Tech Residency 43 was a truly transformative milestone in my journey toward becoming a software engineer. Stepping into the residency meant constantly encountering unfamiliar frameworks, ambiguous problems, and rapid iteration cycles, which initially felt overwhelming. However, under the guidance of our instructor, Elijah Jimenez, those challenges quickly turned into high-impact growth opportunities. Elijah brought an incredible mix of depth, patient mentorship, and real-world clarity to every lesson. He didn't just teach us how to write clean, maintainable code—he taught us how to think like engineers, break down complex systems, and debug with confidence and precision.Beyond the technical fundamentals, the most valuable lesson I took away from Tech Residency 43 was learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I learned to lean into uncertainty during development and treat friction as a sign of progress rather than a roadblock. A major highlight of the experience was discovering how to seamlessly integrate AI into any software project, leveraging modern LLMs and intelligent workflows to streamline development, accelerate problem-solving, and build smarter, more adaptive applications. Reflecting on the entire residency, I’m coming out with not just a stronger technical foundation, but the mindset and momentum needed to thrive anywhere in the tech industry.

I’ve been curious about coding for many years but was always too intimidated to try. The fear of failure felt overwhelming, and imposter syndrome made the idea of switching careers seem impossible. Taking the leap and enrolling in Coding Temple was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the most transformative. I learned so much, pushed through challenges I never thought I could handle, and came out with skills I never imagined myself having. Still, even after graduating, the imposter syndrome didn’t magically disappear — and that’s where the career coaches, Jael and Ellijah, have made an enormous difference.Jael’s workshops on interview strategies and LinkedIn optimization were incredibly helpful, and her personalized career search plans have genuinely reinvigorated my job search. She helped me see my strengths clearly and reminded me that I do belong in this field. Her guidance has renewed my hope that I can find the right role and thrive in it.Ellijah’s portfolio reviews and his support throughout the Tech Residency have been equally impactful. Learning new tools, improving my workflow, and understanding how to collaborate effectively with a team have all helped me feel more prepared to enter a new industry with confidence. The weekly reports built into the program — which both Jael and Ellijah review — also keep me accountable and focused, which has been essential during this transition.Their patience, consistency, and genuine investment in my growth have meant more than I can express. I’m deeply grateful for the support they’ve provided. It has truly made all the difference.

Working with Sarah Jael Cortez has been such an awesome experience. Her compassion, encouragement, and determination to help me reach my goals have meant so much to me. She has taken the time to truly hear and see me, and in such a short time has already given me clarity, peace, and the support I needed. She has really helped my transition from App Academy as an alumni to Coding Temple go smoothly. She is an excellent coach, and I am so grateful to have her in my corner during this journey.

Just finished the year-long software engineering residency at Coding Temple and I can't say enough good things about it. The program is the real deal. We worked on an actual production mobile app for an oil services company with real stakeholders, real deadlines, and a real team. By the end of the residency I had built out features touching React Native, Flask, Postgres, AI integration with Gemini and Claude, biometric authentication, GPS proximity verification, and offline-first sync. Nothing toy about any of it.Ellijah, Justin and Sara were a huge part of why this worked. As a teachers and mentors they were incredible support throughout the entire program. Patient with the harder concepts, sharp on code review feedback, and always available when something blocked the team. They treat students like teammates, which is exactly the energy you want when you're learning to work on real codebases.Highly recommend Coding Temple to anyone serious about transitioning into software engineering. The depth is there if you put in the work.

My experience in the Coding Temple Tech Residency was genuinely great. The program gave me real hands‑on exposure to how an engineering team actually works — daily standups, agile workflows, stakeholder meetings & collaborating as a team to build a full application from start to finish. Austin Carlson, our intern, was also incredibly helpful. He was always available if we needed clarification, had questions, or just needed someone to walk through something with us. Having both of them there made the whole experience feel supportive & collaborative.

The program's focus on both technical excellence and career preparation made me job-ready from day one. Coding Temple has taught me the necessary skills to become a software engineer, covering topics ranging from backend to frontend development in depth. The curriculum has introduced me to new, more advanced code writing while enhancing my prior knowledge. Instructors such as Yessica Sosa and Allen Ahmed are calm and informative, ready to answer any questions you have and guide you to the solution.

Taking off one star for errors in the specialization sections' lessons, there are missing parts of the code and sometimes incorrect instructions, requiring me to go outside the curriculum for explanations.

Overall, small errors in the course do not take away from the knowledge gained and the skills to change your career!

My experience at Coding Temple has been life-changing. As someone from a completely non-technical background, I was extremely nervous to begin my journey into the world of data analytics. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep up or understand the concepts—but Coding Temple completely changed that for me.From day one, the course was structured in a way that made learning feel approachable and manageable.
