I completed the data analytics course on Turing college recently and here are some of the impacts on me

✅ Upskilling Beyond Expectations:
Turing College’s syllabus is hands down the most comprehensive I’ve come across. I gained advanced data analysis and machine learning skills using Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python, and more. I especially appreciated how they incorporated essential soft skills alongside technical ones, ensuring I’m equipped to thrive in the real world.

✅ Real-World, Industry-Level Projects
What sets Turing College apart is its project-based approach. Every lesson culminated in an industry-level project, and I completed 14 of them, ranging from Churn, Retention, and Cohort Analysis to Customer Segmentation (RFM), Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Funnel Analysis, and A/B Testing. The rigorous review process, involving peer and team lead evaluations, ensured my work met high standards and solidified my learning.

✅ Enhanced Presentation & Communication Skills
Another standout feature was the focus on presenting findings effectively. I had 27 project reviews (from peers, junior team leads, and senior team leads), which significantly boosted my ability to communicate insights confidently to various stakeholders. By the end of the program, I could create appealing visuals and present with clarity and impact.

The college utilizes a sprint-based learning approach where students acquire skills and then apply them to new projects or data sets. Each sprint is evaluated by a peer who has already completed it and by an industry expert. This process offers a valuable opportunity for growth through constructive criticism, respectful exchanges, and gaining industry insights.
Weekly stand-up meetings are conducted for status monitoring, allowing students to share their sprint experiences with peers from the same batch and receive support and industry insights from the senior team lead, who is an industry expert.
Turing College also ensures ample support for students by offering numerous open sessions with tutors each day, where students can ask questions about the material and their projects. Additionally, the chat systems, with channels dedicated to each sprint and general course-related topics, foster an environment of continuous learning and collaboration.
The Turing Team demonstrated their understanding and open-minded support, especially when everyday life interferes with a student’s learning progress. This supportive environment is something that many wish to see mirrored in the industry.
A word of advice for prospective students: do not underestimate the time required for reading material and programming for the projects. The initial sprints might seem easy, so, if possible, aim to complete them well before the deadline. The extra days gained can be crucial for tackling the more challenging modules later on. Excelling in this course can mean a near full-time job - but it's boosting your competence and confidence regarding ML!

Turing College has been very supportive of the fact that I work full-time and have made fair accommodations to allow me to stay on track with my studies without compromising my work. I enjoy that the graded tasks, while very challenging, reflect what would be asked of someone operating in the Digital Marketing field. My experience at Turing College so far has been a great one. They have met every single expectation I had and they actually walk their talk.

At Turing College, you learn real-work/industry skills. There are some skills that I have now eg, SQL, Tableau, etc. that I learned from my studies at Turing college. 

There are always professionals to support you along the way. My personal favourite is the Open Sessions, where you can hop on a meeting and ask for help on projects or anything you do not understand while studying.

Also, it doesn’t matter if you work full-time or not, the program is very flexible and it caters for your needs no matter how busy your schedule may be.

I would say it is definitely worth the money.

I'm finishing the last parts of the Turing College Data Analytics course and want to share my experience with those who are considering joining.

Community:
The colleagues and lecturers I have met are goal-oriented and very motivating. Studying is not easy, but with the support of others, even if you need encouragement, the journey becomes much easier. And if you have any questions about your studies, Turing College offers several ways to get help very quickly. 

Flexibility:
This was very important for me personally to be able to plan my study time and reviews of projects by myself.

Study materials and projects:
I can say that the study material covers all the information needed for the subject and even encourages you to go deeper if you want. In addition, you can put this knowledge into practice in projects (which are challenging) that are reviewed by experts in the field. And that's great, because they review your individual work and give you feedback based on their practical experience. You will also get invaluable advice that will help you continue to perform better as a professional.

So, in conclusion, Turing College has exceeded my study expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to become a data analyst and join this community. Read less

After 20 years in administrative work, I decided to change my career. I chose the Data Analytics course at Turing College, and I found the program extremely useful. Data Analytics: started in August 2023, expect to finish in August 2024. 

Turing College gives a strong foundation in SQL, Tableau/Power BI and Python, has an excellent community of peers and mentors in industry, practical tasks that simulate the day-to-day role of a data analyst, and constant support throughout the job-hunting process. 

Positives: 

1)            The syllabus is strong and always being updated. 

Students are exposed to SQL in their first month of studies, going from beginner to advanced in a couple of months. (The final SQL project in the second month is the most advanced SQL task I have come across, so after completing that, my SQL skills were elevated to the level expected for a junior data analyst. Turing ensures that we build on and reinforce those SQL skills in later modules, to the point where I now feel very confident in my technical skills). 

As for Python, when I joined the module was just over a month long, so I have some basic knowledge of Python, enough to apply to logistic regression and risk analysis. Recently, however, Turing has updated the syllabus to put more emphasis on the importance of students having strong Python skills, so the module has now been expanded to a three-month module. I think this is excellent and shows that Turing has its finger on the pulse of current industry trends and requirements. 

2)            Industry professionals are easy to access and provide great mentoring. 

With a couple of exceptions, every project (between 10 and 15, depending on the specialisations you choose) is reviewed by an industry professional (from companies such as IBM, Vinted, Western Union, etc…), so you get very detailed feedback, an insight into how this project would be approached in the real world, and an opportunity to build a relationship with a potential mentor. 

3)            The community is very active and supportive. 

Open sessions are held multiple times a day to help learners if they’re stuck on a project, while weekly standups give learners a chance to interact with other people who started at the same time as they did (in the presence of an industry mentor), which helps foster a great community feel. 

Even though the studies are online, I have made a new friendship group from my studies, something that I haven’t experienced when studying online elsewhere (e.g. in my MSc programme at university). 

There are also dedicated weekly standups for those who are in the endorsement and hiring stage, which helps to guide you during the job search. 

Any negatives? 

I have heard the occasional complaint about the quality of some peer reviews, but I would say this is the exception rather than the rule. All of my peer reviews have been good, many have been exceptional, and anyone reviewing your work must have passed the project already, which gives some quality control. 

I would be wary of expecting to finish the programme in the time it says on the website. It says 6-10 months for the data analytics programme, but 10 months is more realistic than 6. Those who finish in 6 may complete the core modules, but if you want to get the most out of the programme I think it makes a lot of sense to take as many specialisation modules as you can (of which Python is one), so you should assume it will take longer than you think. 

Will it get me a job? 

I can’t speak from my experience, because I’m not at the stage where I’m applying, but a few people from my batch have already landed data analyst jobs, despite not yet finishing the programme. Turing’s endorsement/hiring preparation process is rigorous, and from speaking to friends outside of Turing, we learn more in-depth SQL at Turing than we would need in our day-to-day job, so I’m confident that the transition from Turing to the job market will be smooth. 

As with many things, you get out what you put in. If you’re dedicated to switching careers into data analytics, I'm confident that you will find the programme at Turing very rewarding.  Read less

I highly recommend the Data Science Program at Turing College. The program is well-structured, self-paced, and the support from the college is exceptional. They are quick to help rather than being stubborn, ensuring that any issues or questions are promptly addressed.One of the standout features of the program is the availability of the Junior Team Leads (JTLs), who are accessible almost all day, every day. I am happy that I have the chance to learn at Turing College! It is super nice that you have the option to learn at your own pace and connect with many motivated people from different backgrounds. This course is suitable for people without marketing experience as well. The training material covers a wide range of topics and gives you the option to dive deeper into the ones that are most interesting to you. Additionally, you have the option to discuss and share insights with your peers. Turing has a super helpful community where everyone tries to help if you get stuck. There are many online events that can be useful for your future, and some in-person events that are very useful for networking. Finally, your feedback is valuable!
