Nucamp is a part-time, 22-week full stack web and mobile development bootcamp in underserved communities across the U.S. and online. Nucamp offers a hybrid learning experience where students learn online during the week, and meet in-person with their instructor and classmates on the weekends. Nucamp is on a mission to make quality education affordable with the low cost of online learning paired with the motivation and support offered by in-person bootcamps. Nucamp also offers a 4-week introduction bootcamp teaching the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as a 17-week front end web and mobile development bootcamp.

There are up to 12 students per class, and one dedicated instructor. Students learn languages such as Javascript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, NodeJS, React, React Native, and MongoDB. Students will work in smaller teams of two to four to collaborate throughout the course and receive important feedback. By the end of the program, students will be capable of taking a project from its inception to developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and move it to a large-scale implementation.

Admission is open to all. To apply for the bootcamp, complete Nucamp's online registration form.

For the most part, I felt like I understood everything, although occasionally I felt lost. I really enjoyed the instructional videos. I thought they were very thorough & understandable. I think I could have used more chances to write code on my own that provided an explanation after I attempted the code myself. For example, during the code challenges, it would be nice if the answers were provided. In the end, although I was pretty sure I understood everything, I didn't feel very confident to start writing code on my own.

I am currently in a react-native portion of the full stack course. The whole course revolved around building the same website first using bootstrap, then using react and then react-native. The course videos are sub-par and you will end up learning from googling a lot. The video only talks about the nucamp website you are building so if you want to build something on your own, you will feel lost. Min(the instructor in the video) does a poor job in explaining the content and most of the time you will feel like a code-monkey.
The in-person instructors care a lot and really want you to learn, however you are slammed with so much information that it will be hard for the instructor to catch up. I am not done with the course yet, I think the course is a good introduction but it is not good enough to get a job unless you have programmed before. The bootstrap course is easy but the longest, the react and react-native course are confusing and still given less time.

I chose Nucamp because I work full-time and most other coding camps require way too much time during the week.  Nucamp was the best of both worlds with the hybrid structure.  I also appreciated the cost since most bootcamps were much, much more.  I really liked the weekend in-person sessions; I felt that is where I learned the most because I was able to take the week's work and learn from it with peers.

I recently took the Web Development Fundamentals course offered at Nucamp and I would definitely recommend the course to others wanting to explore into the career of web development. The course is very affordable and is taught by very mindful instructors that are there for you to learn.

I chose Nucamp because its a good hybrid between in-person bootcamps and being self-taught. Having the weekly structure gives you accountability and encourages you to stay at a productive pace. The instructor was phenomenal and having other people in the course enables you to work together; so you are never alone no matter what skill level you are. This bootcamp definitely doesn't spoon feed you (a very good thing!) and it will definitely challenge you so you have to come in with the willingness to learn, struggle, and grow. Its a great program, but you also can't expect them to tell you EVERYTHING. There's a lot to learn so having additional supplemental material from other sources will boost your learning experience even more!

As a beginner, this course of HTML CSS and Js was a good start to gain confidence and a lot of knowledge.

The video tutorials left a little to be desired, but our instructor (Naasir) continually fed us pdfs and additional video links to further our understanding. I feel like the price is fair for what you get--it's an intro course but it's VERY immersive. I'd pay for a "Part 2" intro course if they offered one, just so when I went into Bootstrap, etc., I'd be even more prepared.

NuCamp is great for the working professional trying to transition careers.  Much like every other self guided class, this is very much "you get out of it what you put into it" and some students fail to see that.  If you're going into this thinking that you will learn everything from the workshops, you're not going to do well.

Take the time during the week to study and ask questions on the message boards!  The weekly classes on Saturdays is where all of the "light-blub" moments will happen.  Alira is an awesome instructor!

Thanks!
