The best part are the teachers: very engaged, kind, willing to push further and give real world examples, and willing to give feedback and help. The class is both broad enough to cover all aspects of product management, but limited enough to have some tactical examples. 

This class is best suited for someone with little to no tech experience as it gives a broad primer to all PM activities and the tech landscape. For people already in tech or adjacent jobs, it can be a helpful refresher. The only suggestion I'd have is more IRL examples of how this applies to their jobs and past decisions they've made. So much of learning a new thing is by doing, and sometimes the templates and broad strokes were hard to visualize.  Read less

Helpful course, great instructors. Learned some useful best practices and tips. I wish we were able to get a little more hands on with certain features on Figma. Overall class is good, covers a lot of content over just 8 weeks.

Overall, I found the course to be informative and valuable. I suggest incorporating more hands-on training exercises throughout the course. BrainStation's coding bootcamp was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable "school-adjacent" learning ventures I have ever taken/been apart of. As someone who was never fond of school, the way It was taught and all the other annoyances with education, BrainStation managed to find a way to keep students engaged, involved and constantly learning. As a graduate of the online program I cant say I found myself losing focus, drifting off or becoming bored with the content material or how it was presented, and that is quite the difficult feat being fully online. BrainStation also allowed students to truly build a bond with like-minded engineers throughout the program, everyone was familiar with everyone and all had opportunities to work amongst each-other and learn together. The cohort and relationship building was probably one of my favorite things BrainStation does well which is not really highlighted in any of there documentation. I can't speak highly enough of the coding bootcamp experience. Read less

This course teaches basic to advanced Python, such as how to explore and analyze data in Python and machine learning algorithm types and applications. Even though I studied Python and Machine Learning algorithms before taking this course, I learned a lot. I could understand the statistics behind the logic and codes better and apply all those points to my own project. The best part is that the instructors are industry experts who are data scientists and machine learning experts in the current industry. It was a great opportunity to learn their precious tips and experiences. Read less

Overall I learned the basics of digital marketing however it was interesting that at the end of the class, 60% of the students dropped out already. I was hoping the class will be more fun like most marketing courses where instructors and students interact more + did more hands-on activities. BrainStation's Data Analytics program was a 10 week program that provided a very beneficial introduction to the world of Data Analytics. The instructors were knowledgeable industry experts. The class serves as a taster to the industry. Students shouldn't expect to be able to switch careers after the 3 month program. The program is very introductory and is excellent for all professions who need to learn Microsoft Excel and grasp the fundamentals of data visualization, interpretation, and presentation.  Read less

As someone who already had a decent understanding of UI design, I was hoping that the BrainStation.io UI Design Course would provide me with a more in-depth understanding of the subject. 

Unfortunately, I felt that the topics covered were rushed, and I would have liked them to go into more detail on each topic. I was disappointed that they didn't touch on the psychological aspect of UI design as much as I had hoped. 

My advice to anyone considering taking this course is to learn the basics elsewhere (other course or even for free on YouTube), and then dive into designing on your own. From my own experience I learned the most when I would work on side projects, just designing random things.

Overall, I felt that the course did not provide enough value for its cost and I also felt like BrainStation is taking advantage of students who think they are getting value out of the course for what they are paying. Read less

I loved the program! The environment was excellent, fast-paced, and well-organized. I loved connecting with my peers and professors. The labs and assignments were really helpful for learning, but my favourite was the in-class demos. I do wish we had some more time to discuss what ideal assignment submissions looked like so that we had a better idea of our target. However, this did leave room for individual creativity. The bootcamp itself was a fun experience, the course's contents are not tough to grasp but can sometimes be overwhelming as to how much you learn in the span of a few days.  The people you're with and the instructors make half the experience, since a good portion of your projects will require collaboration with both your peers in the cohort as well as across the other disciplines (Software Engineering & Data Science).  Read less

Mediocre Review: BrainStation Bootcamp

As someone who recently completed the coding bootcamp at BrainStation, I have mixed feelings about my experience. The program was fun and the instructors were knowledgeable and engaging. I enjoyed the learning process and felt that I gained valuable skills in web development.

However, the TAs (Teaching Assistants) were a disappointment. They were just previous students who lacked the expertise and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively assist us. There were times when I would ask them a question and end up finding the solution myself before they could provide any guidance. This was frustrating and undermined my confidence in their abilities.

Another downside was the lack of connections provided by BrainStation. Despite their promises of networking opportunities, I found that practically zero connections were available. It was disappointing to realize that no one in the industry seemed to care about students who had completed the BrainStation program. It made me question the value of the bootcamp in terms of career prospects.

Furthermore, I was disheartened to learn that none of my fellow graduates, totaling over 40 web development students, had secured legitimate full-time jobs six months after graduation. This raised concerns about the effectiveness of the program in preparing students for real-world employment.
In conclusion, while my experience at BrainStation was enjoyable and the instructors were competent, the quality of the TAs, the lack of industry connections, and the limited success of graduates in finding jobs were disappointing. I would caution others to minimize mention of the BrainStation name and thoroughly research their options before committing to this coding bootcamp. Read less

Although, I have hands on agile experience and am vaguely familiar with product management, I felt this course provided me with the end to end product life cycle knowledge I needed to be successful. The presentations were informative, the instructors were clear and engaging and am very happy I took the time to take this course. I do wish we did more hands on prep for job interviews but I do think I have the materials I need to be successful.  Read less

I have taken two courses at BrainStation so far. One was the UX Design bootcamp, and the other was the Data Analytics certificate.

I enjoyed and learned a lot from the UX Design bootcamp. It covered a wide range of content from research to design to testing. The instructors really cared about the students, and the TAs gave detailed feedback on assignments. The only downside of this program was that it was quite intense and I worked an average of 12 hours per day for the duration of the program so I would recommend anyone considering the bootcamp to commit to it full-time. With that said, the bootcamp gave me many tools to apply to my UX design career. 

The Data Analytics certificate was more of an overview of data analytics topics covering Excel, SQL, and Tableau. While this course was a good introduction to the software, I would recommend a data bootcamp for anyone who hopes to dive into data analytics in detail.

A fantastic boot camp that I thought helped sharpen my skill as a UX Designer. The coursework is a lot so make sure you put extra time outside of school to work on your projects. The instructors are always there so take advantage of their time, they offer great insights on how to improve and tackle problems from a different point of view. I would also recommend asking your classmates for help, they're probably learning about tips and tricks you don't know, they're a great resource. Read less

The project we worked on throughout the course was a great way to exercise some creative muscles and apply what we talked about in class to an idea we were interested in exploring. I had a great time interviewing some potential users and playing with the programs to create my proposed application, and it was a great experience to imagine an idea as if I were bringing it to fruition in a product management role. I took the UX Design course at Brainstation and had a fun time with it! I would definitely say I learned something new and really enjoyed applying our new knowledge to the project. It really brought everything together. Some friendly feedback, I would say that the classes could have had more meet to them. Sometimes I felt like they could have been shorter or we could have combined two classes in one. But that may just be my learning pace. Instructors were kind, knowledgable, and helpful.
