Springboard is an online learning platform that prepares students for the tech industry’s most in-demand careers with comprehensive, mentor-led online programs in software engineering, data science, UI/UX design, cybersecurity, tech sales, healthcare, and more. All Springboard courses are 100% online, remote, and self-paced throughout an average of 6-9 months. Springboard acts as a support system, coach, and cheerleader for working professionals who are ready to level-up or make a major career shift.     Challenging but worth it!

    My experience taking the UX/UI Design Career Track course has been a long, but rewarding one. The coursework is essentially sources from online, which anyone can access. 
    However, Springboard curriculum shines in that students are able to practice hands-on design skills through 4 portfolio projects, one of which you work with fellow design students and an industry client/ company. These projects are reviewed by hiring managers who give feedback for improvement. Additionally, the student is paired with a mentor that guides the student through learning the material and ideally, motivates them. Springboard's support team is great about getting back to you in a timely manner and making sure your questions are answered. I felt they tried their best to work with me on scheduling course extensions.
    For me, the biggest challenge with the framework of this curriculum is that it is self-study/paced. If you struggle with time management, this will likely be challenging for you. There is a student Slack channel where you can connect with other students to study together virtually, but other than that I'm not aware that there was any other way to find peer support till the final project.  
    Overall, I think if your strengths lie in time management and consistency, taking this course would be great, especially if you are transitioning careers. The greatest value I found is 1) industry mentor, 2) hands on experience with the material and quality projects to add to your portfolio, and 3) working with an industry company. Negatives are the price and lack of peer community.

    I had a great experience

    I had a really good experience with the program.  I have a family and the ability to do the work on my own schedule was crucial for me.  A lot of the times I was working very late at night after my kids went to bed.  I had a good experience with my mentor and the support team anytime I had a technical question or a question about the course.  This course is great if you can stay self motivate (the mentors and some of the lessons help with this).  All in all I would recommend it to someone who needs flexible learning times and is ok with self teaching and doing research when they get stuck.

    Worth It

    The cybersecurity career track program was much more difficult than I anticipated. Regardless, I was able to complete the course thanks to my mentor and assistance fom the advising team. 

    Some things i wouldve done different:
    1. Utilize my mentor more. They can only help you if you ask.
    2. Consistency. I had some personal things get in the way of me being consistent. If I wouldve been more disciplined and consistent i wouldve finished sooner.
    3. Persistence. Dont give up even when you think you cant do it. Keep going.

    The certification prepared me for real web based projects

    I liked the way the program was set. As you go through the course, you learned the basic essentials and were encouraged to learn new topics, such as NoSQL. Also, I liked how the capstones really made you think like a real developer. Plus, the support from the Career Services was really nice. If there was one thing I could change, it would be the depth of the basics about HTML and CSS taught during the first few lectures of the bootcamp.

    Not worth the money

    I decided to go with springboard because of the job guarantee, but it's a joke. They extended me 3 months for the job market and then 3 months for not living in a metro area, but when I pointed out that I do they back pedaled and said I would have gotten a 6 month extension for the job market so it evens out. Most of the course is taken from other places like data camp and linkedin learning. You can find all the information on your own for much cheaper.

    Good for self-directed students

    Just recently graduated, I think the curriculum was pretty good. I learned a lot of useful skills, concepts, and disciplines from working through the course-work, working with my industry expert mentors, and filling in the gaps here and there when needed. Admittedly there are a few moments where the coursework doesn't cover something that seems like it would be important, or there are sections in the curriculum that are still noticeably undergoing updates, but I think that's unavoidable when you're teaching technology and skills that are constantly evolving.
    All that being said, my main gripe with the bootcamp is how independent the coursework was. There is an unfortunate lack of group work. A group project would be very a good experience and achievement for students' portfolios. This isn't as big of an issue if you're determined and have good self-discipline, ultimately skills that are important to pick up if you're going to be software engineer. 
    Another issue I had was that I switched coding mentors about three times. The first one I really liked but he had a falling out with the school and mentor program. The second mentor I had was well-meaning, but ultimately not a great fit for me, and due to personal reasons had to stop mentoring abruptly. My third mentor has been the best by far though. I wish there was some sort of trial period for mentors at the beginning of the bootcamp where you could switch around mentors, like how you're able to try out different career coaches.
    So if you're looking at Springboard for your next programming bootcamp, know that all the resources and job guarantee are just that, resources. It's up to you to make the most of it, so ask any and all questions as soon as possible. You get industry experts for mentors, both technical and career. They signed up for the job, so ask them as many questions as you can.

    Great experience

    This was a great way for me to continue my learning for my career while still allowing me flexibility for my job and family. The mentor was great to stay on track as well as answering my questions or concerns in a judge free way. The multiple tools and applications used made it really easy to learn the material.     Great course for Non-Procrastinators

    Springboard's UX design bootcamp was great, except for some hiccups. The mentors aren't all great and it's up to you to make a connection with them, so I would suggest requesting different ones if you don't feel it's a good match. You're kind of alone in this course and the Slack channel is kind of random and includes people from so many different cohorts, so it's not very organized and people just promote their projects. You should of course use it to get people to test your own capstone projects though! The student advisors aren't helpful unless you ask for help. If you are a procrastinator like me and require some accountability and goal setting, ask to be set up with a springboard advisor to give u a weekly call! The job guarantee is only for people who have prior job or ux design experience really, so if you don't get it, it doesn't feel like you are truly cared about or helped - maybe also because so many of the units are therefore optional. For example, all the career units will be optional if you are not eligible for the job guarantee.

    Motivating and Supportive Experience

    The course was extremely organized and easy to navigate (user experience of their online platform - 5 stars!). It was challenging to power through the course since I was working at the sale time. But I felt supported by my mentor and the springboard team. There are office hours and additional resources..so if you put in the time and effort, you will gain a lot from this course. I started with 0 experience working in Healthcare and honestly I am not very tech savvy. But I feel much more equipped to jump into the field (still nervous though) because of the skills I've gained with the capstone projects. The only con is that it is a bit pricey.

    How Springboard Helped Me Break Into Data Science

    I had a great experience with Springboard’s Data Science Career Track. The curriculum was very well-structured, with a good mix of theory and hands-on projects that helped me understand real-world problems.

    What I liked the most was the personalized mentorship. My mentor gave me very helpful feedback and career advice that made a big difference for me. The career services also helped me improve my resume and get ready for interviews.

    A worthwhile endeavor for anyone seeking a change in their career or to start a new one.

    I just completed my entire course and am awaiting my certificate! Springboard has been a great bootcamp overall in my experience. As an individual who was working full-time and finishing assignments, projects, etc., I loved the admin and support's flexibility in helping me achieve my goals. I had a great mentor who provided invaluable feedback and guidance on getting me closer to finishing this curriculum. I found the workload, networking, and endeavor to be worthwhile because for me it meant something, not just completing a bootcamp. 

    While this bootcamp provided great coursework, a structured plan on how to teach the student what is needed of an engineer from A to Z, and a supportive community of co-students and alumni, it's important to note that working through all of this doesn't mean that you're guaranteed a job at your front door. Like any other tech bootcamp, choosing to dive into such a journey requires that you be prepared and fully committed, considering your professional and personal lifestyle, how this will fit into your schedule, and ultimately what it will mean for you to achieve completion. In other words, you'll get the most value out of this if you're really set on achieving a career and being inspired and motivated by your personal reasons. Only you can make this work for you - the bootcamp is there to help launch you at the right trajectory.

    Additional feedback: I'd say that while the admin and support team have been great, there were times when confusing answers were given if I needed help with something (outside the coursework). I also never got to communicate with my original advisor after a few instances, but the advising team still helped. Some improvements in communication and providing accurate details of Springboard's policies would be great for future students.

    That and everything else being said, I had a great time as a student here. I found lots of great value in the lessons taught and their guidance on how an engineer should think and operate, networking advice, community support, and much more! Currently ready to embark on a new career, I hope learning with Springboard will be worth something to you!

    Learned a lot technically and professionally

    • The Springboard Data Analytics course was well-structured, starting from basics and building up, with plenty of opportunities for practice.  
    • This was then complemented by the regular mentor sessions with an industry expert, where I could discuss any queries and receive feedback or additional materials.  I also appreciated the encouragement that came from checking in with a real person.
    • I completed the course within 6 months alongside working full-time so I valued the flexibility to work through the course at my own pace, using the curriculum guide and dashboard to set weekly targets and stay motivated.
    • The career coaches I spoke to were very knowledgeable and up-to-date, giving useful insights and individualized feedback.
    • The customer service was great, giving friendly and prompt replies to all my logistical questions. 
    • The student slack and network was useful for learning from other students doing the course and for building connections.

    Overall I learned a lot from the course both technically and professionally, and felt it was reasonably priced compared to alternatives.

    Thoroughly prepared

    I had to do some research on various bootcamps, reading articles, and reviews before I enrolled in Springboard. My primary goal was to build a solid portfolio that I could use in job applications. What made me draw in Springboard is the Industry Design Project, where you're matched with a real company to work on a project for several weeks. This hands-on experience is exactly what employers seek when hiring. 

    The course was quite challenging for me as I had to balance my current job and relationship while working through the curriculum. Fortunately, Springboard provides tools that help you stay on track to graduate. The most difficult aspect for me was mastering the research methods, which involved extensive reading and writing. However, the design portion was easier due to my background in graphic design. The only criticism I have is some article Springboard provide are either 404'd or behind paywall. On the plus side, you have a mentor who meets with you weekly to answer questions and review your assignments. 

    Springboard UX Design Track bootcamp does requires time and commitment. It's ideal for those who are genuinely committed to becoming UX designers, enjoy taking on challenges, and excel in problem-solving environments.

    Springboard Software Engineering Career Track

    When compared to other programs for Software Engineering, Springboard's may seem relatively expensive and long, but the length is actually a major strength and they provide so many options for payment and have been nothing but flexible for me during the course. The content of the program is the best part of the whole deal. They cover a wide breadth of important software engineering concepts from the theoretical to applied. Already the information studied has been helpful in navigating interviews for engineering positions.

    The only con I had with the program, is that there are parts where they are shifting which frameworks, libraries, or deployment sites that they are using, but their videos/documentation for those subunits feel like copy-and-paste sections that have not been smoothed over yet.

    I would highly recommend this school.

    Fantastic

    I had the best chance to succeed with springboard, at first I had my doubts but within the first few weeks I knew this was the program for me. The curriculum was a perfect balance of push yourself and not too hard. The mentor team is where they separate themselves from the rest, every one of their mentors are extremely supportive, knowledgeable and willing to help you anytime you ask. I had some medical issues and springboard accommodation team was always there to support and assist me. If someone is considering a career in cybersecurity I would highly recommend springboard.
