The instructors were knowledgeable and delivered the curriculum in a way that was easy to follow. They also had availability for one on one tutoring outside of class hours. The exercises were challenging enough to make me feel accomplished at the end but also left room for additional challenges outside of the expected outcome. The course prepared me to adapt and learn coding technologies. The placement team got me in front of two potential employers within a week of graduating. Codeup was great for me. They taught me how to create web applications by teaching the basics of html/css then diving into Javascript and Java to make more intricate applications. Teaching by way of practice, each big end of a curriculum point you work in a team to create a project to specifics based on what learned, using knowledge building up as go further into the course.
The instructors were well versed in their teachings, always happy to help at any point and provide guidance, not just the answers. Codeup also provided assistance with finding jobs by bringing in recruiters and actual hiring managers to interview for positions, they prepared us for these interviews and gave solid experience for future ones that use even today. Was able to be hired before the course ended and started job week after finishing, highly recommend if have the time and financial ability to attend, this great place to get into the full-stack career path.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

Also, Cod...I think Codeup is the premier web development boot camp in San Antonio. The application process was straightforward and the coding assignments they give at this point provide a good gauge for the material you'll be working on during the boot camp. Also, Codeup is a great option for veterans since the program can be funded by the GI Bill.
Once you're accepted to the program, you will be given pre-work to complete to give you the fundamentals before starting the boot camp. I recommend you complete the pre-work since you will be very familiar with the first few weeks of material if you do and you will have an easier time getting used to the fast pace of the material. Topics are covered quickly and you will be given projects to reinforce the skills you learn. I think that you will get what you put into the program, so if you're struggling with a topic, make sure to put in the extra time after class to really understand. Some people will grasp concepts quicker than others, but this isn't something that cannot be overcome with extra practice. Also, the curriculum is available online, so you can review it at home, and is available to you after you complete the program too!
The capstone project is the culmination of your hard work during the boot camp. You get the experience of software delivery from the planning phase all the way to production deployment. It is also a great way to practice source control while collaborating with other developers. Even though the capstone is a project, the application you develop is real and will be available for users to interact with. The capstone presentation is also a good way to practice your communication skills since speaking in groups and talking about development work to non-technical audiences are skills that can set you apart as a software developer.
Finally, the support for finding your first job as a software developer is top-notch. Codeup has partnerships with many of the key tech companies in San Antonio like Accenture, USAA, and HEB. Many of these companies will recognize the training from Codeup in lieu of a computer science degree or 1-2 years of experience. Similar to the rest of the program, you have to put in the work at this point as well. You can expect to submit multiple job applications during the week and attend any networking events that occur. It may sound like any other job hunt, but it is nice knowing that you have the support of the Codeup placement staff working with their partners to find a job for you. If you put in the work and you can't find a job within 6 months, you're refunded the tuition to Codeup, so that's a bonus too.
Codeup was a great experience for me and I would not have had my career as a software developer without them. The program helps you quickly gain the skills you need to be an entry-level developer and is more affordable than a 4-year computer science degree. Now that Codeup is accredited, you have financial aid options similar to universities and if you're a veteran, it can be funded with the GI Bill or the VETTEC program. The curriculum is well organized and available to you after you complete the boot camp, but I think having dedicated instructors with experience that you can get help from is what sets the program apart from other programs. Lastly, the job search support from the placement team completes the package which makes Codeup the premier boot camp in San Antonio!Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job support5.0Instructors4.0 -

The curriculum was well-designed, giving me the opportunity to work on real projects and hone my problem-solving skills. One of the biggest advantages of the bootcamp is that it provides hands-on, practical experience with coding and building things, rather than spending a lot of time on theoretical knowledge.
Codeup also screens their applicants, ensuring that only those who are capable of thinking logically and figuring things out are admitted. This helps to minimize the chances of wasting time and money.
Without a doubt, the biggest advantage of Codeup Bootcamp is its ability to help you get a job in the field. The bootcamp does an excellent job of building networks and providing opportunities for its students. Overall, I would highly recommend Codeup Bootcamp to anyone looking to gain practical experience and jumpstart their career in coding.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

The program covers a lot of ground in a relatively short time span. In all honesty, it was very tough. But overall, it was an amazing experience!
The staff are incredible, there's no doubt about that. There are too many people to name, but I have to give a special shout-out to my teachers, Justin and Javier.
In the end I found a job through Codeup's hard working placement team. Though it took five months to land after graduation, they definitely fulfilled their job placement guarantee in my case. At the time of enrollment most students won't be thinking what the market conditions are by the time they graduate. Unfortunately, it's been a tough market for new grads. I would keep that in mind when determining a course of action in the job-seeking phase. On the other hand, if you are willing to relocate then that opens up many more opportunities.
As far as the curriculum goes, though it is definitely robust, I think there could be some minor areas of improvement. To be fair, the curriculum regularly gets updated which I think is great.
On a final note, if you're in the San Antonio or Dallas area and looking to join a coding bootcamp, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option! Codeup definitely gets my recommendation :)
P.S. Full disclosure, I went through the program while it was fully remote. That format seemed to work pretty well for me, though I believe Codeup has resumed their regular in-person format by now.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

I could not have asked or found a better program.
Even from the initial onboarding experience, to the introduction and school-walkthrough, the coursework and also the career-finding process, I am so pleased with the support I received from this program. The coursework was challenging and kept me accountable to keep up with the work, while also having great instructors that were available for questions, support and help.
Their career and professional placement coach works hard to get Codeup's graduates into the right roles and this after-program work shows. Codeup continues to have a built-up community and genuine connections with their grads and I believe it is from the care that the full Codeup team has put into this bootcamp.
For veterans or military spouses, Codeup also accepts VET TEC and GI Bill to help the military have the finances of attending their program. They also offer scholarships too for those not affiliated with the military.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

A year ago, I was in a role that left me underpaid, overworked, and generally unhappy. I had seen billboards around town advertising Codeup's programs, but I had never done more than a quick Google search to read about their course. One day, I decided that I was going to give it a more in-depth look, actually requested information about the program, and the rest is history. I started the program a little under 8 months ago, and I am now working in an entirely different role, making about 42% more than I was prior to Codeup, and in a field that is vastly more engaging for me. That's a huge pay increase for just a few months.
From day one, our instructors and every other member of Codeup staff were incredibly passionate about helping us grow, both as Data Scientists and as people. They were great about delivering the information that made it accessible and easy to understand, even for those who had very little experience with this type of material before. You really can come to Codeup knowing next to nothing about Data Science, and they will absolutely take the time to ensure that you're comfortable with the material. After completing 5 months in the program, I couldn't believe the amount I had learned. Going from learning how to print "hello, world!" in Python to using and training complex machine learning models in the span of such a short time is incredible.
Following graduation, their placement team supported me with connections and advice that ultimately led to me being hired as a Data Engineer. When they say they're going to put in the work to get you hired, they mean it.
If you're on the fence about attending a bootcamp and changing the direction of your career, I couldn't possibly emphasize more how great Codeup could be for you. It's a tough program, but it's worth it. I hope you give them a chance and request that information on their site, attend one of their informational sessions to see their style, and maybe even take the leap and attend their program. I'm confident that if you're willing to work and make the most of your time there at Codeup, you won't regret it.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job support4.0Instructors5.0 -

You won't regret choosing Codeup
I'll start by saying that you will get out of Codeup what you put into it, and I'm not talking about money. That being said, if you are serious about chang...I'll start by saying that you will get out of Codeup what you put into it, and I'm not talking about money. If you're not willing to put in the effort required to learn, grow, and land a job you will struggle. That being said, if you are serious about changing or upgrading your career, Codeup is one of the best schools to help you move into the tech industry.
Codeup has some of the best instructors out there. They have industry experience, so they won't just teach you how to use the tools, but they'll also teach you how the things you're learning apply in real world scenarios. They are always available for guidance and questions, and are willing and able to work one on one with you if needed. Many Codeup instructors are former students themselves (this is simply because many former students choose to become instructors after working in the field and the Codeup network is strongly connected, more on this later) so they understand the position you're in and can relate to your struggles. The curriculum covers more than just the tools, but will also have you work on many projects, some of which will be of your own choosing, and will give you the experience of taking a project from design to delivery.
Codeup has a very strong network of staff and students. Aside from your instructors and advisors you will have your fellow students and all former students available to help you out. This network is available to you after graduation as well, and pays dividends if you make good use of it.
Most importantly, the job placement assistance is top notch. You will literally have someone reaching out to hiring managers on your behalf to help you land interviews and provide guidance throughout the job placement process. I cannot state enough how important this is in a highly competitive industry where people with experience often have the upper hand. Here though I'll say it again, you get out what you put in. Codeup's job assistance is the best there is, but whether or not you land a job ultimately depends on you.
Lastly some advice. Codeup's instruction staff is excellent, but the curriculum is very fast paced. To give yourself a better chance of keeping up with the curriculum spend time, at least a month, before starting with Codeup to learn the basics of the tools taught in the curriculum. When you are accepted into the program you are given a handful of learning resources to prepare. Use those resources and go further if you can. The monetary and time investment you have to put in can be steep, but that's exactly what it is, an investment. This investment will pay for itself if you're willing to put in the effort.
To whoever is reading this, I highly recommend Codeup, and wish you luck in your decision and career.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

Prior to deciding on this choice, I made some extensive research on local booth-camps in my area and non could match the quality and depth of the curriculum. I am very pleased to state this experience has enabled me land my first job as a Data Analyst through the professional help of Codeup's career counselor. Many other bootcamps promise you that they can guarantee placement after a 12-week course, but that seems incredibly unrealistic. Codeup set a realistic pace to about 5 months which made it more feasible to complete when you have kids and other obligations. Their content is wholesome and practical, but most importantly the instructors work really hard to ensure that every student understands the content. They are the true MVPs.
Full disclosure: the difficulty is not learning the material. The tough part is convincing employers you are proficient in a very competitive job market. It is intimidating, but Codeup's placement team does a good job of prepping, counseling, and workshopping ways to get noticed by employers. It took me awhile but I managed to land a technical apprenticeship at Amazon, so it can be done!

Codeup is an expert program that bridges that gap and is successfully able to teach and prepare students for a rewarding career. Personally, their data science program was more than I hoped for in helping me obtain the training, experience and confidence to feel prepared for my career change!
From the initial application process to the last day of the program, the Codeup staff is very supportive and open to helping you with any questions, doubts, hesitations, and blockers that may hinder your progress. Everyone on the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. The learning environment Codeup creates for their students helps everyone be at ease and encourages collaboration amongst peers and teachers. Their experienced staff are great at teaching the new subjects in a way that are easy to understand. It was gratifying to know that the teachers were career professionals themselves in the field of data science and were teaching not only from a book but from experience. Those are lessons that are not always taught in a regular college classroom and are still very much appreciated. The career placement personnel are amazing. Their extensive network and their drive to help students successfully find a job based on the student's preferences are truly impressive. With assistance and preparation for interviews, Linked In profiles, resumes and network building, I felt confident and ready for today's job market.
The program itself is very comprehensive and can feel intense at times, but keep in mind that you are constantly supported and encouraged to succeed. It is very rewarding to complete an assignment or a project successfully and look back at how much you have learned in such a short time! Although there is much to learn in the field of data science, the program did a great job in covering relevant topics and helping us learn how to keep growing in the field.
In six short months, I accomplished more than I thought possible thanks to Codeup. I was a substitute teacher and a mom who had taken a long career break in IT to raise my sons and was able to transition into the data science field seamlessly. I cannot recommend Codeup enough for anybody who is looking for that program/opportunity to get into the field of data science!Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

I have always been interested in all things creative but somehow always ended up with jobs that required the least creativity and problem solving. I was drawn to tech several years ago but having no prior experience or exposure found myself wading through blogs and YouTube tutorials, somewhat aimlessly, not really knowing where to start. I had heard of bootcamps before but, as a single parent, was extremely wary about the risk of spending so much money with the uncertainty of job prospects upon completion. Even though most bootcamps are less expensive than formal CS degrees and take much less time to complete, I was initially drawn to Codeup because of their job placement guarantee and knowing I could get my money back if I wasn't placed within 6 months.
From the very beginning, the admissions counselors were on it. I didn't feel like they were trying to "sell" me on the program and just say anything to get me to apply. I could talk to them about my concerns and really felt like I was speaking to a career counselor (emphasis on the counselor). They gave me things to consider and the push I needed to take such a huge leap of faith to leave my job and the workforce for 6months and invest in myself in the hopes of transitioning into something better. The program was hard, for sure. Emotionally there were so many times that I felt inadequate or unsure of myself. And, talking to classmates I was not alone in that feeling. The cool thing about Codeup was that the program was so holistic, in that we weren't just learning technical skills. There were workshops on things like imposter syndrome and what to expect in our first data science roles as well as a very large network of alumni that inspired us by their own success and who were always so eager to jump in with help and encouragement because of how great their own experiences were. I have never really enjoyed school but love learning and Codeup didn't feel like school, it felt more like a learning lab. Some of my biggest lessons were having coffee or lunch with classmates and instructors and those little lessons or nuggets of wisdom that kept you going through the hard times.
Approaching the finish line was both exciting and anxiety inducing. Rent was due (lol) and the unknown was scary. How long would the gap between graduation and job placement be? What kind of job would I get? What would my hours be? Another cool thing about Codeup was the placement support and process. Around the middle of the program we had additional workshops on resume writing, setting up our LinkedIn, networking, and even one on one sessions with a placement team who helped us not only find "a" job, but find a job that was just the right fit. Things you wouldn't even think to consider and a knowledgeable team to bounce ideas off of and get advice from. The job that I have now I didn't even know existed before, but it just fits my background and unique skills and things I just enjoy doing (art, asking 1million questions, storytelling) like a glove.
I have always been fascinated by technology but never thought that "real tech" was for me because I just wasn't strong in programming or coding languages. Codeup was an amazing jump start and confidence builder. They told us in the beginning how impressed we were going to be when we looked back at where we started and saw how far we had come and that has definitely been the case.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

After 11 years of active duty Air Force, I decided to transition to the Reserves and was trying to figure out what I really wanted to do. I happened to run into a coworker who was telling me about how he had enrolled into Codeup's Web Development course and something prompted me to check out the school where I came across the description for the data science course. I was instantly intrigued and somehow everything aligned so that I was able to get into their next upcoming course right before the cutoff.
I won't say it was easy because I had to relocate and there was A LOT to learn but there's a big difference between doing something difficult that you find enjoyable and something difficult that doesn't satisfy you. You will be amazed at what you accomplish during the course. The class environment is set up so that you learn from your peers as well which is great because no one understands better where you are than someone else in the same position. The instructors do an incredible job of explaining the concepts in a way that even those with limited industry knowledge can understand and are always available and willing to provide one-on-one assistance as needed. You will learn everything you need to know start a career in the industry.
The placement team was also great with finding jobs for everyone no matter your situation. I was a little worried since I was from another state and was not looking for anything local to Texas but it turns out they have connections spanning across the nation and were able to get me set up with a position within a month of graduation. It does require some work on your part getting your resume polished, sent out, and, of course, doing the interviews, however, they provide guidance at every step and take care of the extra details that help seal the deal.
I am incredibly grateful for everything I've learned from all the great people at Codeup and my cohort and will forever remember a few of the individuals that helped me through the process as one of those people who made a significant impact on my life. I have and will continue to recommend Codeup to anyone who is looking to get into the data science field.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

The curriculum focused on the data science pipeline, from acquiring and preparing data to exploration and using machine learning to gain business value from data. A student can expect to learn git, SQL, python and useful libraries, Tableau, and other useful tools a data scientist may use. Through the course, students are building a portfolio of projects to reinforce what they've learned in class, creating experiences to add to their resume, and adding talking points during interviews. These projects are pushed to Github daily to bolster a strong profile. Students will also learn and develop public speaking skills as they present their projects.
The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and care deeply for students. Their patience and dedication ensured nobody was left behind and everyone developed a working understanding of each portion of the curriculum. Their adaptability to each individual's circumstances, feedback, and encouragement enhanced the student experience, even when things became difficult, and added to student retention.
Closer to graduation and post-graduation, the student placement team is constantly working to build a student's network, resume, and finding personalized potential placement options with employers. Everyone is working together toward ensuring a student's success, even after graduation. Instructors have 1-on-1 interviews with students and provide feedback while also providing opportunity for more practice if a student requests it.
I highly recommend Codeup to anyone, from any background, who is seeking to make a career change into tech.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

Before Codeup I was struggling through a college program, working a dead end maintenance job. I heard about code up and that they were verified through the VA and did a ton of research (like your probably doing now.) And I was blown away by there success stories and job placement. So I pulled the trigger and started the application process. From the first day of the application process to graduation day I felt like I always had someone to guide and support me. The instructors there are top notch. Ryan is literally the Bob Ross of python. Maggie can help anyone understand the nuances of statistics and probabilities and the best part is.... If you're stuck, if you don't know what's going on all you have to do is ask and someone will help you. My fellow cohort mates have become life long friends through the bonding we did in those classes. And finally what everyone wants to know what about the JOBS?! Well I was hired at an incredible company BEFORE graduating. With zero outside experience and I wasn't the only one. To this day my LinkedIn is flooded with offers for interviews by head hunters. The process works, it's hard and it takes a lot of work, patience and understanding but I truly believe that everyone at Codeup had my back and I could call them today for help and they'd do what they could for me. If you're looking to break in tech I would strongly encourage you to consider Codeup. If anyone has questions about my experience feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn 👍Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

Best Decision I've Ever Made
Before Codeup, I was a home-health, Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant. After a couple of years, I felt overworked and drained. Although, the work was satisfying, I felt I had to start thinking about what else I was good at.
Then, as I was on my way to a patient's home, I found a Codeup billboard near Splashtown, a waterpark in San Antonio, that said “drive to a job you love” and I took it as a sign. I thought, “I want to drive to a job I love!” I had also heard from Codeup from someone I knew that went the Web Development route. She told me how Codeup changed her life for the better and that she was happy she made the transition from her previous career into the one she has now. She answered my questions, helped me through the whole process (application, pre-assessments, prework, scholarships, etc.) and frequently asked me how I was doing in my coursework.
At first, I was a little worried about tuition payment, but once I got started in the application process, they held Zoom meetings where they would talk about all the funding options. They made it really easy and answered all of my concerns. I realized I didn’t have to be scared about the financial aspect. I applied to a couple of grants and was able to get about a third of my tuition covered through the Train for Jobs SA grant from Workforce Solutions Alamo. That really helped me. I also received a few different scholarships from Codeup and the rest of it was a loan from Meritize.
It was difficult leaving something I was comfortable and familiar with to start something new with no data science background, but I’ve have always enjoyed these tech skills. Once we got into the pre-assessment work and then the prework leading up to class, it showed me, “okay this IS what I wanted to be doing.” I really enjoyed it, thought it was fun, and knew this was for me.
Overall, I really enjoyed the program. We were in Zoom the whole time because of the pandemic, but they made it slow, nice, and easy. The instructors are great. Every single instructor helped me at one point or another, teaching things from ground zero and explaining everything really nicely in a way I can understand. They taught us how to learn. They didn’t just give us the work and tell us exactly how to do it.
Now after graduating from Codeup, I’m a Business Intelligence Analyst at Liquid Web. I’ve been here almost three months now and I’m contributing to so many projects. I really feel like a true member of the team. I can figure things out for myself and my bosses are telling me how well I’m doing and how far I’ve come since working here. I didn’t have to ask for help or training, because Codeup prepared me well and taught me how to learn when I run into skills they don’t teach. It’s been really good.
I’m so glad I made this change. It was scary to take that leap of faith, but ultimately, I’m really glad I did. I love my job and I love what I’m doing. If anyone is a little sad or struggling to find their best fit, I recommend looking into Codeup and going through their process. I’m extremely happy where I am right now.
