I attended this bootcamp in 2023 and was one of the blessed few to actually receive a job.  Our `outcomes` teacher who is supposed to help you find a job was fired in the middle of one of our `outcomes` classes.  Most of the students I went to school with have been unable to find work in the field.  I hear that this bootcamp used to be a good one before the corporation that now owns it took over and decided to cut corners, restrict campus access, and generally not care about the success of their students.  Please save your $16,500 and learn coding with online tutorials where you actually create code and work on projects.  If you're going to attend a bootcamp you mighterswell spend the extra few thousand dollars to go to Turing School where you'll actually have enough time to learn the important coding principles you need to get a job in the modern world (things like test driven development, CI/CD, etc). I graduated from the Software Engineering Immersive Bootcamp in Nov 2023. It was truly a rewarding experience for me as I managed to learn so much in such a short period of time. The instructional team were also very helpful and knowledgeable in the field and were always willing to answer any questions we had, at any time of day. I attended General Assembly's bootcamp in UX design, and while my instructor was knowledgeable and supportive, I experienced disappointment with their job placement promises. Initially, I was led to believe that the duration of landing a job post-graduation would be as per advertised, which is 6 months. However, the reality was different. It took me 2 months to land an internship and another 7 months to land a full-time job and I would say I am already one of the luckier ones in this case, looking at the job market in tech sector right now.

The disparity between their assurances and the actual job placement process left me feeling misled and dissatisfied with the overall experience in terms of job searching. While I have to say that the quality of the bootcamp is good, GA has to realistic about conveying the job searching experience and show the actual employment rate based on the latest data, before convincing the students to sign on a course. Instructors were experienced and highly proficient.

I took the 12 week, data analytics full time boot camp. Like most folks, I enrolled in this course because I wanted to pivot careers into data. I'll skip to the most important part.  I landed a job as a sales and marketing analyst within a week of the course ending. I also had many interviews with great companies before I got an offer. So for me, it was a resounding success. But there are some BIG caveats people should be aware before enrolling. I believe I found quick success in my job search for two major reasons: 1) I have a bachelor's degree and some real world work experience (even if it wasn't directly related to data). Unfortunately having a degree is a common qualifier and I think folks taking this course in lieu of a  college education will have a much harder time finding employment especially if they haven't worked in an office setting before. Not impossible, but a harder time. 2) I live in a larger city so could apply to jobs that were on-site/hybrid as opposed to fully remote. The only reason this was an advantage is just because fully remote positions are extremely competitive. Again, not impossible to get a remote job but just might take more time. None of this is to say you shouldn't enroll if you don't have a BA and if you don't live in a place with job opportunities, but just know that the job search may take longer and may be a lot more frustrating. As far as the course goes, they teach you the most relevant skills in data analytics that look good on resumes and provide you with projects that you can showcase in a portfolio. I really adored our lead instructor - he was a kind soul who genuinely cared about our success, was an expert in the field, but always reminded us not to take ourselves too seriously. I recently had the privilege of enrolling in the Data Science Immersive Course, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The course was not only comprehensive but also exceptionally well-taught, thanks to our fantastic instructors, Tim and Rowan. The course structure was well-planned, covering a wide range of topics essential to data science. From statistical analysis to machine learning and data visualization, each lesson was thoughtfully designed to build a solid foundation of knowledge. Personally, what set this course apart was the practical approach to learning. Real-world projects and hands-on exercises allowed us to apply theoretical concepts in a meaningful way. The instructor's guidance and constructive feedback played a crucial role in honing our skills and boosting our confidence in tackling data science challenges. Furthermore, the support from the teaching staff and the learning community was outstanding. Collaborative projects and group discussions enriched the overall learning experience, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the students.

For people like me who need a more structured learning environment, General Assembly provides a great way to learn UX. 
I think having community of friends help me stay motivated and engaged. It helps that it provides me with a UX network to go to as well after I graduated from the course.
The instructors and teaching assistant, Andy and Corinne, helped to provide feedback on my work which I appreciated.
My career coach, Tania, also helps to look into my profile at a different light and provides useful insights on the job market, offerings.

Curriculum, although quite well structured, feels quite surface level, however. Until now I still find that I don't know a lot of things about UI best practices and specifics, as well as the different UX research methodologies other than interviews, card sorting, and use cases for those. Would be good if more time can be spent on practicing these technical aspects.

The office hours are limited and for the first weeks very reduced ones.  The instructor does not have a clue of what the student needs to learn to get hired for a software engineering job.  The refund policy is non-existent since they have never returned any money they promised to return for the unused portion of the classes.  The career coach was changed so we never had even one single meeting with the career coach for the first month of the bootcamp.  All material they teach is too basic and not enough to help to find a job. This is a waste.  They lead a person into believing that they can get a corporate job but corporate jobs want employee  with 4 year degrees. Don't ways your money.  You can go to an actual accredited college with your money. If you do pay share once you make a mear $40,000 a year you have to pay $400 a month.  That's a car payment or a nice chunk for housing/living expenses. A graduate is also limited to the program that general assembly teaches so is not versatile. What job assistance? They are sleazy sales people.  I myself am in sales yet I somehow don't leading people to belive lies about the products abd services I sell.  Read less

I attended a UXDI bootcamp in 2021-2022 where the instructors were all recent graduates younger than me. They claimed a 99% hiring rate, which turned out to be false. Now, after more than a year, it's clear that General Assembly (GA) graduates didn't secure jobs as promised. I made the mistake of paying upfront and remained unemployed for the following seven months despite my continuous efforts to apply for positions. Eventually, I did find a job, but it wasn't in UX. This experience was disappointing, and my fellow cohort members shared similar struggles. The only individuals who managed to secure actual jobs were those who already had connections in the tech industry. The job board provided by GA was rarely updated, and they didn't deliver on their promises of support. GA prioritizes quantity over quality.

I started a full-time SEI cohort with GA in April 2023 with a completion date of tomorrow and just want to warn others out there to do a LOT of research before committing 3 months of your time and $15,000 to this organization. 
The marketing of this company really had me believing I would be able to land a decent job as a software developer with no previous experience within a few months of finishing the bootcamp, and as tomorrow is my last day I'm realizing that there is just no way that this will be true. Also, this is obviously an anecdotal review, but for other young women who live alone and support themselves, please very seriously reconsider what you are about to do. I am now in a position where I am indebted to this company and will likely have to pay for another bootcamp or multiple hours and courses on Udemy/Coursera, etc to find gainful employment all while working dead end jobs with no health insurance or benefits in the meantime. Needless to say, I am STRESSED. 
This course has done a mediocre/decent job of teaching me the ins and outs of very basic software development; I'm definitely very familiar with the MERN stack, a Django/Python/NoSQL stack and very very basic JavaScript and version control on GitHub. I also was able to beef up my LinkedIn profile and create a decent resume, but it is nowhere near going to be enough to be competitive or marketable in the current cut-throat job market for junior developers. I know nothing about Oracle, .NET, C+/C##, Java, or a multitude of other technologies I see on every single job posting I've applied to thus far. For a bootcamp that claims to make it's grads "immediately job ready" but when questioned, the instructors turn around and say that you'll just have to put in the time and teach yourself on your own time following the course, the claim of being "job ready" immediately post-course is just plain and simple a big fat lie. 

Additionally, the course curriculum was not well organized, the sometimes live-lecture, sometimes (outdated/obsolete) video lecture format was bizarre and frustrating to deal with; almost every single README beyond unit 2 was broken and the students had to inform the instructors every week (you'd think at some point, someone would realize that they needed to be checked ahead of time if that many are broken). We also had no idea what our daily agenda was going to be until that day arrived-- very frustrating when trying to prioritize and plan when you're trying to complete assignments on time. Aside from the two lead instructors who were knowledgeable regarding the curriculum, most of the IAs didn't have half a clue how to actually solve issues or teach and most of the time I'd have to figure out my own problems using chatGPT, stack overflow and google, but if you tell them you used chatGPT for help, they'll shame you and say not to use it but offer no additional help or support. There were also assignments given that had absolutely no reference code and the instructors eventually ended up dropping them from the deliverable requirements because the students were so overwhelmed and underwater. 

Outcomes support helps with building out a decent resume and LinkedIn profile, but as for actually connecting students to employment opportunities? That falls entirely 100% on the student and in the end becomes a numbers game. Expect to submit anywhere from 500-1000 applications before actually finding a job or getting an interview. 

I would've paid a max of $8,000 for this course. They scammed me, don't let them scam you.

Moreover, the amount of support from the lecturer and career coach is really great, and that took some worries away from me. You pay 17k for mostly videos when you can learn all this free on YouTube. Their job placement data is from 2020 when pandemic lead people to choose unemployment over work therefore allowed anyone to get jobs. They haven’t given certificates that aren’t recognized by jobs a month after graduation. They have dismissive reasons to argue these claims but if you’re smart enough you’ll see it’s actually bull. GA’s DSI has clearly been formulated with the distinct goal of preparing students for day 1 of being a junior data scientist.  It’s intense to the point of averaging 60+ hours a week of lessons and self study. 
The instructors are brilliant, they know their stuff, are able to explain it in different ways and are on hand even outside of teaching hours to offer assistance.  
Their outcomes team know the job market well and will first educate  you about and then support you through the tough challenge of job hunting.   Like the instructors, they are regularly on hand to help you with applications, cover letters, interview prep and even reviewing any contracts you’re offered.  

Between the instructors and outcomes team, I cannot recommend their staff enough

However one of GA’s strengths used to be the reputation and standing they had in the field. Recently they have become far more US centric (to the point of no longer having a London campus and many of the post course support/info sessions being on US time) that their reputation in UK has dwindled and their hiring partners for data science seem to be very inactive.   Considering they charge slightly more than some other boot camp providers and list their reputation as a selling point, this is disappointing to say the least. The most valuable part of this bootcamp are the connections (and friends) you make, the projects you learn to make and be added to your portfolio, and the career coach/career outcomes class. Other than that, the instructors are all extremely nice and helpful and willing to help out with any questions. The classes were fun and engaging, the homework was also fun to do and there are extra countless resources to learn more. Even now that the bootcamp is over, I am still motivated to work hard towards my goals and learn more. Read less
