Your classmates become your friends and cheerleaders! Working in teams is common in this class and really helps to build valuable skills that can only come from actually doing the work, guys. The instructors were passionate about teaching the curriculum, and the TAs were helpful when I got stuck. One of the best parts about the bootcamp is the hands-on learning. It allowed us to make mistakes and learn from them. The program was a chance for me to acquire new skills and hone any existing ones. In addition, I understood the emphasis on teamwork, as web developers often collaborate. You get what you put in, so put the time and effort to practice what you learned in the classroom.

First and foremost was the quality of the instructional team and the curriculum. I found the instructors to be knowledgable, effective communicators invested in student success. Every week I had multiple positive interactions with members of the instructional team. The curriculum is relevant and the time I invested in this course has given me a wide range of skills in the field of web development. Some of you might ask why should I take this course over simply teaching myself through online resources? The answer is simple. Team work is essential if you wish to make this your profession. Georgia Techs Full Stack program gives students the opportunity to collaborate together and you simply will not find this opportunity if you are only focused on individual learning. Next, the collective experience of the instructional team is invaluable. If you are motivated to learn you will get value out of this course. The curriculum will push you in ways you would probably not push yourself, the instructors will challenge you, the TA's will guide you, and your fellow students will work with you. Career Services is excellent do not forget to take advantage of this. Lastly, you get out what you put in. Put in the time and effort, believe in yourself, and you won't be disappointed.

Speaking as someone attending the course with little to no prior coding experience I was very, very pleased with the everything. The Instructors were highly knowledgeable they and the TAs were all a great group of people. They were all displayed a real passion for the subject matter and were all very approachable and willing to to help out. I learned more in a short period of time than I would have thought possible. The only drawback to the course was the job assistance simply because at times the schedule for those events conflicted with class times, making it hard to keep up with the course material and the career services material.

Our primary stack was MongoDB, Express, React, and Node (MERN). We learned several other languages/libraries in support/additon to those previously mentioned. Yes the class was challenging, fast paced and frustrating at times and I throughly enjoyed it. The bootcamp is very up front about learning being your responsibility but with that said there is a lot of support to help you succeed. My instructor was kind and helpful. The TA's (teaching assistance) provided great encouragement and direction. The student success manager (SSM) went out of her way to listen to me vent and provide helpful resources. My class-mates (cohort) were (still are) good people and were more than willing to assist when possible. As our class progressed the structure/layout of information and assistance improved. Also included in the course I could sign up for a one hour weekly one-on-one tutoring sessions with a seperate tutor. This I found extremely helpful. The only overall con is that there is no guarantee of a job but there is career coaching that continues after graduation.

Overall, I had a great experience. My instructor, Devang, was really good. He was always willing to spend time with students, whether it be going over difficult concepts or talking about neuroscience and AI. He's very approachable, and doesn't make you feel less of a student if you ask "dumb" questions. The course itself is very fast: one minute you're learning Python, then it's SQL then Python then Front End then Machine Learning. I wish there was more time dedicated to Machine Learning, specifically Neural Networks. However, the class gave me a SOLID foundation where I now don't feel intimidated in trying to learn a new library or language or package, or any other tool. The biggest thing I got from this class is the CONFIDENCE to pick up a new tool and run with it. In terms of time spent, even though it's a part time course I basically treated it as a full time commitment. There is so much learning beyond the homeworks and activities for you to do.
The area that can be better is the job assistance. One thing I've seen in other boot camps is guest speakers from companies or alumni talking about their path and roles; Once the data science program solidifies, GT should absolutely invite past alumni who have data science/analytics roles to speak IN CLASS about their experience, commitment, outside learning, i.e. what they did to get that new role. As the student, the onus is really on you to get that new position but it would certainly help to know the expectations that come along, and the time commitment required. I've also seen other bootcamps with a job checklist, where the student reports on a weekly basis a schedule of jobs applied for and feedback received. More networking opportunities during the course would also be great! The demo day was really the only opportunity GT provided for networking, and we were mixed in with the other non data science cohorts. Most of the employers that attended were looking for web devs so that was a bit of a bummer. You are allowed to attend other demo days, but only as a networking student. In my cohort, a few of us got jobs right before or soon after graduation. Although I'm now a TA for said course, in the end I do feel confident I will get a job.

We appreciate your review, Haroon! We're glad to hear you had a great experience and gained the confidence to approach and master new data tools — we also think Devang is pretty great.
We understand you would have preferred guest speakers or alumni to come in and speak to the class, as well as additional networking opportunities. Related to this, we received student feedback from your cohort that prompted us to transition in-person speaking events to an online format, where individuals can access and review any and all recordings following each live session. We enjoy connecting alumni with current participants who are attending the program and do host a "Share Your Story" webinar, where previous learners relay their own boot camp experience and lessons learned. Did you find these resources to be useful? Your experience does not end on graduation day, as learners are supported with a range of professional development assistance for 90 days after graduation. If you would like to connect with your Career Director for any continued one-on-one support, please reach out directly at (404) 719-5481.
We're constantly refining our career services curriculum to best equip participants as they step out into the industry, so we truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you for returning to TA for us and congratulations on completing the course! We wish you continued success in all your future endeavors. -

I walked in with some knowledge of how HTML worked, and that was pretty much it. I walked away with a confirmation in knowing that I wanted to pursue programming, specifically in data analytics, which was something I was originally interested in before taking this bootcamp. I am now taking a few online GT class in data analytics and the lessons I learned in this bootcamp is invaluable to what I am learning now.
Sure, I won't be able to directly apply the web development skill that I acquired in the new direction that I am taking in data analytics, but I learned many programming skills and how to be in the mindset of being a programmer. Jacob stressed many times that it's not knowing and utilizing one specific language but being to able to apply the baseline programming knowledge in order to carry out the task in any given language that you would need to use. I skipped a few Python and R prereqs to take the classes I am taking now, but the base that Jacob helped me establish has been a lifesaver. You will learn this lesson and many others in the bootcamps offered.
The biggest plus to this bootcamp was obviously the instructor and the TAs. The instructors are hugely knowledgeable and experienced in what they teach. You will gain three (or four, if you use their tutoring system) hard working and passionate coders who take your learning very seriously. If you are stuck on an issue, they will stay and risk missing their bus (!) and help you out. They are incredibly accomodating people as well.
I would recommend anyone who are interested in learning how to develop websites with a full-stack mentality to take this course. To be honest, I would recommend it if you weren't even looking to be in the field. I took so much away without even interested in the field.

I wanted to better understand my customers and leverage data to make informed decisions. GA tech data science gave me the tools to do so and more, it exceeded my expectations. I was very nervous at the beginning as i had no programming experience, OMG! I cannot believe I made it successfully! This is why I give this bootcamp a 5 stars review:
The curriculum is RICH and relevant to the data science industry yet very challenging. Challenging is an understatement for someone with no prior experience in the field. But the instructional staff, the TA's and the support system around the students are always available to help. My favorite part of the program was working in teams for projects with other students. Students are from so many different industries and background, that working together made me discover different approaches to tackle projects, solve problems and put in practice what i learned. I will definitely miss the projects. Everything was not perfect as we had challenges with scheduling and changes in the course content at times which was frustrating. Overall the staff handled these issues well and i definitely recommend Georgia Tech Data Science and Analytics Boot Camp. Just make sure you can put in the work and the time if you want to join, also seek help when you need it.

I wanted to know, what you want to know, and that is simply.. is it worth the time and money. As a new graduate (Feb.2019) of GA Tech Coding Bootcamp, I can assure you its worth it!
I came into the program with prior coding experience, HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery (basics). This helped me for sure, but you're not required to have any prior experience coding to be successful. I sat alongside students that had never coded before, and they are now capable of building full stack web applications.
The curriculum is well thought out, very detailed and challenging. We covered the MERN stack, which is MongoDB, Express, React, and nodeJS. We also covered HTML, CSS, Javascript, Jquery, SQL, Heroku, GIT and much much more.
You get out what you put in, while the staff does a phenomenal job introducing you to various coding topics. You will have to dedicate time to study and complete homework/projects to get as much out of this course as possible. They stressed networking with classmates to form study groups and lean on each other to be successful. I've met some really incredible people during my time at the boot camp.
The staff at the Ga Tech Coding Bootcamp are really amazing people. They are patient, kind, engaging, and always willing to help you with anything! From the instructors to the TA's everyone there is incredibly supportive. Career services are optional, I encourage anyone attending to opt in. They offer assistance with resume building, social media sites such as LinkedIn, and interview sessions. They also offer post-graduation support.
TLDR; I just graduated the GA TECH CODING BOOTCAMP. I had the most amazing time learning to code. I met some really amazing people while I was there! I can build some really cool full stack websites/web applications. I came back to the same site, I initially started my search to tell you to GO FOR IT!

In Haiti, I worked as a computer technician, and I always had an interest in technology. My natural knack for languages combined with my interest in tech lead me to programming. I started taking some courses on Free Code Camp to grow my programming skills. But, I soon realized that if I wanted to find a job as a software engineer in a new country, I needed to formalize my skills and experience.
I saw an ad about the GA Tech Coding Bootcamp, and I was immediately interested because of GA Tech’s outstanding reputation. Getting a Full Stack Flex Web Development Certificate from GA Tech ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve made. I was able to secure an internship, which led to my first job, and now I work as a full-time software engineer for a major company in Atlanta, GA.
The program exceeded my expectations. The instructors and TAs were excellent and very invested in my success. The program focuses on all the core coding languages, including the MERN Stack. We completed a total of three projects that became part of my portfolio of work examples. I really appreciated the in-person learning environment. And, students who are struggling can receive a tutor. I’ve seen students completely turn around and make huge progress with the help of a tutor.
This is a program where you have every opportunity to succeed. It truly requires an investment on the part of the student to put in the work, but you have an excellent support system along the way.

The boot camp excels in giving students plenty of hands on experience, but there isn't a whole of explanations of how things are working in the background. There is a whole of information to digest and I guess that's where the independent learning comes in. We appreciate your review, Zack. We're glad to hear you gained invaluable coding experience and benefited from the hands-on projects!
We understand you would have liked to spend more time delving into the background explanations. Like you mentioned, the program is fast-paced and designed to cover multiple topics in a limited amount of time. Because of this, subjects are introduced at a high level in-class, and you are absolutely right that individuals are expected to dive in through independent learning after class — not only to gain a deeper understanding but also to practice their skills. Each lesson iteratively builds on the last, and we find that as the curriculum progresses, participants feel more and more confident in the material.
It's true that the job search is difficult and requires hours of effort on the part of our learners. While we do not secure direct employment for individuals, we do work hard to prepare them to step out into the job market. We help participants become employer competitive through a variety of resources and tools, including technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, online Tech Talk panels, and one-on-one meetings with their Career Director, as well as instructor-led office hour interview prep sessions.
We are committed to making sure our learners feel confident in their skills upon graduating, so we'd love to hear from you directly to see what else we can do at this time to best meet your expectations. If you would like, please reach out to us at (404) 369-3107. We wish you all the success going forward! -

Since I was already tech savvy and just needed some guidance and a good foundation for Full Stack web development I started doing my research. I looked at all the different opportunities there were in Atlanta for a boot camp and landed on GA Tech's Part-Time Full Stack Web Development boot camp. Of course, I was weary as some can be when it comes to boot camps. You never know what you may end up with. I can tell you this, I am already looking at enrolling in a secondary boot camp through GA Tech because the experience I had in my part-time full stack boot camp was just that amazing!
First off, let me just say boot camps are not for the faint of heart. If you are not serious about learning a new skill to advance your career or start a new career, boot camps are not for you. If you are serious though, this is your bootcamp. It takes dedication, sacrifice and focus to make it through this bootcamp. But you are not doing it alone.
My instructional staff consisted of 2 instructors and 4 teaching assistants. It was intimidating at first having these 6 individuals with so much knowledge and there I was almost clueless except for some very rudimentary knowledge of HTML and CSS. However, the light and airy demeanor my instructional staff had from day one really eased the intimidation. They showed they really wanted to help us learn and succeed at these new skills we were learning. Never once did I feel that I was incompetent due to the reactions or comments from the instructors. The instructional team really excelled at creating a safe and inviting environment for learning. The instructors had complete control and extensive knowledge of the content in my course. They also showed us they were human and even top developers that have been in this field for 10+ years still had to research things when issues arose. It is an ever changing field and almost impossible to remember every single rule and exception in programming. The way the instructors structured the course material was also very helpful for my learning.
We started with HTML, moved to CSS and then got into the fun stuff, JavaScript. They told us the course was not going to be easy and boy were they right. Every week we had to create a new web application. We worked on our HTML skills from day one and then added CSS. After that, every assignment involved us building on our HTML and CSS skills while still learning more and more JavaScript. Every week was a new challenge and a new topic that we were able to build on. Because each assigment built on the last we had the repition of building a web application from scratch helping engrain the basics in our habits. As the weeks went by it all got easier and by a third of the way through I felt comfortable enough to begin trying new things on my own. They empowered us by teaching us in this manner. We, as students, were empowered and knew enough and had best practices in place to start venturing out on our own and succeed in our independent learning.
Once we had learned the basics of JavaScript and gotten into intermediate JavaScript we were on to more exciting technologies. Non-relational databases, socket.io for live messaging apps, relational databases, APIs and css-frameworks. It was a full immersion in a strong and well rounded web development curriculum. After so many weeks of hard work it was fun learning new things and finally seeing it all work together to build a true full-stack application. Then we finally got to the JavaScript React.js. This was where it got really fun and decent bit easier.
If you are on the fence, go ahead on hop off and choose the GA Tech bootcamp. If you put the time in and fully immerse yourself you will not regret it. The instructional staff truly cares about the success of their students and wants each and everyone of the students. If someone fell behind slightly our instructors were there to help us get back on course and start succeeding again. I can't reccomend this program enough. Enroll, put in the time and hardwork, and I can promise you will not regret it. One of the best decisions of my life. The content and lessons I learned in this boot camp will stay with me forever. I understand programming now but also how to aproach teaching myself new material after completing the course so I can continue to grow.

My career has been heavily focused in analytics, yet I've only scratched the surface - heavy excel models, crude database solutions, and some sql/reporting. For years, I knew I wanted to dive deeper into statistics, programming, and tools. Fast forward to the GT Data Science & Analytics Bootcamp. This course was the perfect career move. We covered every topic I was interested in, and I left with skills I would not have developed otherwise. I'm now proficient in python, tableau, sql, machine learning, and other development. Coupling these technical skills with my career trajectory enabled me to land a position at a prestigious Atlanta consulting firm. Without this bootcamp, I would not have even been considered for the position. If you want to sharpen your career... sign up.

He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to very clearly explain very complicted and complex concepts. The material covered is very difficult but if you put in the time you will be very successful in this course. The full time course was very fast paced and I put in about 35-40 hours outside of class.
You get out of this course what you put in. You are given so many resources to help you succeed. Work hard and it will pay off, trust me! Go to office hours everytime you have questions and the instructor and TAs will be there to assist you. Go home and re-work the activities in class and hammer the material into your brain.
MY BIGGEST TIP: GO TO DEMO DAY AND PRESENT YOUR PROJECT(S) AND NETWORK AND KEEP CODING AFTER GRADUATION
I can't stress this enough. I was able to land a full time job within 3 weeks of graduating because of both of these. Connect with industry professionals, send personal follow-up Emails the next day to them asking to come in and shadow the company. Go in to shadow with a laundry list of questions and you might impress them so much they offer you a full-time job. I never stopped coding after I graduated and come to find out that was one of the deciding factors a lot of hiring managers look at.

But the program has a hideous connection with Atlanta software businesses. The demo day was pathetic, as we were promised fifty businesses, less than half of which actually showed up, and of those, a strong majority were former camp attended. And most of those were at companies no longer hiring.
Five months after the boot camp our cohort of 24 attendees has only five with a fulltime programming position. Most of the rest have given up looking.
