The 1:1 mentorship sold me as I always wanted to be guided by someone who had the experience and could enable me to grow. I learned so much from my mentor from concepts in the real world, to how to improve my designs. I loved that the UI UX design track was an intensive 9 month course that would enable me to come out of a boot camp with four projects to showcase on my portfolio. I didn't have a portfolio or any background in design prior to this so this was quite important to me. I am proud of what I created and showing in my portfolio and its all thanks to Springboard. I'd want to give a shout out to the Springboard advisors and other Springboard employees because they make an effort to do what's best for you. They are very understanding if problems arise and will try their best for you.
The bad parts? I initially expected the Industry Design Project to be a project I'd never forget. I knew the companies we would be working for were startups, but I forgot to think about their financial states. When you create a design solution for a company, it is up to them if they would like to implement it. And since they are a start up, most of the time they do not have the financial budget to implement your designs. Sad truth. Please see below some points why I really love this program:
- The curriculum has a good structure and It covers the main topics for data analytics (Financial Analysis, Economics, Statistics, Career Coaching) and such important analytical tools as SQL, Python, Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Springboard's mentors are very professional and supportive.
- You will never feel alone with the useful Slack channel and weekly meetings.
- Communication with the student advisers and the Springboard support team was good and very helpful as well.
- The program is flexible, and it is possible to balance effectively between your current job and the course.
- You can take 3 weeks break if you need to pause the program.
- The price is much lower than the prices of other bootcamps.
- You can get a discount if you refer your friends (as I did!).
- At the end of the program, you will have two capstones projects and you will be able to tell your “story” and be prepared well for the real interview.

Transitioning into a new industry of UI/UX Design, this program had a great set up for beginners such as me. I didn't know I could learn so fast using programs I have never used before. The curriculum provided a lot of knowledge and helped me grow new skills that I am confidently able to use at my new job. This bootcamp is self-paced which is very helpful if you are working full time. I was paired with an awesome mentor that not only gave awesome feedback/advice but also a great person to chat with. Even though the tuition is a bit high, but don't let that stop you from applying. If you are able to then definitely go for springboard. Since I was a full-time student, I was able to complete the course in 7 months using the monthly payment selection. You also have a opportunity to complete a real-world internship with a company, which is pretty cool if you have no design experience.
Cons:
The job guarantee is only for student with bachelor degrees. So if you have that degree then they will focus on you more to get a job faster. Unfortunately I was not part of that group. something to consider.

It sounds like you may have been paired with a mentor who fell short of these expectations, and we are truly sorry for how this affected your learning experience.
We take student-mentor relationships very seriously, and any time a student feels they are not getting the support they need from their mentor, student advisors are available to jump in and help. In these cases, we always do our best to mend the relationship, and when that is not possible, we can rematch students with a different mentor who is a better fit to support them. If we had not made it clear to you that you have that advising support, that's on us.
In addition to mentorship, students have a number of supplemental resources to help with course material and provide feedback on exercises: there are course TA's available on live chat through the Springboard platform, weekly office hours hosted by mentors, as well as a Slack community where students can ask and answer questions from their peers and request feedback on their work from industry experts. The Prep curriculum is designed to provide students with foundational knowledge of Software Engineering (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), and at the end of the course, students take the Technical Skills Survey (TSS), a comprehensive exam that will help students gauge how much they learned and decide if a career in Software Engineering is right for them.
