The Data Science Immersive provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to get a job as a data scientist – which requires a mix of software engineering, statistical understanding, and the ability to apply both skills in new and challenging domains. The program will teach students to gather data, apply statistical analysis to answer questions with that data, and make their insights and information as actionable as possible. Our pedagogy ensures not only job readiness for today’s market, but the aptitude and skills to keep learning and stay relevant. At Flatiron School, students learn by building. Students will come away with an advanced Portfolio Project to demonstrate their technical proficiency and creativity to current or future job managers and hiring leads. Our course dedicates three weeks towards completion of a large-scale data science and machine learning project where students work in groups of two. The project provides an in-depth opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning accomplishments and get a feel for what working a large-scale data science project is really like.

Being a software engineer requires more than knowing how to code or build a web app. Over 15 challenging weeks on Flatiron School’s campus, students learn to think, and build, like software engineers — from developing coding proficiency to gaining an understanding of how products are designed and managed. In each three-week curriculum module, students develop key skills through interactive labs, lectures, and close collaboration, showcasing progress through Portfolio Projects. While the bulk of the material covered encompasses the Ruby and JavaScript ecosystems, we carefully designed our curriculum to prepare students to launch software engineering careers, independent of any specific language or technology. By the completion of the program, students have done much more than simply build technical skills: they have maintained technical blogs to show they can credibly talk tech; they have become a part of the tech community; they have amassed an impressive portfolio of unique, functional web applications to show employers as they enter the job-search phase with the support of our Career Services team.

Fully delivered what was promised. I completed the data science course All my classmates had strong professional or academic credentials. Instructors were Joe, Sean, and Fangfang. All were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and had real world experience. I left with all the skills of a data scientist. They put me with Diane as my job coach. She was phenomenal, went above and beyond. I happen to know that the sentiments are shared among all of her students. Diane said to expect the job search to take about 60 days. I got an offer 65 days later, from my first choice job lead, which Diane found for me. The salary is more than what Flatiron boasts as their average starting on their placement stats. Overall very happy. Paid the tuition, learned what was promised from great instructors. Got placed in a great job. A+++

I graduated from the Immersive Software Engineering course in Denver 3 weeks ago, and accepted an offer as a software engineer at a startup last week. I had zero coding experience when I started, and now feel confident that I have a stable base of knowledge from which to learn more and work in the field.

The Denver program specifically is an incredible environment that fosters cooperation, learning, and a culture of inclusion and acceptance. The head instructor, Kyle Coberly, is just as into education theory as he is into teaching coding, so the program is structured in a way that caters to students. It's not easy in any way, but there aren't unnecessary barriers, and the instructors are always willing to schedule one-on-ones, have extra lessons, and support different learning styles.

Personally, I feel like this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I was 15 years into a business operations career when I decided to change my life and pursue software engineering, and I haven't regretted it.

They promised to provide 850 hours of quality instructions, instead we got only about 40 hours in total poor quality video instructions followed by self teaching expectations.  So, basically they want you to learn everything on your own.Does not worth the money at all. No career guidance, no workshops. DO NOT BELIEVE bot powered 5 star reviews.

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for this feedback—we take feedback like this very seriously.

This is certainly very different than how we want students to feel at Flatiron School, and the experience you're describing is not what we want for any student.

I’d like the opportunity to speak with you directly about your experience — feel free to reach out to me at rebekah@flatironschool.com.

I must say that I am very disappointed in Flatiron UX/UI bootcamp. I’ve been working in Graphic Design area for the last three years and I’ve signed up for this program after many hours of research and comparison hoping to learn from experienced UX/UI designers coming from the field, presentations from quest speakers, and sponsored workshops as listed in the contract but unfortunately none of them happened.  I highlighted the items from the contract, which were not provided at all.
Please find below list of provided instructional class hours:
    -       Phase 1: 6 weeks 6x15min=90 minutes
    -       Phase 2: 6 weeks 6x120min=720 minutes
    -       Phase 3: 4 weeks 4x20min=80 minutes
So, in total it makes about 15 hours + several short recorded videos and makes up less then 1/50 of the promised 810 total clock hours (everything is recorded).
Moreover, some of the workshops quality was well below than described in the contract.
Based on all reasons listed above, it is obvious that this program did not deliver services described in the contract and definitely is not worth $15,000.

My time at Flatiron was one of the best experiences of my life. I was constantly pushed and learning new things. Learning there was not rigid, like in a traditional educational environment, but rather it was encouraged for me to ask my own questions and pursue projects that interested me. Also, I was surrounded by such wonderful people who were also curious and driven. The networking opportunities that I gained from it were really invaluable to me, as someone who is brand new to the tech industry.

I was fortunate enough to find a job one month after I graduated. Within six months, I have learned so much, made some amazing friends, and doubled my salary. This experience has truly changed my life.

Flatiron was great for me. Because it is self-paced, the online program allowed me to start slow while I was working full time and ramp up once I resigned from my job to focus on the program. Every person I encountered from instructors to coaches to fellow students was nice and helpful. I found the progression of the curriculum logical and, even after starting with little programming experience, I was able to complete projects independently. I landed a job within a month of graduating. I owe my knowledge and success largely to Flatiron.

I was a student before deciding to try another coding bootcamp. Flatiron was fined by the NY Attorney General in 2017 for operating without a license and inflating their data on employment figures. For a school that teaches data science, it’s awfully shady that they wrongfully publish deceptive statistics. The instructors also come across as nonchalant and greedy, without an actual care about others. Avoid this school at all costs.

Attending Flatiron School was a great decision for me in starting my career as a Web Developer. The campus and staff were all very supportive and open. Additionally, the other students were all dedicated, helpful, and genuinely passionate about code. The learning materials were very accessible through Flatiron's Learn platform, and there was no shortage of additional practice/labs. I genuinely felt that any questions or concerns I had were heard and addressed in a timely manner, and the overall support to push oneself in a new field was crucial to my progress.

I did a lot of research on bootcamps before landing at Flatiron, quite honestly overall it seemed the best choice at the time. Would I make the same choice? absolutely! I won't lie it was very difficult but calm seas don't make good sailors! I feel as though I'm stronger not only as a person but as a developer. The fast pace learning was intense at first, it felt like a pie eating contest where the prize was more pie. After you hit a groove and trust the process it shaped me to become a fast learning developer. You really learn how to learn. 1 month after graduating I was able to pickup python and mongoDB like it was nothing because of this ability to have learning down to a science. All the friendships in my cohort and with my instructors are strong and have not faded. The support post graduation is just as strong as when I was attending. They leave you with the tools to continue on and spark the drive to want to dive deeper. I love flatiron 3000.
