Coding Temple

Going into this program I had 0 experience with coding! none whatsoever!!! Brandon made learning all the information a lot of fun and understandable, and at the end I had learned things that I never in a million years thought I'd understand.  One critique I'd have with the self paced program is giving students the ability to get the pre-work done before the actual start of the course.  Outside of that... The program was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Coming from someone who already had some experience with programming, the amount of knowledge I gained from this experience is unmatched. I learned every skill I needed to take with me into the job search and landed a terrific role within 5 months of graduation. 

The instructors were extremely helpful anytime I did not understand something or needed more information. The tools that were given to me were everything I needed to succeed. Marlene does an amazing job providing assistance in the job search post graduation.

I had a great experience at Coding Temple!  My instructor was Nate Welter and he did an amazing job at adjusting the pace of the course so that everybody had a working understanding of the material.  There really was no question he couldn't answer on the spot, and if by chance something did come up, he was very resourceful and had an answer nearly immediately (which is probably the greatest asset there is for a programmer).  
Our TA was also very helpful and would stay late after class on an individual basis if anyone felt they were falling behind (spoiler- they wouldn't be falling behind for long).  
I can't personally attest to the abilities of the other instructors, but I know they're a tight knit group, and I've heard nothing but good things from students of their classes. Algo Night is offered every week to brush up on skills, and the support system for post-graduates is relentless, you will never feel left behind.
If you're looking for a bootcamp to get yourself a full-time engineering job or just want a better understanding of computer systems for your current placement, look no further. Read less

Most challenging and rewarding learning experience I have had post-college.  I am a month post graduation, and after doing the 10-week Full Stack program, I feel really prepared to enter the workforce in my new field.  Coding Temple overall has a tremendous support outside of the actual classes, but the poeple working for Coding Temple, have been genuine, warm, and very intelligent.  Derek, my instructor is one of the most brilliant people I have been around, he has extensive knowledge about all subjects covered, but he is able to show complex operations with the languages/frameworks and still explain it in a clear and concise fashion.  Lucas, my teacher's assistant had a infectious enthusiasm for coding that really impressed me, and his knowledge of coding and how to communicate it was also wonderful. I had an amazing experience with this bootcamp!! The staff is very interactive and always available when you need them. My instructor was wonderful, he was super knowledgeable and did a great job preparing me for a career in tech. I would recommend this bootcamp a thousand times over to anyone looking for a bootcamp. All reservations I had for participating in one disappeared within a week of starting my cohort. As a part time student with full time work responsibilities I was nervous about the work load and how much it would dominate life. It did not dominate whatsoever and the school is very willing to work with you and your schedule.  It is not just the instructors, the staff in general is amazing, from student relations, to career counseling, to the post-grad job-search assistance, I really cant recommend this school and its staff enough!!  Read less

Coding Temple is a GREAT bootcamp! They not only see you as a student but a person as well. They will work with you into to the hours of the night to help you learn new skills and processes, they make sure that you as an individual are picking up on the skills being layered in front of you, they will force you to think and problem solve, letting you make mistakes and learning from them, and most of all they care about you and your future endeavors.

My experience with coding temple.
I signed up through Career Karma, did the pre-work, and started class pretty soon after that. The classes where all online and in a class room with a Instructor teaching the days material (usually doing a code-along) then they would give us our home work, some of the work was pretty straight forward but some needed further explaining usually from a instructor or the instructor would guide you to more information via Google, W3 schools, StackOverflow, or GeeksForGeeks. They really lay down the frame work for you learn how to learn and teach your self about what you are learning.

Curriculum.
My only critique is the Curriculum. I wish the Part-time course was 14 or even 16 weeks long I fill the class could have used more time in a few of the subjects but other then that I think the Curriculum was very straight forward and was taught with precision  and accuracy. My instructor Kevin Beier was qualified and over all a great guy to work with the way he tackles the Curriculum is very thorough and was a ton of help.

Prior to coding temple I had no experience.
 However the structors(Kevin, Alex, Devon) were able to give me the tools to get me where I am today. There's was some points where I felt lost but meeting with them helped me and got me through. I'm confident that what I have learned will benefit me in the long run and the rest of my life. Couldn't ask for a better bootcamp and instructors.  Read less

From the initial phone call, every single person that I've encountered at Coding Temple has been extremely helpful. The prework definitely helped me prepare for the bootcamp. When I started, I was completely new to coding/programming. I had Terrell and Ryan as instructors, and they did an amazing job breaking down and explaining every single language/concept in the program. The 10 weeks go by very quickly but there are a couple that feel to drag because of the information overload. Figuring out the best way that I learned and retained information really helped me get the most out of the program. You really do get out what you put in. Remaining curious and asking lots of questions makes a huge difference!

I would definitely recommend this program to anyone that is ready to fully immerse themselves. No matter your level of experience, Coding Temple will help you learn what you need to learn to confidently start your new career. They have so many resources and are continuously adding more to the career services program after the bootcamp. Read less

I took Coding Temple's course full-time from August to October and couldn't be happier. Terrell and Ryan were awesome instructors and human-beings. Nicole was great and keeping all of us happy and on-track. Marlene was an indispensable resource in the job hunt; thanks to her guidance I was lined up with an accepted offer and a start date within a month of finishing the program.

I waited to do the review until I had some time in at my new position to be able to speak on how the program prepared me for my role. I can happily say that I was given the knowledge and resources to either out-right know what I was doing or know where to look if I needed guidance or documentation. I would absolutely recommend Coding Temple to anyone who wants to become a software engineer. Read less

I graduated from the program in January 2022, and I got to say this was one of the best decisions I made.  The program is very fast-paced and you learn a lot in these 10 weeks. The instructors and support staff were always available whenever I needed help. Be ready to spend 70-80 hours a week if you want to get the most out of this Bootcamp. You'll get what you put into it. I highly recommend this to anyone trying to get into the Software Engineer or Data Analytics industry.  Read less

I went into the program knowing that I wanted to perform data analysis, with some experience performing statistical analysis in an academic setting, but completely uninitiated in computer programming. I appreciated the introduction to a broad catalogue of technologies. If you're familiar with programming languages you might want more depth, but for a newbie it was a perfect introduction and I'm now confident in my ability to go deeper on my own time. 

Pros: I was introduced to a broad swath of technologies. This not only helped me narrow down my interests (data engineering), but it also made me feel more comfortable talking about programming in social and professional settings. I also appreciate the broad introduction because I developed skills I would have otherwise overlooked.
Instructors were knowledgeable and approachable.
I made great connections with my peers/classmates.

Cons: Hard to call it a con, but if you are unprepared for the pace it can be detrimental: the program moves very quickly, it's very easy to fall behind and feel overwhelmed if you don't check in with yourself and others OFTEN. Read less

I wish I had made the leap sooner. Going from a small business owner, to a student preparing for nursing school, to pivoting again in light of the pandemic, I made up my mind that software development was a path with limitless opportunities if only I could get through the door. I started researching, reading reviews, and calling different companies, and everyone I spoke to sounded the same, "Our program is the best! We have over a 95% employment rate..., etc.", but most of my questions weren't answered directly and I was tired of the canned responses. I was starting to wonder if all bootcamps were like this. Then I got a call back from Coding Temple. 

Ripal was sincere, had direct insight into the program, and was willing to have an honest conversation about the commitment it would take and how long it would be before I found a job (average is 3 months). His candor was what ultimately sold me on Coding Temple. He wasn't trying to sugarcoat anything, and I could tell he believed in the program. Turns out he was one of the cofounders! That conversation, along with the financing that allowed me to complete the program and likely find a job before paying anything back, gave me the confidence to step into a new career I knew nothing about, but I came away equipped with the experience to have professional conversations during my interviews and a portfolio that impressed recruiters. Marlene knew how to prepare me for the job search and put my best foot forward with my applications, and thanks to her guidance I had 2 different offers within 6 weeks and was able to start at an amazing company within 2 months of graduating. I couldn't have imagined making such a big decision and it turning out so well, and I owe it all to Coding Temple. Read less

If you are looking for 10 weeks of rigorous training in a specific tech discipline, this is not the place for you.

If you are looking to transition from another field, and have no idea where to start, but lots (and I mean LOTS) of motivation, this is the perfect starting place. Full-Stack means this place teaches front-end technologies and gets you making websites, but they also show you how to make databases and programs in the back-end, and hook those together with the web interfaces. TLDR: You can get a bunch of different jobs that will use skills you learn here. 

Now to the important stuff: Culture at Coding Temple is fantastic! They provide intense levels of support in the form of patient instructors, night-time AIs, career support that extends months beyond the end of the boot camp, interview training, algorithm practice, and I guess I'll end here: advice from a career advisor who is an experienced expert in her career. 

I am writing this after receiving an offer for a tech job in a tech firm rated in the best places to work in Chicago, so this is not me being optimistic; Coding Temple works if you do your part. Read less

I chose to make a career change much later in life.  Much later than most of my classmates.  There are sooooo many different options for bootcamps out there, which made this decision even tougher.  I researched and researched and decided Coding Temple had it all and in only 10 weeks.  I knew it would be tough, and it sure was!  Thankfully, I was dedicated and determined and that is key here.  You must be ready to put your social life aside and really put in your time. 

Coding Temple was a wonderful experience for me.  Nicole was very fun and pleasant to work w/ for onboarding and mid-course reviews.  My instructor (Derek) and TA (Lucas) are incredible at their jobs.  They were very thorough and always available to help, if we got lost or it didn't click right away.   I aim to be at their level someday..  Marlene (Alumni Director/ Career Coach) knows everything there is to know about resume-building and interviewing.  She's an amazing support/resource to have in this process of job hunting.

I would highly recommend Coding Temple if you're looking to make the jump into a tech role.  They have everything you need and the support to get you through the process.  Two thumbs up from me! Read less

I'm a recent graduate of the full time full-stack + data science program at Coding Temple (remote). Why Coding Temple over the others? The staff! The staff was helpful before, during, and still after the program is complete. They really want you to succeed but you get what you put into it like most things so be prepared.  The curriculum was intense but doable if you commit yourself. Full time means full-time so all of my free time was spent doing homework and projects.  What I didn't expect was developing the bonds with the other students that were and still is a great support system til this day. Send Coding Temple an email or give them a call, what do you got to lose?  Read less

I took Coding Temple's 10 week full-stack developer course and it was amazing.  I went into the program with no coding experience whatsoever, and Coding Temple got me from there to job ready in less than 3 months.  Since there was so much information, sometimes I needed extra help, and there was always assistance available (even on weekends!!).  My instructor Terrell was very knowledgeable and the assistant instructor Ryan was awesome.  Between the 2 of them every question anyone asked in class was answered thoroughly and usually they gave us a link to some additional info for us to look at if we wanted to as well.  Even though it was a lot of work, Terrell and Ryan taught the class in a way that made it fun to learn.  After graduation Coding Temple provides a career services program that is amazing.  Marlene is an incredibly valuable resource, giving so much insight to resumes, the ins and outs of interviewing, and how to prepare yourself and your work that I really felt confident about the whole process.  Nicole was so great too.  She organized activities and game nights and things that really focused on team building, which is a really important aspect of this whole thing, because these relationships turn into networks, and that leads to good things.  Overall, I only have positive things to say about Coding Temple.  I cannot believe how much I learned in such a short period of time, and how cool and fun the things I learned are.  This was totally worth the investment, and I cannot recommend Coding Temple highly enough. If you're looking for speed, this is the way to go. Take the time to set the rest of your life aside for ten weeks and dive in - this program will absolutely teach you what you need for entering the industry. Not only will you learn the technical skills, but you'll get the advice you need to navigate the industry, pass interviews, and more. The course is not just oriented around getting you a job, but truly giving you, the student, the requisite resources to continue growing after graduation and deeply understanding the code you'll write and work with. 

A word of advice to students who enroll.. Spend the time with the pre-work basics. I highly recommend at least googling some of the topics that are listed on the course offering ahead of time - Coding Temple staff are able to both teach people who have never written a line of code before, and they are also able to help people who have prior experience to "polish" their code, and in all things seek elegance. The staff at CT are the true gems of the program that set the institution apart from the rest - whether that's extra student activities and the community built, or the career guidance by people who could be elsewhere but have chosen to look after the students instead, or the knowledgeable TAs and instructors who are ready to help. I highly recommend Coding Temple to anyone who wants to take coding seriously, and fall in love with an incredible field of study.

And to those who are concerned (naturally) with getting a job as soon as possible after graduation... I had interviews scheduled before I'd finished graduating, and had classmates walk out from graduation into jobs the following Monday. It works. Read less

Coding Temple was an experience I wish I could have had right out of high school. Even with previous college experience, I became much more confident in my programming abilities. Even if you don't know a language, searching for what you need becomes insanely easier. It's easy to get into your head about not knowing what to do, and the work at Coding Temple made me much more confident. Read less
