For the past 3 years cybersecurity has sparked my interest, so I decided to take the leap and enroll in UNC-Charlotte's cybersecurity bootcamp. It was the best decision and an experience that I will remember for a life-time. I enjoyed the instructional staff and making new friends through the program. The instructional team and my peers were very supportive. I enjoyed working with other students to complete projects, and I was challenged to think in new ways. The benefits of this program included office hours to ask questions before and after class; utilizing tutors; and 24/7 live support. My advice to future students would be to set a study schedule, practice exercises, utilize tutors, and bring your own skills to the table. Everyone has skills, no matter your background, that will contribute to the cybersecurity experience.... They really want you to succeed and get a great job, and they will do everything in their power to help you do it. Also, they want to do it as cheaply as possible, which is not the case with any other bootcamps I’ve seen. Great instructional teams, great career training, and great networking opportunities. Read MoreHello review seeker, I just finished DevLeague a couple weeks ago… be prepared for a long but genuine review of Hawaii’s only coding bootcamp. Let me also preface this review by stating that other than knowing a bit of HTML / CSS, I have absolutely no coding knowledge or experience.
Before enrolling myself in their immersive full-time program, like you and many others… I did my research and tried to find any review or resource I could get my hands on about this school. When I stumbled upon CourseReport and saw all their 5 star reviews, the cynic in me couldn’t believe this boot camp (let alone one all the way in Hawaii) could achieve so many positive reviews, so naturally I assumed most were fake. It wasn’t until I personally met (or saw around school) a lot of these “rando” names that were being used on CourseReport, did in fact belong to actual people and these are genuine reviews from real DevLeague alumni.
Taking the plunge with DevLeague as my sidekick was a huge risk for me as I was working full-time in a non-tech job but one of the major deciding factors in choosing this coding bootcamp was the fact that I would be able to make this big career switch in just a few short months and I didn’t have to step foot out of Hawaii.
Being the premature baby dev that I was with no coding background, I enrolled in their JavaScript prep course so I could gain enough knowledge to submit my coding challenge entry. Vic was our main instructor during the 4-week prep course and he was (and still remains) one of my favorite people I’ve met through DevLeague. It’s hard to say *favorite* because honestly, pretty much everyone at DevLeague was awesome and I’m really glad to be a part of this community.
I remember when I first started attending prep class, I was really shocked (but impressed) with the sense of support and community from everyone at DL. Previous graduates would come back to help out or various alumni popped in to give some advice, even students from other classes would stop by to see how we were doing. Needless to say, I really felt the support system there and it’s obvious it trickled down from the top.
I wouldn’t be sitting here today, a DL graduate, if it weren’t for the help and support from Russel and Jason. I can’t count how many emails were passed between Russel and I before I started DevLeague. He was incredibly responsive and resourceful especially when I was going through the process to apply for scholarship, which I was generously awarded. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity they’ve given me.
It’s clearly impossible for me to write a shorter review, especially on something that has had such a big impact, but I’ll try to summarize my experience of the actual bootcamp program:
If you’re looking at the full-time program of 11 hour days, 6 days a week… it seems long, yes, but honestly it passes by pretty quickly especially since you’re jamming on code 70% of the time. My other classmates have the same view as me in this regard.
It’s extremely challenging. I felt so overloaded with information at times that I barely felt like I actually retained anything. That led to me asking myself “Did I make the right decision going through this program?” or “Maybe I’m not meant to be a developer?”
In the beginning, I felt like nothing made sense and it wasn’t until towards the tail end of bootcamp that the pieces started coming together to form a whole picture.
The curriculum is well thought out, projects on point for the topic and I enjoyed the humor in the slideshows. The readme docs are at times confusing (probably getting us used to reading real docs, lol) and some needed updates.
In the end, I wholeheartedly join in and agree with the others in saying “It was the best decision I made” career-wise and if you’re on fence about taking the course or want to ask me for more details about my experience, I’ll be more than happy to answer them for you… shoot me an email jennahscriptAToutlookDOTcom

I wanted a career change I’ve always been a tech person at heart, breaking things down and putting them back together. I wanted to take the risk and go into a bootcamp and being a local looked at all other options but ended up taking this one and I do not regret it. My instructors have been nothing but amazing! From the first day I felt the energy of the virtual room and took in the guidance he had for us, I have spent a lot of time learning this is not easy by any means. What I suggest is having an accountability partner so you can stay on track with your goals you do not want to fall behind. What I enjoyed is when things finally clicked! My instructor emphasized don't focus on the grades focus on the material make sure you understand it instead of chasing the grade and not understanding what you did. In the past three months, I have gone from a novice with no experience in computer programming, to someone who studies and works on computer programs for over 20 hours a week.
This may seem like a lot, but really it has been a life-changing decision for myself and my career. The bootcamp experience is something that I am proud to be a part of.
Not only do you get educated on a high-level learning subject by one of the best Universities in the world, but the education has an incredible amount of real-life applications.
I have only been through half of the program at the time of writing this review, and I have already developed, and deployed a website for the public to use with my fellow students:
https://www.togoodgreens.com
Not only that, but the variety of programming languages and types of coding, such as Front-end, backend, ORM, OOP, Node.js, express, SQL, etc. make it a seriously beneficial program, professionally and personally.
I am now taking more classes offered through UC Extensions due to the positive experience I have had with this course.
I highly encourage other people to take this program, and explore all the benefits which it has to offer.

I had tried a few things in data science and tried to self-learn but I realized quickly that the initial learning curve in this was really steep. Browsing through hundreds of online courses and trying to learn from thousands of resources I was overwhelmed by the ever-changing and ever upgrading field of Data Science.
I needed some structure and a beginners level course which was a challenge to find.
I came across the data science course offered by Ubiqum and decided to enroll in it.
Their “learn by doing”methodology really focused on the practical aspects of data science which helped in greatly reducing the steep initial learning curve. Having said about the practical aspects, theoretical aspects are not forgotten either and the mentors discuss all the theory before, during and after every task.
The projects are designed in such a way that the difficulty levels up with every subsequent project and this helped me build up a very strong base.
I now have completed many projects at Ubiqum and ventured deep into the domain of data science and I would like to thank Ubiqum to provide me with the catapult which helped me launch myself into a career in data science. Coders Lab

This bootcamp proved to be invaluable to my growth as a web developer. The amount of support offered is incredible, from the instructors, TA's, tutors and 24/7 Ask BCS learning assistants. You never feel like you are going at it alone. Learning how to code is hard, sometimes very hard. However, the support that the bootcamp offers, in addition to learning along with your classmates is great!
I would recommend this bootcamp to anyone who needs structure and direction. It is rigorous so be prepared to spend 20-30+ hours per week outside of class learning. And understand that the learning doesn't stop when you graduate.
The majority of the course is Javascript so I would recommend using Udemy or Youtube to teach yourself the basics of Javascript before the class begins. I think that doing so will greatly supplement your learning as you go through the course. - 38Reviews6CoursesMIT xPRO offers a 32-week, online Professional Certificate in Coding: Full Stack Development with MERN bootcamp. Read MoreI joined this online coding bootcamp in June, 2022. My overall experience with this bootcamp has been amazing! I'm going to give a brief detail of each question that you may have.
You may feel unsure about a few things as I have listed below:- I don't know if this is what I want?
- I don't know if this is going to be worth my time?
My advice for you here- You can always say coding is not for you, but Give yourself some time to learn a skill, to get to know a new skill first!- I don't know if I am going to get help if I get stuck with my assignments?
Besides, my teacher and the TA. I used tutoring sessions regularly, meaning- my coding bootcamp was part-time, so I was allowed to book a tutoring session with a tutor 1/week. I noticed that some students were not happy with their tutor, but I was lucky because I found a great tutor working with me through my coding bootcamp journey.
The solution I'm going to share with you here- you can also request for a different tutor, but once you find one that you'd like to work with, you should make sure to bookmark their personal Calendly, so you can book a session with them!- I don't know who can answer my struggles and concerns or can provide me with any possible support in the bootcamp?
My advice for you here- get to know your SSM, they are here for you, they won't know you need them if you don't reach out to them. They are on Slack every day except weekend, I didn't wait till last minute to reach for support, contact them as soon as you notice you need support, and you can actually start getting support in your bootcamp!- I don't know if I am going to get a career coach to work with me to be more employee-ready?
4 things you need prior to get a one-one-one coach session:- Resume + Cover Letter
- LinkedIn Portfolio
- Profession Website

My advice for you here- taking time to complete what you can first and keep building your stuff in a professional way with their useful tips. Parsity

Read MoreAs someone who wanted to make a 180 degree career change and quickly develop marketable coding skills without breaking the bank, Parsity was the perfect bootcamp for me. From a top level perspective, it checked off a lot of the boxes I was looking for: fully remote learning environment with the flexibility to work at my own pace (and either full-time or part-time), continual mentorship and support from the staff both during and after the program, and insanely good value when comparing their price to the average cost of a coding bootcamp.... The curriculum was very well structured with a natural progression of concepts. The first half focused on the Front End - We started with a review of JavaScript fundamentals and CSS/HTML before moving on to DOM manipulation, working with APIs, and then diving into the React framework. In the second half of the course, we transitioned to the Back End, learning how to build our own web servers and databases with Node, Express and MongoDB before putting everything together and developing Full Stack applications. At the end of each week, we were assigned a mini-project that covered what we had just learned. These were very challenging, but always engaging and I really felt like I was building something practical while working on them.
Despite the bootcamp being fully remote, I still had great opportunities to collaborate with other students. In the middle of the course, we had a week-long paired programming hackathon, and towards the end, the entire cohort worked together on a group project simulating an Agile-style sprint in which we were tasked to develop a functioning Full Stack application in 2 weeks. I'd say this experience along with our independent final project was probably where I learned and grew the most. Everything really came together here: putting all the coding skills I'd been honing to use, working/communicating in a group setting (and dealing with the unique challenges this can present), planning out design and structure at a larger scale, using Git flow effectively, and presenting an app as if demoing to a client. These projects were easily my favorite part of the program.
On top of that, I received a ton of support from Parsity in the job search after graduating. First of all, we had dedicated time spent solely on career development, including refining our resumes and LinkedIn profiles, writing effective cover letters, networking, and preparing for the interview process. I also had access to a fantastic Career Services Coach that met with me frequently and was always available when I reached out. I got a ton of helpful advice that was tailored to my own particular job search, as well as mock interviews structured for the specific companies I was focused on. The assistance I received after graduating was invaluable, and ultimately played a huge role in me landing my first developer job.
All in all, if you're interested in programming and want to shift your career trajectory, I highly recommend Parsity. I never would have believed a year ago that I could learn so much in such a short timeframe and actually get hired as a programmer. But it's true - coding bootcamps are a totally viable pathway and Parsity is a great one with great value. Enrolling was one of the best decisions I've ever made.Command Shift
