Nucamp's Fundamentals class was exactly what I needed to get me back into coding/programming after a few too many years of not using it. I am definitely more confident going into the FullStack Development course now. My professor was so experienced, so helpful and made it great for the total beginners and people with a little more experience. As someone completely new to coding, overall I am very satisfied with the Fundamentals course I took, especially for the price. 
I felt there was a lot of great information that was structured relatively well. I think trying to learn these basics on my own would have been much more difficult without the direction this course provided, as I would have been much more scattered. While I wish they had a bit more hands-on exercises during the CSS and first JavaScript week, they do include quite a bit of helpful resources to fill in the gap that offer some great examples. 
While the course was only $350, I feel like like what I learned is certainly up that value, if not more, and there's not much else I could really ask for. Read less

I joined the Nucamp fundamentals course to help me remember all the stuff I've forgotten over the years, and learn about all the things that have changed.  For a fundamentals course it does a good job touching on all the basics.  Since I had never used CSS before I wouldn't have minded going a bit more in depth there, but with limited time I understand why they couldn't.  For a "true" beginner I think this course is paced very well, but for someone like me with some previous knowledge I felt there could have been a little less hand holding and the assignments could have been a little less "cut and paste."
My instructor was great and was able to answer all my questions.  Being able to do 90% of the work on my own time was a real plus for me.

Nucamp was not my first choice because I thought, "how can a Bootcamp be this much less expensive than all the others?" I read a lot and asked other students, current and prior, of Nucamp about their experience and I never got a negative response. Ever. Based on my available time and my finances, I decided to try the Web Development Fundamentals course. I needed to brush up on my HTML and CSS and my experience in JavaScript was next to none. Plus, even if I didn't find their methods helpful, I'd only be out a small amount of money.

The amount of content required per week was more than manageable, it touched on the basics, and the Saturday class assignment tied up a great deal of what you learned that week. What I found exceptionally helpful were the Slack groups. No matter your question or problem, someone jumped in to answer it or help you through it. Sometimes the help came from instructors but more often it was students who helped out even if they weren't in your cohort or even taking your class. Everyone pitched in.

I'm glad I gave Nucamp a shot. Since everything went as well, I've signed up for their Fullstack Web & Mobile Development course. Once I've completed that, I'll be leaving a second and more thorough review of my experience. Hearing youtube reviews and the full interview of the CEO with a podcaster on youtube really help me chose Nucamp. Also, it was the best price which was needed since I'm on a very tight budget. I'm a school teacher as well, and another teacher who did the full stack BootCamp was able to change her career and land a job as a software engineer after the 2nd week of ending the Bootcamp. Though it was hard to follow sometimes as I started from scratch, the amount of work and group work helped tons. I did struggle, but at no point of time did I feel like I couldn't figure it out. Having no coding experience before hand I was apprehensive about doing this boot camp, but I was able to hold my own. I feel like the pace, self-work, and group-work was the perfect balance. If you ever want an absolute truckload of dev knowledge to be pressed into your head, this is the place. I thought that the cost was absolutely worth the experience. You will have access to more information than you know what to do with at the time you receive it. It is so difficult to trust the process but do it. It will feel like you're trying to describe cave paintings by touch in the dark, you just have to keep going. There is so much help from all directions. The instructors are supportive and responsive. The alumni and other students are invaluable. The slack channel is THE BEST support tool, learn how to search your lesson or problem within slack. All of the additional resources that are provided on literally every single page of the curriculum should be bookmarked and saved for reference, and for when you can go back to read and study them. It is a very flexible format that allows you to study when you can, but be sure to commit more time than you think will be needed. It was extremely challenging but worth every second. Read less

The course is kind of like a glorified Udemy or youtube course with your instructors really being more like TA's that you meet with on Saturdays. The instructors are probably the best part and are actually knowledgeable. 

If you still want to take it, enroll in the frontend and NOT fullstack. you can upgrade at any time, even after graduation. But they will not let you downgrade without dropping out entirely, and they won't refund your money. Read less

I was originally going to do data science at Springboard because they had a job guarantee. However, I learned I wasn't too in love with statistics and probabilities. I somehow found NuCamp and the DevOps program that is Python-based. I knew I wanted to continue learning Python but not Data Science. NuCamp costs substantially less though it doesn't offer a job guarantee. I did some research and saw that DevOps seemed to be in high demand, so I applied and was accepted. I enjoyed the coursework and enjoy learning more Python. The Saturday video calls are long but very helpful in answering questions, reviewing coursework, and starting the challenging assignments. 
I would highly recommend getting a little bit of knowledge of python through apps like Mimo before starting this course so you are not completely in the dark.  Read less

I like to say upfront I'm not being paid or will received any incentives for this review. This is optional for me to post. If you're just getting started and want to get your feet wet and have never code before, this is a great introductory course. Granted it's not the most in depth, you can only learn so much in 4 weeks, this does give you the confidence to build an html starter page, intro to css-where to put them(whether internal on the html or external link) and finally intro to javascript. How all 3 are put together to make a website dynamically. I tried learning on my own through free tutorials online and couldn't get pass css, where to put the line of codes etc. This is not the most in depth course, but a great intro course for the money and will get you prepared should you decide to go for the full stack course. Teaches you how to start talking and thinking like a programmer. Yes there are other bootcamp out there more intense and more in-depth, but the prices are also 10 times the cost. For the prices and value, this is a great intro to see if programming or being a web developer is for you, takes only 4 weeks. As of this writing we just finished and wrapped up our final workshop assignment. I signed up for the full stack course and we're given a month's break before jumping into the new course. If you're already familiar with the basics of html, css and javascript, then you don't need to take this intro course and can sign up directly for their full stack course. The full stack course assumes you already have a working knowledge of setting a html boiler plate, knowing how to do internal or external styling of css and javascript. Our class had 12 people so the instructor to student ratio is excellent. This was my first time ever using zoom video conference and first time using Slack which is "facebook/twitter" like text chat program for asking genral questions or posting about job boards or programming help.
