MAX Technical Training

I graduated form MAX Technical Training's Full-Stack Coding Bootcamp. I highly recommend this program. I did a lot of researching when deciding which bootcamp to attend. I decided on this one because the languages and Stack aligned with my desired list of technologies I wanted to learn. However, I received so much more than I expected. My Instructors were, and have been very attentive to all of my  questions and struggles. My career coach has guided me every step of the way through job search. She has always been available when I need to talk. The staff as a whole is nothing but attentive and supportive. And even though I have completed my training and career search, they are still there for me. As I am starting my new and first role as a software developer, my instructor is supporting me through my required learning. When they say they support you and give you every tool available to succeed, they mean it. I cannot say enough good things about them. I will also mention that I was a virtual student in a class of in-person students. The instructors made sure that I was included in all class interactions and exercises. I have made so many friends and connections through this experience. It has truly been life changing for me and my family.  

When I decided to change careers and attend a coding bootcamp, I reviewed many options.  I ultimately chose Max Technical Training as it appeared to have a more personable approach.  After attending, wow that is not an understatement.  They are very personable and make you feel like part of their family from the first day to post graduation with alumni events to help with networking.  Even though I mostly attended remote, I never felt like an outsider.  The bootcamp was amazing with instructors that are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about you learning.  It was the best choice I have ever made!

This experience allowed a validation process to commence internally that will last eternally. Instructors answered all questions - success is the only option. They teach everything they know due to real-world experience. The curriculum provides multiple streams to success for what best fits you. Cohorts, we were forged by fire and will always have that connection. Career Coach Annette is a wealth of knowledge - the cherry on top of the success model MAX Technical Training delivers.

I was given the opportunity to attend the MAXimum coding bootcamp with Max Technical Training on the VRAPP program for veterans. Before I attended bootcamp I tried going the school route to become a software engineer after a few semesters and several interviews I realized I still didn't have enough "hands on" experience. This bootcamp provided me with tools and knowledge that I can use to continue my path to achieving my goal, I even have a few projects from this experience. Most importantly, the MAX family cares from the staff, to the instructors & career mangers AND the CEO! You will be in good hands with MAX!

The MAX Technical Training Agile IT Business Analytics Bootcamp was the best decision I have made. As a young adult, college was not the right fit for me so finding out about this training program was perfect. All of the instructors are so knowledgeable and share tons of real world experience with you as you get to participate hands on in the variety of classes. It was a great course, but it wasn't easy. It was very intensive and you have to work hard to get through it successfully, but in my experience it was completely worth it. The IT Business Analytics Program seems to be a bit of a new program to MAX so there were a few bumps a long the way, but overall it was a great program.

Discovering I could learn again was an amazing experience. Not only did I become aware that I could learn how to learn but I was able to learn and understand more about myself as a result of EVERYONE at MAX Technical Training. The growth both personal and professional was a huge take away. 

Being force feed from the firehose all the technologies was a bit much but understanding that the overview of the small amount of ever changing information that is out there is part of the "Learning How To Learn"  process that settled in to my brain as I process all that I accomplished.

Learning from Greg Doud was an amazing experience. The knowledge, the history, THE WIT, and the compassion was all enough to make this an amazing journey but the entertaining aspect of his teaching style and his ability to adjust to every student's learning style struck me as the strong point to having him as an instructor. A HUGE "Thank You" to Greg!

I do prefer the hardcopy books, that I purchased outside of MAX, over the digital copies that were part of the curriculum. Trying to manage all the screens while actually programing seemed a bit much but I also understand that was my choice and a real world situation that I will encounter from here on out. 

Kudos as well to Kevin Newkirk and Kim Peace for being a large part of our journey as well. Constantly checking on us and being involved in our progress showed they were in our corner and provided a sounding board on a few occasions. Their support was another added bonus in every student's ability to succeed.

To Annette Ballard - I can not say enough about the knowledge and compassion to see individuals progress, succeed and start their new journey in an exciting career change. The investment she made, and continues to make, in my journey alone speaks volumes, let alone the other 13 students in my cohort (and the second online cohort going on at the same time). THANK YOU!

Coming from a background where I (and others) have constantly felt like just a number for a company to rack in money it is nice to feel part of a family. I had that feeling twice before: The U.S. Army and the first band I started when I exited the military. Everywhere else I have been there seemed to be little concern, care or investment made into those that "Make Things Happen". That's why I left my employer in Dec. 2021 and decided to "Make It Happen" for myself. SURPRISINGLY I found a home at MAX Technical Training. EVERYONE CARES! Everyone is invested in seeing the success of those who take the steps to change their lives. Having talked to other alumni and attending a few of their social events it's clear that the love does NOT stop when you graduate!

Now in my third day of onboarding at Protiviti - Americas Delivery Center as an Analyst 3 I am having feelings about the welcoming family vibe once again. Manifesting that same culture as a result of 13 weeks of that at MAX has restored my faith in the fact that there are those that care about more than money. 

I have always said, "If you take care of those that work with you, they were take care of you."

 It was March of 2022 when I began the nine-week long journey at MAX Technical Training. At the time, I had quit my position as an Associate Planning Specialist and knew that I wanted to further my education and experience. When I heard about MAX, my focus for the school had been prioritized. I knew it was going to take a ton of commitment, time, and patience. And, it did! Eventually, I graduated the boot camp with more than I could have ever imagined. The team and staff at MAX is determined and persistent in ensuring that their students come out of the boot camp successful and confident. At MAX, I received certification in Scrum and ITIL as well as a certificate in the role of an IT Business Analyst. Since graduating the boot camp in May of 2022, I have been hired at Great American Insurance Group as an Associate Business Analyst and I could not be more pleased. If anyone is searching for a training program that will mentor you to your fullest potential, then this program is it! Not to mention my wonderful career coach who has assisted me entirely throughout the camp to form a resume, effective job search, and education in the emotional intelligence within a professional work environment. 

I learned of MAX Technical Training through the Apprenti program (a professional IT apprenticeship placement organization), and I can say without question that this was one of the best experiences of my life. The instructors all bring years of real-world experience, having worked for/consulted with major tech companies around the country. They applied their professional expertise to the course material from start to finish. During this boot camp, I received an introduction to business analysis and project management and sharpened my skills in tools such as Microsoft Excel and SQL. The boot camp also introduced me to technologies utilized by business analysts, including Tableau and PowerBI. Finally, we had the opportunity to develop our interpersonal skills through a series of workshops on emotional intelligence, LinkedIn, and the Gallup Strengths Finder. Throughout the training, the instructors were kind enough to answer any questions I had and would challenge me to apply my knowledge through workshops and homework assignments.

I highly recommend MAX Technical Training to anyone seeking a career in the IT sector. The consistently high level of professionalism among the instructors and the thorough curriculum make this an opportunity you can't pass up. 

Full-time and remotely, I attended and finished the Full Stack bootcamp. Although I was working from home, I felt as if I were in the classroom with the other students and instructor. The learning curve is tough and needs a great deal of effort and dedication, but the mentorship system is fantastic and makes the entire process much easier. Max is really interested in assisting you with your studies as well as your job search. I can't say enough positive things about it and would highly recommend it as a first step into technology and a new life.

The team at MAX truly cares - they go out of their way to help you succeed.  I personally had some family issues pop and they worked with me to ensure I knew I wasn't alone, we had a game plan, and I wasn't going to fall behind.  

What I enjoyed most about learning is the relatable real-world examples provided by the teacher that made "connecting the dots" much easier.  He was also great at navigating the nuances of teaching a class of 14 that learned at different paces.

Alongside technical development, MAX takes a holistic approach and had various guest speakers/trainers to assist us with soft skills, networking, and social media presence.

I'm thankful and happy I chose MAX.

MAX technical training is an amazing bootcamp that has a tailored curriculum towards current market demands. The instructor is very knowledgeable and does an amazing job at teaching you the required skills and technology in demand. In about 13 weeks I had gone from not knowing how to program to being able to make my own website, which I did. I made my own portfolio and I made a website for someone else, both are in production and on their own server. After graduation the career coach did an amazing job at coaching me on how to make my resume stand out. From key words that companies use in their search software to resume structure, she knew it all. After years of helping people find jobs she also helped me find mine. From day one to the day I got my offer, MAX held my hand the whole way through. Being at MAX everyday felt like having a family away from home, everyday it was always welcoming and I was eager to go. I am glad that I decided to pursue the boot camp path instead of the college path.

This was a full-stack developer boot camp. The boot camp was full time. Meaning 9AM-4PM Monday-Friday. The boot camp was 15 weeks long. The first topic we covered in boot camp was GitHub. This has been an essential piece to what I do day to day in my current role as a Software Developer. We then covered SQL Database and SSMS. Next we covered core coding languages, C# with the .NET framework and Java. Lastly we covered UI and front-end technologies and languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript and HTML/CSS. Some of the tools we used during the boot camp include GitBash, Visual Studio, VS Code, SSMS and more. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to lay their knowledge foundation for Software Development. 

I took 2020 as a opportunity to find what I truly want to do with my life. I graduated college with a degree in Psychology, I then was on my way to getting my Master's in Social Work to be a licensed therapist. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I was halfway through I realized that's not what I wanted to do. I had a few jobs at the zoo and hospital to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. It wasn't until I sat down with my dad, who was a IT manager at the time, that I discovered my love for problem solving and technology. 
He told me about MAX and how amazing their program is. I was very hesitant because I had no idea what to expect and I didn't want to fail. The staff at MAX were amazing and helped me build my confidence. I took their entrance exam and passed. Even after the exam I didn't feel confident enough that I could do it until talking with one of the instructors, Greg. He could be a motivational speaker. After a conversation with him I was excited to get ready. 
I had never heard of any of the languages and technologies they spoke about, nor what they were for. I had zero knowledge and experience. We started off with Git and GitHub, moved to SQL, then .NET where we learned a little bit of JAVA as well. Lastly, we learned the front end development. The instructors were determined to help all of us succeed. They made sure we were understanding the material and answered everyone's questions. They would use their lunch breaks to help students or contact a recent graduate to help tutor. However, the help didn't stop after graduation. Their job assistance program was very helpful growing our network and keeping up with us on how the job hunt was going. They are a determined and truly caring bootcamp family. They want everyone who walks into their door to leave with their certificate and find a job as soon as they graduate. 
I am still amazed at how much I learned. Going from absolutely no knowledge what so ever about any of these languages and technologies to being able to create programs is an amazing feeling. 

This boot camp offered over 20 different coding technologies. A lot of these were both front and back end coding languages like JavaScript and C#. Receiving a full-stack coding education definitely helped me to stand out in the software development industry. The MAX Technical training, both technical and career, are top notch. Provided by professionals with over 30 years in their respective field, are very supportive and will do everything in their power to ensure that you are well prepared for your career shift.
Highly recommend just calling and seeing what this school has to offer, you will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for a place that cares more about making sure you are ready for the workforce instead of just pushing you through to graduate for the money, then look no further. The relationship I developed with the staff and other students still exists today. The staff at Max care about the quality and well being of the students and how they are learning and not the quantity of the number of students other schools just see as numbers to push through. The staff at Max and their bootcamp has truly changed my life. I am now a software engineer at a company I absolutely love and love being a Max Bootcamp Grad Alumni!

Decided to make a career change at 50. The experience I had at Max Technical Training had a powerful, positive impact on my life that continues today.  From the initial meeting to the on-site visit, through the course, graduation and job placement, Max Technical Training exceeded my expectations. From the first face you see to the company president, the staff and instructors are there to support you every step of the way. It wasn't always easy for me, but with their support I was able to reach my goal.  Today I continue to use the skills I learned in bootcamp and embrace the love of learning that was fostered at Max Technical Training.

After struggling to decide what I wanted to do when I grew up, I came across MAX Technical Training where I was able to learn all of the necessary skills needed to be a full-stack developer in one place. I was weary because of the cost, but financial aid was available which helped make my decision. The staff and instructors were extremely friendly and there for me every step throughout the bootcamp. They truly want each and every student to succeed and they work hard to make that happen. 
Before starting the bootcamp, I was working full-time and wasn’t sure a bootcamp would fit into my schedule. But once I found out that MAX had a part-time bootcamp.. I was sold! This was the best decision I ever made for myself and my career. I am now a software developer at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies and I’m extremely happy. I’m so grateful for each and every MAX employee that helped get me to where I am today!  

My experience is a little unusual. First, I attended the bootcamp through a job placement program and already had a job lined up at the end. Second, I started the bootcamp in March 2020, right when the lockdowns in Ohio started. We only spent one day in the classroom before they informed us that we would be meeting remotely, and we never met in person for class since.

They made sure we had the tools needed for at-home learning, including loaner laptops. I connected my laptop to my TV so I could view the daily classroom virtual meeting while taking notes and working on my own code. The instructor was available after class through the Slack app for additional questions, and checked in on us individually from time to time to see how we were doing. The class also met up on Discord on weekends to collaborate on homework. While it was difficult to learn remotely compared to in-person, we had lots of resources outside of lesson time.

The curriculum was very helpful for my position. Although I don't use Java very often in my job, the fundamentals taught at MAX allowed me to transfer those skills to new languages. The curriculum included all three layers of a web application, and we learned technologies and languages in current use. We received several textbooks for each language, including a MAX-created textbook for Git, MySQL, and Angular. I still refer to these from time to time. Curriculum also included a lesson in agile production and SCRUM procedures, something my workplace uses. There are several days devoted to assistance with finding a job, including professional resume development and review.

I would recommend MAX to someone interested in attending bootcamp in the Cincinnati area. Outside of my own positive experience, I have encountered several alumni at prominent companies in the city.

I learned very basic HTML/CSS to hard code webpages as part of my job right out of college. From there I learned more about development on my own. I realized that I had a passion for coding and developing, but I didn’t have any “actual” experience nor the formal education that is pretty much required for a job. 

My main reasons for attending a bootcamp were to advance my skills, network, and build my resume to make a career change, quickly and affordably.

I was undecided about rather I wanted to go more data science, web development, cyber security, or business applications.

I looked at the big name bootcamps, but felt that I wanted a program that had a relationship with the local organizations where I wanted to work. That narrowed down the list of programs significantly. An advantage that I saw with Max was that they offered more than just a bootcamp. They have been around for over a decade and truly had lasting relationships with organizations and a stable staff. I felt like Max was the best option for building a solid network in the Cincinnati area. 

Most of the other reviews cover curriculum and it changes, so I won’t get much into it. I will say Greg has plenty of “real world” experience and can give a good insight into life as a developer and business applications. 

In terms of career services, Annette is great and will work with you no matter how long it takes. As long as you are putting in the effort, she will support you. She welcomes you to reach if there is anything she can do to help, even after getting your first job. 

One of the biggest reasons to attend Max is the family-like environment that you can rely on no matter how long it has been since the bootcamp! If I new training in the future, Max will be my first resort.

One piece of advice: Take advantage of getting a SCRUM certification that is included as part of the bootcamp!

I believe the best way to find the best bootcamp is to ask about the curriculum and how much time is spent on a particular topic. The curriculum is what will give you an outlook on what personal goals you can accomplish in your training. 

Speaking for myself, I am an extremely curious person and want to learn everything there is to know before I start something new. At MAX, I was a brand new to software development and had no idea what I was getting myself into. The training was intense and at times I thought I wasn't going to be able to succeed in this profession. 

MAX was the best place for beginners and to those who just wanted to brush up on their skills. You may not retain all the information and skills that you learned in your time in training but you will gain the knowledge and awareness of what you need to do when you start at your new job. Also, not only will you have the help and support from your instructor(s) and staff but you will have help preparing you for your next steps after graduating from the bootcamp training.
I believe MAX is the best option because the doors at MAX are always open before and after your course is complete for any guidance you may need in your future endeavors.

For being one of the most brutal and most punishing schools I've been through, it's been the most rewarding no doubt. The staff is like nothing I've ever seen before. Everybody is always happy to see you and is always keeping the big picture in mind, the students. Their number one priority is the student and making sure they are always striving. Whether it be just having snacks or making sure there's always hot coffee, they're always trying to make sure that the student has the best experience and also has anything they could need to succeed. The instructors have been in the industry and they know everything that a student would need and a lot more. I got the pleasure of having Greg as my instructor and he was nothing but a blessing. He watches over everybody and is always making sure that there isn't anybody struggling, if somebody struggles a bit he has no problem spending time with you and making sure you feel comfortable before moving on. Even after they teach you everything you need to land a position they have this wonderful woman named Annette to help you find a job. Just like the boot camp, she's gonna be a little hard on you, but she does it because she knows what works. LISTEN TO HER!!!!! Along with Greg and Annette were Denise, Patricia, Kim, Kevin, Sean, and Jada. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to spend five day a week with for a couple months. I couldn't recommend Max Technical Training enough.

Max Technical Training was a great experience for me.  I love the small class size and Greg was a knowledgeable and great teacher that was always willing to help.  We even transitioned from in person to remote because of Covid and we were able to adapt and complete the class!  I developed a three-tier, full stack SPA, Purchase Request System (PRS) web application comprising a .Net Core Restful web service backend with SQL Server connected to an Angular 7 and Typescript front end.  Annette was also a great encourager and supporter as we looked for jobs in a very slow market because of Covid.   She worked with me on my resume and different strategies for looking and not getting defeated when I got rejected.  She helped me learn from the rejections and move forward.  Max Technical Training, has developed a great network of people, as well, connections to meet with others in the industry, whether you are looking for a job and want to connect or trying to find a group to connect and learn more. Max Technical Training helped me become a Software Engineer!
  

I had been wanting to attend the MAX Java bootcamp for years, but my work schedule never allowed it. Once they opened the part-time virtual bootcamp, the decision to attend was a no-brainer. The pace and flow of the course was ideal, the instructors were thorough, but understanding and make sure that everyone was on the same page as we moved through. Job assistance was invaluable, and continues long after the class has graduated. I'm SO very glad I went through the course, and would recommend it to anyone!

Max Technical Training changed my life.  I attended the .Net boot camp with a learning disability.  The instructors and administrative staff went out of their way to accommodate me and make me comfortable.  They care about each and every student and go the distance to ensure that they are successful!  The career placement program is top notch and helps each student to find the employer that is the right fit for them.

To preface, I'm writing this review from the perspective of a military veteran transitioning into the civilian technical work force.

I served in the military from 2011 - 2017 as a satellite communications technician. When I transitioned from the military to civilian life in 2017, I had committed myself to staying in the field of information technology and computer science. Prior to separating, I had no form of higher education, no college credit hours, and no solid plan for how I would make an entry into the civilian workforce. All I had was a dream and government funding in the form of the G.I. Bill. I found myself debating between two options; take the college plunge and spend the next 4 years earning a degree in hopes that it lands me a job, or attend a technical school specifically oriented to the field I was looking to find a place in. I decided college wasn't for me and ultimately I ended up enrolling in a .Net full stack development boot camp at MAX Technical Training. The boot camp was the best decision I could have ever made. It gave me all of the necessary skills and knowledge to be a competitive candidate in a field that I had a strong passion for. I can't thank the MAX staff and faculty enough for the opportunities that they have afforded me. However, the benefits that MAX Technical Training offer doesn't end at knowledge and skill. Once you graduate, the staff go above and beyond to help you find job opportunities and to give you the best possible chance at finding a position that you will no doubt be thrilled to fill. 5 stars is simply not enough for me to express how truly happy I am that I went with MAX Tech. I can not recommend them enough, particularly to veterans looking to make their way into the civilian technical workforce.

I had zero prior coding experience before attending the Java Bootcamp at MAX. I had registered at another local bootcamp and decided to change my enrollment to attend MAX after speaking to Greg at a open house. It was obvious to me how passionate he was about teaching and coding and gave me the confidence I needed to make my career change. 

As a former career teacher myself, I found Sean's instruction to be phenomenal. On top of being an expert developer, Sean really knows HOW to teach and guide each individual student in the class. His passion and dedication inspired me when the going got tough. I landed at my new job two days after graduation with only 11 weeks of coding experience!

If you are comparing local bootcamps, definitely attend an open house at MAX before making a final decision...I did after I thought I had made mine!

Overall, good experience. I was apart of the Apprenti program, we were the first cohort, so it was a learning curve for all. 

They now have an Apprenti only class, which was a good move 

Annette was awesome. She really knows her stuff and goes out of her way and makes sure that everyone lands that job they are looking for.

Sean was great at getting the class to really grow as friends.

My biggest piece of advice:

I had zero, i mean absolutely zero background in coding. They advertise as that's okay. However, when you're in class sitting next to someone who has been coding for years, it's intimidating. Not only that-- but of course, the instructors want to teach to them and move on, instead of spending more time on the basics. If that's always going to be the case, separate classes based on coding experience that way everyone can get the attention and education they need.

 

 

Life changing.

My entire career was opened up to me after just eleven weeks at MAX. Going from making 25,000 a year working seven day weeks 12 hours a day for months without a day off. To working for a fortune 500 company making 55,000 getting weekends off, great benefits, and amazing job security.

I owe MAX a lot turning my career around. I recommend the boot camp to anyone who has ever even thought about becoming a programmer.

I completed the Max Technical Training boot camp in Fall 2018. I choose Max for several reasons:

• Experienced instructors who update the curriculum each boot camp to stay current on tech.
• Ability to gain experience working on the full stack of software development
• Cost
• Convenience (for me)
• Its long-standing presence in the tech community.
• Career support for landing a job in the tech space.

Local boot camps all have career counselors that work with recruiting companies, the need for developers is so great. Though, finding a entry-level software developer position is tough without prior experience.

It took me four months to land my first software developer job with the support of the career counselor Max Technical Training.

I had worked in radio most of my life. I found myself unemployed, unsure what to do next. I decided to attend MAX's full-stack Java bootcamp. It was one of the best decisions of my life. 

The instructors at MAX were very knowledgeable and personable. They were always willing to help anyone understand any topics that were causing them problems. Their dedication certainly extended well beyond the classroom.  

Their staff was relentless in connecting us with potential employers. They wanted to make sure that everyone got a job. 

I will also make it clear - it was a lot of work. But, it got me a job. I now work as a full-stack Java developer making more money than I have ever made in my life. The world of radio will just have to get along without me. 

I am very glad I made the decision to attend MAX. 

 

 

 

 

Cincy Code IT/MAX Technical Training is a great place to learn coding. The whole staff is awesome, knowledgeable, fun, energetic and want you to succeed. The program is well setup and always adapting to get better. I attended Java bootcamp in 2017 and really enjoyed the program. The small class structure is really helpful to get you over the many hump, hurdles you will encounter. You will learn to work in pairs or group and learn how to code effectively.

If you are looking for a change into the IT field, or need new skills, this is a great program and I highly  recommend it.
