I have been working in design and branding for the last 20 years and although I had risen to a managerial position, I wanted to update my hands-on skills, especially digitally. After researching the different part-time options, I chose BrainStation as they seemed the best value and enrolled in their on campus UX course. The NY campus, in the heart of Soho, is an absolutely beautiful and inspiring space to learn in. 
The UX course proved to be challenging in a good way and I was very keen to follow it up with the UI course. At that point, Covid had hit and I was WFH but luckily the course easily adapted to being online through Zoom. Because of the global pandemic situation, one of my fellow students found himself stuck in Belgium but he still called into every class at 3am in the morning!
The UI course was a bit easier for me than the UX course as I already knew some of the content around visual language such as typography best practices. However, other content more specific to digital was new to me such as the grid system and responsive design. The course also helped reinforce skills that I had learnt in the UX course such as how to use software like Sketch. 
Our tutor, John Kantor, was a pleasure to learn from as he explained things well whilst also keeping up a good pace. I also enjoyed it when he shared his own professional experiences with us. He made himself available through Slack for if we needed help whilst working on our projects outside of class time. When I reached out with a question, he responded within the hour. He also provided links to additional resources that helped reinforce what we were learning.
With this course, as with most part-time learning, there is not the time to master skills in each class so you need to do that in your own time and it is a case of getting out of it what you put in. Due to being stuck at home, I was able to put in many free hours on my final project and I’m really proud of what I achieved. Read less

This is my second class with Brainstation and I want to take another one. I took the product management class a Really liked that you didn’t need any prior experience to take part in the class. The instructors are available outside of class time which was very helpful. I feel like in 10 weeks and for a lot of useful information about product management and it was definitely worth my time.  Read less

As an aspiring product manager, having a thorough understanding of User Experience was always a goal of mine. When we were put into nation-wide quarantine/lock-down due to COVID-19, I decided to use this opportunity to take an online UX course from BrainStation. Having taken a BrainStation course before (Product Management), I was very familiar with their approach and teaching methodology. The online format utilized Zoom and Slack and delivered the content very similar to the in-class experience. The instructors, Elias and David, were fantastic - they were industry experts who brought valuable real-life experience to the classroom. Overall, they were very knowledgable, approachable, and made the online learning experience fun and interactive. After now completed the 10-week UX program, I am much more confident speaking the UX language, and ready to use my new skills in my career. I completed the Product Management Certificate online at BrainStation in the Spring of 2020. Having already taken the UX Design certificate the year prior, I had a pretty good sense of what to expect. I can say with certainty that the courses and delivery of the courses at BrainStation all maintain the same level of excellence and consistency throughout. The instructors have been highly engaging and wonderful at delivering content in a way that's digestible and easy to follow. The inclusion of a final project is also awesome. I find it's the best way for the material to sink in and for us to have an opportunity to do hands-on work. Social Media Marketing, Part Time, in class. I had a great time here.  About me - I already had experience with FB Ads going into the course, all self taught and from experience.  I run my own business(es).  I was already running FB Ads for my business before starting.  But the stuff you learn here is very useful.  I learned and applied this increasing our ROI on ads.  Significantly.  It's a very practical and straightforward course. Caitlin Hall, my instructor, really knows SMM well and is very effective at teaching it.  I worked with her to improve my marketing strategy, and what she taught me brought real results!

As a young business person just starting up two businesses, I learned new skills that I applied directly to my e-commerce advertising strategy to drastically improve ROAS.  My ad return was already okay coming into the course, but what I learned here made it work much, much better.  So you don't have to be a complete newbie coming into the course.  Actually, having experience allows you delve deeper and ask the more advanced questions, which Caitlin is more than capable of answering and providing insight for.  Expect a practical approach, and not an academic one - they get straight to the practical stuff and don't waste time on rubbish (like memorization of the 4 P's of Marketing).  That's the difference between learning SMM here, and, a university.  Yes, it's an expensive course, but I easily got my ROI from the increase in FB ad revenue.  

Also I enjoyed being with every one of my classmates.  Pretty much all of them were entrepreneurs!  I got to meet some really interesting people.

After graduating University with an Undergrad in Business, I wanted to grow my technical skillset to adapt to the digital world we live in. BrainStation sparked my attention with their state of the art campuses, curriculum and online live learning capabilities.

I have completed their Product Management, Data Analytics, Data Science and Web Development Courses and must say it has has been terrific experience.

This course taught me how to use Sketch to build a working prototype and publish it on the web using Invision. That's the core value you get out of it so don't expect much else. A lot of the classes were focused on design theory which does help to a certain degree, primarily the discussions around fonts.
I don't have anything negative to say about except maybe the steep price, $3500 is a lot for a Sketch course. Read less

I am very glad to have chosen BrainStation as a school to expanded my knowledge and experience in Digital Marketing. I have to confess that in the beginning, I felt a little insecure, which is normal. We never know if we will be able to deliver and meet expectations (from us, and others), especially at difficult times like right now. Through my program at BrainStation, I was able to put all these insecurities aside and focus on my main project, which was to complete a Digital Marketing Strategy for the company I work for. Currently, with all the COVID-19 situation and the requirement for social distancing, it's really hard to keep yourself motivated, especially for a creative mind, and to be open to new learning opportunities. But having Larissa Hildebrandt as my instructor made everything easier! Her support, kindness, and respect throughout the program, her guidance, feedback, and positivity made all the difference. I am really proud to be part of this community and surrounded by such talented people. The ENTIRE staff at Wyncode is an amazing bunch of individuals that will stop at nothing to make sure that you get the help that you need. Doesn't matter if its academic, financial, or emotional. the team at Wyncode always has your back. The instructors Ernie, Leo, and Laz, along with all of the TA's are super passionate and skilled at what they do and it shows in the amount of effort they put forth in their jobs. The experience of going through a coding bootcamp is a grueling one, but if you put your head down and apply yourself then I absolutely believe that it is a worthwhile endeavor that will change your life. I am an industrial designer with over 10 + years of experience and I came into the UX/UI immersive class to increase my value as a designer in the digital realm. I was worried that the content might be a bit too rudimentary after all of my experience, but I was thoroughly challenged throughout the course and learned all of the tools and methodologies to succeed in this field. Not only did I gain a wealth of knowledge, but also friendships with many like minded and talented people as well as a supportive career network. In the past, I've attended University at one of the top rated schools in the country, but I found my Wyncode instructor Gessica was one of the best instructors I've ever had! I have so much respect for her patience and knowledge and ability to always keep class interesting and fun day in and day out! She goes above and beyond all expectations! So if you are considering taking this course, I wouldn't think twice, just do it! You won't regret it! I promise. If I could stay in that class for couple years,  I would!!  Read less

Great experience and I would definitely go back!

This was my first class with BrainStation, after being recommended to look at their course offerings by a friend, and I have to say it was well worth it. I decided on this class, as I already work in Marketing but wanted a different perspective on the industry and this course gave me that plus much more. The course focused on core tenants of Product Management (PM) with our Instructor running us through "stand-ups" per class and diving into various PM theories for how to imagine and refine a product idea. All these lessons gave us the tools to deliver a cohesive product-focused final project. Also, BrainStation does a good job of selecting instructors that can provide relevant field experience to really contextualize the course, and help you explore career options if you so choose. I enjoyed the laid back but intellectual/ thought-provoking learning environment BrainStation and my instructor strived to maintain (even through social distancing), and had a great experience overall.  Read less

I had an interview with the wyncode manager ( Francis  Martinez) about financing for wyncode and she says we have ISA but kept pushing me to finance with climb credit.   By the Way,  the interview wasn't even an interview. There was no technical challenge (which all coding bootcamps i applied to asked for me to do a techinal challenge)  so that was very questionable for me.  After I got accepted to the program (First week of March), every week leading to the curriculum shes asking me about applying to climb credit when I told her ill do the ISA. On April 10th  I put in a lot of applications for climb credit and on the deadline before the curriculum she then tells me there is no ISA option after I didn't get accepted for the credit option.  When I kept saying ill DO THE ISA OPTION. I wasted a lot of time. Also, their curriculum is 9 weeks accelerated which is pretty fast for a new person just getting started with javascript. The pre-work to get started with the Bootcamp isn't the best way to grasp the material before class either. They don't cover data structures and algorithm technical interview questions either. It was literally all over the place. I usually don't do reviews for companies but this Bootcamp was a mess. Please Don't ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. Go to any other Bootcamp that offers ISA and gives a clear responses.  Read less

I took the 10-week Data Analytics course in-person in Vancouver, BC and had a great experience. My instructors, Raymond Kwok and Lauren Bates, were very approachable and provided helpful answers to questions. They also have a passion for data and have relevant industry experience, which was greatly beneficial.
I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to learn or advance their Excel, SQL, and Tableau skills. The course also focuses on general data analytics frameworks and data visualization. There is a lot of useful content that is taught, which would be beneficial for anyone in an analyst role or looking to get into one. Read less

My experience in Brainstation was great. I've gone from not knowing anything about Web Development, to feel pretty confident with my HTML and CSS abilities. My teacher and teacher's assistant had great industry input and classes were clear and concise. Because of that, I've decided to join the full-time Web Development Diploma. Read less

The Data Analytics online course was my second BrainStation course, with the first being on campus in Vancouver. I was impressed with the sheer volume of information covered in the 10-week certificate program. 

Our instructor, Mike Lake, was not only knowledgeable in the topics and tools covered, but he was transparent with the classroom when he didn't know the answer to a query, with the promise to share the solution with us in a future session. As a former homeschooled student, the online learning format is very practical for the way I tend to learn. I know online learning can be daunting for many, but the entire BrainStation team made me feel supported and encouraged throughout the course.

My background in technology happened very much by chance, so I'm always eager to upgrade my current skill set to reflect the most in-demand skills in today's evolving workforce. Data analytics has been on my radar for quite some time and having gone through the course, I can say that I have a broader understanding of its value and the scope of day-to-day decisions that both good and bad data can impact.

One drawback is that, due to the volume of information covered in each classroom session, there isn't much time to go over exercises together "in class", which I find significantly impacts my ability to retain new information by being able to practice is over and over again. Because of this speedy pace, I found that I wasn't able to retain new concepts as well as I have with other learning formats. This wasn't a reflection of the teaching, but rather the sheer volume of course content that needed to be covered.

My only other feedback (with both BrainStation courses I've taken) is that you aren't truly prepared to hit the ground running after just 10 weeks of training. From my experience, students need to spend at least as much time outside of class each week preparing, researching and practicing the tools and techniques taught as they spend in class, if not more. In addition, most graduates will need to hone these newly taught skills every day on their own before being able to take on a full-time role in this industry with confidence.

Otherwise, I am so pleased I took this course...it opened my eyes to the valuable world of data and gave me a backstage view of how good data can change everything in a company....from customer service to marketing to supply chain. Read less

Enrolling in the User Experience Course at BrainStation was one of the best decisions I made in 2019. I was thinking about studying UX for ages and, like many folks, I did extensive research and slowly compiled a list of schools. What sold me on BrainStation was the personal attention I received the moment I walked into the information session. It started then and never stopped!

As a graphic designer and art director, I was already doing some UX, but it was intuitive. I took the class hoping it would formalize my instincts into a structured design process. I also thought it could help me be more effective in my current role as an art director, and help get some side projects off the ground. It did!

The lead instructor, Jenna Brucoli, was superb. We covered tons of material in 10 weeks, and she led us through this marathon with enthusiasm, encouragement, and great humor. Not only did she give us 110% percent during every class, she also met with many of us individually. Her advice and guidance were invaluable. This is a BrainStation strength—your instructors are industry professionals who are committed teachers willing to share their experiences. 

I also learned so much from my fellow students. What a fascinating mix of backgrounds and ages! Even after switching from an in-person format to online (because of the COVID-19 pandemic), the collegiality and camaraderie continued. For me, it confirmed that the digital skills taught at BrainStation are the new universal skills every professional should have in their toolset.
