TripleTen

I did a lot of research into bootcamps before deciding on TripleTen (formerly Practicum). Some of the bootcamps I've researched include FlatIron, Thinkful, Springboard, App academy, CodeSmith, etc. After being in the TripleTen bootcamp for several months now, I have to say that I'm very happy with my choice. I’ll list below some of the key things and features that I like about the program. In no particular order:

1) TripleTen has built-in breaks and extensions for students. During the 1st month or so of the program, a huge crisis came up, that had me sidelined for around a month and a half where I was unable to work on the program. In, I think all of the other bootcamps mentioned above, I would have been kicked out from their program. And they would have kept at least part of my money. Most bootcamps have a policy where if you fall behind (for any reason, even if it’s an emergency), they remove you from the program. TripleTen, on the other hand, has breaks and extensions built into their program that you can take when you need. Even if you didn’t have an emergency situation, I think it’s also totally unreasonable for most of these bootcamps to expect a student to really learn and grasp so much material in such a short amount of time. So I think breaks and extensions are incredibly helpful in that regard. 

2) The people at TripleTen are fantastic! The staff here (from the tutors to the community managers) is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable . Definitely one of the highlights of the program.

3) TripleTen has periodic projects throughout the course. The program is divided up into what are called Sprints. Each sprint goes through lessons, and teaches you some material. And then at the end of each sprint you are given a project to complete. The projects are by far the most fun part of the course work, in my opinion. You get to implement what you learn, and the brief instructions are usually quite specific with what they want you to do. But there’s also room for creativity and adding your own features as well, if that’s something that you’re interested in doing (as I was). After you submit a project, it gets reviewed, where a reviewer will suggest corrections and improvements.

4) TripleTen has extra activities. The program has optional side activities that you can participate in such as code jams and externships. In a code jam, you are placed in a team with other students, and you have a project to complete. You compete against other teams. In an externship, you work with other students and a lead developer to actually design and/or implement some kind of project or feature for a real world company. Externships, in particular, are an amazing feature to have in a bootcamp, because it’s real world experience that you can put on your resume. 

5) TripleTen has a money back guarantee. Before you believe any camps money back guarantee, I suggest you read the fine details in their policy section. For instance, Thinkful has a money-back guarantee. But if you actually look into the fine details, their conditions for actually being eligible to claim the money back are incredibly strict. Some of the conditions are so extreme that it seems almost impossible to claim the money back. I won't go into the details here, but I suggest you look up the policy and decide for yourself. TripleTen on the other hand, has much much less stringent conditions for claiming the money back, which tells me that this bootcamp is confident in being able to land you a job after graduation. 

6) TripleTen has Senior Students. Senior students are a group of students who have been accepted by TripleTen to officially help/tutor other students. You don't necessarily have to be far into the program to become a senior student. You just have to know what you're doing (for the most part) and be willing to help others. I list this as a feature here, because it's actually become one of my favorite parts of the program. This may just be me, but I really enjoy working with other students to help fix their code. Not only that, but it gives you a ton of experience, looking at other people's code and trying to find and fix the issues. I do recommend it. Of course, becoming a senior student is totally optional.

7) TripleTen has a career program. A significant portion of the program is geared towards landing a job. I haven't completed the program, so I haven't fully dived into the career part yet. But as I approach the end, it's looking like their career program is extensive, which definitely gives me that extra layer of assurance that I’ll be able to land a job after graduation. I guess, overall, I would say that I highly recommend TripleTen, and that I’m very pleased with my decision to choose them for my bootcamp. Read less

I was a teacher for 9 years, but started to learn how to program on my own during the spring of 2020. It was hit or miss for me for about 2-3 years. I enjoyed it, but it was hard to be consistent. I toyed with the idea of a bootcamp for a long time and Triple Ten seemed to be the right one for me. The Software Engineering program has bee a great experience. It is well structured and there is always someone to help if you need it, tutors, community managers, and other students as well. Coming in, I felt like I had a decent grasp of some of the basics, but Triple Ten connected a lot of dots for me from my previous learning and gave me a deadline to keep me motivated. I got a job 3 months in to the bootcamp as a front-end developer. About 3/4 done with the bootcamp and still learning a lot! Triple Ten gave me enough confidence to apply for a job - and get it! I started my TripleTen journey last year after medical events made me incapable of physical work. I took the medical leave as an opportunity to start working towards a new goal. My experience at TripleTen has been fantastic, the layout of the course is easy to comprehend and I feel that I learn something useful with each and every lesson. 
The lessons are very informative without feeling too overbearing, everything I have learned seems to fit into the reality of software engineering. There is a good balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. However, in my opinion the best part of the TripleTen are the people there to support you. There are tutors anyone can reach out to, a reviewer for each time you submit a project, and a success manager to help with anything else you may have questions about. TripleTen has built an incredible team of people who feel like they genuinely want to see each student succeed. I did some research about which program I wanted to go with regarding my software engineering career,  and I can honestly say that I believe I made the right choice.

After moving to a new state and leaving a decade-long position, I found myself with the opportunity to completely change my career. I did some research, looking online for online courses, certificates, or trainings and stumbled upon tech bootcamps! Throughout all of the noise, TripleTen (Practicum at the time) kept jumping out at me; mostly because of the friendly and streamlined graphics and marketing, but also because they made it seem possible more than the others. With two kids under 5 at home and my husband working 6 days a week, I knew I had to find something flexible, and TripleTen seemed to be the right fit! I scheduled a call with a sales person and he called me almost immediately, even though he was on an airplane traveling to see his daughter for her wedding dress fitting! He was super personable and allowed me to ask dumb questions, explaining the answers to them all. He also asked me, "What's your why?" and I immediately realized that not only was I making this career change for myself, but also to secure a future for my family. Solid salaries, flexible working conditions, and a secure job market were all reasons I wanted to make this switch. And since then, nothing has changed! 

I started with the Software Engineer program and although it was really fun and sparked my creative side, I was worried that I couldn't see myself doing it forever, so I asked my sales rep if I could switch to QA and he made it happen! The QA program was definitely a better fit for how my brain works - I don't necessarily want to design a website, but if you do and you want me to help you make sure it works they way you wanted, I'm your gal. 

The platform is fantastic! It's user-friendly, simple, and the lessons are straightforward. The projects require some determination and sometimes outside studying, but tutors and instructors are always available to help when you reach out. The community of students on Discord are also extremely helpful and encouraging.  I even found a study group of fellow students who were all in a different sprint than me, but it was so lovely to be able to talk about the topics I was learning with someone who spoke the same "language." 

And while I haven't done the accelerated career program yet (one project left!), I have really valued the career advice throughout the sprints. I even used a LinkedIn message template from TripleTen to secure my current position! My boss was very impressed at mentions it often. 

That being said, the program requires determination and it's definitely not easy! You will need to take notes, study hard, and maybe even re-read through some lessons. Basically, what you put into the course is what you get out of it. Although it is a good deal (try to get in on one of the sales), it isn't free, so make sure you give it your all so that you get everything you can!  Read less

During the pandemic I started my self-taught journey to become a Web developer, I often found myself lacking consistency and asking myself what should I learn next? As you already probably know there’s a never-ending learning journey ahead and as a self-taught learner back then I often felt discouraged. I reached the conclusion that I would benefit from a structured program. I am currently a Triple Ten student and I will break down why I chose Triple ten and what day to day looks like for me.

Why Triple Ten? 

I am the only provider in my family and in order for me to be able to commit to a boot camp I needed to be able to keep my full-time job. But I did not want to sacrifice quality. For example, I wanted self -paced but I also wanted deadlines, timely feedback and a community. And that’s exactly what I found with Triple ten. As someone who was also on this website no long ago looking for an answer I would suggest to create a list of things you look for in a boot camp what are things that are negotiable. Write questions you have for the bootcamp. Schedule a call with the recruiters, and do a process of elimination of which program works best for you and your situation. If you need flexibility because you work fulltime , or you a stay at home parent and always have a hectic schedule I believe my review will be the most helpful as this is my current situation. 

Interactive platform- This is where you work on your theory (lessons) and after each theory which mainly consist on reading and examining coding examples. Then you work on the task where you immediately have to put in practice what you learned. On this platform you also have a calendar which shows you the schedule for the office hours for your current sprint. My favorite feature is the deadline recommendations. It lets you know where you have to be in order to accomplish the deadlines. An example of this would be: Finish your theory in 8 days. It helps me plan my week without feeling overwhelmed just make tiny goals that at the end will allow me to complete my sprint within my deadline. It also has a Skillset section where you can keep track of the skill sets that you gain as you pass the sprints. Also, a search bar to search through the sprints. The platform is really straightforward and easy to use. 

Feedback- This one was a big one on my list because as I was on my self-learning journey I often asked myself I know the code is working but am I doing it the right way? And it frustrated me because I would go to websites like Stack Overflow and everyone had a different way of successfully solving the same problem. I know that this won’t change of course but I am learning the best practices and why is the best practices. Once you are done with the theory plus tasks of your sprint you will work on your project. You will receive documentation on the requirements and a Figma link to the project. After you submit your project a Software engineer will go over your work and point out what you did correctly, what can be improved and what has to be corrected. This feedback has helped me grow tremendously. 

Community- All the interaction with the community is through Discord. This is the main method of communication. Everyone is assigned a Success manager who is your go to person for extension deadlines questions about the program or if you need to schedule a one on one with the tutors. The times I have missed a deadline my success manager has always been understanding and always show encouragement for me to keep going. My family don’t understand how difficult to grasp the concepts are and is nice to know I have a go to person that completely understands where I am in my journey. 

Tutors: If you are stuck during Theory part of the sprint or your project you post the questions on discord channel and tutor guide you. Also, each sprint they assign seniors or graduates as well to help tutors with assisting with questions when they(tutors) are offline. They also have co working sessions which I have not been able to participate due to my hectic schedule. They conduct Code jams I haven’t been able to participate but making it a goal to do so.  

 

Career support- I am currently on sprint 8 therefore I can’t speak much on Job hunting as I am not there yet. What I can say is once you are on Sprint 4-5 you start getting lessons on job hunting, how to have an online presence, what recruiters look for. Before those sprints you also get lessons on the soft skills that are important and employers look for. One of the lessons I have enjoyed the most is the when they illustrate the day to day responsibilities of web developers as it gave me a clear idea and I was able to dig deep and really ask myself if this is what I want to do. I am also glad that they introduce git and GitHub really early into the program. You are added to the career discord channel and you are able to schedule one on ones with the career team. I haven’t done so because my main focus is learning and building right now. Putting into practice the lessons on the career portion of the program but with my main focus right now is to create a strong foundation. 

With my review I truly hope you are able to get a clear picture on how this program works. Like previously stated I am currently on Sprint 8 there’s a total of 16 sprints. I have had personal challenges along this journey but I have truly felt I have a community behind me and no matter what IT GETS DONE. I've always been interested in tech, but never knew where to start. After doing research on different bootcamps, I decided to commit to TripleTen. I loved how they offered a platform with other students and tutors to help guide me on my journey of becoming a QA Engineer. They offer a ton of resources and real guidance on how to properly execute each sprint. I am currently a part-time student who works a full-time job. TripleTen does a great job with assisting students on sprints, projects, and honestly anything else you as a student may need! One of my favorite features of this bootcamp was the interactive platform, and Discord community. Being familiar with Discord helped me navigate each sprint along with correlating projects and any resources the tutors and students posted. Everyone in TripleTen is honestly so helpful and personable. I feel confident and comfortable with reaching out for help whenever it is needed.  This 5-month course is a great way to learn new skills with little to no background in quality assurance. I did not come into this program as fresh as some people are due to me having an Associates in Computer Programming and currently working in a IT Support role but there were still some fun and challenging sections. What this bootcamp also did was help reignite my desire to really make this the career that I want to do for the rest of my life.  One of the best things about this program is the students. They are always there to help you answer any questions and it helps you feel part of a community when everyone works to help each other out.  TripleTen also helps you work on your time management skills as each project can be worked at your own pace, but you still have deadlines for each project. It not only provides you the tools needed to complete specific types of testing but they also provide the fundamentals of quality assurance and software testing.  By the end of the program, you can confidently say that you know how to perform manual testing, automatic testing, mobile testing, API testing and more. My favorite project was actually the API testing as I really found the Postman application fun to use and with my current background in IT support it helped me understand how certain things work with my companies proprietary software.  Also, once you complete the program they don’t just throw you out into the woods and wish you the best. They want you and me to succeed in this career, which is why they provide career coaching. I’m in the process of looking for my first job after completing the program and my career coach has been so beneficial in helping me improve my LinkedIn, resume and cover letter.  If you are wanting to find a way to change careers and work in tech I would recommend TripleTen. I was stuck at a place in life where I didn't really know what I wanted to do or how to go about getting there, until my friend recommended TripleTen! It was everything I could have asked for and more. There is a pre-course call where they will go over your personal needs and skill levels and talk you through which course will be best for you, while explaining the timeline, and what is involved with the program. The curriculum is thorough and easy to follow, and allows a lot of opportunity to practice the skills you are learning along the way. My favorite part of learning is I don't feel the pressure of being graded in the traditional sense, but instead it is reviewed by a tutor and feedback is provided based on what was submitted with not only things that need improvement, but what you did well. There are also additional tools provided to help along the way, and the community is so supportive and available at all times. There is no "days off", in the sense that someone is always available, and you are able to work at your own pace within a certain time frame. I joined the Triple Ten business intelligence analytics program after a year of debate. As a mother of a now toddler, it was very hard for me to take on another challenge, as my schedule was already packed with being a mom, a wife, and working. Working with my business bachelor's degree alone wasn't cutting it in today's economy. I knew then that I had to do something else, and with my lifestyle, going back to college for a masters or something of that sort wasn't an option. Although I knew that I needed to improve myself in order to have a better quality of life for myself and my family, that is when I began to look into tech boot camps after I saw an ad on Instagram. I did my search, and kept postponing the decision for almost a year due to the cost and time, that I did not have then, but my decision was set on a program at  Triple Ten and I'm so glad that I did. Considering tech and coding wasn't something I believed I could do, but after taking the quiz about which program I could join based on my personality, I realized that the description provided, really was something I'm interested in doing for a career. I joined Triple Ten because I knew I wanted a career change, and I was not sure how to do so, but thanks to Triple Tens curriculum I knew I could make the change! They break things down so simple that you could do it in your sleep and since I am new to the tech world, I knew I needed a program that could do so.  The program is self-pace all online and if you ever find yourself in need of assistance to help further understand the chapter, they have tutors waiting to help you via chat and they also have one on one sessions, which has helped me tremendously in some chapters! I have learned so much since starting in September that I never knew I could do something like this before. I also like this bootcamp rather than other ones that I was searching due to its 6 months after graduate money back guarantee, if you don't find yourself a job within that time range, which was huge major decision for me because IT is new for me, so I knew I needed a safety blanket and Triple Ten helped with that decision. This boot camp has provided me with a great foundation in data science concepts. I also had the opportunity to complete an externship where I worked with Large Language Models and generative AI, which was a great way to build on what I already knew. TripleTen provides career services that include resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn reviews as well as the services of a career coach after graduation. As someone who gets stressed about job hunting, I have found these services to be immeasurably helpful. TripleTen is also willing to work with students within reason when they encounter life events. I got COVID during my time in the boot camp, and I was able to reach out to my community manager and work with her on deadlines until I recovered. TripleTen also provides opportunities such as code jams and competitions so that you can sharpen your skills outside of regular coursework and add more projects to your portfolio. Going into this program, I thought I knew enough to get a job. I mostly went into this course for the guarantee of finding a job. Once I got into the in-depth courses, I realized I was wrong. Going from Excel to SQL to tableau and Power BI, I found each lesson I was learning new things I hadn't even thought of before. I have had interviews for data analysis before, and I strongly feel that if I had taken this course first, I would have easily got the job! Each lesson also covers how to make yourself more desirable to hiring managers and recruiters. There is a lot to be gained from Tripleten. The best part of all is the job guarantee. I recently completed the data science course on TripleTen and would like to share my experience. My 2 hard requirements when finding a coding bootcamp were that the bootcamp have an active community with support and that it offers a flexible schedule due to my life circumstances. TripleTen has both! It has a great community of students, graduates, and of course professional tutors that are active on a daily basis. Because the course is based on self learning, you can basically study anytime which is great for people who have hectic schedules like me. But they have the added benefit of zoom classes every weekend for students who need 1 on 1 training on specifics.

My favorite feature is in the way that the actual learning material is structured. For every concept, TripleTen has an interactive notebook that you can instantly apply learned concepts on through practice which is great because it adds an additional layer of information retention quickly. I really am not a fan of lecture based learning so this was perfect for me. 

I would definitely highly recommend this course to anyone who is in search of a comprehensive datascience course with a great community and active support staff.  Read less

A significant part of my journey involved maintaining an active LinkedIn profile, a strategy that proved crucial in my job search. Regularly updating my profile with projects and skills gained through the course enhanced my visibility and connectivity in the tech industry.


Overall, TripleTen provided a comprehensive platform for transitioning into the tech world. It offered a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, set within a supportive community. For those considering a career shift into tech, TripleTen offers a solid foundation to build upon.

I recently completed the TripleTen course and am eager to share my experiences. The course was a comprehensive journey that went beyond my expectations. While no course is perfect, the material and platform at TripleTen are exceptional, offering a blend of in-depth learning and practical application.
One of the standout features was the Career Acceleration part, which provided invaluable insights and strategies for job searching. Although I'm not based in the US and couldn’t take full advantage of their American market-specific resources, the coaching sessions I received were instrumental in my job search process. I’ve been trying to learn coding for some time, mostly on my own. I explored various ‘Intro to IT’ marathons and a ton of free online courses. I learned here and there, on and off, over the course of 2 years.


By 2023, I started thinking about trying a bootcamp, especially after hearing numerous success stories from friends and YouTubers. There are tons of bootcamps, so picking one wasn't easy. I wanted one with good job support, real project work, and a decent price. That led me to Triple Ten. They had a deal with Women Who Code, so I got half off.
So far, I'm halfway through the program. I like that they use unique studying materials and the whole process is divided into sprints, so it feels like a real job in IT. They've got this system that checks our code automatically; however, the human touch isn't lost – real people also check every line of code. At first, getting feedback was hard, but now it's cool, and I'm looking forward to every review. I can definitely tell my skills are growing, as well as my self-confidence. Moreover, the community is incredibly supportive. Tutors, coaches, and other students are ready to help in the Discord chat. I also like the coding sessions and office hours where we can talk about our projects and get help with coding problems. I especially like opportunities to collaborate with other students. In December 2023, we had Code Jam, where we worked with students from other programs. I'm sure that my GitHub and LinkedIn will be full of cool projects that I will show to my future employer
