Coding Temple

Just finished the year-long software engineering residency at Coding Temple and I can't say enough good things about it. The program is the real deal. We worked on an actual production mobile app for an oil services company with real stakeholders, real deadlines, and a real team. By the end of the residency I had built out features touching React Native, Flask, Postgres, AI integration with Gemini and Claude, biometric authentication, GPS proximity verification, and offline-first sync. Nothing toy about any of it.Ellijah, Justin and Sara were a huge part of why this worked. As a teachers and mentors they were incredible support throughout the entire program. Patient with the harder concepts, sharp on code review feedback, and always available when something blocked the team. They treat students like teammates, which is exactly the energy you want when you're learning to work on real codebases.Highly recommend Coding Temple to anyone serious about transitioning into software engineering. My experience in the Coding Temple Tech Residency was genuinely great. The program gave me real hands‑on exposure to how an engineering team actually works — daily standups, agile workflows, stakeholder meetings & collaborating as a team to build a full application from start to finish. It pushed me to grow not just technically but in communication, problem‑solving & working in a fast‑moving environment.

I also want to highlight how supportive the leadership was throughout the residency. Ellijah Jimenez, our project manager, played a huge role in keeping us organized, motivated & confident. He always made sure we understood expectations, guided us through challenges & helped us stay aligned with the project goals. His mentorship made a big impact on my growth!

Austin Carlson, our intern, was also incredibly helpful. He was always available if we needed clarification, had questions, or just needed someone to walk through something with us. Having both of them there made the whole experience feel supportive & collaborative.

My tech residency with Coding Temple was an outstanding experience that gave me true, real-world exposure to professional software engineering. Over the course of 60 days, we operated in a remote agile environment, collaborating closely as a team to solve complex problems and deliver a fully functional application we are incredibly proud of.The program goes way beyond just writing code. It challenged us to think like true engineers by putting us directly into frequent stakeholder meetings. Learning how a professional development team operates, adapts to real-time feedback, and balances technical goals with stakeholder needs was invaluable. Coding Temple has taught me the necessary skills to become a software engineer, covering topics ranging from backend to frontend development in depth. The curriculum has introduced me to new, more advanced code writing while enhancing my prior knowledge. Instructors such as Yessica Sosa and Allen Ahmed are calm and informative, ready to answer any questions you have and guide you to the solution.

Taking off one star for errors in the specialization sections' lessons, there are missing parts of the code and sometimes incorrect instructions, requiring me to go outside the curriculum for explanations.

Overall, small errors in the course do not take away from the knowledge gained and the skills to change your career! Read less

I’ve had such a positive experience with Coding Temple so far. From the beginning, the program has been well-structured, supportive, and motivating. What I liked most about the program was the comprehensive, hands-on approach to learning both front-end and back-end development. The curriculum covered essential technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Python, and SQL, giving me a well-rounded foundation in full-stack development. I appreciated how the program balanced theory with practical projects—building real-world applications helped me internalize complex concepts like responsive design, state management, API development, and authentication.The focus on modern development workflows, including CI/CD with GitHub Actions and deployment strategies, prepared me for industry best practices. When I started my journey at coding temple I was unsure how it was going to go. I’d always wanted to learn but wasn’t sure if I was good enough. But the course work and information provided by coding temple really helped me and I was able to learn something I’ve always wanted. This Software Engineering Course tested me and challenged me, but I think it was for the better! I am proud of the knowledge that I gained. I believe the course does have room for potential improvement in the way of teaching up-to-date software and principles. But the instructors!! The instructors were A+ from beginning to end! Overall, I had a great experience with this program and would recommend it to anyone who is motivated and wants a faced paced software engineering program. I would recommend going into this with either a small amount of knowledge in coding and the ability to stay motivated and proactive in your learning. The instructors and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and wanted us to succeed. I mainly went through this course to learn backend, and the instructor Dylan, was extremely helpful and willing to help whenever I got stuck or needed clarification. I was a bit apprehensive going into a bootcamp as I've heard many mixed views on them ranging from, they suck - go get a degree, to they're awesome - changed my life. I can say, I am in the latter mindset, I'm excited to see where this achievement takes me and now have the tools to face any road blocks that come my way. Read less
