If you looking for switching your career with 0 tech background, don't come here!(Shanghai campus)

The classroom is setup nicely, some of the teachers are friendly and professional.
Cons:
1. The course design is unreasonable. This 10 weeks bootcamp contains Ruby on Rails and some front end courses, however, if you search junior Ruby on Rails in any job platform in China, you will find out it's less than 10. No kidding, it's not a popular backend language here at all while the course design contains most of the courses for this. And for the front end, how come the teacher only spent one day which is less than three hours to go through the Vue framework? For JavaScript is similar, a bit longer but than 3 hours but still very little.
It's very frustrated when you finally find out that you quit your job and spent your whole 10 weeks for this bootcamp, then finally they teach you something that is NOT match to the job market. Only until you finish this bootcamp and start to find a job, you will find out all out the front end job requires you at least good at Vue, React or Angular. I think if people have 0 background of coding before, then they can master Vue just in 2 hours, you're a genius and you no need to come to Le Wagon at all!
Hence, no one guide us to do our project with any framework for frontend! One of my expectation for this bootcamp is I can finish at least some presentable project and put them on my CV. However, the toy project they we made without any framework is totally unhelpful for job interview.
2. Some of the teachers here are NOT qualify to be a teacher. During the class, you will find out you paying almost 40,000 CNY(which is around 4 months of average salary of Shanghai/around 5500 EUR) for unprofessional teachers. I'd say some of them are really good as the pros that I mentioned, but some of them are not qualify. Sometimes, when you asked a simple question, the teacher/TA just don't know and said let's google it together. Which is fine at the beginning. However, sometimes it takes a long time, and they may said something really confuse you. The problem is they don't know exactly how it works, they just repeat the answer from Stack overflow. Which we can all see. I think sometimes, as a student, you're expect the teacher can explain the how it works rather than just repeat the answer. What's worse, sometimes they just asked you to check the documentation. I think it's good to learning how to check the documentation, but we spent lots of money for this bootcamp, I think it's reasonable that after I checked the documentation then I still have no answer, I can ask for help. Later on, me and some of my classmates realized that it's not because our teacher/TA are rude, it's because they don't know the answer. So they just keep saying that which makes you more confused.
As for teachers manner, I think some of them didn't receive enough training of how to be a teacher. Sometimes, they're having a conversation very loudly when we are sitting there to study. Sometimes, when you approach the teacher and want to ask the question, they saw you but just keep talking to their good friends. Which is in a very bad manner, they put their personal conversation in a higher level than their work during working hours. It's acceptable if you just go out to have your conversation and don't make some noise while people are studying. Some of the teachers even have emotional problems, you will find out they are very rude both verbally and physically. Sometimes, when we talk about this, we can just comfort each other that maybe he's in period.
3. Very limited assistance of career service. Before we join the bootcamp, we're informed that there's career service and some of our alumni joined some good company. However, finally we find out the so called career service is just teached you how to write a Linkedin profile and invited alumni to share their experience. We expected that Le Wagon may introduce and refer some web development position for us, while it turns out a PM. If you want to find a job? Please rely on your own. It's completely different as what Le Wagon Shanghai promotes, which is 93% employment rate and median salary on first job is 214k CNY. 214K is NOT for junior developer in China, I think it's very lucky if you can find a web developer position job with 15k CNY in Shanghai. As for the employment rate, my TA told me no one find a decent job as a developer after 2 months that they finished the bootcamp. For our batch, not one get hire as a developer after we completed our bootcamp.
In a nutshell, I think Le Wagon may have some good teachers and good relationship with some companies in Europe, however, please open your eyes and don't expect too much for Shanghai campus. The tech industry is very competitive in China now, if you looking for switch your career and get employ, maybe find a Chinese bootcamp is an option. I heard some of the people get hired by Accenture and Citi bank 1 week after they finished they bootcamp with half of Le Wagon's cost, and they have good projects. I really regret that I made a wrong decision and very anxious about my current situation. I wrote this for sharing my real experience and for someone who do not have tech background like me. Of course, if 40,000 CNY and 10 weeks means nothing for you, Le Wagon Shanghai is definitely worth to have a try!Overall2.0Curriculum2.0Job supportN/AInstructors2.0 -

One of the best features of the course was the student dashboard, which was exceptional. Additionally, the recorded video lessons were very helpful for reviewing the content after the course.
However, there were some negative points that I should also mention. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our group was the first to participate remotely, which may have affected the quality of learning and interaction with instructors. There was also little focus on helping students who had more difficulty learning, which was a challenge for me. The emphasis was placed on teaching Ruby on Rails 6, a web development framework that, while still popular, is not as widely used in courses and bootcamps as other more modern technologies such as Node.js or React. In addition, little time was dedicated to teaching programming fundamentals, which made understanding the course difficult.
Furthermore, the regional coordination of the company was not very inclusive, which was a bit frustrating. At the end of the course, I felt like I had not learned as much as I had hoped. Additionally, the price of the course was too high for a nine-week course.
The final project was also challenging, as it was very open-ended, and many students had difficulty successfully delivering it. It would be helpful to have a pre-defined final project based on the skills of beginner students. Additionally, there were small groups formed by students who knew more, which resulted in little help for students who knew less.
In summary, the programming bootcamp I participated in in 2020 had some positive points, such as a good student dashboard and the availability of recorded video lessons. However, there were some negative points, such as a lack of focus on teaching programming fundamentals, a framework that, while still popular, is not as widely used in courses and bootcamps as other more modern technologies, little support for struggling students, and a challenging final project. Additionally, the price of the course was too high for what was offered. I hope that this review helps other people who are looking for a programming bootcamp to make an informed decision.Overall3.0Curriculum2.0Job support1.0Instructors3.0 -

Curriculum: the bootcamp's curriculum is awesome and allows the student to get introduced to the core concepts and some of the most widely used languages in web development (on the back-end side, Ruby on Rails and on the front-end side, HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Although I did not become a master of any of these concepts and languages by the end of the bootcamp, I feel that a dedicated student will acquire a really strong foundation allowing him/her to further expand on, and to be recognized, without a doubt, as a valuable asset on the job market. The lesson/exercises dynamic is great, as there is no fooling around: the student learns and immediately practices until he/she gets it, always supported by great teachers and assistants.
Teacher / Teacher Assistants : truly a forte of the bootcamp, I was really impressed by the technical abilities, the patience and dedication of both teachers and teacher assistants. They all seemed down-to-earth, showed great support and were a joy to learn with.
Organization : I enrolled in the remote version of the bootcamp, which is the same price as the on-site version. I'd highly suggest enrolling in the latter as there is a sense of belonging to a group and a stronger emulation process (I came to this conclusion by comparing my experience with various people from other batches).
Price-point : the bootcamp is not exactly affordable, even with regards to its quality. They could, in my humble opinion, lower the price a bit. All the more, there is no real justification as to why the remote version of the bootcamp would be the same price as the on-site version.Overall4.0Curriculum5.0Job support4.0Instructors5.0 -

I started it with some background, knowing about variables, functions, and scope, but nothing more than that, I basically only knew about their existence 🤣 and maan, now if I do not know how to do something, for sure I know where to find the solution or for who to ask.
Unfortunately, I do not have another experience like this to compare with, but I can point out the strong things about Le Wagon 💪:
✔ The program works, their methodology was built for us to achieve our goals, to become a FullStack Web Developer, during the first days we learned about variables and functions, and in the last weeks we were building real web applications. You will be able of doing it in just 10 weeks, trust me! The concepts are given at their perfect time!
👨💻 You’ll save a lot of time, during the bootcamp we have a lot of challenges per day, which means we practice a lot, and if we struggle we have an entire team to help us with!
👩🏫 At there you will see that your campus have teachers, teachers assistants, manager, and many other people working for you to have a great experience, happy people that actually like what they are doing and put a lot of their good energy into it, you will have amazing emotional and technical support.
👨🎓 The final projects at bootcamp are typically completed in teams, and everyone works together to complete them. If you struggle with a particular aspect of the project, you can ask for help from the teachers or your team members. The great thing about this is that you will still be participating in its development even if you are not working on the backend. You will have an understanding of the entire stack, even if you do not want to work as a frontend or backend developer. This knowledge will be valuable, as having a frontend developer who understands some backend concepts is more valuable than one who does not. Even if you don't want to work as a frontend or backend developer, you will have ideas about how it works.
📡 The COMMUNITY is the best, many people around the world, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and digital nomads, actually started from where you are, and many of them are there to take out your doubts!
👀 Serious people there are amazing, loved it, even after the bootcamp when I had some doubts, the teachers and TAs were there for me if they have time of course!
📈 Solid logic knowledge, during the bootcamp, we learn to solve various challenges using Ruby and JavaScript. By learning these languages, it becomes much easier to learn other languages as well, because what essentially changes between one language and another is the syntax.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job supportN/AInstructors5.0 -

Majority had only finished the bootcamp and were given jobs as TA. The amount of money you pay is way too much. There are courses online that have a better structure and content. The videos are substandard. The fee is almost like a Mater's degree but the qualification you get at the end doesn't really give you added credibility. Honestly, it was a total rip off. They promise to help you with jobs. They give you "guidance" and tell you to be persistent. Only those who already have a more solid background in the Sciences/Maths/Computing will be successful after the bootcamp- and not because of the bootcamp but the degree already gained from reputable universities.
