Le Wagon London - how to blow lots of money very quickly and be left with nothing!  

At the very start of my journey to the Le Wagon London bootcamp, I was quite sceptical and had a number of phone calls and emails back and fourth with them. They of course make it sound/appear like they are the ones ‘interviewing’ you for a place on their bootcamp, giving you some false sense that this is a place where you would be lucky to be accepted.
In reality from some of the people on my cohort couldn’t even speak English properly, you would have to wonder who is really being interviewed and why? To answer this, is quite simple, and having completed the Web Dev bootcamp, you start to see the Le Wagon business model and how clever it is, not from a student perspective unfortunately. 
Let’s start with the staff, in particularly the teaching staff. As of 2023 Le Wagon doesn’t seem to have any actual teachers as you may expect - and by this I mean someone with a PGCE PCET or similar, which enables them to teach in a post compulsory environment such as this. Instead these are people that seemed to have drifted into the jobs from vastly different backgrounds - manager of a cafe for example. I’m not here to have a go at individuals and question their qualifications, I think this would be something Le Wagon would fall down on, and this goes back to the model I was talking about earlier. 
When it comes to the bootcamp itself, each day presents a mix of a lecture and challenges (75% of the time), the challenges you work on with another leaner (buddy) and are ‘assisted’ by a number of TA’s (teaching assistants). Where have these TA’s come from I hear you ask? Are these not qualified teachers, trainee lecturer's etc? No, these are people just like you, who have simply done a bootcamp and now can’t get a real tech job, but to flower their CV, and importantly make the Le Wagon model work. The issues with this are vast. Mostly as you’re not actually being ‘taught’ by professionals and then you’re not being supported by ‘professionals’. 
Don’t get me wrong, some of the TA’s were lovely people and knew how to code, but in terms of the big picture… it’s starts to become clear that straight after this bootcamp that’s promising all these job prospects, the reality is, you will be lucky to be hired by them. By the time you’ve done a bootcamp and can’t find a job, the prospect of working here probably doesn’t sound so bad and so a percentage from every cohort seems to be hired, and so Le Wagon’s wheel keeps turning. 
The course content is outdated, tired and not particularly in demand by industry in 2023. Whilst the name of the course is Web Development, we spent less than 3 days doing any front end coding in 9 weeks, and even that coverage was poor/rushed and even talked down on by two course leaders who ‘preferred back end’ 
In terms of the way the course in delivered; it’s difficult to be positive about what felt like a work in progress that they changed daily to suit some annoying students that would would turn up late and disrupt everyone else. When this was brought up, eventually they locked the door and made them wait until lunch time to enter. This took months, but which point the damage had been done. 
All in all, imo this place is a waste of your money and your time, and will not get you a job in tech that you couldn’t have got through many different routes, all of which are cheaper and quicker.

Positive experience as this bootcamp has taught me the full data science life cycle process in an easy to understand manner.

I did the 6 months part time course with Le Wagon. The part time course is great if you are still working while study but be prepared for very full on days and no days off. I learned so much during my 6 months and would def recommend. The teachers are all very helpful and the material is very good.

Working on the projects at the end is the highlight and its amazing to see your work in action. You will get as much out of this as you put in. Participate in the live codes, watch all the lectures and do your flash cards. Read less

DataScience leWagon Bootcamp - Flex Time is the perfect for those of you that have an intense schedule and are ready to spend some hours at night or weekend.

The schedule is manageable when working and dealing with family at the same time, the curriculum is very complete, you will still have to do some extra mile to understand other concepts and they encourage you to.

The challenge are at the right level of difficulty, it helps you understand the lecture, practice and get a full understanding of the topic, even if sometime you'll be pulling your hear to debug the overall thing.

Don't be afraid on the Math/Stat - this will come slowly (except if you are already used to) - They make sure to share the right documentation with you.  Read less

I liked that the bootcamp doesn't consist purely of lectures with teachers simply reading out content for the sake of it; the teachers here genuinely do care for students and build a rapport with you throughout the course of the bootcamp. From the first week there are welcome dinners, invites to talks from alumni and chats over drinks where you're welcome to ask your teachers more about their background, how they got started on coding and any advice they might have for career switchers like us.

You can sense their vested interest in your progress especially during your final few weeks coding out your project that was beyond my expectation of how supportive bootcamp teachers would be. A hundred percent recommend! Read less

Le Wagon has made my learning journey fun and enjoyable. I started my journey with Le Wagon with zero coding knowledge, but I am now interested to pick up other languages to continue my tech journey and I am certain that the curriculum has equipped me with a strong foundation required to learn other languages. The thought-provoking challenges that I had to work on daily has helped to reinforce what I have learned from the lectures. The atmosphere of learning and caring teaching and help, the challenges and the general structure of the course, making perfect logical sense and giving a deep sense of accomplishment.
The path to learn, the methodology, the community, the ease to get into it. It has felt like a flow upon which some much knowledge was integrated.

I loved the way the course is structured: despite being really fast-paced and introducing new concepts at a crazy rate, I always felt that I had space and time to make mistakes and, most importantly, had a supporting environment (from buddies, teachers and TA's) to learn from them. Read less

I enjoyed the pre-work and all the tools/ressources provide by Le Wagon. The lectures in the morning and then challengs with buddies were very good. I really liked the challenges, with the score showing the level of completion of each challenge. The last two weeks of projects were also very interesting. I would recommend it without hesitation.
