The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus.The Tech Academy offers bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, and front-end development. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. There are also no set starts dates or rigid scheduling. Students can enroll at any time, study from home, and choose whatever study schedule they would like.
The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cover topics including computer science fundamentals, programming basics, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Python, Bootstrap, jQuery, React.js, project management, Agile, Scrum, MVC, version control, Java, and more. Each bootcamp also includes a Live Project, where students gain real-life experience to add to their resume as well as job placement assistance.
None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

A great experience.
I just graduated and it was a great experience. I highly recommend The Tech Academy, the instructors were fantastic and the part time option was just right. Best structured Bootcamp hands down
My time at the tech academy was an amazing rush of fun and knowledge. They start you off with the complete basics. Then you dive into it rather fast, BUT, it's structured so well that it's easy to learn as you go. I did it online, full time, while working and raising kids. If I'm able to graduate, you can too!

Amazing Cyber Security bootcamp experience!
A bit about me: I came to this program by way of a career change and a non-technical background. I knew that I wanted to transition into cybersecurity for the remainder of my professional life, but I didn't know where to start really, as I didn't possess any deeper understanding of computers and information technology beyond that of an average user.
What I found in the Tech Academy was the perfect blend of independent study and accountability. Being in my late 30...A bit about me: I came to this program by way of a career change and a non-technical background. I knew that I wanted to transition into cybersecurity for the remainder of my professional life, but I didn't know where to start really, as I didn't possess any deeper understanding of computers and information technology beyond that of an average user.
What I found in the Tech Academy was the perfect blend of independent study and accountability. Being in my late 30s and having already gone through traditional undergrad and graduate programs, I knew how to study, I knew I wanted to work from home, but I also thought that I would benefit from a structured curriculum vs. piecing together online resources while hoping those covered the basics. This balance was struck by the team at the Tech Academy. I set my own schedule, I could spend as much or as little time on the topics that were covered depending on my own comfort level with the material, and I was provided with an amazing foundational understanding of how computers and networks actually work. This introductory course helped immerse me in the language of the field and helped me better assess my own areas of weakness and the gaps that I would need to fill in before fully committing to a career in tech. I really appreciated this approach to the TA's curriculum. They assumed nothing and covered everything at a reasonable pace, providing additional resources if needed, as well as an incredibly supportive and response team of instructors who reviewed your work and provided feedback nearly instantaneously. This level of accountability and encouragement was truly invaluable, as it helped me overcome my fear of being an "imposter" and feel valued as a recent tech graduate who is armed with the right knowledge to begin a new career.Brett Caudle of The Tech Academy

Each of these courses emphasizes fundamental knowledge that is important for understanding the larger concepts of software development. I was really pleased with the structure and design of the curriculum. Each course is very careful to work in order from simple to complex topics, with each lesson/assignment building on your previous knowledge. While there is a lot of reading and watching videos, there's also a lot of hands-on coding.
In addition to each of these courses, there are also two live projects. These projects happen over the course of two weeks and are meant to simulate and actual job environment. You work as part of a team of developers (other students) to complete tasks related to a larger project. Those tasks are assigned to you by a project manager (your instructor). You participate in daily meetings conducted according to agile/scrum methodologies to report on your work, discuss roadblocks, and get feedback from your project manager. I really enjoyed these projects as they gave me the chance to put my skills to the test in life-like environment.
Overall, the software development bootcamp helped me gain a strong understanding of object-oriented programming and prepared me to be an entry-level full stack developer in the tech industry. I attended the online Software Developer Boot Camp at The Tech Academy, and I cannot speak highly enough about my experience. I appreciated the flexibility of their self-paced program; it allowed me to move through easier concepts faster and take more time on subjects that were more challenging for me. Once you complete your first Front-End course, you will start applying those skills right away by building your online Developer Portfolio, and you’ll keep adding to this and enhancing it ...I attended the online Software Developer Boot Camp at The Tech Academy, and I cannot speak highly enough about my experience. I appreciated the flexibility of their self-paced program; it allowed me to move through easier concepts faster and take more time on subjects that were more challenging for me. Once you complete your first Front-End course, you will start applying those skills right away by building your online Developer Portfolio, and you’ll keep adding to this and enhancing it as you work your way through the boot camp.
My favorite parts of the entire boot camp were the two Live Projects which resemble an actual work environment and really helped me gain confidence in my skills. The Live Projects really tie everything together, and you will pretty much use everything you learn in the bootcamp during each one. The Version Control and Project Management courses are excellent preparation for each of the Live Projects.
Any time I reached out to any of the instructors they were patient, supportive, and pointed me in the right direction without spoon-feeding me the answers. The Job Placement course and team are an invaluable resource that will get you well-prepared to hit the ground running for interviews. From Admissions all the way through Job Placement, it’s clear that The Tech Academy really wants their students to succeed.
Although it’s not a requirement to graduate, I also highly recommend that you take part in their weekly in-person or online Tech Talks through Meetup where professionals working in the industry offer tips on how to get into and succeed in tech.
