Nucamp

I chose Nucamp as my coding bootcamp because I was looking for something affordable and flexible. Since I work full-time, traditional full-time bootcamps were not an option for me, which is why Nucamp is a perfect fit. I also appreciate that Nucamp offers a flexible option for non-Americans, as it would have been very difficult for me to keep up with fixed schedules given my work commitments.
I enrolled in the bootcamp because I wanted to fill gaps in my knowledge. I had already been programming before, but there were certain things I was missing. Nucamp helped me fill exactly those gaps.
I am glad that this bootcamp exists and would recommend it to anyone in a similar situation. The only thing I would change: the course should be updated more often. Also the website explanation could be better for the flex version of the course. Read less

I had been searching for a course on python for a while. Free courses are cool but i needed a little more guidance and Nucamp was great. The price and payment plan is good. Wish the down payment was just a touch lower but its good for my needs. Definitely works the brain and makes you think. The video instruction and Astro help allot and are also good. Teachers are helpful and the opportunity to work with other students is cool. I look forward to learnning more. Definitely a good start. Read less

I needed structure in my life and a bootcamp seemed like a good idea. The cost was high enough that I couldn't just ignore it, but reasonable compared to other bootcamps.
The curriculum is well thought out and the video lessons are well paced. That's genuinely the strongest part of the course.
However, there are real issues. The biggest one is the lack of practice and repetition. You are held by the hand a lot and rarely have to figure things out yourself. Even having finished the Python and SQL course, it still feels like I barely know anything. Some of that is probably imposter syndrome, but a lot of it is that the course simply doesn't challenge you enough or make concepts stick through repetition. Week 2 SQL was the exception, the assignment was genuinely difficult and that's exactly what more of the course should feel like.
Tutor availability was also a problem. Replies were slow, sometimes taking long enough that momentum was lost. When they did respond, it rarely felt like they wanted to help. More like they were reluctant and you had to push to get anything useful out of them. There was also a habit of pushing for quick calls instead of just answering the question in writing, which felt like they hadn't bothered reading it properly and just wanted to talk it out because it was less effort on their end. They did always answer eventually, but the overall experience felt more like an inconvenience to them than part of the service you were paying for.
Week 4 felt like filler. Data visualisation has little to do with backend development, and the assignment reflected that, being the easiest of the four weeks. More advanced SQL practice would have been far more valuable.
The Flex vs live class setup was confusing at signup. I expected live classes and ended up in self-paced without fully understanding the difference until I was already enrolled.
Billing is inflexible. It locks to your original signup date and cannot be changed. If you're late on a payment, access gets blocked immediately. This was a recurring issue for me.
Price-wise it's fair for a bootcamp, but if you're not planning to attend live classes, a Udemy course would likely serve you just as well at a fraction of the cost. Read less

I had been looking for a bootcamp, course, or class to help me learn to become a full-stack developer. I am currently a front-end developer but lacked confidence and direction. After I conducted some research into bootcamps and schools, my final decision would be based on 2 things I was looking for: 

1. Learning relevant and up to date code
2. A program that can help me elevate my coding skills and understanding of code.

After reading countless reviews from students and companies, I chose Nucamp. 

My overall experience at Nucamp is a positive one. I have had many "aha!" moments because of the program's strong curriculum, and I feel that the pace they move through the material is just right.

What confirmed I made the right choice, however, was the feedback from my instructor, Tien. It was thorough and fairly strict. I was surprised to find out he actually read my code and thought about ways to help me grow. It wasn't just a "good code" or "great job," comment, no. He mentioned various parts of my code, what he liked, and some things I did well. He followed up with things I didn't do so well and, if I was up for the challenge, some things I could work on to really make my work shine.

That is the type of attention to detail that is missing from many other bootcamps, programs, or classes. These instructors actually show they care and want to see us thrive.

Because of this experience, I definitely have a lot more confidence in myself and my skills, and I'm barely 6 weeks in. I'm definitely looking forward to what's to come. Read less

I chose Nucamp because it seems to be a good value for its price. The price is very reasonable compared to many other bootcamps. I was afraid that I wouldn't learn enough material in the given amount of time for each section of the Web Dev Fundamentals course. Each section is short, but it forces you to build bridges and fill in gaps with outside learning. I really enjoyed my course. And I feel like it's a solid choice for anyone who has time/budget constraints. If you're willing to do the extra work on your own, then it is a good fit. Read less

I read a few reviews on some forums and drew the conclusion that Nucamp was affordable. I have attended a much more expensive Full Stack bootcamp and withdrew due to the price and time limit of the course. This course was much more self-paced though the investment was still enough to motivate me to complete everything on time. My favorite instructor by far was Naasir Bush! Naasir was attentive and very enthusiastic about teaching. I recommend this boot camp for anyone who needs the extra motivation and has a few hours a week to dedicate to assignments plus 4 hours one day a weekend for classes! Read less

Taking coding courses at a college didn’t make me feel like I could actually code by the end of class. I spent too much time worrying about things like writing papers and making sure they followed formats like MLA. At Nucamp, it’s all about the code—just pure, hands-on coding. You actually learn how to apply the skills, which feels amazing. I’m hoping to work as a fully remote web developer in the near future—front end, back end, or full stack. Read less

As a person in her late 40s, I have been pondering a career change into CS for over a year. I researched bootcamps that were local, national, university based, non-university based, etc. As soon as I expressed interest, an advisor reached out to me and I found him (Dean) to be warm, welcoming, and helpful. NuCamp offered the quickest schedule and that appealled to me since I am looking for a new career. For a while, I had been searching for a coding bootcamp that I could afford. I went through countless self-paced courses and got stuck in endless tutorial cycles. Nucamp made it easy for me to join, pay in installments, and even receive part of my tuition through one of their scholarships. So far, I am enjoying the learning journey: small classes, a supportive instructor, and projects that help you progress and encourage you to push yourself.
This is exactly what I was looking for, something to build my confidence in coding rather than frustrate me.

I enrolled into Nucamp because I wanted to further my knowledge of programming. It was the right decision. It has given me the basic knowledge of Python (so far) to understand the language more fluently. I was working as a Software Tester for several years.  While taking the Front-End course, despite it being focused on the developer needs, I learned so many things that would have helped even as a tester.  Every instructor I've met so far has been very knowledgeable, and happy to help explain topics as needed, while still encouraging learning and practice over rote memorization.  Discussion and learning with others on their development journey is an excellent bonus that can't easily be duplicated with one-on-one workshops.  If you get this opportunity, I can't recommend it enough. Nucamp exceeded my expectations and I hope that I can take what I have learned to the next step. I have taken the Full Stack Web Development and Web Development Fundamentals Course atb Nucamp to refresh my skill set in web development. The program itself is beginner friendly and will introduce you to a lot of Technical aspects of Web Development.

I have really enjoyed the courses and everyone is very friendly on the discord community and will really help you to level up and resolve any issues along the way. I highly recommend the program if you are interested in diving in to the world of Web Development and coding. Read less

So far I've only done the 5 weeks of the Python course from the stance of someone that's only done HTML before actively and dabbled into C++ and python barely and not done well/failed. This course and instructor Michael lit the match that started my passion for coding and gave me tools to assist me in my future endeavors.
