The course content is good for beginners who have just entered the tech space and lack practical experience coding. And the mentors are very helpful and detailed in their explanations and lectures. But to be honest, the Joburg campus is a bit understaffed which forces students to be more self reliant when solving problems that aren't too challenging. And since Django happened to update it's framework during my course, completing Level 2 became more time consuming since our mentors had to relearn parts of Django with us students.

Other than that it's a decent course for people who don't know how to code, just be ready to not have a social life for those 3 to 6 months. Read less

With this self-paced course, you get engaging lessons, expert instructors who make even the most challenging software engineering topics simple, and an excellent resource for getting a head start on your career. I do not recommend this institution, there is better content in Udemy courses for way less than a Quarter of the price. The structure of the course is unorganized as lessons are only taught after you are required to do the task. The chance of you getting an entry level job is very low after doing the course as they do not teach you enough content. The mentors are overworked with meetings booked weeks in advanced, and there is an average of 1 - 2 weeks wait time for assistance as there are no slots open. Assistance is basically none existent. I do not blame the mentors as they have a number of students to mark. I blame the institution for biting off more than they can chew. Having finished the course more than a year ago, I did not have enough experience to do the job that I have now. I spent days studying and learning off Udemy courses and other sources which gave me the knowledge and confidence to do the job. Read less

The experience was good although there are a few things that I was abit unhappy with. I felt the communication was abit slow, perhaps due to the amount of students versus the mentors, but it did slow me down abit because it took a while to get help when I was stuck. As someone who did not know anything about Software Engineering, The Hyperion dev team involved in the Software Engineering Course was extremely helpful. Not only did they make it easier to understand , they also were very interactive with their learners . The only down side I have is that, the dates of the submission for the tasks are to little . Some tasks are quite big and require a lot of time  and they only give you like 2 days to complete it. Besides that , My experience was quite good. Read less

I enrolled in the three-month data science course. If you consider doing it, do yourself a favour and not waste your time. The whole curriculum is a nightmare. After a reasonably relaxed introduction to Python, you will be overwhelmed by the data science tasks. The lecturers barely have tangential knowledge about data science. Therefore, you will spend most of your time on Youtube. The learning material is brilliant for Python and useless for data science. You will always be asked if you have questions. However, when you ask a question, the lecturer will excuse himself that this is not his field of expertise. Numpy, one of the most important libraries used in Python for data science, is technically ignored. My advice is: look for a different course. Read less

I recently completed an online full stack web development bootcamp and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The course material was comprehensive and covered everything from HTML and CSS to JavaScript and backend development frameworks. Going through a career change during covid wasn't easy but I have always been interested in the tech market, so I did research for software engineering courses through universities, however, eventually I decided to go through a coding bootcamp for a quicker transition into the tech industry. Attending HyperionDev made the work challenging but I believe through the hard work and effort from the staff, students, and myself that my experience was worth it. I am still a work in progress but I feel comfortable to jump into the tech industry.

As a past student from hyperion I thoroughly enjoyed my time at hyperion. it was a challenging experience that required a great amount of grit and tenacity to push through

Pros: 1.industry level work and projects that build your experience while learning how to program in the process

2.quality lectures ready to assist at anytime and in my opinion tought me well in what I wanted to learn

3.gives you good fundamentals in programming and coding as a whole with teaching me Java and python and various other frameworks

4. Landed my dream job 4months later earning top dollar.

Cons:1. Was marketed as a 3 month bootcamp when in total it took me 6 months which wasn’t a problem for me but if you are expecting it to be 3 months think again and plan accordingly.

2. Parking at the Cape Town location was horrible if you are planning on doing the in person bootcamp make sure you have extra money for parking each day or make lift arrangements 

3.structure could have been a bit better as there wasn’t really a schedule to follow you just wait for the lectures to tell you when to come in

4. The last level of the bootcamp was in my opinion useless as it introduces us to a topic that has its own designated bootcamp (machine learning and data science) there’s no way you can mention that you have experience in that part on your CV with only doing 5 tasks on that topic. I personally feel that section needs to be relooked at

What an amazing experience!

It’s been an absolute joy to be able to study here. 

The study materials, staff and mentors I can’t but give it all a 5 out of 5.

The mentors really take their time to help you understand a subject at hand and freely give extra resources when you still don’t understand something completely.

The materials are also on point. Before I joined I asked people (all of whom are in the tech industry and some even owning their own tech companies) and all of them said to go for it, loving the in-person-review that HyperionDev boasts with.

Once in the course, they definitely didn’t disappoint with all the hype.
