Zip Code was the best and hardest experience of my life. The interview process and the program are both very challenging and intense but, if you are determined and motivated to succeed, Zip Code provides you with the opportunity that is needed to learn how to code proficiently and to find a career in software development. The best parts of Zip Code are the connections you make with cohort peers, staff, alumni, and professionals in the tech field and its curriculum not only helps you to be a great programmer but helps you become a better you. It truly is a special and unique bootcamp.

I did not have a background in coding (I came from the education field) but I was serious about making it into Zip Code, graduating, and finding a programming job. So, I took a year to save money and to study for the entrance exam. I would recommend a similar approach to any person serious about applying.

Zip Code Wilmington is much more than a crash course in software development. In addition to the technical knowledge and professional guidance that the staff strives to provide each and every student with (which redefined my expectations for bootcamps in general), students are also introduced to a network of developers, consisting of both alumni and professionals (and both, for that matter). The overall experience was incredibly challenging, as attendees are expected to go from presumably no experience in the industry to a professional level in three months. But the staff really helps to both instill confidence and reassure individuals throughout the process.  I liked coding before I started, but by the end of the program it became a passion of mine. I owe a big part of that to this experience, and I hope to see this wonderful program gain traction. I now have a job doing what I love at a great company with awesome people. While I credit a good portion of that to hard work, it would not have been possible without Zip Code. If you're genuinely interested in software development and a career in the industry, I can't recommend this program enough.

Zip Code Wilmington has fully lived up to my expectations. Less than two weeks after my final day of class, I accepted a job offer as a full-time software developer at a great company.

The instruction was phenomenal. There's a lot that can be achieved through self-learning, but what's more difficult is knowing what to learn. Zip Code really came through in that regard, as they teach you all the specific skills and technologies that you need to be successful as a full-stack developer today.

Most impressive of all is the employment assistance aspect of the program. Before applying to Zip Code, I considered a few other bootcamps but ultimately chose against them because I got the impression that you were more or less on your own after graduating. I have a friend who attended one of them, and echoed this sentiment. This is not the case with Zip Code Wilmington. They have staff focused solely on building relationships with employers, helping you with your resume and soft skills, and ultimately getting you hired. They will continue working with you until you get a job. The support is amazing, and I would be surprised if there were another bootcamp out there that went nearly as far in this respect.

A bit of advice I would give to prospective students is to come in with as much coding experience as you can get from places like Codecademy. The more you know going in, the easier it will be.

As far as I can tell, Zip Code Wilmington offers the best cost/benefit ratio of any bootcamp out there, and if you have the opportunity to go, go.

Like the other students attending Zip Code Wilmington, I decided to make a change to my career. Once I realized that I was interested in coding and problem solving through software development, I chose Zip Code for a few reasons - its company sponsor support and the success of its alumni.

Say goodbye to your family and friends for three months. They are not kidding when they say that you will be doing 100 hour weeks here! The course is pretty rigorous and fast-paced and there is always some new challenging lab or assignment for you to do. The curriculum closely follows what companies are looking for you to do on the job.  We spanned the full stack with the topics and labs we were given.

During the program, developers from various companies came in twice a week to present some topic or aspect of technology they were working on. It's amazing having the companies come to you to network. Some of these same speakers participate during interview week. The Zip Code Wilmington staff did an excellent job of lining up and bringing in the presenters.

The alumni are another great part of Zip Code Wilmington. They come by after work and on weekends to help get you through your projects. I saw alumni representing all the cohorts, not just the one before mine. There is a real sense of community at Zip Code.

After the course ended we had a week of intense technical interviews. Having the companies come to you for interviews is fantastic! In my opinion this reduces the risk of getting people interested in even looking at your resume after 3 months of coding. 

Overall, the experience was intense and there was great camaraderie within the cohort as we all worked hard to get each other over the finish line. I would recommend Zip Code Wilmington to anyone who's willing to put in the time commitment and is looking to change their career and give themselves a chance of being seen and interviewed by companies in the area.

Zip Code Wilmington has given me a chance to do what I always have wanted to do in my life which is be a programmer. It has given me the tools that I need to accelerate my career and be able to make a difference in the programming community. Not only technology tools but also the professional skills as well. I remember coming into the program thinking how hard could this possibly be, I've coded before, I shouldn't have to sweat it. But, actually being immersed in the code and the different techniques I found it to be challenging but very enjoyable and up-to-date. Completed the three-month bootcamp from January to March 2017.  Following graduation, successfully secured job as Java application developer with partner company.  This course provided instruction in the areas of core Java, relevant frameworks including Spring, as well as front end development using the Angular 2/ Ionic 2 frameworks.  The level of instruction and immersion has proven to successfully prepare graduates to land a job in the industry, and continue to grow and excel in their careers.

What an amazing program! Everything about this place is great, from the faculty to the administration to the facilities. I've learned so much in such a short time. From java & spring, to Angular and Ionic2, job placement / training, all the education I've received here has been top notch. The small cohort size allows us to really get to know the other students and learn from each other as well. As a non-profit, I really feel that Zip Code cares about me and my success, not just lining their pockets. You can tell the alumni feel the same, because many of them come back in their free time to help the current students with whatever they are working on, from assignments to personal projects. Many of the alumni are still working at the jobs they found out of the program, so the job placement is not just a temporary internship but a true start to your career.

If you are thinking of attending a coding bootcamp, there's no reason to go anywhere else.

When I started Zip Code I had high hopes for a promising career in Software Development. I was hoping for a bit terrible place to work, a better paycheck than anything I e ever had before, and a job that could tolerate going to each day. Well, I've been at my job for over half a year now, the company I work for is actually pretty great, I'm making more than I ever did or think I would, and everyday I arrive to my job and leave my job happy & satisfied. Even the really tough days are actually enjoyable. Not only do I do what I enjoy but I've met some of the greatest people through ZC, and I'm not talking about foreign dignitaries or senators, I'm talking about the people that went through Zip Code with me, the people that went before me, the new students coming in, and especially the staff.

Challenging and intense but an extremely rewarding program. One of the hardest things I have done. Incredibly fast-paced, averaged over 100 hours a week. They do an amazing job at preparing you for interviews and teaching you the core skills you need to prepare you for a career as a software developer. The teachers care about your success and work with you to help you learn and are often there on weekends / nights. Very thankful for the opportunities and experience I got by going through ZCW, would definitely recommend.

Honestly one of the most challenging programs I have ever taken part of, and I am very greatful that I stuck with it. Apart from the many coding schools out there, Zipcode is a non-profit.. There objective is not to take your money and push you through, but to make sure that you have what it takes to make it through the program and obtain job placement. Let's be honest this is not the ideal means of learning for everyone.  This three month bootcamp covers a lot of material in a small amount of time, and not everyone is capable of learning at that speed. Doesn't mean you can't become a great developer, just means this might not be the right learning enviroment for you. With that being said, the program offers a plethora of resources and assistance, and the knowledge and confidence you will obtain in such a short amount of time is beyond any monetary value. If this is something you are extremely passionate about...GO FOR IT!

As a student straight out of high school I knew what I wanted to do when it was time to start my career, so I did a year at college but it just wasn't enough! I felt as though I wasn't learning the things I needed and at the pace I wanted to. So I took it into my own hands and began looking for a better solution and  I came across an ad for Zip code Wilmington through a friends facebook. It was a video explaining Zip code was this affordable, fast track, challenging boot camp(too good to be true I thought to myself) so I decided to reach out to my friend and he said it was true so I took it upon myself and applied and out of the 31 that got in out of 300 or so applicants I was accepted. I've learned so much over these past three months it's almost unbelievable. Zip code will give you that foundation to do whatever you want as a programmer so I highly recommend it myself as of completing it.

I was in the September cohort and it ended in December. I had to leave school due to financial reasons before I found Zip Code. I thought Zip Code was too god to be true, but I applied anyway because it was free to apply. It was the best decision of my life. I am now a full time software engineer at JPMorgan Chase. I went to being a server making 2.25 an hour to a developer making 20x's that. If you are interested in Zip Code do it!

This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I taught myself some languages and had 10 years of experience using them personally. ZipCode Wilmington was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I have ever done. I remember all of the nights spent awake and bleary eyed staring at my own broken code, or pouring over some mystic text explaining what it was to write a program in Java. I recall quite a few moments of total despair and frustration, where I was sure I had made a grave mistake, or that I had somehow fooled everyone into thinking I could pull off the impossible and actually become a software developer. For all those moments, I also remember the amazing instructors, who were patient when I needed time, and commanding when I strayed off into a rabbit hole of messy functions and bad code. The moments when something would run successfully, despite the mess of code it took to make it, and the sudden urgency to improve and clean that code to make it better, and in turn, to improve myself so that next time it would take less time and would be brilliantly written from the start. With a curriculum shaped by the employers within the local community and some of the largest financial instituitions in the world, what you learn here is exactly the skillset to place yourself in a meaningful position doing software development. The challenge is not easy, and many times you'll doubt yourself, but I know that without a shred of doubt, ZipCode Wilmington was the hardest thing ive ever done, and I have cherished every moment of my time there. It promises the world, and it delivers in every possible way.  This school has changed my life and brought me from a minimum-wage retail associate to a professional software developer in twelve weeks. Twelve weeks of Zip Code gave me everything I needed to get a job that most people would say was only possible after four years of college.

                Zip Code Wilmington has set me on a path in my career that I have been trying to achieve for years! After learning from friends about this new coding school in town, one fateful day in April, I decided to make the phone call that would change my life. Getting admission to the course was the first big challenge I faced. There were four levels of interviews and technical challenges that we had to clear before getting admission to the course. Having prior coding experience would be helpful, but is not a must. What they are looking for is a passion to learn programming, and logical thinking and problem solving abilities.

                As an SAP consultant in my previous life, I did have functional IT experience, but had never done programming per se. I was eager to learn and was thrilled to hear that I had been selected! Being one of 25 selected from a pool of more than 250 applicants, I knew going in that the next 3 months were going to change my life! Every waking hour (which would be 18-20 hrs, no exaggeration!) of the next 12 weeks were spent learning core Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, frameworks like Spring MVC, Angular JS, app building, just to name a few. Core Java is the skill that is the most in demand in today’s industries, and you will come out of this boot camp very well prepared to deal with the challenges you will face as a Java application developer, and also equipped with the wherewithal and confidence to learn new languages and skillsets.

                You will get to meet the big wigs of the banking industry based in Wilmington, who are eager to hire from Zip Code. There are many opportunities to meet and network with hiring managers and senior executives from most of the major companies in Wilmington. There are talks every week by speakers from companies like JP Morgan, Bank of America, Amazon etc. that give you an insight into their hiring process and work culture.

And, the heart and soul of Zip Code is Melanie, the Head of School, who will move heaven and earth to make sure you are gainfully placed in a job/apprenticeship after the boot camp. She went the extra mile to get me interviews with companies that I was keen on joining, and ultimately, getting placed with Bank of America, made my dream come true! I would highly recommend this boot camp to anyone with the passion, drive and perseverance to work towards your goal of becoming a software engineer in 3 months!
