TrueCoders is a full-stack software development Bootcamp that offers an intensive full-time 9-week schedule or a self-paced schedule. The full-time 9-week schedule is a live online course, while the self-paced version allows students the ability to take the course when it is convenient for them. The self-paced schedule is a great option for students who need to retain their full-time jobs but still want a career change. Students of either schedule have the ability to receive unlimited one-on-one support from instructors and career services.
TrueCoders offers 2 different courses: Full-Stack Software Engineering and Full-Stack Web Development. The software engineering course covers C#, .NET Core, the ASP.NET MVC framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, relational databases like SQL, WebKit-based debuggers, and basic working knowledge of networking and file permissions. The web development course covers, Node.JS, Express.JS, React.JS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, relational databases like SQL, hosting web applications using Heroku and GitHub pages, FlexBox design, and Webpack bundling. TrueCoders also specializes in source control and students will receive in-depth instruction on git CLI and GitHub in either class.
TrueCoders aims to provide new coders with the tools needed to find a position in the digital job market including marketable skills, career navigation, and a support community. TrueCoders is meant for career switchers and those with no prior programming experience who wish to enter the tech industry. The application process for both classes begins by scheduling an interview online. A member of their staff will soon follow up with a call.
Before graduation, TrueCoders prepares their students for the job market by improving their resumes, helping them create networking opportunities, and hosting practice interviews. TrueCoders also focuses on communication skills and teaches students how to leverage connections they may have in the tech industry (including fellow students). After graduation, the TrueCoders placement team works with graduates to make introductions, set up interviews, coaching before interviews sending out job applications.

The pros are that you are taught how to code in C# in a down-to-earth manner. There are lessons that take you from ground-zero up to being able to handle databases and APIs. The instructor makes sure that any and all questions are answered, and the environment is such that one-on-one is universally available, so you never have to feel uncomfortable about asking for help. But besides this, there is plenty of material covered for the more advanced students to get practiced in the more i...The pros are that you are taught how to code in C# in a down-to-earth manner. Also the career-prep dedication is top-notch. My job search before attending TrueCoders was frustrating to say the least, in not finding appropriate openings and not getting any replies. But before the end of the course I had already found a prospective position that I was excited about and was in touch with the hiring team.
One more pro is the value and time commitment. This is one of the shorter bootcamps, which I believe to be a better approach than the longer ones. Trust the Process - Fast Paced Class
One thing that I continually reminded myself of throughout the course, was “trust the process”. I perpetually felt out of my depth in the early stages, due to how intense it was and how much information I was trying to fit in my brain in such a short space of time.
As time went on though, things got easier and started to make more sense. This was helped by lead instructor Michael Doyle who was extremely patient, respectful and genuinely wanted to see his students succeed.

There are only a few things I would change.....Better assessment of student's skills prior to the class starting. For instance, students with very little coding knowledge should definately consider the 6 month evening class. Also, I spent countless hours outside of class studying on my own with youtube videos.
At the beginning of the 9 weeks, I never anticipated being in the position I would be at the end of it and completing a final project with people that I genuinely enjoyed working with. I have been to multiple bootcamps to learn programming and I can say with certainty that TrueCoders is my favorite because of the teacher and the learning environment. Micheal Doyle is a great teacher because he is able to explain challenging concepts simply. In addition, Micheal encourages students to collaborate and help others. Worth it, but needs changes
TrueCoders was worth going through. We learned a lot of different and helpful concepts and they were always there to help whether it was job information or one on one time. It was definitely worth doing because my knowledge has expanded, and everyone there cares about you. But there are several things I would change with how they go about this. Also, PLEASE take what I say from the perspective of someone that has a difficult time in school (slow learner), new to coding, and has difficult...TrueCoders was worth going through. It was definitely worth doing because my knowledge has expanded, and everyone there cares about you. But there are several things I would change with how they go about this. Also, PLEASE take what I say from the perspective of someone that has a difficult time in school (slow learner), new to coding, and has difficulty with creativity.
1. The 1 on 1 time (after class) is only 15 minutes, which is difficult to understand a concept you're struggling with in that amount of time. It can rush the teacher and the student and sometimes I felt just as lost coming out of it.
2. After learning one (sometimes two) concepts a day, we would only be given one exercise per concept to put what we learned into practice. I feel there should be more daily exercises from the beginning that would help us learn how to navigate through all the variations that can happen with each concept. We did have weekly challenges after several weeks of class that did this to a degree, but I think having challenges start from the beginning will be more helpful... so that if someone doesn't understand a concept early on, then it can be fixed sooner rather than later.
3. I felt lost on how to come up with new code on my own to practice my skills and concepts that I learned. Often, I felt that the best way I could do this was by finding Youtube videos and spending a lot of time outside of class trying to figure it out on my own. I understand that a lot of learning is trial and error and looking things up for yourself, especially in a 9-week program, but I did pay a lot of money for someone to teach me how to code, and I often felt they would lean on the fact that I can look stuff up for myself and self-teach. Not to say this isn't a good thing for some students, just not for me.
Overall, I would give TrueCoders 3 1/2 stars, because this is a place that does care about you and will do a lot for you if you ask, and you do learn important things to help you with code and job hunting. Why Spend 16K?
I was enrolled set to start another coding bootcamp, and having to withdraw. The setback was a blessing in disguise as I found this bootcamp. Everything was 5-star from the instructors to the director. It is truly ran in excellence and lives up to the TrueCoders name. Even if you have never written a line of code in your life, you can be successful here. All of this for the $3595.
