Don't wait, contact brainstation and book an appointment with one of their advisors. Once I did, I was was convinced. I really believe the BrainStation bootcamp is the real deal. Years after I finished my first degree BrainStation has enhanced my confidence and reinvigorated my passion for continued learning.
I'm taking the time to leave this detailed review because I wish someone would have helped me start sooner.
If you only take one thing away from this review, let it be this. I felt more passion from BrainStation's faculty in three months than in my entire 4 years at uni. They care immensely about the service they provide and about the student journey. BrainStation is worth it.

There are some educators who are amazing and patient during lectures and there are some who zip through it. The diploma is condensed so every week moves very quickly - I'm able to schedule 1-on-1 times with TAs and educators whenever I am confused or need feedback to get myself back on track. Taking this bootcamp is a great stepping stone for me, as a novice, because it gives me a good introduction and a solid base to dive deeper into a specific aspect of UX and UI. Another thing I respect about BrainStation is that they have the connections that leverage us to partner with different big companies - my cohort was able to work on a design sprint with Hello Fresh, a 4D 24-hour hackathon with Google, and many power hour talks throughout the program! I am able to include these projects into my portfolio and resume that they also assist us with too. Make sure to double check with scholarships and that they are applied to your payments - there are a few options that may apply to you and there was a student in my cohort who did not receive it when she really should have gotten it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!Overall4.0Curriculum5.0Job support4.0Instructors4.0 -

Taking a 3 or 6 month bootcamp will not automatically make you a data scientist, but it will teach you fundamental concepts, provide the basics to understand what they are all about, and tools to start solving real problems. To become a data analyst or a data scientist you don't just need the bootcamp, it takes time and practice to master the tools and programs involved in these areas. What I can assure you is that Brainstation does an excellent job in giving you tools and knowledge to succed in these two paths. Before starting my three certifications with them in Data Science, Data Analytics and Python, I was only very good at Excel and Tableau and other Business Intelligence applications and data management software; but I had no knowledge of programming, Python, SQL or Machine Learning. After finishing the courses I feel that I understand what each language is made for, and how to use them; I learned new things from Excel and Tableau where I thought I knew almost everything, and I can solve basic to intermediate tasks using SQL and Python now. But I have to repeat this, practice, hard work, and curiosity are a must for you to become a Data Scientist or to find a succesful career in Data Analytics!
I would recommend this course not only for beginners who want to understand more about these topics, but also for managers of technology areas who want to know the breath of these languages in order to manage their teams more efficiently.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

I really wanted to get a better understanding about the work of a data analyst, and how to work more closely with data in my day -to-day life, so I took this course to help me understand how to interpret data and present it (either in a professional setting, personal writing and also within the scope of my job)
My cohort was taught by instructors from Hootsuite and Uber who were both really passionate about the topic and help you understand how you would take the knowledge on the job. They really took the time to help us understand the homework and course materials outside of class hours and were approachable whenever we had questions.
I learned so much about how to approach real-world problems and examples and create a way to tell a story with data. I learned how to write SQL commands and scripts in our databases, Excel advanced formulas and also how to visualize data on Tableau, all amazing skills to take with you on any career path you choose, I really recommend taking this course!
They were also really good and helping you understand the career paths you can take as a Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Analyst, so you'll be equipped to take on a entry-level role or dive deeper into the topic as a full time professional.

I've now taken both their Data Science and Machine Learning certificate programs, and I'll be commenting on the Data Science one here.
First off, the instructors I've had have been top notch. Andrew was my instructor this go round, and it was evident that this guy works data science for a living. You can tell by the way he codes, changes code on the fly at such speed, and debugs code when it's not working. He also seems to be genuinely enchanted with Data Science as a whole. He answered all questions, even my dumb questions, clearly and cleanly.
The course content itself is solid. I highly recommend you know Python prior to taking this course, rather than just knowing a programming language in general. Everything is coded in Python from day 1, to include using some more "advanced" features like list comprehensions, so having a good grasp of Python I think is integral to your experience with these courses. The only thing I really wasn't high on in the course content was the Statistics section; it's simply too large and broad of a topic to cover in the scope of this course. In my opinion, a basic statistics background should already be had before jumping into Data Science. Most classes and topics are like that, but the statistics portion really stuck out to me.
Jupyter notebooks are provided, so the material is flexible and easy to work with. The instructors provide solutions-included notebooks after the lessons, which is handy for someone like me that wants to watch them work the problems and then figure them out in my own manner later.
Due to the nature of these part-time courses, and the material covered in such a short time, don't expect to just listen to lectures and be good at Data Science. You will need to work through the Jupyter notebooks on your own time, and do additional research on your own as well. This should be expected for anyone who has ever coded before, but for those who might think it's a sit back and learn it all class, it's not that easy.
A hanging point for some people is that there's no 'job guarantee' or assistance with BrainStation. To those folks, I ask you do you truly believe that you're going to get a dream job out of a bootcamp's career assistance or guarantees? I think it's a worthless perk for the average student because you're going to have to know your stuff to be successful in the field anyway, and if you don't know your stuff, you're probably not going to stay in that job long even if it's given to you. It may work out for some, but I didn't see it as a requirement.
Overall, I would recommend BrainStation to others, particularly if your company is willing to help with the tuition.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job supportN/AInstructors5.0 -

The entire program was delivered online over the course of 3 months. It was based out of Toronto, but like I said, I worked from the comfort of my home without commuting anywhere. Here are some of the highlights and some considerations.
Highlights- Hands-On learning helps you learn fast and makes you feel competent at a fast pace
- Teachers who don't make you feel dumb for asking questions and try to create confidence in students while still remaining open to feedback
- Empathetic and available instructors to help you with the course, but also help you with the emotional aspect of switching your career
- TA's that work even more closely with you and answer questions immediately when you need help
- The course is meant to mimic the real world in so many ways, so that you feel confident when you enter the workplace
- Job search advice and seminars on how to tailor you resume and network with industry professionals
- Forces you to learn things beyond the course content, like time-blocking, which is essential when you do land a job in the industry
- Reading content and then immediately practicing it with your cohort helps solidify concepts
- You get to choose the topic of your capstone project so you feel pretty inspired by what you create
- Many Collaborative work opportunities, and learning to provide feedback from others as well as receive feedback from others on your work on a regular basis
Technology- Figma, Sketch, Invision
- We spent one day on principle and zeplin
Considerations- You're not going to learn everything there is to know about UX in this course, nor any course probably out there
- UX is about life-long learning. When I got my internship I took 3 more courses on the side b/c they were offered to me for free by the company sponsoring the internship, so if you are offered free courses, I recommend taking them. I learned lots afterwards and also on-the-job.
- I don't recommend working while taking this course as it starts out calm and goes into full speed before you know it
- No matter what course you take, it's going to be hard work switching over to that new industry without any work experience. There may not be alot of internships out there, but there ARE some and these are your best bet if you're not coming from a design background.
- It's not going to be easy, but if you love psychology and design, you will likely thrive
- Job Assistance, is NOT job placement. They teach you to create a great resume, talk about how to approach interviews (the most helpful bit) and also try to give you networking advice (which I found to be the least helpful tbh, but that may be because I had no connections to anyone in the industry & was just cold messaging people).
- It was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I am not an intern, making $15,000 more than I was last year and am doing something I find meaningful
