JUMP by Cognixia offers 6–10 week technical training bootcamp with campuses in New Jersey, Texas, North Carolina, Colorado, Illinois, Washington, and Online. The JUMP curriculum covers Salesforce, React, and ETL. JUMP bootcamp was founded by Cognixia, a digital transformation and training company, and its mission is to bridge the gap between the demand for qualified IT professionals and the supply of qualified tech workers. Students work, learn, and train with industry experts who have led tech companies. JUMP is committed to the career success of its students and does this through projects that help them understand the implementation of technology in real-life situations. Students will also learn soft skills, such as how to navigate the nuances of work-life and other interpersonal abilities that will make them more attractive to prospective employers. JUMP's  Coaching Service helps with resume formatting, interview best practices, and professional self-development.

JUMP is designed for college graduates with some prior programming experience who wish to enter the tech industry. During the application process, applicants will be screened to gauge their basic level of comprehension of relevant technology. Candidates will then do an in-person or webinar interview. Before being officially allowed into the program, applicants will take an aptitude test to showcase their problem-solving capabilities.

Students are given practical exposure to real-world tech scenarios, to prepare them to hit the ground running on their first day of work. Ultimately, the goal of the JUMP program is to place every student with one of Cognixia's clients – mostly in the financial and technology industries.

I started the JUMP Program in January 2020 and I graduated from the class end of February 2020. The training was absolutely great and the teacher was great as well. I was in an environment where the director and staff always made us feel comfortable and like we were worth something. We were treated as if people believed in us! Overall, the curriculum was fast, steady, and filled with information. We never went a day without learning something new and I appreciate that. We had been set up for success since day one!

An efficacious curriculum for recent graduates, with little to none, prior work experience searching to enter the competitive full-stack development workforce. After graduating, I was struggling to enter the workforce, with only 6 month worth of barely software-related internship experience. Having been found (via LinkedIn) and recruited by Cognixia, I was stationed in the Bellevue offices, with a team of 15 to 20 additional graduates. I was able to learn a significant deal of JavaScript concepts, CSS, HTML, VSCode tricks, and React development, while being provided paychecks and a nearly free hotel stay in one of the most expensive cities in Washington state. This curriculum not only allowed to develop the necessary skills in a nice and calm environment, but also allowed me to develop a social network with the co-recruits and Cognixia employees. Furthermore, the training isn't only focused on the technical side but also on the soft skills. Throughout the curriculum, I was mentored on soft skills and practice interviews. Upon completing the curriculum, I was placed on an interview for a great company, aced the interview, and got a well-paying job! If you are struggling to enter the workforce due to limited work experience, Cognixia provides that opportunity for you and and even a little more.

The Jump program really helped me get my foot in the door and made me rethink how I should approach how I learn and how to learn efficiently. I met a lot of great people in the program and felt much more prepared to start my career. Each section of the program builds on top of previously learned material so you see how the entire Full Stack development process goes and how certain technologies work with one another. I am confident in my skills and would recommend the program for anyone not just looking to improve their skills, but obtain relevant skills needed in the industry today.

      Pros:
      • After spending three years in technology sales, I fell in love with software engineering and enrolled in a technical bootcamp to pursue my new-found career aspiration of becoming a software developer.
        • After graduating, I was seeking the ideal place to start my engineering career; a place where I could continue to expand my knowledge and grow as a developer, while still applying my new development skillset.
      • That's when I was introduced to Cognixia and the JUMP Program ("Junior Mentorship Program").
        • It has been the place I have exponentially expanded my engineering skillset that I initialized at my technical bootcamp.
      • For any recent computer science or technical bootcamp graduate (like myself), the JUMP Program is the ideal place to prepare you for the real-world production development environment.
        • What starts out with extensive and in-depth trainings led by real-world software developers, consultants, and certified trainers, leads to you interviewing and being placed with Fortune 500 companies or some of the most modern (and well-known) enterprises in the world.
      • The Mgmt team is incredibly helpful, supportive, and motivating; the exact type of people I needed to help facilitate my transition from my technical bootcamp to the professional development world.
        • They are the type of people who genuinely care about your success and several of them have became close friends.
        • In addition to the instructor-led education, the amount and variety of resources they provide you to succeed and expand your knowledge is one of the primary reasons I am where I am today.
      • The opportunities I have for growth and advancement in my engineering career now are endless after completing the program and I am eternally grateful to Cognixia, the JUMP Team, and my instructors for everything they have contributed to my quest of making my career-aspiration a reality.
        • If you are reading this and are in the same boat I was previously in trying to find the right place to start your career in software engineering, I don't think you could find a more ideal company, environment, or growth opportunity as this.
          • Joining the JUMP Program will go down in history as one of the best professional decisions I have ever made in my life.

      Cons:
      • Other than a few "growing-pains" along the way as the JUMP Program began to exponentially grow when I first joined, there are no other cons in my personal experience and opinion.

      Note To Cognixia:
      • Keep doing what you are doing!
        • You guys are amazing and I'm excited to see all the incredible things you have in the works come to life.

Overall I had a great experience with this program. It was the perfect entry point into software development. The curriculum was solid but since it is a new program the course structure still needs a bit of refinement. Management was fantastic, and accommodating. Mock interviews were the norm which was a huge benefit in preparing for real interviews with clients. It's paid training and if you can study, prepare, and perform you'll have access to a solid client list all across the country. The biggest difficulty for me was information about the process wasn't always clear which can leave you feeling anxious. However, this was a tiny issue relative to all the positive experiences I had with the program and with the company.

I was initially very nervous about the process. I received a message from a recruiter over linkedIn. A short conversation lead to a few interviews. I almost walked away when the recruiters asked for my private information, including SSN, over e-mail. When I told them I wasn't comfortable with that, their IT team set up a secure portal for me to share the information they needed.

After joining the program I again was nervous when I had to sign a loan for the training. The loan would be forgiven if I completed the training. If I happened to get the job the training was for and I represented the program poorly, I would once again be on the hook for the cost of the training.

The training itself was 3 weeks of lecture and tests; 8 hours a day, 5days a week. I learned the basics of interacting with a mainframe terminal, writing JCL and COBOL code. Along with the lectures, There were also plenty of opportunities to interact with employees of the company were training to join. This was a mentally exhausting and fun experience. Unfortunately this training had to be remote do to COVID-19.

I have been offered a position for the company we were training to join and I have accepted. The plan is to start working in about 2 weeks.

Overall I was nervous about a few steps in the process, but I am very glad I proceeded with caution. Now I'm getting prepared to start my career in the Computer Science field.
