Review: Nucamp Bootcamp Experience

I decided to enroll in Nucamp because I wanted to transition into a tech career & It was definitely the right decision for me! The curriculum is well-structured, and the instructors are knowledgeable and supportive. The combination of self-paced learning and interactive workshops made it easy to grasp new concepts and apply them through hands-on projects.

One of the highlights of the bootcamp was the sense of community. The active online forums allowed me to connect with my peers and instructors, making the learning experience more engaging and enjoyable.

After completing the bootcamp, my goal is to continue growing as a developer and eventually specialize in front-end development. Nucamp has set a strong foundation for my career in tech, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes me!

I signed up for Springboard's Data Science program and it was definitely the best career-related decision I've made in many years. I've had an interest in Data Science and AI-related topics for a while, but was never quite sure how I would go about preparing myself for the field. I had taken some smaller individual courses, which helped, but I felt I need more.

Springboard emerged as the best all-around solution for me. Their bootcamp is compact and dense (suggested 6-7 months), but trainees have the option to proceed at their own pace. The flexibility is invaluable, especially for folks who are working full-time and have other obligations. The curriculum was awesome and one of the strongest reasons for me in choosing this program. It covered so much - Data Science Method, Python programming, Data Visualization, Statistics, Machine Learning and AI, Big Data, etc. It also provided a ton of hands-on experience which really helped to build confidence in the material. All along the way, I was helped by the Springboard staff who were simply amazing! From my first call (an assessment of my suitability for the program) to my invaluable weekly mentor calls, career coaching calls, to my course completion emails and discussion, they have always been knowledgeable, super positive and done all they can to support my progress. I cannot recommend Springboard enough!

Hello everyone!
Before starting the bootcamp I was super scared that I wasn't going to be able to follow the classes and understand the content but it turned out to be way better in so many aspects than I could've ever imagined. From my fellow coleagues, to the professors and to the whole staff of Ironhack everyone helped each other out so much that made the whole bootcamp and the whole proccess of learning new things so much easier.
I want to give a special appreciation to Diogo Capitão, the PM on the Lisbon campus for making sure everyone had everything they needed and to attend to everyone's necessities makinhg sure everything went as smoothly as possaible.
On a last note I just want to say it was one of the best decisions I made recently and I highly reccoment it to everyone wanting to shift carreers to any of the bootcamps available.

Through the DS4A (Data Science for All) program I learned not only about how to process large data for informed decision-making but also had the chance to talk with top professionals who helped me build my communication and interview skills. I needed a shot, but the program gave me two. I recommend Correlation One to anyone looking to become a better data professional.

 Thinkful was so helpful and I believe it was the solid foundation and starting point of my software development journey. I enjoyed studying with them and I felt like it was thorough and the lessons were on point with relativity and being complete.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at GA. With 4 projects within 3 months, these were a good start to having a portfolio upon graduation. Naturally, that depended on your effort and diligence throughout the project duration. The pace was pretty fast with a project week after every two weeks of classes, but that served to stretch my learning capabilities. The course covers the basics of full-stack software development. There is definitely a lot more to learn in the tech industry, but it’s a good stepping stone for mid-career switchers.

Good curriculum that enforces students to study programming from the very fundamentals and gradually to a very challenging yet effective learning curve that grows students to experts in no time with great instructors.

The short version.
I believe that this course is good for complete beginners but it is too expensive for the value you get. That's in regards to the knowledge you come out of the program with and your chances of breaking into an engineering role, particularly in this economy. If you are going to go through with the course, I highly recommend taking only 1 stack (i.e., language). They're extremely similar and it's not possible to become proficient in multiple languages during the course's timeframe. Honestly, my biggest regret in this course was taking more than 1 stack.

The longer version.

Background. A bit background on me for comparison sake if it helps with your decision making. I've worked a bunch of corporate jobs from finance to consulting. I'm good at excel but was a complete beginner at coding. I started learning how to code on my own about 4 months prior to enrolling into the bootcamp. I ultimately decided to enroll because I wanted to accelerate my learning with the thought that the bootcamp would significantly decrease the amount of time it took me to get a job. I came in knowing that bootcamps in general are not a golden ticket into a software development role, and that ultimately, you get out what you put in.

Curriculum. I took two stacks, Python and MERN (Javascript). I definitely did learn a few things during the program. However, I was surprised to see a number of lessons in the curriculum were simply links to other sites. In fact, the very most I learned during the program was during the lesson on CSS and the curriculum was basically all links to lessons you could find for free, such as Flexbox Froggy. I do want to make it clear that you do learn the basics of programming from loops, data types and conditionals. You also come out of each stack being able to build a basic app, learning how to build the frontend, backend and connect the two. However, I knew most of the material already even though I had been learning how to code for 4 months prior, using free resources. There's definitely value of having structure and guidance (although Chat-GPT could fill that role) so if that's a reason why you want to join the program then that's a great decision too. Just please don't take more than 1 stack. I think MERN is the best because you learn react and that's a very popular frontend framework. The stacks are basically copies of each other and I didn't gain any additional value, but it was expensive. The bootcamp sells you on the importance of learning multiple languages but once you have the foundational knowledge of a language, it's all syntax from there. You're likely gonna forget the first stack's language nuances by the time you're done with the second stack anyways, and I think it's more important to show that you're proficient at coding through your projects. That becomes a lot easier when you stick to one language.

Teachers and Teacher Assistants. The bootcamp has multiple lectures weekly and also provides TA support throughout the afternoon / evening. I found both the teachers and TA's to be very nice and knowledgable about the curriculum. They're former students, which is definitely helping the bootcamps employment numbers. There are moments where it's still clear that the teachers and TA's learned coding fairly recently. As I mentioned in the curriculum section, you get taught the basics and if you need help with that level of knowledge, then the support is great. Step a little outside of that boundary and you don't get much support. I visited the TA's about a number of times during the course with questions that were just a step or two deeper into what was being taught in the curriculum and I genuinely can't remember a time when they answered my question. One TA even explained that it's a skill to be able to find an answer by myself, which is true but I'm also paying over $12K for you to help guide me. Chat-GPT became popular during my time in this course and I can confidently say that it has been so much more helpful than Coding Dojo.

Career Support. A big reason why I chose Coding Dojo was the lifetime career support. It sounds amazing and ultimately the reason why many people choose to join a bootcamp is to get a job. The people who you will work with are kind. I had a great experience interacting with them on a personal level, but they provided me with limited help. I didn't use all of their resources to be fair. I did use them for guidance on how to approach the job search, my resume, and review of my portfolio website. For guidance, it was very high level. For example, you should build out a portfolio website highlighting projects, get your resume together, and look at jobs on these sites. When I was talking to the sales rep, it seemed as if Coding Dojo had a lot more relationship or pipelines with companies looking to hire. However, at present there were no relationships like that. Part of that is the economy but it did not seem like there were many to begin with. For my resume and portfolio website, I just got a lot of praise or minor edits. If you come from a career path where you have experience writing a corporate resume then the career services in my opinion will not provide significant value. Especially if you also know where to look for jobs (BuiltIn, Wellfound, Y Combinator's website). These jobs aren't necessarily hard to find. However, if you're coming for less adjacent field then there is definitely value here. 

Conclusion. After going through a bootcamp, I understand all the comments about how bootcamp is not a golden ticket into a software development role. Yet, it can still be useful. The question is whether it is worth the cost. I say maybe, but only if it's for one stack. Also, I suggest part time if you can rather than full time because it's not going to be easy to break into engineering after this program. If you can be self-taught I would personally go that route, picking a project and then learning what it takes to build that project. In fact, that's exactly what I did and I've learned 5x more than I learned during the bootcamp. I even learned the most up-to-date popular technologies and frameworks, which the curriculum doesn't teach. Not that the curriculum is outdated, but it's also not completely up-to-date either.

My experience with Actualize was amazing. The instruction was clear and hands-on, and my instructor was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful. Classes felt like a mentorship more than a lecture; we worked through real problems, got constant feedback, and built projects that solidified what we learned. The program emphasizes problem-solving and practical skills, not just memorizing code, so I left feeling confident in my ability to tackle real-world development work. I would recommend Actualize to everyone, especially beginners and career-changers who want strong fundamentals and caring, experienced instructors.

This review is long overdue, but I can honestly say Codesmith changed my life. It didn’t just teach me software engineering, it taught me how to learn on my own and how to push past challenges. I also met some amazing people who made the journey even better.

If you are on the fence about it, my only advice is to go for it. It is completely worth it. Just know what you are signing up for. Codesmith does not babysit you. They give you the tools and the structure, but it is up to you to put in the work. They push you to step up, and that is exactly why you grow so much. It is the perfect mix of being hard enough to inspire you but never so hard that you want to quit.

When it comes to the curriculum, I graduated in November 2023, so I am sure some topics have shifted a little, probably more toward things like AI. But the way the course is structured is what makes it so powerful. In the first half you are getting new lectures every single day. It feels overwhelming and you might think you are not learning everything. Everyone feels that way. What you are really doing is collecting all the pieces of the puzzle. Then, when you hit the project stage, everything clicks. That is when your learning grows exponentially. I loved that stage and learned so much. It did not even hit me until I got my first job how prepared I really was. I realized I had skills that people already in the field were missing, like using the terminal and git properly. Trust the process because it works.

The job search stage was the hardest part for me. By that point I was already a little burnt out. But the great thing is Codesmith keeps supporting you even after you graduate. They offer resume reviews, interview prep, and career coaching. I had my resume reviewed twice and did four mock interviews. After my first mock interview with Alexander, one of the career coaches, I left with so many tips that every phone screen I had after that turned into a real interview. The support is there, you just have to take advantage of it.

Another part that surprised me was the community. I did not think it would matter much, but it ended up being one of the most important things. Your peers are the ones who help you through the tough moments, especially during the job search. I am also grateful to Eric who helped me negotiate my offers and guided me in the right direction.

Looking back, I would do it all over again. Codesmith gave me everything I needed to succeed and the support did not stop once the program ended. If you are serious about becoming a software engineer, this is the program to choose.

As a former computer science student in college, Flatiron will teach you things I never learned, or even expected to learn, in a coding bootcamp. Upon graduating, I became even more impressed with the overall experience when using the career services. I felt incredibly lost leading up to graduation when thinking about the job hunt because I had no experience in the corporate world. I was not switching careers, but still pursuing my original one. I now feel fully equipped with knowing lots of corporate etiquette and certain formulas and procedures you just have to follow for things. 

There were a couple downsides, and I'm hoping one was due to a unique situation. I dealt with instructor roulette due to layoffs and curriculum restructuring. Even though I was on the FLEX self-paced path, not having a static instructor the entire time was rough. The other is lack of focus on algorithmic, typical coding questions you will see in tech interviews. There is a curriculum for that post-grad, but I would have liked to learn more and be tested on them during my education. 

I came into TripleTen's BIA program with over 10 years of real operational and financial problem-solving experience, but I had never held an official analyst title. I knew how to diagnose problems and fix them and present solutions to leadership and stakeholders. What I didn't have was the format tech hiring managers expect to see, things like dashboards, key insight summaries, and structured data storytelling. That's exactly what the program gave me.

The bootcamp was my first real exposure to tools like Tableau and Power BI, and to concepts like maintaining a clean summary tab or a changes/bugs log. I had some SQL, programming and advanced Excel background going in, but I didn't lead with those. What actually shifted my trajectory was learning how to package analytical thinking the way the industry expects it packaged.

The career support was just as valuable as the technical training. The resume and LinkedIn revamp changed how I presented over a decade of results. I used to list responsibilities. Now every bullet leads with impact, dollars recovered, percentage improvements, systems that outlasted my time in a role. My career coach also added a lot in our review sessions, reading bullets out loud and reacting in real time gave me new ways of seeing my own experience that I hadn't considered on my own.

A few months after finishing the program, TripleTen connected me with an externship at an insurtech company. That hands-on experience mattered more than I expected. Seeing how real problems get identified and resolved in a live environment builds a kind of confidence you can't get from coursework alone.

Two weeks into that externship, I landed an interview for a Finance Ops Data Analyst role. I didn't get to a mock interview before my first round, I went in without it, and it still went well. The second round included an assessment task that happened to be in the exact format I'd just practiced in the bootcamp (master tables, calculated fields, plain-language summaries that answer "so what"). I knew immediately what to do with it and did it well.

I got the job. And I negotiated an offer at the top of the posted salary band.

My advice to anyone considering TripleTen is don't wait until you feel fully qualified to start, or fully finished to start applying. I didn't have a project portfolio built when I landed my interviews. Apply while you keep improving in the background. You don't need to be the best candidate in the field, you only need to be better than the other people who interview for that same role. TripleTen won't hand you the experience you don't have, but it will give you the tools and format to finally prove the experience you do have.

Tech Elevator is a coding bootcamp that lends you the opportunity to hunker down and learn how to engineer a full stack web service, from scratch, in as little as 14 weeks! If you take it seriously, practice hard, ask lots of questions, and believe in yourself. You too can finish the program with the confidence you need to bash code from thought and enter the job market your chin held high.

TE hosts a solid curriculum that allows even complete novices to quickly gain traction and jump into programming.

The instructors are very knowledgeable and want you to succeed. Pathway is an excellent addition with university level instruction on how to enter the job market with your best foot forward.

The bootcamp is very intense and fast paced. If you don’t feel comfortable asking for help when you don’t understand, you can find yourself behind the ball in an uncomfortable position.

Just finished the year-long software engineering residency at Coding Temple and I can't say enough good things about it. The program is the real deal. We worked on an actual production mobile app for an oil services company with real stakeholders, real deadlines, and a real team. By the end of the residency I had built out features touching React Native, Flask, Postgres, AI integration with Gemini and Claude, biometric authentication, GPS proximity verification, and offline-first sync. Nothing toy about any of it.

Ellijah, Justin and Sara were a huge part of why this worked. As a teachers and mentors they were incredible support throughout the entire program. Patient with the harder concepts, sharp on code review feedback, and always available when something blocked the team. They treat students like teammates, which is exactly the energy you want when you're learning to work on real codebases.

Highly recommend Coding Temple to anyone serious about transitioning into software engineering. The depth is there if you put in the work.

Overall the bootcamp was a great experience. Started with css/html culminating in a Javascript based working e-commerce website utilizing industry specific skills such as react and restApi. There were several instructors, 5 at the start. Two were amazing and 1 left after a short while and never replaced. The other two were quite unhelpful overall and it showed when no one would sign up for extra help with them. Overall, always room for improvement but it gave me the knowledge to gain a foothold in the industry and that's all I hoped for.

I completed the front end developer track in 2021/22 and got a job as a junior developer within a couple months of finishing the course. After a year and a half, I was promoted to Developer, and I'm still with the same company 4 years later.

Previously, I worked in the nonprofit arts sector and had no tech experience. The Skillcrush program is very supportive of women, career-changers, and under-represented groups in tech, which I found very uplifting and encouraging. The courses were very informative, fun and the right amount of challenge. The community of students and teachers provided a ton of support along the way. I felt prepared to apply for jobs; the coaches were very helpful during the job application and interview process.

I highly recommend Skillcrush! I love my career now and wouldn't be where I am today without Skillcrush.

Overall I had a great experience at the The Tech Academy. I recently graduated from the Software Developer Bootcamp. I am currently working with Job Placement to get hired. I learned many programming languages and frameworks and graduated with plenty of knowledge and experience to get hired in the field. Tech Academy has a robust curriculum that can take even the most novice students with no coding experience and give you the tools to be a legitimate developer. They have very encouraging and motivated staff that are ready and available to help out when needed. This was a very intensive program(that is the whole point of a Bootcamp) where you must really be dedicated and willing to put in the time and effort to succeed. With so many lower cost options The Tech Academy can get quite expensive. That being said, there are so many lower cost options that you may dip your toe into the pool of software development but The Tech Academy is really a one-stop shop if you are really serious about being a full-fledged developer. Their curriculum is very extensive. It at times can get a bit repetitive with some of the content but also it is a way to really make the information sink-in. I had a great experience at The Tech Academy and would highly recommend to anyone who is serious about jumping into this field.

The coaches are skilled, caring and supportive. They get to know you and really care about your success and wellbeing. 

The course is very comprehensive and at times intense but not as intense as I was expecting. It was manageable and I learned so much in such a short space of time. I wouldn’t say I felt totally prepared for that first role as a software developer but that’s more because of many companies’ unrealistic expectations on Junior Developers (and maybe a little bit of a self-confidence issue, too - I was a teacher with zero coding experience before making the switch). 

If you put in the work, you can make that career switch with Makers. They came highly recommended to me and I saw why. 

I took the Jedha’s Data Essentials bootcamp remotely (full time). The program provides a solid introduction to data analysis. The pace is intensive, but the hands-on exercises and final project make it possible to apply what you learn to a real-world problem. The instructors were also supportive and available throughout the course.

A great program for anyone looking to build practical data skills and a strong foundation for further learning.
