Before making my decision, I researched many private courses and programs at other universities. I can tell you that this is the most comprehensive and balanced program at a competitive fee. At others schools, you get a third of the material from this course for the same price. Another important factor is the excellent reputation of Columbia University as one of the most prestigious universities not only in the US but the world. This translates into the quality of its educational programs and teaching staff. Also, this certificate program allows one to attend classes in the evening so as not to interfere with one’s job. It’s very convenient for those working individuals who want to further develop their UX/UI skills or change their profession altogether.
Why did I choose the UX/UI Design program? I have a degree in web design, programming, and computer graphics. However, I did very little work in this area, more often as a freelancer, as this was not my main job. I received my diploma 10 years ago and a lot of what I learned then became outdated. Back then there wasn’t even a concept of UX/ UI. I decided to go back to doing UX/UI as I feel that this is an area I can excel in. Knowing what I needed to learn for my future job made it easier for me to choose this course. I advise anyone who wants to change their profession and doesn’t know where to start to sign up for Columbia Engineering UX/UI Boot Camp. I can assure you for sure that you will get a good starting base knowledge of UX/UI. There were about 30 people in a class and 1 instructor and 2 TAs. The course was remote and taught over Zoom used with Slack. I was able to learn multiple concepts needed to become a Full Stack Developer. We would get assignments that we were put in a breakout room to complete and get experience after the instructor finished teaching the concept. The instructors and TAs would join the rooms and help us with any difficulties.
Some other perks I found helpful was the fact that I was assigned a tutor who I could work one on one with for an hour every week, I got experience collaborating with other people on projects, I received feedback on my career materials, and I got assigned a career coach I could meet with after graduation to assist with the job search.
Only complaint I have is that some of the other people in my class were lazy and not very intelligent and wouldn't help with projects and managed to be a burden. I don't mind helping people out when they run into problems when they pay attention to what I am saying and learn. I had some people who I helped out in the Boot Camp who were genuinely trying to improve and ended up becoming better after I helped them and it made them willing to help me out but I wasted hours trying to teach certain people simple concepts that they couldn't understand after they wouldn't put any effort into the class. This isn't entirely the fault of the school as they had a process of checking the people who applied. This is something that will happen anywhere though and it is good to know how to handle situations like this in life.
I am able to recommend the Boot Camp and say that it was helpful for me. I am currently seeking a job and can say that I have received good help with programming and job seeking.

I had multiple friends get hired before even finishing the curriculum so the Job assistance is also handled very well.

The Bootcamp doesn't require a computer science background but it helps to have university-grade foundations in computation, mathematics, and statistics as well as some experience with programming languages. On many occasions, because of the fast pace of the program, I wished I had more time to deepen my knowledge of certain topics and tools like web technologies, cloud computing, and Python libraries, but at least the curriculum revisits them later on and expands on them appropriately. The career services are good but it's hard to prioritize them early on with so much going on in the lessons and assignments.The way I get the most out of the course is by being confident using everyday tools like Git, Google, the command line, and code editors, as they can get in the way of learning more complex topics further down the road. The rest is applying the course materials in whatever interests you the most. The first 4-6 weeks can be difficult as you adapt to the schedule but it gets easier once you make a habit of learning and practicing technical skills while progressively becoming a better data analyst.

Aprendí programación de forma autodidacta y tuve un proyecto durante 10 años en los que programaba prácticamente a diario por lo que he empezado el Bootcamp con una buena base y aun así, siento que aprendo y mejoro con cada clase.

I think though, that besides teaching me their specific stack, GHP really taught me how to think like a programmer. My cohortmates, fellows, and instructors were so supportive and still are even now after I've graduated. The pair programming enabled me to learn to speak technically and work with others in this new environment, and the workshops are still useful for me to go through even now that I'm an employed software engineer. I cannot recommend the Grace Hopper Program enough for any woman or nonbinary person looking to get into the technical field.

Moreover, I gained knowledge and had an experience in deploying to the web, the projects which I successfully accomplished such as Image Search App, Customize Accessories App, Portfolios, and others. Making your own websites is not that easy because you need to exert effort, spend your time and really think and apply your knowledge in order to make one. In my journey, I have encountered coding problems and errors but I am fortunate to have instructors who are always there to help and share their wisdom.
This bootcamp is a very good training ground to those who would like to learn about programming and developing websites. Comprehensive lectures and discussions are given in which you will be taught about the basics in website development. Instructors welcome and always recognize our queries. If due to unavoidable circumstances, you missed a session, you have nothing to worry about because the recorded video is provided. I am beyond grateful to the uplift family for this wonderful learning experience that will surely pave me the way in my journey for a brighter future. I have previously received a Bachelor’s degree in business and began learning on my own over a year ago. I joined CodeCore because I found the complete full stack difficult to learn on my own. I wanted more hands on training and to be able to code with a group (as you would on a job) and to get more feedback and code review.
It was hard work, and I really loved how much there was to learn and how quickly I could take it in thanks to the bootcamp format. Instruction took place in the morning then we did labs to practice during the afternoon. Homework and exams helped further cement knowledge and build confidence. The quality of the teaching was excellent - Steve and Tam are great instructors with valuable industry knowledge. And the TAs are excellent - friendly, highly skilled and helpful.
I’m getting ready to start my first position as a full stack dev and I’m beyond excited. Advice I would give if you’re thinking of joining CodeCore is work hard, take it seriously, ask for help when you need it., and maximize your potential learning by practicing the basics as much as possible before starting. They really want you to succeed and will do everything to help you learn and prepare for jobs afterward. This course was taken during the pandemic so it was mostly done online. There was an option to go in the classroom but it was the middle of winter and leaving the house didn't seem as appealing. All of the instructors were great. They did a good job of explaining the concepts and helping you if you needed it. You will not be spoon-fed information. There is a level of expectation for you to put in some work so be prepared to spend some of your own time to figure things out. Make sure you go into the program with a good basic foundation (html, css, javascript). We had a really good group within my cohort. Everyone was helpful and wanted to be better. I enjoyed my time at Launch Academy and will never forget the experience.
