Working for a tech startup without much exposure to either disciplines, I found both courses so incredibly helpful in learning more about the foundation and frameworks for each one. The Cybersecurity course added immediate value to my role at work and even my personal life. It had me do a lot of self reflection. The Machine Learning course was little more challenging, and there were many foreign topics that I never even knew existed. - The tuition cost is very reasonable and they offer Flexible payment options.
- The class size is small which allows the instructor to help students during or after class times.
- The schedule is very relaxed and designed for people with busy lives.
- The course is beneficial for all experience levels. You will learn C Sharp (C#) through the course while learning how programming concepts are applied in real world scenarios/ industry.
- After the course they offer career counseling.
They really want you to get a job in whichever industry you choose! Another benefit of the smaller size of this school is they do well if you do well.
Full Review:
There are a couple programs out there that might help cover tuition if you qualify and the school offers reasonable financing options. I had spoken to one of their recruiters before signing up and was able to work out options best suited to my financial situation with their senior leadership. They have some information about their financing options on their website, but if the cost of tuition is the only hurdle you see then be open with them and talk it out. They absolutely want to help people who honestly wish to help themselves.
Skillspire is a small institution focused on getting people into the tech industry. Their size allows them to help you in the right capacity needed for your situation. They have more freedom to accommodate their students on a personal basis.
Are you a nervous test taker or stress over due dates? NO WORRIES HERE! You won't take a single exam and due dates are very flexible. The course was designed to be no stress/low pressure for the students. The grading structure is very relaxed as well. Turn in your assignment and get the points.
Concerned you won't be able to find the time to participate?
I live on the East Coast and they're based in Seattle, WA. That's a 3 hour time difference. Wednesday classes were late for my time zone but if I couldn't make it to class the instructor sent a link to the recording of the class. They're understanding and lenient on attendance.
You will not pass/fail based on attendance or grades. You are responsible for learning the material just like any other learning institution but they will pull all the stops to make sure you can learn what they're teaching. You get out of this course exactly what you put in. When I went through the course we didn't have our first official homework assignment until just before half way through the 20 weeks. Personally I recommend using an additional resource to practice what you learn between classes. I was brand new to all the material and I felt I needed it and the extra practice helped.
Worried you're computer skills are outdated?
For me, I was a fairly new to programming and didn't have a language I already knew. I had dabbled in C++ in the early 2000's and I liked it. I can't say I put much effort in staying current in tech since that time. When I was looking into this course I wasn't even familiar with Window OS's post Windows XP. I used computers at work that ran Windows 7 - 10 but I only used them for very basic tasks. Upon signing up for the course I had to get myself a proper laptop but I was definitely overdue. ; )
My point is, I barely had a hobby remotely related to tech before I took this course and I didn't struggle due to that. I had played around with some Linux distros on an ARM device (Raspberry Pi 3B+) I purchased on a whim a few years ago but it wasn't even operational when I committed myself to taking the course. I was absolutely a novice.
I just recently finished the course and I'm excited to see where I end up from here.- 3Reviews12CourseseuroTech Study offers part-time programs in cybersecurity (36 weeks), Android mobile app development (36 weeks), software development engineer in test (30 we... Read MoreOverall, this course was a success for me. When I initially joined this course, I wasn't specifically looking for a new job, I was already in the software industry earning a lot of money in Silicon Valley, and I simply wanted to maintain my skill so it is not obsolete. However, as the course progressed and my goals changed, I came to take advantage of their career couching services, which actually made a huge difference in my trajectory.
This course is a serious course and I would recommend you join only if you have experience in software engineering already. While it s not necessary, a lot of the deeper topic will go over your head. Also, the learning outcome is absolutely dependent on how much time you spent on it, you can't expect to pay $10k and buy your way into an expert, this is a legit course and everything will have to be learned legitimately over time.
Some advice to new students:- Write notes continuously or you won't learn anything.
- Use your mentor to keep you on-track, motivate you, and unstuck you.
- Pick a capstone project topic you are actually care about so you won't get bored of it.
- Follow career guidance advice to the tee, it's good advice even if you think it's silly.
- Use your high tuition cost as a motivation to finish sooner.
- And the most important one: you learn only as much as the effort you put into it!
What you need to know before joining / things the course could improve on:- Course material could be ordered better, I had to go back and forth between different chapters to understand certain topics. Notes also helps.
- All their materials can be found online for free, which in my opinion was not a major problem, however the sections that were behind paywall were definitely a problem for me. I hope they eventually replace them with free ones.
- The course is expensive, don't go into it expecting a miracle just because you paid a lot of money. You are still responsible for yourself, but the course will help.
Course outcome: I was doing about 10 interviews per week before the course ended, and I had 2 job offers both above $200k right after graduation. I am currently the lead architect on a high caliber ML project with direct reporting ( I actually didn't even ask for this ). The course paid for itself. I would recommend. Umuzi Academy

Before I started Adelaide University's Coding Boot-camp, I was a professional hairstylist for 8 years. I enjoyed the Job, but disliked the work environment, and realized there was a ceiling on this career both monetarily and in opportunities. During my third lock down (due to Covid-19) I decided I should pursue something I enjoy and have a passion for. I knew that University wasn't for me, as each course included subjects I thought were unnecessary or not in my interest, and it would have to give up working hours which financially I couldn't do. I then saw a an Ad for the Boot-camp. This piqued my interest.
I clicked the Ad and this was the beginning of a new pathway for me. I sent my information off and quickly received a call from a representative whom told me about the course and answered my questions. 4 things stood out to me. The course was 6 months long, which was a lot less intimidating than a full 4 year Uni degree. The classes were held in the evening after work, which meant I wouldn't have to give up any work hours. The course was online. Due to the spicy cough, classes were held online, which meant I didn't have to travel to the city to attend. Finally the course was affordable. I was given multiple payment options in which to choose from, to fit my situation. All of this helped me make the decision. I knew that if I signed up, I would be locking myself in to 6 months of intense work and study. I wanted to maintain working full time, 38 hour weeks, however the boot-camp recommended at least 20 hours of personal study every week. This meant I would be working all day, attending the boot-camp at night, and studying in any free time I had spare. Now even though I would be trading my time for the course, it was an easy decision. I had a passion for development and wanted to see it through. The Course
Starting the course I was excited and nervous, but they made the induction process smooth. I received a checklist of things to do before the course began to get myself ready. This included setting up my machine and installing the needed applications, and signing up for the necessary websites. This was all very easy and straight forward. The first day we met our Instructor and our TA, both of whom were excited to meet everyone and very welcoming. From then we started into the topics and participated in activities, working along side our class mates. Every week we ended with an assignment that used all the information from the topic we had just studied, so the information was fresh in our minds, and easy to go back to if we needed a refresher. Some project assignments were done in groups so we could get a taste of what it's like in a team-based, real world environment. As the weeks went on, stress levels went up and down as I struggled with topics I wasn't as confident on, or powered through assignments, the end drew near.
About six weeks before the end of the course. I received a phone call. It was from a hiring manager offering me a Developer position! I was blown away and ecstatic. My dream was slowly fading into reality. I interviewed and 4 weeks later was at the desk of my new job. 1 week after that, I graduated the boot-camp ready to explore my new doors and opportunities as they show themselves.
If you are thinking of joining a boot camp because you are thinking it's short and easy. Then this isn't for you. If you are looking at this course because you are passionate but don't think the full University experience is for you, this is a good supplement. You still have to apply and study, and it can be hard working a full time job, and studying almost just as much but if you have the drive it is possible, and you might even start a new career from it. - 3Reviews1CourseEmerson College Boot Camps offer a 24-week, part-time, data analytics course. Read MoreI’ve always had a passion for computers and learning new things. I’m always trying to figure out how things work and how things were created, so the idea of pursuing a career in web development was a no-brainer for me. I had spent a year trying to teach coding to myself with online resources and books, but I felt like I was spinning my wheels and I wasn't going anywhere. Having a full-time job, I wasn't able to commit myself to a four-year degree. So I started looking into where I should go from there and came across the idea of bootcamps. After much searching I came across the Butler University coding program. I liked that the program was run by Butler, so I would be able to put the Butler name on my resume when I graduated. I felt that this program was exactly what I needed to move forward and make my dream of a new career a reality. My experience with this program has been incredible. I have learned so much that I can't believe where I started from. My teacher has been amazing about explaining the material and helping me figure out where I'm stuck. I will admit it can be very challenging, but it gets easier with time.If I were to give any advice to a prospective student, it would be to trust yourself and take the plunge. It will be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do, but it will be so worth it when you get to the end and can see the progress you have made. Also, never be afraid to ask for help. That's what the Butler team is there for—to help you, whether it's asking your teacher during office hours, getting a tutor, or even asking a fellow student. Whether you're looking to change careers or just learn a new skill, you won't be sorry you chose Butler University.

Learning Support:
5/5 - There is literally always someone available to answer your questions, you just need to ask. The 24/7 learning team on slack was imperative when I was doing homework assignments, the tutoring with Lucas allowed me to go more in depth on difficult concepts, and then my favorite was definitely the office hours so I could spend time with other students, the professor, and TA to ask questions but also just connect. You will do well, if you first try to solve the problem yourself, if that path doesn't work, ask for help.
Instructor:
10/5 - My professor (3/1/22 - 8/18/22) was the best professor I've ever had in my educational background, his patience, knowledge and positive attitude made the classroom environment super open and allowed the space to ask questions. He would do check-ins probably like 15 times a class at least to see if anyone was struggling.
Career Support:
5/5 - I would STRONGLY urge anyone considering this course to start their career materials/milestones as soon as possible, I started around week 4 or 5 of the 6 month program and I am very glad I did. The bootcamp is most rigorous during the middle two months that is focused on Machine Learning and I felt relief knowing that I was up to date on my resume, linked in, github, etc. and just had to do finishing touches. There is literally too many career resources - in the best way possible. There is at least 1 event every single day Monday - Thursday for networking, learning, recruiting, you name it that you can attend. There are job boards with 250 companies that they partner with. I'm finishing my program today and I know that the career team usually stays with students for 90 days after completion of the course so that you have that cushion of support. AMAZING!
Curriculum:
4/5 - My favorite component of this course was the interactivity and live activities you could work on during class, the only real downside I have was the last week of learning decentralized apps (d'apps), all the activities were done by the instructor so we didn't get to really interact that much and I felt my absorption was not great that week. Other than that HOLY COW I cant believe how fun it was to learn API's, Machine learning, basic data manipulation / exploration, Cryptography and smart contracts. I feel this curriculum is very up to date and prepares you for the workplace. The only other thing is, we spent 1 week on SQL and it just felt very cursory - so many jobs are requesting experience in this so 2 weeks would have been great to focus on it personally.
Things I would change: Honestly, almost nothing. It was the best education of my life - it was stressful, exciting, and amazing. I genuinely wish there was a week long break in the middle of the course, because 6 months straight led to pretty severe burnout by week 23, having a break resets everything. However, I knew going into this it would be rigorous, just a few days off would have made a big difference.
