Compared to other bootcamps, Turing College stands out for its unique approach, emphasizing individualized learning experiences with support from colleagues rather than traditional classroom settings. The course is well put together and gives you a strong foundation in the data science field. The most important part of Turing College are the reviews of your work done by industry professionals. This mentoring aspect played the biggest role in my personal growth within the data science field. The fully online nature of the course is also advantageous, it makes is simpler to concurrently manage other studies or a job. Read less

 The course is a well put together mixture of available material online, the best part is that the material is well organized and the course follows a structured approach. This also includes a steady, expected continuous growth that ultimately, which means you won't be asked for things you haven't yet studied. The caveat is that most of this content is already available for free. 

Where the course and the school itself excels is the socialization part, with stand-ups, open sessions and peer reviews ingrained into the core of it. They are invaluable experiences of growth and socialization, with exchanges of ideas that can bring people closer to their goals. It doesn't happen often, but the reviewers may not be aligned say on what is important for a project and on this kind of small technicalities. The college has possibly made the best choice on this, and it's an ongoing change which hopefully will shape it for the better. 

Studying at Turing College, importantly, gives you first-hand access to many dataset and practice working with them, which constitutes the basis for a nice presentation as a candidate.  Read less

I joined Turing College with almost no coding experience at the very beginning of the college during the Covid. At Turing I gained solid foundations of software engineering, machine learning and deep learning. The combination of these skills allowed me to gain my first job in a consultancy company. 

While Turing serves as an instrumental stepping stone towards a career in data science, I acknowledge that it alone does not make you a great data science specialist, so you will need to continue learning even after the graduation. However, it stands as a transformative platform for someone who wants to enter the data science field and get the basic skills.

After Turing I decided to pursue a master's degree in data science, so I can compare Turing with traditional universities. I can assure you that Turing College will provide you with skills that are on demand in the job market, unlike universities where you learn coding with old-fashioned statistical software and many courses are deeply theoretical with little practical applications in the job market. 

Another advantage of studying in Turing is distance and self-paced learning. You can study at your preferred pace and the only "exams" you need to pass are projects at the end of each sprint where you'll receive feecback by Senior Team Leads (STLs) with profound experience in their fields. 

Lastly, while studying in Turing, you will prepare a portfolio with data science projects, a practical embodiment of your knowledge. These will definitely allow you to stand out of other DS graduates and bring and advantage during job interviews. This course exceeded my expectations. It was challenging in a good way; while it pushed me, it wasn't so overwhelming that I wanted to give up. Whenever I felt stuck or lost, there were always mentors ready to help out. The balance was just right. The course encourages you to figure things out on your own, which I believe is essential for genuine learning. Still, they're there to support you when you hit a wall. The mentors were incredibly helpful, breaking things down when necessary. They understand the importance of facing challenges to truly grasp concepts while ensuring you're not left behind. I would highlight a few things that Turing College provides that are essential whether you are upskilling or completely turning your career around. One of the best things that Turing College provides is the community that is very motivating and helpful. I was completely changing my career, thus this path was not easy, but the community helped me stay focus and work towards my goals. I have studied in a lot of different online bootcamps and schools (datacamp, edx, coursera, etc). Turing College was the most useful for the following reasons:
1. Projects reviewed by industry professionals. The way that learning works in Turing is as follows: curriculum is spilt into sprint, each sprint is a topic (A/B testing, Cohorts, etc). In each sprint after completing the theory, you have to do a practical projects. Then these practical projects are graded by an industry professional during an 1-on-1 meeting. A lot of other bootcamp miss this human touch, a professional that can tell you why you approach is ok, but may run into maintenance issues in the future and such.
2. A flexible learning model. There are no classes so you can learn wherever and whenever you want. There are deadlines for each sprint of course and you have to meet with your batch in weekly standups. But even standups have 2-3 times to choose from each week, so it very very flexible.
3. Community. Community is not a nice to have, but an essential part of the learning experience. You have to participate in weekly standups, you have to do project reviews for other learners or you won’t be able to progress with your own material, you have to help other people in discord (this one is not mandatory, but if you won’t help other, other won’t help you). You make friends and a lot of good connections this way.
4. Help getting employed. One of the main selling points of Turing is that ~97% or something like that people get employed no longer than 6 months after graduation, so they are very interested to keeps this number up. They help to setup you linkedin and github, search for roles and get ready for interviews. They are partners with a lot of different companies that help create the curriculum, so Turing will make sure that you get employed. I got hired while still studying.

There are a few topics I would like to share. The whole idea of studying online, at your own pace is fantastic. You can go to the topic as deep as you want since they are providing additional material and you always can ask team leads during weekly standups for additional information. You do not stay alone, there is always somebody eager to help you. I like the fact that students would check the works of other students who are on a lower stage of learning - because this is how I would learn and get different possible ways of finishing the work you are asked for. Amazing community to study with, Turing College gives possibility to everyone to grow and learn new things. Does not matter how old are you, or what is your background - they will help you reach your goal. This is not another one-month-course school, this is a place where you will learn how and why. So far, so good. I chose Turing College because it’s time-flexible. I can work and study while being able to effectively delegate my time. It’s less stressful because of the support of the staff, team leads, and ever-growing community that I am able to comprehensively dive into the curriculum. I found Turing college by accident, via an advertisement, it catched my notice by promising quite substantial results in a quick time, which usually sounds like a scam. But my ego got the better of it and I applied to it. Fast forward 7 months, I have a job as a Junior Data analyst and a good knowledge about data analytics thanks to Turing college, they teached me the basics of data analysis and fundamentals of it, yes it was not easy but definitely worth if. As the pandemic unfolded, I pursued a career change for stability and the prospect of remote work. Despite my passion for numbers and experience in revenue management, the phrase "print("Hello, World")" didn't resonate; my calculations were confined to Excel. Surprisingly, within approximately 10 months, I progressed from coding novice to laughing at programmers' jokes and excelling at a data analysis task using Jupyter Notebook in Python, assigned by my employer.

The journey had its challenges. I grappled with loops, found lengthy statistics courses daunting, and stumbled through my initial machine learning project, experiencing moments of frustration and even shedding a few tears. However, I honed the skill of rapid learning, a practice I continue to apply daily. I embraced self-research, a skill extending beyond technical learning, and sharpened my analytical prowess through feedback loops.

Notably, the guidance and expertise of the Senior Team Leads (STLs) at Turing College were instrumental in my learning journey. Their mentorship and domain knowledge were invaluable, guiding my transition from an Excel practitioner to a proficient Python user.

I have been studying Data Science in Turing College for about 10 months. I am now done with all of the madatory material which goes up to Machine Learning.
Turing College has the best materials and projects for a rich and deep learning journey. It demands a lot of studing but the end result is so worth it.

It's been 2 months since I started learning at Turing College and so far it has exceeded my expectations.

What's great about it?

• Self-paced learning: you are in charge on when to study and how much time to dedicate, so you are in control of your progress
• Study material: the material is well-structured and easy to follow, even if you are a complete beginner. The course is made out of Modules which are split into Sprints which are further split into Parts. So step-by-step, part-by-part, sprint-by-sprint you build the skillset necessary for a Data Analyst. This way it doesn't feel overwhelming for a beginner to tackle a completely new topic/software
• Peer-to-peer reviews: this was one thing that I was anxious about when deciding if I'd like to join Turing - how could I as a student review and rate others' work? Turns out, there was nothing to worry about and in fact, it's a great learning tool:
  1. You refresh your own knowledge on the subject you have already passed
  2. You learn new tricks from others that you haven't known yourself
  3. You truly see that there is no one correct answer and appreciate numerous different approaches to the same project
  4. You meet many enthusiastic learners and share your experiences
  5. You get to share tips and tricks which help others to improve
  6. You get to be part of the success story of the other learner, feeling proud when you see the system notification saying that they passed the project successfully
• Online support: I have tried self-paced online courses before, but none provided the sufficient support, while at Turing College you can get it in multiple ways:
  1. Stand-ups: in weekly stand-ups you meet other learners and each get to ask a question and then discuss with the group
  2. Open sessions: multiple sessions are available throughout a day where you can log on, ask a dedicated person a question, get help, and then jump back to studying. Those who prefer to study over the weekends are not left alone - there are open sessions on Saturdays and Sundays as well.
  3. Discord: I have never seen an online community which supports its peers so much - all you need to do is drop a message in Discord asking for help and you'll get it, usually you won't even need to wait for 5 minutes, learners come to each other's aid without hesitation. Couple of times I saw a pop-up about a new message, went immediately to respond, but while I was typing someone else beat me - it's that fast. 
• Project reviews: it's a great way to ensure that you are making good progress and get feedback:
  1. Peer reviews: it's great to get a second pair of eyes on your project from a fellow learner who has already passed the same project. They notice things you might have missed and share the knowledge they gained while working on the project. They also help ensure that your project is ready to take to the Senior Team Lead review.
  2. Senior Team Lead reviews: having a 1-2-1 review with STL has been really valuable so far. Not only do they have a vast knowledge on the subject, they can also share best practices that happen in 'real world' as opposed to textbooks. 
• Deadlines: while having a pressure of deadlines is not my favourite thing in life, so far it's helped me stay motivated and ensure I progress at a good pace, something I haven't experienced in any other self-paced learning places

Overall, I'm very happy to be studying at Turing College and would definitely recommend it to others. Read less

I sought something beyond the basics, and Turing College caught my eye. After learning more about their program I started with high expectations and remarkably, they were not just met but exceeded. Currently, I'm pursuing the data engineering path. The aspect I appreciate most is the hands-on projects, which are challenging yet rewarding. They demand significant effort, but it's gratifying to see my skills and understanding grow rapidly. The course includes peer reviews as well as individual reviews and stand-ups led by specialists with years of industry experience, which I find exceptionally valuable. Networking is another highlight. We constantly have opportunities to connect with peers, share experiences, challenges, and even fun moments. The community's welcoming nature allows you to be as social as you wish. Halfway through the course, I've already accomplished more than I initially set out to do. I haven't started the endorsement process yet, but I found a new job in DE while studying, and Turing College has indirectly been a great help to me.
