The Tech Academy
The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus.The Tech Academy offers bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, and front-end development. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. There are also no set starts dates or rigid scheduling. Students can enroll at any time, study from home, and choose whatever study schedule they would like.
The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cover topics including computer science fundamentals, programming basics, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Python, Bootstrap, jQuery, React.js, project management, Agile, Scrum, MVC, version control, Java, and more. Each bootcamp also includes a Live Project, where students gain real-life experience to add to their resume as well as job placement assistance.
None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

A solid program.

By the time I was done, I had an unrelenting impulse to learn more and more and more. It's honestly addicting, and a very profitable habit at that. The instructors are excellent, the course is incredibly thorough, and everyone is happy to help.
The curriculum is structured to both teach a base understanding of core languages, and to encourage students to pursue apt facility in a realm of particular interest. The process works for folks of all technical backgrounds; I learned many things that I thought I already understood and countless things that I was not aware existed. I could feel my brain rerouting to make new connections.
I encourage everyone to look into the Tech Academy. It's an amazing bang for your buck.

I cannot say enough about how much I've enjoyed my experience with The Tech Academy. I am a college senior and I have been working through The Tech Academy's software development bootcamp over the past few months. The course gives you a wealth of programming knowledge ranging from computer fundamentals to programming languages like C# and Python. The course is structured in a way that really builds upon itself. You often see prior course topics and languages reappear in later courses. In addition, the live project portion at the end of the course provided me with one of the most beneficial experiences I have ever had in my learning career. The remote instructors are always available to help guide you through coming up with a solution whenever you get stuck during the course. I recently received a job offer from Epic Systems in Madison, WI and I have absolutely no doubt that the skills I gained from The Tech Academy played a large role in me obtaining the position.

Also, your fellow students are all working towards the same goal (at their own pace) which put me in a positive mindset preparing me to reenter the workforce.

Great Coding Bootcamp
Overall I'm satisfied with the knowledge and experience I gained from The Tech Academy. They started from the basics on computers as it relates to computer programming, to working on your project and finally working on a live project collaborating with others! A good bad thing
This Bootcamp changed my life. It was a good thing and a bad thing. Up front I was excited and couldn't wait to get the curriculum completed so that I could become a developer of the internet. This Bootcamp changed my life. It was a good thing and a bad thing. Up front I was excited and couldn't wait to get the curriculum completed so that I could become a developer of the internet. I was exstatic when finished and hit the ground with a legs churning to find a job, problem was, no company really liked what they were seeing. My resume was on point, I had a killer cover letter for each job applied, and I was energetic and upbeat when I was around tech peaople and at meet ups; but, no interviews, in phone calls, nothing!! I had hit a wall and was starting to doubt myself and my skills and depression wasn't long behind that. I quit my job because I had no time to go to meet ups or even go to an interview if someone happened to call me. I moved back to California because I couldn't support my life away from family without a paying job, and depression grew. I was at a real low, I had just been to 3 funerals in 4 weeks and was about to start looking into going back to an industry I hated when I got a phone call from a company wanting to interview me for their Application Developer position. I couldn't believe the phone call and the good news just kept rolling because a day after that one another came my way. I couldn't believe what was happening and before I knew it, I had accepted a position and am now in the field I have been fighting to get into for almost a year now. The Tech Academy gave me all the tools I needed to find success, It's not their fault I didn't have time, or didn't listen, or couldn't commit. Aaron was the best friend anyone could have asked for in the Job Development department. Other then that I guess one thing I wasn't expecting was all of the courses that were used from other learning websites. It was a bit disconcerting at the time but they were helpful and had a lot of information to teach. Thank you Tech Academy for changing my life.

I haven't encountered any other software bootcamps that offer so comprehensive an education for such an affordable tuition.
Fair warning, though: the "Job Placement Course" basically amounts to "You don't get your certificate of completion until you send out 35 resumes or get hired, whichever comes first." This is not a program for people who think that getting a piece of paper is going to legitimize their job-seeking in software development; it's for those looking for a great start to a learning process that will last you your entire career.

First off, I want to state how willing and helpful The Tech Academy is. When first signing up with the program, I told them I would be onsite. Two days before my start date however I had to move back to California. With no complaints, they happily put me onto the remote program, and sent a computer to me which arrived to California before I did.
During the program, I was given plentiful information and real world practices to learn coding. They say the best way to learn, is to fail. And The Tech Academy will have you create business grade software entirely on your own, urging you to figure out issues and problems, just like you would in the real world. Doing so, I truly started to feel more and more confident in my coding abilities, knowing I could create software from the ground up, while being able to solve any issue that comes my way. This isn't to say that you have no help available. There are times, where help is definitely needed. and The Tech Academy had no shortage of help available. They spent 3 hours once helping me figure out an issue my computer was having, and another time staying an hour after the school closed to help me finish my program.
Lastly, the job support did everything in their power to help you. I was living in a trailer in a small town, getting virtually no leads due to my location. The Tech Academy offered me to fly out to Portland to do a on site internship, where I gained the necessary experience and location to ultimately land a job in the industry.

I enrolled at the Tech Academy after making a decision to transition from a prior professional career as a lawyer, and so I came into this program with years of experience in office and other project-based work settings.
General Structure: The Tech Academy's self-paced program structure appealed to me as someone who can work independently without constant supervision. It's not perfect for everyone. The instruction and coursework is primarily through video and web lessons, rather than in-person lectures/classes. There is live, in-person assistance available if you get stuck on a particular lesson and project, but you have to be okay with seeking it out, as opposed to just expecting that someone will help you, which is really a great lesson for new developers to learn. There is also an honest and sincere effort by the administrators and job placement coordinators to help prepare students for real-world interviews and technical/soft-skills questions, which I see as valuable to students who haven't had those resources before (I used to also do career counseling and mentoring for professionals, so I see the value of those resources).
Coursework: What also appealed to me over other coding bootcamps I researched was that it emphasized a broader, full-stack engineer curriculum. I had the opportunity to learn coding from front-end and back-end perspectives, and I liked how there was a strong focus on using Microsoft technologies, languages, and frameworks, to build a cohesive understanding of a particular stack. We learned C#, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL, through practical projects. We also have a two-week (or more) "live project" where you get development experience working with real-world clients and projects through Prosper IT, which TA was created from.
Pre-TA Experience: Prior to TA, I had on-and-off experience learning basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript, C++, and certain math/science related languages from my STEM background before law. However, you don't need that background in order to succeed because the program assumes that you have little to no prior experience with coding. Because it was self-paced, I could quickly move through refresher material and spend more time on other languages, like C#. It's paced for most students to complete in 15-20 weeks, but you can take up to 30 weeks to complete the program.
Overall Experience: Overall, I had a positive experience with TA. The transition for me felt comfortable because of my prior science/tech experience and the fact that I really wanted to make this leap after having invested in a prior career that did not resonate with me as much. I was very motivated to find a job in the Portland area, and was able to interview successfully for a position with a local company that I really wanted to work for after about 2+ months from finishing my work. I'd highly recommend this program for people who may have worked in another industry and had some real-life work experience who know they want to make this leap.

I am 50+ years old and after 20+ years working in engineering fields in the semiconductor industry, I had a gap in employment and decided to retrain myself and learn the latest software development technologies.
After lots of research I chose TTA for their outstanding remote program which included hot programming courses like JavaScript, SQL, Python, C#, ASP.NET, etc. While searching for a boot camp school last year I didn't see many that offered a solid C#, ASP.NET, SQL heavy curriculum. I'm glad I chose TTA because the job I landed needed those skills. Honest Feedback: - TTA is not very expensive compared to other programs when I was researching. I feel I got a great bargain.
- TTA admissions: They “know” they are offering you a real “bargain” for an excellent Software Development Boot Camp. You just don’t know it yet.
- The school is legit. It is not a fake. It has a brick and mortar building for their local students.
- The remote study program is “solid,” very easy to follow, and you really do learn. I can’t imagine it being any better.
- TTA has a great start with "Computer Basics" which eases you into the program. I really loved how they start you out with a solid foundation.
- The course does increase in challenge as you go; however, it’s well-balanced and builds on prior learning. For example, after finishing a challenging project for a course,
you get a breather with the new course giving normal training for a while until the next project or drill.
- It's a fun program with an enjoyable positive environment even for me as a remote student.
- They have lots of communication such as a daily newsletter, etc.
- You do learn what they teach if you commit to study and drill.
- The founders of the school & instructors are really smart and have a great attitude for sharing their knowledge.
- I have never submitted buggy code, or asked a question that I was not able to get a correct answer from an instructor.
- You will learn how to create some professional looking websites and learn to make them public and accessible by securing domains and server access.
- Finishing a project or drill really makes you feel proud and increases your confidence.
- They teach you how to leverage the internet for learning. This is a big advantage.
- Learning and using GitHub/Version Control really makes you feel like a pro. Keep all your projects in GitHub organized and they will be portfolio ready.
- The study platform (learning management system) is web based, easy to follow and it keeps track of your progress.
- Many of the projects are challenging; however, you really do get all the skills for a particular project, you just need to apply them.
Instructors are really helpful if you get stuck.
- SQL: You will learn SQL & databases. Study SQL hard, as you will continue to use SQL for databases in the more advanced courses and potential jobs.
- TTA offers C# & ASP.NET training. Hint: Budget extra days or study hours for this course because it is really good and gets challenging.
- You will learn how to create websites with databases and web applications coding in C# using Visual Studio, .NET, MVC, TFS.
- Live Project: At the completion of all your coursework you get to join a team of students on a large coding project using a team based setup, revision control, etc.
- The Live Project is the best part of the course as you get to use all your skills, it is really a very satisfying end to the boot camp.
- You will learn professional software development methods like AGILE, SCRUMM, etc. and use them in the Live Project.
- You have to submit a daily report for each day you study for any amount of time. They will send you a friendly reminder if you stop regular communication.
- You have to write lots of essays but they are fun to do and you really learn a lot.
- TTA also wants you to fill out a weekly report that is mostly feedback on the school so they can improve.
- They really like feedback and will love it if you suggest an improvement.
- I did not finish in 15 weeks. I took 30 weeks of self paced management.
