Read MoreIn late 2022, I began the devCodeCamp (hereafter, "dCC") Computer Science Engineer bootcamp with prior experience testing websites and a little exposure to the frontend markup languages, HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA, and JavaScript. Through 20 weeks of rigorous, rapid-paced instruction and practice, I gained a confident handle on the technologies that I learned, including Python, Django REST Frameworks, Postman API, Java, Cypress, SQL, MySQL, CSS Flexbox, JavaScript, and React.js. I went from knowing usability and markup to practicing full stack development.
There were several important professional development concepts integrated into the structure of the program. For example, we were practiced Agile principles, gave "standups" to report our progress on a project, and were paired for certain projects. Some of the questions for which we were required to give written answers helped us practice our communication skills. The course went beyond just programming to give us a taste of the real-world environment for which we were preparing.
I have taken a lot of online trainings before dCC, and this was the best value for the cost of training that I paid for. The lessons were well-coordinated as each teacher conveyed the same information about the lesson. The live lectures and demos were supported by corresponding videos and slide shows to give us multiple ways to engage and review the course content. The teachers were responsive to visit us in breakout rooms for extra support as needed.
Anyone with no prior programming experience (as I was) should expect to spend a lot of time after class to reviewing the lessons and practicing the basics. Be encouraged to ask a lot of questions to clarify terms and concepts that are unfamiliar. The pace is fast, and you must be diligent to reach out to the instructors about any difficulties you face so that they may help you reach your goals.
I ask a lot of questions in class. Each teacher handled my questions, no matter how difficult, with patience and grace. Their confidence gave me the confidence that instructors were not only competent but experts in the field. This increased the value of what they were teaching me.
Five months ago, I knew none of this. I give dCC the highest recommendation for equipping me with a variety of tools and projects to approach the software development industry with the foundation to understand and contribute as I continue my growth as a developer.
Adding icing to the cake is that dCC also provides career support from the first month of the course. That support, an introductory online seminar with a Career Services employee, set the tone and foundation for the end goal of our training to enter the workforce!
As a graduate, the plan to help us find employment was clear, consistent, and definitive. dCC stands out to me as top-notch in support from Admissions to Career Services, comparable to the services of a traditional college. From start to finish, thank you, dCC!... Read Less

Read MoreI compared the best bootcamps and went for Jedha because of its very strong program, and the fact that it is updated to keep offering cutting-edge knowledges. In this regard, it definitely met my expectations, and in a way that I could smoothly understand and use even the most advanced concepts very quickly. The staff, the teachers and our assistant teacher all did an amazing job to ensure that we keep pace with the brisk pace. Before beginning I did not expect such involvment, all along the course (and even after), so that was definitely a good surprise. All together, it produced tremendous results. At the end of the course we also received a lot of good tips in order to find a job, and the school also has a network of tech companies, which appear to love people who went through this professional training. Thanks to the advices and help I received from the school, I managed to land quickly and easily a very nice Data scientist job in a famous company, while finishing the course. Since then I still use from time to time the resources of the program through the intern platform which is also full of extra contents, tutorials.. So is the school perfect? I don’t believe in such things, so if you are picky I’m sure you can always manage to find a few detail that are not good enough to you. But the mindset in Jedha seems to be Always keep improving. I mean, they listen to what people say. For instance their Lead data program (for data engineering) was becoming a bit too hard, so they worked on it to make it better and added 5 days to it, instead of lowering the content.Although I’m sure there are a few other bootcamps abroad that might do a terrific job too, I don’t think I could have meet such an optimum formula between high-quality pedagogy, knowledge resources, adequacy with the world of data and great atmosphere..I underwent the Fullstack data and Lead data programs. Read MoreMy experience with BloomTech (FKA Lambda School) went above and beyond my expectations. I was switching careers and had no math or coding background. I didn't want to go into debt for a graduate degree, and a $15k 3-month boot camp seemed risky. The school went through some changes throughout my year there. My cohort experienced a shortening of the curriculum from 18-months to 12-months, piloted a peer mentorship program, and after our cohort there would be layoffs of the teaching assistants and no more new part-time cohorts. These things shook up some students, but I felt the school was staying true to its goal: to help me get the best job with the best salary after graduation. They communicated every change they made, and explained how it benefitted the sustainability of the program, or would help us become better candidates. I did everything the school suggested: I showed up to class and office hours, turned in every assignment, networked and applied to jobs far earlier than I thought was appropriate (2 months into the program!).
I was surprised by the depth of education on career development. It went beyond working on your resume and interviews. I learned current work methodologies and tools, how to be a better teammate, how to work through conflicts, how to learn and persevere when faced with a challenge, how to know yourself better. It expanded the way I thought about work and life outside work. These classes, and the amazing but eventually canceled mentorship program, were part of BloomTech's efforts to create the kind of candidates that employers were asking for.
It paid off!! I got a job at Accenture six weeks after graduating, with a six-figure salary. Before I got the offer, BloomTech hired me as an office hours assistant (Support Hour Lead), and also got me into a month-long Fellowship as a Data Engineer for a startup, where BloomTech paid my salary, not the startup. The Careers department pushed job openings my way, counseled me if I was feeling down (mental health is big here), and helped me negotiate a 9% salary increase.
As a warning, the attrition rate of students in my cohort was extremely high. I don't fault BloomTech for this, I think it's the nature of the beast. I don't even fault the students who dropped out, they probably had the best intentions. I think BloomTech is the best option for a quality education without having to risk cash up front or go into debt, and the careers department is where the value of the ISA really kicks in. Read MoreFrom day one of the Bootcamp, the teachers kept telling us "Check yourself before you wreck yourself and trust the process". I didn't know what they meant at the time and I questioned everything. Coming from Retail Management as working background with zero experience in the Tech world the Bootcamp was quite intense as well as overwhelming for me throughout the whole 12-week course. A lot of new information was thrown at us every day, and the next day built on the previous one. Apart from the 10-6 daily schedule, I had to grind lots of extra hours of self-studying in order to keep up with the course. But at some point, everything started coming together and the puzzle started becoming more concrete. It's a GREAT program - for everyone - regardless of their background, whether they are coders or non-coders. The teachers and TA are very knowledgeable. They are extremely friendly and patient. The teachers taught me how to code but also how to be patient, be gentle with myself, and work in a team effectively. The management team is polite, friendly, and present. They're always available to help with any issues. The Career Week was very helpful and enlightening in order to help us prepare properly for the job hunt, job interviews, polish our resume and Linkedin profile. I chose Codaisseur mainly for the "No cure- no pay" model that they offer, as tuition fees can be quite stressful while trying to find a job as a junior developer. All and all, I am 100% satisfied with my choice as I found my first job as a Junior API Engineer 5-weeks after my graduation. If you're on the fence (just like me in the beginning) and wondering if you should take Codaisseur Bootcamp or not, please do yourself a favor – take a leap of faith – and GO FOR IT! The staff are incredible, there's no doubt about that. There are too many people to name, but I have to give a special shout-out to my teachers, Justin and Javier.
In the end I found a job through Codeup's hard working placement team. Though it took five months to land after graduation, they definitely fulfilled their job placement guarantee in my case. At the time of enrollment most students won't be thinking what the market conditions are by the time they graduate. Unfortunately, it's been a tough market for new grads. I would keep that in mind when determining a course of action in the job-seeking phase. On the other hand, if you are willing to relocate then that opens up many more opportunities.
As far as the curriculum goes, though it is definitely robust, I think there could be some minor areas of improvement. To be fair, the curriculum regularly gets updated which I think is great.
On a final note, if you're in the San Antonio or Dallas area and looking to join a coding bootcamp, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option! Codeup definitely gets my recommendation :)
P.S. Full disclosure, I went through the program while it was fully remote. That format seemed to work pretty well for me, though I believe Codeup has resumed their regular in-person format by now.Holberton School

Read MoreBefore enrolling in the course I had interviewed for a few tech and research-oriented positions in my field and failed to move past the last stages of the process, so I decided that I needed to get better prepared to meet the demands of today's data-driven world. This Bootcamp's curriculum covers a lot of ground and it succeeds to stay within industry-standard tools and practices that have given me the confidence to work with real-life data analytics and data engineering tasks. The Bootcamp doesn't require a computer science background but it helps to have university-grade foundations in computation, mathematics, and statistics as well as some experience with programming languages. On many occasions, because of the fast pace of the program, I wished I had more time to deepen my knowledge of certain topics and tools like web technologies, cloud computing, and Python libraries, but at least the curriculum revisits them later on and expands on them appropriately. The career services are good but it's hard to prioritize them early on with so much going on in the lessons and assignments. The way I get the most out of the course is by being confident using everyday tools like Git, Google, the command line, and code editors, as they can get in the way of learning more complex topics further down the road. The rest is applying the course materials in whatever interests you the most. The first 4-6 weeks can be difficult as you adapt to the schedule but it gets easier once you make a habit of learning and practicing technical skills while progressively becoming a better data analyst.... Read MoreI recently completed the software development bootcamp and overall, I had a positive experience. The instructors were knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum was well-structured and covered a wide range of topics. The hands-on projects and group work helped me to solidify my understanding of the material and apply what I had learned. Additionally, the career services team provided valuable resources and support to help me find a job in the field. The only downside was that the program was intense and fast-paced, so it required a significant time commitment. Overall, I feel that the bootcamp adequately prepared me for a career in software development and I would recommend it to others interested in the field.... Read LessSMU Boot Camps

Read MoreI'm an ex-military cop with no prior coding experience that decided to get into the financial technology industry after studying economics at a prestigious university. I did a great deal of research on coding boot camps, going through reviews, Reddit posts, Youtube videos, and syllabus', before deciding to attend SMU's Fintech boot camp. Firstly, I was impressed by the program's syllabus, Financial programming with Python, Neural networks, Solidity smart contracts, and Dapp's building to name a few. I was very impressed by the teaching staff, they were very experienced, even in blockchain smart contracts.- Learning Process: I was in a small online class of 12 students all near the Dallas area so we were able to meet in person for group projects. Since the classes were so small the teacher and teacher's aid were able to help answer any questions we had and walk us through important concepts.
- The lessons are very detailed, guiding you through basic to more advanced programming concepts, and at the end of the lessons, you code an assignment that you can add to your GitHub Portfolio.
- We had a virtual class two times per week for 2hrs where the teacher would go over the material in the modules, then an optional study session with the TA once a week which, I highly recommend going to.
- The teacher was very well educated and did an excellent job at helping you understand every concept in the syllabus.
- Projects: The projects are probably my favorite aspect of the class. You decide with your group what project you want to work on and everyone contributes to the project's Github similar to how you would do it in the professional environment.
- If your group decided to make a Crytpo portfolio analyzer in the first project, in the following project you could build onto that and make an Algorithmic trading bot or whatever you want.
- Advice: My advice to people who want to get into coding or just want to learn Fintech, is to take this boot camp and put in what you want to get out, you won't regret it.
- The more you study/practice the better your coding skills will be, make a schedule with plenty of study time and stick to it.
- For studying, I found I learned best by working on the end of the lesson assignment as I learned the concepts, using Stackoverflow as needed, then using the optional TA study session to ask any questions I had; or fix errors I encountered in my code (which were many early on).
- Job Assistance: Of the career services I have used from other boot camps, this has been the best by far.
- At the end of the lessons, there is a career connection page that tells you how to add the new skills you learned to your resume, what jobs use these skills, questions jobs might ask based on what you just learned, and upcoming career events.
- There are tons of webinars that you get access to! Coding interview prep workshops, Google recruiting webinars, and way more. I highly recommend signing up for every webinar you are interested in, even while you are still going through the boot camp.
- A career material advisor gives you continuous feedback on your resume until you are satisfied with it, then you get paired with a career coach who, essentially coaches you through getting hired (technical interview questions, etc).
- OVERALL VERDICT: I went to school at a top-ranked university, and previously completed a Veteran Technology cybersecurity course, and I learned more in SMU's Fintech boot camp that actually applies to jobs than I did anywhere else. I would recommend this boot camp to anyone who is interested, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me on Linkedin.
- Learning Process: I was in a small online class of 12 students all near the Dallas area so we were able to meet in person for group projects. Since the classes were so small the teacher and teacher's aid were able to help answer any questions we had and walk us through important concepts.

Read More"Process over python" was a quote that the instructor Jeff reinforced throughout the course. Yes we learned the technical knowledge of python for building ETL pipelines from scratch, but Jigsaw also teaches you how to think like a programmer and approach problems using data engineering logic. You stop worrying about if you can solve something, and start breaking down a coding challenge piece by piece using the Jigsaw curriculum's methodology and principles that utilize python's incredible programming logic of data type transformations, functions, inheritance, etc. so you're prepared for any data engineering position. The course materials are 100% dedicated to data engineering, and Jeff is supported by incredible TAs that circulate rooms so that you're never stuck. Finally, the externship finishes off the immersive and the hands on experience was invaluable and tied everything together. The job support continues indefinitely beyond the course as well. Finally, my cohort was wonderful and we all learned as a team and I look forward to maintaining those genuine connections.

Read MoreI came into the CDA Bootcamp with very few technical skills. I had used a Linux shell a few times, set up a Virtual Machine once, and understood very little about how Operating Systems work or why they are vulnerable to attack. However, by the time I graduated, I felt prepared to tackle the CDCP (optional certification after bootcamp graduation) and enter the job market.
I’m a big fan of how the course is structured. Every week a new module gets released with a few interrelated topics that require you to read some material, watch a short (20min) lecture, do a lab on the provided Virtual Machine and complete a challenge where you put your skills to the test. There are also optional labs and challenges for the more advanced students. There will be a few lessons you need to get through every weekend before class starts so that you are familiar with the topics.
The classes are two hours long, but since they are conducted using Zoom and Prezi, they are very engaging. The instructors spent the first hour of class reinforcing the topics through interactive lectures, answering our questions, or walking us through labs. We broke into small groups in the second hour and worked on the weekly individual or group challenges. It may sound repetitive, but trust me, you’ll need the reps! On Friday, there was an optional FAQ. The optional class featured a respected industry figure, a lab, or a value-added FAQ (not just rambling).
The class vibe was great, and communication with other students and the instructors was super easy through discord. In my cohort, we set up an additional study group to help with the super challenging stuff. All the instructors are knowledgeable in their respective fields and very personable. They are true mentors if you approach them with your issues.
If you already have some experience in cybersecurity or IT, you will be in better shape out of the gate than I was. I came to the course with 20 years of experience in another unrelated career field but found many unexpected opportunities to bring in my previous experience. I’m building a new career, and the bootcamp has given me the tools.... Read Less

Read MoreI have successfully completed my 6-month journey through Arizona State University FinTech Bootcamp! I enrolled in the program with no prior coding experience at all. My background consists of construction and about a decade of day trading experience. I was not sure what to make of the Bootcamp at first as I had never done online education before. I was not very tech savvy in general. The first day of class my instructor asked me a question, he said Why are you here? I thought about it for a second and explained I am there to change careers, I am tired of the physical labor, busting my back all day in the blistering heat. He told me to remember my why and stay focused. I knew it was going to be hard but I decided I was going to trust the process. With the support of my classmates and my amazing tutor/mentor Johnathan I took it one day at a time and little by little started to learn how to program. I became very passionate early on in the course and used that passion as motivation to learn as much as I could. It is a fast-paced course and definitely not for those that are not willing to put in the effort. For disclosure and full transparency, I put in easily 20- 30+ hours each week of outside class time to really absorb everything but I was more than willing as I was determined to learn and remembered my "why". My Instructor Estevan and teacher assistant Derek were very informative and insightful, they offered office hours before and after class which I attended every one. They could not have been any more supportive of me throughout the entire journey. They knew my background of having No background as it relates to programming and were more than willing to match my effort and support me by answering any questions I had. I realized that the experience is what you make of it so I asked as many questions as I could think of and kept detailed notes. By asking so many questions in office hours and taking detailed notes of the problems I had I was able to start helping other classmates debug their errors in class. Helping others allowed me to instill within myself what I learned. I am proud to say I was announced as one of the Top students in the class upon completion as I maintained an A+ average and missed no classes or assignments.Being a day trader for nearly a decade I have been keeping track of tedious statistics, manually, first on paper in a notebook then eventually in an excel spreadsheet. Early on in the Bootcamp I realized I could use my skills to automate the tedious and very time-consuming tasks that were required of me. Around the 10th week of the bootcamp, I started working on a personal project to utilize for my day trading. I decided I would implement the skills I was learning in class, putting these skills to practical use in real time really ensured I was comprehending everything. By the end of the program I completed my day trading application and currently use it on a day to day basis to help myself make trading decisions.I would recommend this bootcamp to anyone that has an interest in learning Python. You can 100% do it through this Bootcamp as it offers you all the support you need to thrive. You have to have the tenacity from within yourself. If you want to further your education there is no better place in my opinion. The support and staff are professional knowledgeable experts in the field with a bleeding passion which is contagious. I enjoyed the program and would do it all over again. My 2 cents:Attend office hoursMeet with your tutor weeklyRe-watch all the recordings of the classesTake detailed notesWork on your own passion projectSupport your classmatesAlways remember your "WHY"If you want to achieve success Arizona State University FinTech Bootcamp is highly suggested.
I have recently completed the bootcamp so I can not give a fair assessment on Job Assistance yet as it is not applicable to me currently. I can say they do offer excellent resources and provide support in preparing for the career hunt!
