Nucamp

As a housewife for 5 years, I don't want be left behind, and my previous job (social media copywriter)is sort of related to web development, I used to create contents, it will be really cool if I can build a website by doing both!
Nucamp course covers most important full stack technology, and it is easy for beginners to merge into programming habits. The same time, coding always needs to keep learning by yourself, so I also spend a lot of time to explore more besides what the courses will teach.
All in all, it is great decision that I choose nucamp and put my feet into coding water, and I still like coding. Read less

I was very hesitant to start a Bootcamp, particularly with a company I've never really heard of before.  However, I am EXTREMELY satisfied I went with Nucamp.  The course is very well laid out, the instructor is very knowledgeable and calm, which I believe are skills needed in a fundamentals course.
Upon starting, I knew the layout of the course would be easy to follow, as in I wouldn't get lost navigating the site.  The dashboard is clearly laid out where you are, versus where you're going, and having a task list for each week and checking them off felt very refreshing.  The content is quick, which gets you to coding that much faster.  As in, you start coding within the first few videos.  Again, very refreshing to put your hands right in and show what you just learned.
Coming from very basic knowledge of syntax and coding in general, to go from where I started, to where I am now, it is night and day.  The retention I have is absurd.  I would recommend Nucamp to anyone, either complete beginner (like me) to a junior developer. Read less

I am a career changer who has always had a interest in a tech career. What led me to enroll in Nucamp after doing extensive research was the affordability and flexibility of the bootcamp. I am employed fulltime and have a young family. So time, flexibility, and affordability were important for me. The instructors are very helpful and so is the online community. The introductory HTML, CSS and JavaScript course was fun, engaging,and well worth the money. Even though the exercises were mildly challenging at times, the way the assignments were structured really helped facilliate independent thinking and experimenting.

I was originally looking to use this course as a refresher before moving into a larger, more well-known, more expensive bootcamp, but the way this course structure was fantastic and my instructor was exceedingly helpful. I will definitely be considering NuCamp courses in the future!

I just completed the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Fundamentals course, which lasted 4 weeks. I would only recommend this course if you're just wanting to test whether this learning method is practical for you before financially commiting to the Front End/ Full Stack course. They just barely touch on the covered topics. They provide links to MDN and W3 Schools for supplemental reading on every topic. For HTML and CSS they didn't teach me anything I didn't learn from Free Code Camp, and didn't cover it as well. In the last week, there was less material and there were far fewer coding challenges, replaced for code alongs where you download a file and then do exactly what the instructor in the video is doing. For JavaScript I spent a lot of time on other websites to supplement the learning material in order to give myself an understanding, and was still told I should spend 3-4 weeks continuing to expand my knowledge on JavaScript in order to be successful in the longer courses. I was already planning on that, but to be told that you still aren't ready for the full courses after you take the fundamentals course they recommend so that you DO have the required knowledge for those courses is not a good feeling.

As far as the experience, I enjoyed it. I liked that they provided links on every lesson for further reading. I liked that they had copepens for us to work on. It was nice having my instructor and classmates when I needed assistance, and that was always what kept me from advancing in the more self-guided courses. I liked that I didn't have to entirely quit my job for this, because that isn't realistic for most people. I liked having the workshops on the weekends with my classmates and instructor present. Overall, I enjoyed the learning experience and felt this was a good learning format for me so I signed up for one of the full courses.

If you're wanting to see if the way NuCamp does things is right for you before financially commiting to one of the longer courses, go ahead. If you have tried free or cheap self-guided intro courses and gotten stuck and would benefit from having an instructor and classmates to reach out to, sign up. If you can muddle through FreeCodeCamp or Udemy to get your basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JS then I would do that, skip the fundamentals course, and just sign up for the longer course. I enrolled into nucamp because I wanted a new career path. I took the intro course and learned significantly. I think its a good choice for anyone who is interested in learning code. It teaches the basics and gets your feet wet to later lead into other courses or languages.   Read less

I enrolled in Nucamp to get an refresher on html, css, and javascript. I came into the course knowing quite a bit about html, and css. With very limited experience to Javascript. So far It has been a decent refresher on the first two. If I had come into Nucamp not knowing anything about html, css, or javascript I would be completely overwhelmed and still unsure how to use any of it. Read less

 I wanted to make a career change. I had dabbled in coding throughout my teenage years, but never thought I had what it took to be a programmer. However, after seeing how this career fit my personality, strengths, and goals for my life, Nucamp presented an opportunity to make that shift. I was being taught the most prevalent technologies of today that make me job ready. The instructors were keen to help and pass on their knowledge, both technical and career. Nucamp was also what I could afford at the time, and I was even able to afford upgrading to the Fullstack course. I would recommend was people looking to transition to tech jobs.  Read less

What led to Nucamp was the advice of a friend who explained to me the way the course is setting up at Nucamp. Learning based on video teaching was the click that attracted me. In addition, I loved the workshop setting that brings students and instructors together where instructors go over what we learned during the week. Nucamp has been a great experience so far. I just finished my Web Development Fundamentals course and am excited to move on to the Full Stack Bootcamp. My instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. My classmates were nothing short of amazing and I learned a great deal. I have wanted to get into web development for a couple of years. I went the "self-taught" route, but ended up putting it on hold. Nucamp gives me the structure I need to move forward and make the gradual process I need to push me towards my ULTIMATE goal. Being a full stack web developer.
