Nucamp

What led me to enroll in Nucamp was the potential to gain new skills in order to be hired as a programmer. I currently develop Ethereum projects and looking to add to my stack in order to be eventually hired in the blockchain devops field. So far, it was the right decision. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. The content and the exercises helped me become a better Python programmer and I will now be able to use the langauge for testing my smart contracts, as well as use it for other purposes. I believe that this course content is a good base to build your skills from. Read less

It was the best decision for me enroll into Nucamp. It was affordable and the instructor answered our questions on time and in order. I liked working on projects with other people in the group. It was very nice learning new things and immediately applying them. Read less

Even at it's cheap price point, I don't think the Nucamp's curriculum is worth it. The course basically revolves around you watching vids for 6 days of the week and copying whatever the woman is doing in the videos to try to "learn" whatever concepts she's teaching ... and then attempting to prove that you get it by doing "code challenges". The last day is spent on workshops with an actual instructor to go over what we learned. However, I find that it's pretty easy to get lost since 6 days of the week are spent without an actual instructor. It's literally no different than watching Youtube vids or taking a Udemy course to learn on your own and taking some quiz afterwards. It would've been better if we had two live classes. One during the middle of the week and one at the end of the week to make sure everyone is on the same page. And because alot of the instructors have actual jobs, it can take a while for them to get back to you. So you're basically forced to google everything when you're lost or wait until the end of the week to catch up on your questions. On top of that, the curriculum itself is pretty unbalanced. We spend too much time on easy things like Bootstrap and not enough time on challenging things like React, Reactive Native, Redux, Node, etc. I feel like the videos themselves were just too copy and paste-y too (the lady in the vids were constantly telling us to "Copy and paste this here"). I found myself, ironically, taking FREE courses and watching vids on youtube just to understand what was going on since the woman in the videos were explaining things pretty terribly and, often, without context. And I found myself learning more from these free courses and videos than the actual Nucamp course itself. Overall, eventhough the instructors are pretty good, I just don't think it's worth it, even at it's low price point. I feel I learned more from free material online than the bootcamp. And what we actually learned just felt too copy-paste-y and didn't really solidify the concepts. I feel like they suck you in with the low cost but there are other cheap and free resources out there that are better!  Read less

I learned a lot this past month!  Great way to get started in coding and learn the fundamentals.  If you're interested in learning to code, but don't want to fully commit until you know coding is right for you, Nucamp's 4 week HTML, CSS & Javascript introductory bootcamp is a great first step to take in your coding journey. Being absolutely new to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, Nucamp provided me with a valuable foundation of knowledge.  I highly recommend the beginner course if you have no prior experience with web development.  The HTML and CSS portions were quite fun.  Prepare to work, read, and spend considerable effort learning JavaScript.  This portion of the course will test your tech-savvy might.  Overall I am quite pleased with Nucamp and my decision to enroll. Nucamp offered me a safe and supportive environment to know what I don't know, Own it with confidence and build on that, a fresh foundation of new knowledge to start my technical growth.

The format worked really well with my already overloaded schedule.
The instructors and my class mates were dedicated to my success.
The course work showed me how to learn with many facets and styles to choose from.

 I wish they had more student support. They enforce the 20 min rule (if you get stuck ask for help in 20 min) but with the current support structure this is absolutely impossible to provide help in a timely manner. Slack is helpful to dig up old answers to current problems students have. But yet for problems you have and answers not found in slack, assistance is very hard to get and instructors so far are not reachable nor are fill ins willing to help. They refer you back to the instructor which if they do "help" do not provide much of it. I have only taken the bootstrap class.  Read less

I was looking to expand my knowledge in html/css/JS to prepare for the full stack course and this was a great introductory course. I highly recommend this over the bootcamps offered by colleges at astronomical prices as you should, through dedication, achieve the same understanding you would for a fraction of the price. Looking forward to taking the full stack bootcamp and the newly offered python bootcamp. Read less

 I enrolled in the web development fundamentals course because I was having a hard time with the self study route. I soon realized that I needed an instructor and some structure. So glad I took this course. It was very informative. I learned soooo much in such a short amount of time. Like I can't believe how much I actually learned lol. If you're like me and really interested in Web Development, take this bootcamp. It's an affordable price and will help you decide if this is a career you want to pursue before you put in thousands of dollars into some other bootcamp. Also if you are a noob like me expect to study for hours at a time every day. Don't waste your money taking this class if you don't have the time to dedicate to it. You will get lost really quick if you think you can attend the class and not have done the practice exercises and all the stuff that leads up to your projects. All that being said don't forget this is only a month of learning. So this is a very fast paced course. And there is a lot to take in. I would recommend doing other things on the side as well to make sure you are retaining the information.  Read less

I was drawn to NuCamp for budgetary reasons, and they offered me what they said they'd offer: valuable education on my time. 

Beginners that are looking to enter Web Development Fundamentals will find comprehensive explanations and examples given to them by pre-recorded voiceovers and corresponding videos. I encourage taking thorough notes of these sessions to then refer to while participating in exercises utilizing Microsoft's Visual Studio Code on your own computer. These brief, episodic lessons and exercise will then snowball into a weekly workshops that feature nuanced tips from your instructor via Zoom, and a project that tests how well you've mastered that week's core components.

Be prepared to take your research into html, css, and JavaScript into more advanced aspects on your own though; this course is mostly meant to wet your toes, and introduce you to the basic components of building interactive websites. It does, however, integrate you into a frame of mind that better evaluates syntax, computer logic, and creative solutions to natural obstacles; traits that I understand are core to a career in data science. I was utilizing a different coding boot camp prior to Nucamp but there was a lack of support. I can definitely say Nucamp is the total opposite the amount of support I've received has made a huge difference. The weekly workshops in particular are super helpful as well! Read less
