This time last year I was working in the service industry and desired a career change, and then I discovered Ironhack in Miami, FL and decided to make the commitment to complete the Web Development bootcamp. My instructors, Sandra and Marcos, and my TA Stephen were amazing. Even though the course is part time, they were always available after hours to answer any questions. I was weary about taking a bootcamp class online due to COVID-19, but my instructors and the career coach, Brito, really made up for us not being able to see each other in person. Brito organized virtual meetups for developers and designers almost weekly which featured guest speakers from individuals in the tech industry in Miami and successful Ironhack alums. After graduating, Brito provided tools to help form my resume and showed me and the rest of my cohort tips to successfully land a job as a bootcamp grad. 3 months after graduating I landed a position as a full time developer in Miami, FL. Ironhack has completely changed my life and I am so grateful to all of the amazing people working there who helped make this happen.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

Looking for a new career outside of my field, which was Journalism, I considered some Master's program in Design. However, the more research I was doing, the more I was impressed by the results of Ironhack in just 3 months of intense work. Since I didn't want to waste time, I jumped into it.
Then the pandemic came and we had to start the Bootcamp online. The teachers were super honest with us that the year will be tough and there will be more than just a few weeks of lockdown.
I didn't really feel like I was missing anything from the "live" camp. My motivation was still super high, I was still working till midnight every day. During those two months, I didn't have a second of doubt that I am wasting my time. The opposite, I could see my every next step. The support you get is a big and important part of the experience.
In this direction, the career week was very practical too - we were told how to prepare for the tech interviews that are quite different than other interviews.
Four months after my graduation, I was still receiving support from the career center for finding a job. And it happened. I went to an interview with a job recommended by the career coach from Ironhack. The company already worked with 5 people from the Bootcamp and they were looking for more people from there. The interview was smooth and cool though it was like my first big interview in the design field. And it is again due to the preparation I had.
Basically, I recommend Ironhack's UX/UI Bootcamp with both hands. I am still fascinated by the number of steps I overtook thanks to all the great support from there.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

I was extremely impressed when I came into this program with just very limited knowledge of the programming language and ended up with learned tones of new technologies today's companies are using. Instructors and TAs were very forthcoming in their knowledge and extremely friendly also energetic helpful. Career support was also engaged to help with those who had graduated with their professional knowledge and skills. To be honest, this program definitely exceeded my expectations, I was glad I made this life change decision.

This entire week was a brilliant introduction to the world and community of UX, and I knew from meeting the full-time UX teacher, Ironhack alumni, and current students, that this was a course that would change my life.
I wasn't wrong! The course gave me an incredibly in-depth education into human-centered design thinking, and I was able to work on a number of projects (both solo and in teams) that I was then able to showcase on my portfolio. Working in short sprints means you get to grips with the tools and processes very quickly, and it was great to have the support of the teaching staff whenever needed. We were able to work with real-life clients, which meant our designs and recommendations made a real difference.
The team also helped us in developing our portfolios (advising which platforms to use, how to make them stand out and look amazing), but there was no hand-holding during the course. You are shown the tools and techniques and the value that they can bring to projects, and it's up to you to assess which ones are going to be the most useful for each project. This really helps you learn and develop as a Designer!
Yes, it was hard work. But you get out what you put into it. The South Florida design community is an incredible hub of knowledge, sharing, collaboration, and support, and I'm so grateful to have been introduced to so many wonderful people that have been so welcoming and willing to help me on my journey.
The course was meant to be in-person, but the team did an excellent job of bringing everything online and managing the whole process so we still got the most out of the curriculum, resources, and teaching.
If you're ready to be challenged, learn a lot, get your hands dirty, and be surrounded by great people, Ironhack is the school for you!Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

It is incredibly more effective and substantially better than any other approach I tried before (books, youtube self-learning, online courses, university programs, etc) to learn web development. One key factor is the amazing team of teachers that provide you with live assistance on the spot, right away.
My only pain point has so far been: the learning materials on the student platform (the ones we use to do the lab exercises) have quite a few grammar and spelling mistakes, most probably because they were not written by a native English speaker. Nothing major that will stop you from understanding, is just a tad annoying.
It is important for anyone interested in this or any other bootcamp to understand that doing the course is just the tip of a huge iceberg and is in no way a magic wand that will make you an amazing developer right after graduation, but it nevertheless takes you such a long long way, which is otherwise almost impossible to achieve in such a short time and in such an effective way.
For anyone willing to really learn (once and for all) something so abstract and complex as Full Stack Web Development, especially if you have tried and failed before, this program is 100% worth it. From there you can continue the perhaps infinite loop process of becoming a better developer.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

The staff was amazing and I learned far more than I thought I would going into the program. I was a little nervous about my lack of experience as I had absolutely no coding background (I had never written one line of code prior to the course pre-work). I did not feel like I was left behind at all. My teacher and TA's were super helpful and really made sure everyone understood the course material. That said, you really have to do your part. If you put in the time to really understand the logic behind the code, you will be surprised how much you can learn in such a short time. I would recommend Ironhack to anyone looking to learn how to code.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

The curriculum is so eloquently designed that the people with no prior programming knowledge can become a full-stack web developer in 9 weeks.
Ironhack has some of the most talented and experienced teachers and very knowledgable TAs. They answered each question no matter how trivial they were. I am so grateful for our lead teacher and the TAs for their support, who were willing to work extra hours to guide us on every step and explain the difficult topics. Also, I respect their patience while working with our projects and whenever we were stuck in some nasty bug.
Ironhack has the most thoughtful curriculum, with plenty of exercises and assignments. We were also introduced to pair programming which helped us to collaborate with others and become familiar with version control. Even though the Bootcamp can be really rigorous and challenging, the teacher and the TAs always found a way to make it interesting.
Ironhack, in general, is a really supportive community. After we are done with the Bootcamp, they also teach us how to tackle an interview and provide all the resources needed to land a job. They also organize hiring fairs where companies participate to hire graduates. In addition to that, they also organize programs where external professionals come to give a talk about certain topics. They are also generous to give scholarships to the students. In my case, they were generous enough to provide me with the full scholarship and all the other expenses. Hence, I am eternally grateful to Ironhack.
Having said that it is indeed very intensive and challenging Bootcamp but the end result and how much you have learned will be well worth it.Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0 -

I've worked in product design for about 8 years now, and it became more and more apparent how important it is to be technically adept to better collaborate with our engineers. I also wanted to have the freedom and competency to build my own ideas into tangible products! In these 9 weeks, we learned an up-to-date tech stack that enabled me to build my own products immediately and independently after graduation. I've tried learning coding via online courses such as Coursera, Udemy and Codecademy, but it really doesn't come close to an in-person, immersive course. The atmosphere at Ironhack also added to the experience - we had a super smart, patient and very well-structured teacher and our classmates were always so supportive of one another. All in all, a great experience and worth every penny.Overall5.0Curriculum4.0Job supportN/AInstructors5.0 -

At first I was doubting if a bootcamp would be a good thing to do. In the end, I pulled the trigger. Finished yesterday, met great people and learned a lot. I'd highly recommend this programme and here is why:
Pro's:
- The programme is varied. We had 3 UX projects, 3 UI, 1 coding and 1 final project. Sometimes you would be in groups of 4, 3 or 2 and also just by yourself.
- Because of the small group nature of the programme, you get to know everyone and work with almost anyone.
- Our teacher and teaching staff were knowledgeable, caring but also challenging and demanding. You will get feedback. But this will help you grow. And it's always constructive feedback.
- The programme manager and other administrative staff. They were constantly improving the campus. I.e. with new furniture, branding, ping pong table and so much more.
- External speakers and UI workshop were a big thing.
Cons:
- In the beginning their were certain things that did not go well. Small things for instance the online material was a bit different from the class material. Or some supplies were not always restocked. However, we had a retrospective after each project. The teacher would use our feedback and make sure those things and more were improved.
- Corona virus. Our final project had to take place online. Naturally, the school had to be closed and this was out of their hands. The online environment were good and quickly developed. We gave our final presentation online and could not thank the teaching staf in person or receive our certificate.

I did not have any coding experience and now I can write code to do stuff that I would have never imagined before and I now found my first job in data analytics.
The Bootcamp is composed by one pre-work module and three course modules. Each course module was 3 weeks long with daily classes and hands-on exercises. I have progressively developed knowledge and skills in Python and MySQL programming, applied statistics, data analysis and engineering. I quickly built increasingly complex data applications to collect, transform, analyse and gain insights from different real-world data sources, ultimately applying basics of machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
I recommend the Bootcamp to anyone who is seriously dedicated to commit 3 months of his/her time to learn a new set of skills. It is going to be a demanding, challenging, but incredibly rewarding journey, both in terms of hard and soft skills: the more effort you will put in, the more you will get out of it... guaranteed!
I strongly advise you to build some foundations in math and statistics especially, because this is not only about coding, but also also about numbers and logic, a lot! If you are not willing to deal with them, maybe consider a web-dev path.
Also, keep in mind that this is going to be just a first step, for as much solid as it can be. Thus, be prepared to keep investing time in learning, it is never going to stop!
As last, I have to mention that Ironhack Lisbon team is truly amazing and wll always have your back at any time. Finding your first job aftwewards is going to be up to you, but they will support you as much as they can, sharing tips, connections and opportunities (mainly with Portuguese companies).
Put in hard work and trust the process!Overall4.0Curriculum4.0Job support4.0Instructors4.0 -
