Having now worked as a data scientist in industry for a few months, I can really appreciate how well the course content was aligned with the skills required on the job. The bootcamp gave me exposure to every aspect of the data science workflow, which gave me the confidence to dive straight into real-world challenges. Shifath, Miranda, and Jeremy were incredibly supportive and knowledgeable throughout. It was also a pleasure to return to full-time learning for three months and work closely with a small group—adding a valuable social element to the experience. I grew a lot during the bootcamp and landed a great job in data science as a result. It was money well spent.

Michael Evan Lauck II Verified via LinkedIn1Student • Course: Data Analytics Career Track • OnlineBuyer Beware – Misleading Job Guarantee & Poor Support
I enrolled in this program in 2020 based on their heavy marketing of a “job guarantee” and a claimed 99% placement rate. Like many others, I trusted those promises — enough that I even convinced my mother to help pay for the tuition. I worked through the coursework, completed my projects, and actively applied for jobs. When a job offer I received was rescinded, the program’s career support proved ineffective. My assigned career coach offered little practical help, and I later found that multiple other students had similar complaints. Eventually, my applications slowed because the market had shifted, but I still expected the “guarantee” to mean what any reasonable person would think it means: If you can’t get me into a job, you refund my tuition. Instead, they tried to offer a fraction of what I paid — at first misrepresenting the math (calling $1,100 “25%” of tuition when it was really 20%), and only correcting it after I pointed it out. When I pressed for the full refund I believe I’m owed, I was met with PR-style responses, LinkedIn blocking from staff, and an unwillingness to acknowledge their own marketing implied far more than they delivered. This entire experience has left me financially strained, emotionally drained, and with zero results in the career I trained for. I’ve since connected with other former students who feel misled or abandoned by the program after paying thousands. If you’re considering this course, know that their “job guarantee” is not what you think it is. Read every word of their terms (which they will lean on to deny refunds) and don’t expect meaningful accountability if things go wrong. There are other learning options that don’t involve misleading promises or playing games with people’s livelihoods.

In terms of support staff, Thinkful is a great community of people that want you to succeed in this field. The majority of instructors are understanding of your position and are patient in trying to help or direct you to people who can help. My mentor was nice and I gained some insights into the field. The career services staff are also very knowledgeable about current hiring practices and are a great resource as well! As someone who attended business school and had experience in Excel and Python, I felt a little underwhelmed with the Python portion of the curriculum. That was one of my main reasons for going through the program. Python is at the very end, and you spend only 15% of your time working with it. A good portion of the curriculum is spent on learning "soft skills" as they say, which means your assignments are building a resume, networking on LinkedIn, practicing interviewing, and presenting PowerPoints. The other main reason I chose this program is because of the tuition refund guarantee. WARNING: in order to fully qualify for the guarantee, you must jump through all their requirements for the learning course AND the careers course (6 months after graduation). This is a total of 10 months following their policies, which are quite restrictive. To me, it seems they built their policies so that you could be hired ASAP rather than working with you to find a quality job in your desired industry. Most of the jobs you will see are startup tech companies, or big names in business, tech, or finance (because everyone is hiring "data analysts"). Also, the cost of this program is very high and you're not getting the campus experience that they had before the pandemic. So, if you already have a bachelor's/business experience, I would recommend looking into other self-taught programs that are cheaper or W3 schools' online tutorials until they start offering in-person again.

The bootcamp is everything you need to get yourself up to speed in terms of data science competency. Being a bootcamp, there are some assumptions that you need to know upfront: It will be FAST paced! It is a bootcamp after all. It will feel like cramming a few uni semesters into one. You need to have some competency in Python and A level/uni maths. Commit the ENTIRE 3 months to this course. Pretty much doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Having said that, the course materials are very comprehensive and instructors very supportive. Career coach is also very helpful, though of course only as helpful as the effort that you put in yourself. There’s just a few areas that the course is lacking, which is understandable due to its short duration: More comprehensive SQL. The bootcamp only touhes it superficially, though the industry seems to emphasise on this. Data visualisation softwares. Qlik/Tableau/Power BI is not covered at all, but will be a huge bonus if you have some competency. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you’re looking to do a career switch or to gain data science competency.

Mehmet Emre Toktay Verified via LinkedIn1Student • Course: Data Scientist • OnlineReally Poor Customer Service
Udacity used to be a great online education platform that I recommended to friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. I've purchased three Nanodegree courses from them, and I was initially fascinated by their project ideas, reviews, comments, and mentors when I first discovered the platform. In this era, thanks to sharing enthusiasts and the developer community, you can access all the knowledge or projects that Udacity can offer. This is true for most platforms, so what you pay for is the educational support from real people, customer support, certification value, and user-friendly workspaces/websites. At Udacity, mentors generally help you out quickly when you raise a question, which is great. The value of certification depends on your country, so I won't comment on that. Now, let's discuss the red flags that have made me stop using this platform. I'll also share my detailed recent experience. Especially after the new update, the website and workspace are a mess, almost looking like an unfinished website. It's definitely not user-friendly. The same goes for their workspace. For example there is data that can't be downloaded due to sensitive information, and you have an AI project. It's normal to wait 4-5 hours for your train data, but in their workspace, it can be interrupted because their system automatically logs you off or experiences at least one or two crashes in day at Jupyter. This means you have to start over. Your code will be there, but you have to run every line again. Regarding customer support: at Udacity, there's never a chance to talk with real support; there's an AI chatbot (Seb) that only sends emojis and doesn't provide any useful information. They added UdacityGPT, which is incapable of answering questions. They charge money per course per month but don't provide support within 72 hours. No one cares about you after you pay. I hope people will see this post before purchasing. Also, concerning reviewers, if they're busy, they don't care about you and can even refuse to review your project. For example, if you're near to repaying next month and close to finishing your project, might reviewers will use up all the deadline and can make excuses not to check your project. If you ask for help from support, good luck – you have to wait at least 72 hours, which might only result in a response asking you a question in return. In my capstone project, I shared my repo, code, and blog articles. In this course, I took lessons on coding and GitHub, but not on how to write articles, which makes sense because writing and sharing articles is a personal choice. In my project submission, the reviewer refused to do a review because they believe I shared too much code in the article, which definitely does not make sense. I am not sharing this article as a Udacity employee; this is my personal area and my personal choice. There was no rule in the project rubric stating that I can't share code in my article. The funny part is that, because of this, the reviewer did not do any review for my GitHub repo and code. I am here to learn coding and data science, which should be our primary goal, but this reviewer does not seem to care about this. For now, I have clearly told the reviewer that it's my choice, and if there are any missing parts, they should address them in the review and provide me with some examples. Also, please help me understand the idea of making a perfect article if my code is not right. Let's say there is a critical mistake in my project; I would have to change the entire article. I don't understand this logic. After I wrote this to the reviewer, they are now purposely making me wait for the review and using up all the time for the deadline, which I have never experienced before at Udacity. This kind of approach is not cool, and their attempt to fool me is making me angry.
I came into TripleTen's BIA program with over 10 years of real operational and financial problem-solving experience, but I had never held an official analyst title. I knew how to diagnose problems and fix them and present solutions to leadership and stakeholders. What I didn't have was the format tech hiring managers expect to see, things like dashboards, key insight summaries, and structured data storytelling. That's exactly what the program gave me. The bootcamp was my first real exposure to tools like Tableau and Power BI, and to concepts like maintaining a clean summary tab or a changes/bugs log. I had some SQL, programming and advanced Excel background going in, but I didn't lead with those. What actually shifted my trajectory was learning how to package analytical thinking the way the industry expects it packaged. The career support was just as valuable as the technical training. The resume and LinkedIn revamp changed how I presented over a decade of results. I used to list responsibilities. Now every bullet leads with impact, dollars recovered, percentage improvements, systems that outlasted my time in a role. My career coach also added a lot in our review sessions, reading bullets out loud and reacting in real time gave me new ways of seeing my own experience that I hadn't considered on my own. A few months after finishing the program, TripleTen connected me with an externship at an insurtech company. That hands-on experience mattered more than I expected. Seeing how real problems get identified and resolved in a live environment builds a kind of confidence you can't get from coursework alone. Two weeks into that externship, I landed an interview for a Finance Ops Data Analyst role. I didn't get to a mock interview before my first round, I went in without it, and it still went well. The second round included an assessment task that happened to be in the exact format I'd just practiced in the bootcamp (master tables, calculated fields, plain-language summaries that answer "so what"). I knew immediately what to do with it and did it well. I got the job. And I negotiated an offer at the top of the posted salary band. My advice to anyone considering TripleTen is don't wait until you feel fully qualified to start, or fully finished to start applying. I didn't have a project portfolio built when I landed my interviews. Apply while you keep improving in the background. You don't need to be the best candidate in the field, you only need to be better than the other people who interview for that same role. TripleTen won't hand you the experience you don't have, but it will give you the tools and format to finally prove the experience you do have.

As a Business Analyst at the University of Chicago, I initially joined the Data Analytics Bootcamp specifically to master SQL. I was impressed to find the curriculum went far beyond that, covering Python, Tableau, and PowerBI in depth. Over the past few months, I’ve already been able to integrate these new skills directly into my current role, and I feel much more confident pivoting into larger-scale data challenges. A huge part of the success of this program is the instruction; Tina Lowry is incredibly knowledgeable and goes above and beyond, providing additional office hours that were instrumental to my learning. I highly recommend this bootcamp to any data professional—from beginner to intermediate—looking to bridge the gap in their technical toolkit. The class has also helped me discover a passion for data storytelling which I'm excited to explore very soon!

I am so happy with my decision to do my boot camp with the tech academy! I was drawn to the program because it was self-paced, middle of the range in terms of cost and time, and because they built their curriculum for people who have never coded before. I knew hardly anything about coding to begin with and they really drill the fundamentals before ramping up to more challenging content. I gained a broad base of fundamental skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript before moving onto the more specific data science which focus more on statistics, machine learning, Python and R. I can now confidently wrangle, visualize and model data using both Python, R and PowerBI. At the end I did a two week live project that really brought all of those skills together in real-world agile/scrum team environment. I do want to note that Data Science is a big, new, someone ill-defined field and I believe there is no way someone could learn every aspect of it in four months. This bootcamp gave me super solid fundamentals in the areas of statistics, data wrangling/cleaning, data visualization, and machine learning models using both Python and R. I now have the confidence to self educate in these and other areas of interest, as well as the skills to land a junior analyst position. The course was challenging without being overwhelming and the staff and instructors are available, competent, and they clearly want you to succeed. My job placement coordinator was AMAZING (shout out to Samantha!) She's the closest thing I've ever had to a personal assistant. Whether you need someone to look over a resume or cover letter or to give you a pep talk, they are there for it, present, and keep you on track without being overbearing. They are also very receptive to feedback about the program or your experience both during and after. Overall it was a very positive experience and I feel like I used my quarantine to really get my life on a better track.
