There is total flexibility during the week on when you learn the material, and the required Saturday sessions keep you on track by having a deadline, which is why I chose Nucamp over other online go-at-your-own-pace courses. As someone with no prior coding experience, the 4 week Web Development course was appropriately challenging but very doable. Each lesson has video instructions and demonstration, downloadable slides, and links to many outside references for each topic. The instructors are very helpful and responsive as well.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job supportN/AInstructors5.0 -

The ability to just pay for and take the first intraductory class was also a big factor - that allowed me to see what they had to offer without making a big commitment of either time or money.
I'm pretty amazed at what I was able to learn in just the four week introductory class. The way each week of the course is structured really breaks down a very good foundation, and also keeps you motivated to move forward and continue learning. Another thing I liked about the way it was structured is that you had video lessons presented by one person, and then a bit of a review at the end of the week in your sessions wityh your individual instructor. This allowed you to see the material presented from two different perspectives, which helped to clear up any areas you were having trouble understanding.
After 4 weeks, do I feel as though I have an understanding of HTML, CSS, and Java Script? No, not at all, but what I've gained from the class ios a strong enough foundation to become proficient - even good - at all of them though more self practice and self learning. It would've taken me many months to learn on my own through free internet resources, what I've learned in just 4 weeks through NuCamp. What was taught was just the basics of each of the three languages, so there's still lots for me to go and learn, but because of the way the course was structured - with everything taught being a foundation for the next thing - it gave me all the basics I need to be able to understand the rest with self study.
From the time I began looking into coding bootcamps to the day I started this course was about 9 months; if I could start over, knowing what iIknow now about NuCamp, not only would I take this introductory course again, but i would've taken it as soon as I started looking into bootcamps. The price of this course compared to what i was able to learn is amazing! If they charged twice as much, it would still be worht the knowledge it's provided. I should say also, that the support system that comes with NuCamp, is amazing (and I've only just begun to scratch the surface of that support system)!!! I'm looking forward to my next step with NuCamp, and would even be thrilled if they had more offerings to take - the way the curriculum is set up seems to work very, very well. I would absolutely reccommend their introductory course to anyone setting out to learn coding, and even to anyone that just wants to find out if coding is something they're really interested in; for the price, it would even be worth it if you took the course and decided it wasn't for you.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job supportN/AInstructors5.0 -

I specifically did the online bootcamp, (mainly to take advantage of my home office ,) and the experience was so much better than i expected.
The weekly expectations are filled with challenges and learning exercises. Just enough to keep you engaged but not enough to be overwhelming.
The projects keep you personally involved with the ability to use your creativity to make it your own.
The weekly workshops are very informative and hands on. You work on a workshop assignment together and can share your screen if youre stuck to troubleshoot.
Overall i enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next part of this bootcamp.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job supportN/AInstructors4.0 -

I am VERY satisfied with my experience with the Bootstrap course. Our instructor Ariel was attentive, personable, knowledgeable, and approachable. She takes great pride in answering all of your questions in detail, doesn't make you feel bad for not knowing the answer to something, and clearly is a great instructor. It was great to work alongside fellow classmates and make connections with folks who are dealing with the same challenges, and are at the same stage in their career transition. I've only just finished week 5 of 22, but as someone who skeptically spent money on this course, questioning what kind of value I would get out of it, I am so far SUPER impressed. I'd recommend Nucamp to anyone interested in programming who either wants to get their feet wet, or is seriously considering a career change with little-to-no programming experience. As long as you take the material seriously, ask questions, and use google a lot, you will get a lot of value out of this course. If you are the kind of person who needs a LOT of hand-holding, I would either recommend taking a Udemy course or using another set of inexpensive courses in addition to this material, or do some self-learning before deciding if you want to spend the money on a bootcamp. If you decide to spend money on a bootcamp, choose Nucamp.
----Loving Suggestions/Things I would change----
There are already tons of free and inexpensive resources online for individuals to learn how to program. Nucamp's real value potential comes from a community of students/fellow learners, mentorship from instructors, and interaction with people who are familiar with the material. My loving critique is that I think Nucamp can better leverage this potential.
- Currently, students are given a set of online lectures & exercises, then given a 4 hour window of time once per week (Saturdays) with the instructor. Our instructor Ariel was FANTASTIC, and answered any questions that I asked over slack within one day. I would never impose or want to ask for unpaid time from our instructor - but I think offering of 30-60 minute 1 on 1 sessions with students during the week would go a LONG way in creating a WOW experience for your students/customers. If that was available to me, I would feel even more delighted and more likely to recommend Nucamp than I already am.
- Peer mentorship/coding buddies? It would be REALLY nice to have been paired or connected with someone in the Slack channel who has undergone the classes I was taking. It's a great networking tool, and would give even more value to the Slack community.
Overall, great value for the money. ESPECIALLY considering what other bootcamps are going for.

I already had some background in HTML and CSS going into the course, but had had several years since I had last used the concepts. The course gave me a very helpful refresher course on those two building blocks as well as introducing me to JavaScript in a way that was easy to digest. The ability to reach out to the instructor 1on1 at any point throughout the course via Slack was super helpful as was the availability of my classmates to bounce ideas off of. Perhaps the most invaluable part of this course was the flexibility. As a graveyard shift worker, being able to not only keep my job while completing a boot camp but completing it on my schedule was crucial. The 9 am workshops were a bit difficult on Saturdays for my schedule, so I would recommend that for future boot camps NuCamp offer an afternoon workshop option, but other than that I have no complaints. I look forward to continuing my coding journey with NuCamp in the Full Stack bootcamp!Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job supportN/AInstructors4.0 -

The added Saturday workshops were very helpful in working in an actual class format with a live instructor to answer questions and provide guidance. The other students attending were also friendly and helpful to classmates that needed help. There are always improvements that can be made and this bootcamp isn't always perfect, but it delivered on what it promised from basic setup and HTML/CSS to more complex interactive JavaScript assignments that challenge me each week. The instructor was new to the roster but did have a strong grasp of the content being delivered in the live workshop. Don't be mistaken that this class is just a breeze every week, as it required some discipline to complete the weekly coding activities and materials (video/readings/challenge questions). It will take anywhere from 5-10 hrs a week at least to get through all of the weekday activities before the Saturday live workshop (which is another 4-6 hours depending on how long it takes get the assignment done). And finally, the class was reasonably priced compared to other bootcamps offered in the area. It was a good value and the content was very good nonetheless. I'm wrapped up as of today with Week 4 for the HTML, CSS, JavaScript Fundamentals class and will be moving on to the full stack course with confidence that I understand the basics enough to keep going.
