As for my approach, I decided to tackle the backend components first.
The insights from the previous week, particularly regarding security considerations and the practical usage of packages like bcrypt for password hashing, proved immensely valuable.
Our breakout rooms served as creative hubs where we brainstormed ideas, socialized, and meticulously planned out the details of our respective projects.
The majority of my time this week was dedicated to a deep dive into the prework material. I invested substantial effort in understanding how schemas function and meticulously mapping out the overall structure and flow of the clone I'm developing. Excitement is building for what's to come in the following week!PunchCode

The instructor, Thomas, is nothing short of amazing. Not only is he a wizard when it comes to programming, but he actually knows how to teach it as well. Before PunchCode I took some online courses and watched a lot of YouTube tutorials, but nothing compared to the way Thomas teaches. I was extremely impressed with his ability to simplify such complex topics and make it easy for complete beginners to understand. He excels in his ability to read and understand each student's code (and trust me there was some very messy code written by us). He can jump inside the mind of each student and fully understand their thought process, which allows him to explain things to them in the best way. I don't know how he does it, but he was always able to answer every single question that we had for him in such an easy to understand way. My coding skills are light years ahead of where they were before I started PunchCode, and I can attribute all of that to Thomas.
Don't let me forget about the assistant instructor, Teya. Teya is such a fun and amazing person, and she really cares about all of her students. She goes out of her way to personally connect with each student, making everyone feel very welcome. PunchCode has a very intense and high-paced curriculum which can be very stressful and affect your mental health. But Teya was always there for us to pick us back up and bring out the best in us. She was there for us when whenever we had any coding-related questions too, and it was aways nice to get a different perspective on how to do things. Her organizational skills are also top-notch. She made sure to always keep us updated with everything we needed to know, and it was because of her that such an intense course was able to run so smoothly. I feel like everything would've been so chaotic without her. When we graduated, she made us a very well thought out and thorough Notion doc with every resource that we needed to be successful after PunchCode.
I would highly recommend PunchCode to anyone wanting to level up their coding skills and break into the industry. At first I was on the fence as to whether I should attend a bootcamp or just try to learn everything by myself online, but I can tell you that it was 100% worth it choosing PunchCode.W3Schools

Read MoreI was one of Code Career Academy's first full time students. I had previously been exposed to programming through college. I quickly realized that college was lacking the hands on approach that I wanted. The solution to my problem was Code Career Academy. Their head instructor, Jeff Ammons, is the most knowledge programming teacher I know. The course was properly structured so students had enough time to learn a concept and go hands on. No matter your skill level, Jeff has the ability of adapting to you. Jeff Ammons never lacked an answer to any of my programming questions. He not only answered my questions, he also explained “why”.
After completing the course, it was up to me to use all the skills learned at Code Career Academy. No school or person can guarantee you a job, so it is up to each student to set their own path. I chose to pursue freelance web development, as I searched and interviewed for different development companies. Jeff was very helpful with my job searching. After two months of applying and interviewing for jobs, I landed my first .NET software developer position. I can honestly say I made the perfect choice by choosing Code Career Academy.

Not only do they take everybody in mind ( from people with no experience to people with a lot of experience) but they also are just really there to provide you with industry knowledge to get you out in the job market. As an international student I was hesitant at first thinking about the whole paper work I would have to fill in but Tom my DSO and Anthony helped me every step of the way not only did they guide me through the process but once the course started were they available pretty much to answer any of my concerns. Then talking about the teachers they all come from various backgrounds in the industry and have so much knowledge about the industry standards that it is often so interesting to hear them explain concepts and see how they approach problems (shout out to my teachers Rashaan and Kelvin they really thought me so much). This doesn't take away from the fact that you will always have to put in the work to learn the concepts you see in class and to review and I guess 'do your homework'. If you are hesitant about joining a course or bootcamp then don't cause like I said code Immersives provides so much more then that. If you’re looking to improve your software engineering skills, regardless of your background. I attended this school online a year ago and have only great things to say about my experience.
The teachers are amazing, tolerant, motivated, and cheerful. The learning process is smooth and fun, you have the space to ask your questions and participate as well.
They offer the opportunity to learn online in a professional way in many fields and take care of enhancing your soft skills through various career services. But what is most important is that they prepare you for the practical world by realizing projects and presenting them, which was the best and the most interesting part of the Bootcamp.
I was honored to be with such incredible people like them, and I hope I'll have the chance to work with them soon.

My discovery of the academy was little different than the curiosity of a product that leads to investigating it. I was simply browsing Instagram those three years ago when, of all the ads I could have seen, I saw one for IGA. I took a chance to look into it deeper and booked a call with the man I'm grateful and honored to call friend today. He told me about his mission to bring the joys and guide rising talent through the mystic maze that is Game Development as a career. I expressed my wanting to "live to create" and enrich people's lives through what I could build.
After he gave me a chance and I was admitted to my first cohort, the 2021 Fall IGA Level 3 Cohort, it was a joyous experience I fondly recollect to this day. I and many others were assorted into "House" teams as the theme of the program shared resemblance with the wizarding houses of Harry Potter and the classes of medieval fantasy Roleplaying games. Through a 3 month process of collaboration, ticket management, feature prioritizing and triaging, publishing steps, and a great presentation to a panel of Game Developers employed under major development studios we of House Rogues made and published to the Google Play store our game, RoStation!
Following that Cohort I was given an invitation to return again for the 2022 Fall IGA Level 3 Cohort, but as a Project Manager instead of a Programmer. During my time there I collaborated with a team of 3 wonderful people including myself. It gave me a great deal of perspective of what happens on the "other side" of the team and humbled me to better respect how my Project Manager helped me and our team during my former cohort. With our combined efforts, inspirations, and great talent House Rogues once again designed, built, marketed and published Rise N' Grind! An adventure platformer with a coffee barista theme.
All this to say, if you're looking to make a career investment for yourself and want to share your creativity, passion and grit for Game Dev with many like-minded students, then look no further than the Indie Game Academy! XR Terra

Read MoreI never imagined a year ago I would be pursuing a career in software development. At my previous place of employment I noticed I would get very frustrated at the UI/UX and overall software that was used. I noticed the issues it caused our customers as well. Once I connected the dots and found my passion, I started researching for bootcamps in software development. MSU's Online Coding Bootcamp really caught my eye. It was a very flexible course that allowed me to continue working and provide for my family. In addition to the attention in providing up-to-date technologies and languages to learn, great instructional staff, and career support - it was a no brainer! I am so happy with my decision to attend.... Read MoreTLDR: This course is a fantastic investment. You will learn what you need to know in order to get hired as a junior dev immediately upon graduation, as long as you are appying yourself.
The long verison:
I was in the most recent cohort, Jan 2018-April 2018. I had an excellent experience. Trip and Tom are awesome teachers. Trip was our main instructor and he is REALLY fantastic at explaining difficult concepts, and clearly puts a great deal of thought into how he delivers information in order for the students to understand it best. It's pretty incredible how quickly they get you up and running, and in a lasting way - you aren't simply memorizing, you're really, truly learning.
By then end of the course, you will have the skills you need to be a junior full stack developer. I had no prior javascript knowledge going into the course, and before the course ended I accepted a job offer as a junior React developer here in Charleston. I'm in my first few weeks of the job now and it's going really well - I feel like I was well prepared, and my employers are surprised at how much I know already.
Like any course, or really anything in life, you do need to apply yourself. Trip and Tom will point you toward the right door, maybe even turn the handle a bit for you, but you have to push the door open and walk through it yourself if you want to get the most out of the course (as it should be). They are encouraging of this and they create a really positive learning environment. Trip is especially sensitive to the emotional dynamic of the class, which I really appreicated - he is empathetic to the frustration that comes with learning and does his best to keep everyone positive and in good spirits even through the toughest parts of the course.
Scool-life-balance: In the beginning there is not any homework. Any extracurriculars you do are up to you. I probably spent one night a week studying after hours to hammer in some concepts, which I'd recommend doing as a bare minimum. Once you get into the last 3 or 4 weeks of the course, you will be doing a good deal of work after hours to finish your final project. I know some folks had part time jobs outside of class, and if you have to do that you can pull it off - BUT, if you are forutnate enough to not have to work while in the course, I'd really recommend not working and just focusing on your studies.
This is all to say: this course ROCKS and is well worth the time and money. If you're trying to change careers, this is a really fantastic way to do it. By the time our cohort graduated, half the class either already had jobs or were pretty far along in the interview process. JRS rules!!!!!!!

Read MoreI completed Coyotiv's 13-week full-stack software engineering bootcamp in February 2023, starting as a complete beginner. I can't express how grateful I am for this transformative experience. It not only equipped me with the skills I needed but also led to my first job as a software engineer. From day one, I was impressed by the comprehensive curriculum that covered everything from frontend development with technologies like Node.js, Vue to backend technologies including MongoDB, and more. I also appreciated the emphasis on Agile and Lean development, CI/CD tools like Docker and the exploration of SOLID principles, UML diagrams, design patterns, and testing and more. One of the standout aspects of Coyotiv's program was the opportunity to work on real projects, where I had the freedom to choose and develop a project from scratch. Being responsible for both frontend and backend development in a project of my own creation allowed me to apply what I learned in the class to real-world situations, enhancing my problem-solving skills and giving me a taste of what it's like to work as a professional software engineer. The career-building sessions not only equipped me with the skills I needed but also taught me how to search and secure a job effectively. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and always willing to help. In particular, I have to give a special shout-out to Armagan, who was an exceptional teacher. His teaching style and dedication were instrumental in my learning journey. The community here is incredible, and as a bootcamp graduate, I now have lifetime access not only to the community but also to the course videos, allowing me to revisit the valuable content whenever I need it.Thanks to the skills and knowledge I gained at Coyotiv, I was able to secure my very first job as a software engineer despite starting as a beginner. If you're considering a career in software engineering or want to level up your existing skills, Coyotiv is the right place to be. I can't recommend it enough.Thank you Coyotiv, for an amazing journey!...
