went in with high expectations, coming out very disappointed

I started a full-time SEI cohort with GA in April 2023 with a completion date of tomorrow and just want to warn others out there to do a LOT of research before committing 3 months of your time and $15,000 to this organization.
The marketing of this company really had me believing I would be able to land a decent job as a software developer with no previous experience within a few months of finishing the bootcamp, and as tomorrow is my last day I'm realizing that there is just no way ...

    A new exposure

Offline class is quite conducive. Instructors are all friendly and happy to help when in need. Some of the materials are not updated and not really good to use for revisions. It will be great if online class are being recorded for easy reference when needed

    Inspiring UX Bootcamp

The depth of content that was taught over the 12 weeks was sufficient to give me some form of confidence to kickstart my new career. Moreover, the amount of support from the lecturer and career coach is really great, and that took some worries away from me. It's definitely one of the best decisions I've made in life, as it helped to grow my empathy to the next level. Highly recommended.

    Scam

You pay 17k for mostly videos when you can learn all this free on YouTube. Their job placement data is from 2020 when pandemic lead people to choose unemployment over work therefore allowed anyone to get jobs. They haven’t given certificates that aren’t recognized by jobs a month after graduation. They have dismissive reasons to argue these claims but if you’re smart enough you’ll see it’s actually bull. Most alumni don’t even have a job..

    Great course, not in UK

GA’s DSI has clearly been formulated with the distinct goal of preparing students for day 1 of being a junior data scientist.  It’s intense to the point of averaging 60+ hours a week of lessons and self study.
The instructors are brilliant, they know their stuff, are able to explain it in different ways and are on hand even outside of teaching hours to offer assistance.
Their outcomes team know the job market well and will first educate  you about and then support you through th...

    Great experience and connections

The most valuable part of this bootcamp are the connections (and friends) you make, the projects you learn to make and be added to your portfolio, and the career coach/career outcomes class. Other than that, the instructors are all extremely nice and helpful and willing to help out with any questions. The classes were fun and engaging, the homework was also fun to do and there are extra countless resources to learn more. Even now that the bootcamp is over, I am still motivated to work ha...

    A quick turn around.

I decided to have a change of career for something that I thought I would really enjoy. I did the UX design immersive course and it was incredibly enjoyable. Although it was hard work, everything was fun, interactive and engaging and I ended the course feeling like I have a very good understanding to start my new career with!

    Intense and challenging

The SEI Remote program was very challenging as I had never attempted any coding before. That being said, by the end of the program I had a solid understanding of multiple languages and frameworks. Depending on the cohort you are assigned the languages can change. My program started out with the front end languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We then learned how to make programs as a MERN stack. After a couple of projects, we moved on to work with Python and Django. Each area has about ...

    Taken advantage of

Your experience at General Assembly will largely depend on the quality of your instructors. It's really hit or miss. And in my case, it was a miss.

    1. We had one experienced instructor. The other instructors were woefully inexperienced. They were graduates of General Assembly who were brought back to teach. I believe this is a way for General Assembly to inflate their employment placement numbers.

    2. You have one week to drop the course with a full refund. Because of the o...

    Effective Data Analysis Course

I took a course called Data Analysis where i learned how to analysis data with excel, SQL and Tableau. I really liked Elise, my instructor. She was very knowledgeable and can explain concepts really well. I highly recommend this class and the instructor as well. The only draw back is this course is 10 weeks long and meets twice a week for 2 hours which is not a lot of time to learn a lot of materials so every class we were going with a pretty fast speed.

    Solid place to learn

I attended the SEI program Jan 22 through April 22.  I had limited experience when I applied to the school. I was also making a career change.  It was nerve wracking since I am a single father in my 40's. It was scary to consider the amount of time I would have to dedicate with out promise of a job once I was finished.  In looking for the right school to help me accomplish my goals I found General Assembly.  Some of the strongest benefits that attracted me to GA was that they had a curri...
