In 2019, I founded my own company. But then COVID struck and forced us to shut down before we even started. I couldn’t sit idle at home and decided to transition into a developer role by enrolling at Scaler. Then reality hit hard… my skills were outdated. Starting again from scratch wasn’t easy but my instructors weren’t just teachers; they were my guiding compass, pointing me towards data structures and algorithms through a maze...Each day I sat down with my laptop, determined to master DSA. I joined the DSML program last year, and it has been an excellent learning experience. The program is well-structured and helps build a strong foundation by covering concepts from the basics.

What I Liked About Scaler Academy

1. 1. Structured Curriculum

One of the biggest advantages for me was having everything organized in one place.Earlier, I was jumping between YouTube videos, blogs, and random resources. Scaler gave me:

• DSA preparation
• System design
• Backend concepts

• Mock interviews
• Guided practice

All under one structured roadmap.The curriculum moved exactly at the pace they had promised, and it aligned very well with actual interview expectations.

2. Mentorship and SupportThis was honestly one of the strongest parts of my experience.Mentors like Naman Bhalla completely changed how I approached problem-solving.And my mentor, Subham Soni, has supported me since 2022. Even today, he’s just a message away whenever I need advice or guidance.That level of continued support made the experience feel personal rather than transactional.

3. Mock Interviews and FeedbackThe mock interviews helped me overcome a huge amount of interview anxiety.Earlier, I struggled to communicate my thought process clearly during interviews.Regular feedback sessions improved:

Over time, I became much calmer and more structured during interviews.

4. Forced ConsistencyThis may sound harsh, but the structured environment genuinely forced discipline into my routine.And honestly, I’m grateful for that.By the end of the program, I felt like I had worked through almost every major interview pattern and problem type.

The ChallengesScaler definitely isn’t easy, and I think people should know that before joining.

1. Time CommitmentBalancing the course alongside a full-time job was difficult.There were many days when personal time had to be sacrificed to stay consistent with classes and practice.If you join, you genuinely need to dedicate time regularly.

2. The FeesThe fees can feel expensive, especially early in your career.I would strongly suggest:

• Exploring EMI options
• Understanding the curriculum fully
• Checking whether you can realistically commit the required time

before making the decision.

3. No Guaranteed PlacementThis is important.Scaler does provide placement assistance, mock interviews, and opportunities, but there is no guaranteed job placement.You still have to put in the effort yourself.For me, the placement support was genuinely helpful, but your results will ultimately depend on your consistency and preparation.

My ResultsOnce I started interviewing again after proper preparation, things began changing significantly.I received multiple offers from companies like:

• Walmart
• CoinDCX
• Oracle
• Other product-based companies

And over time, my career progressed from:
2.75 LPA → 15 LPA → 50+ LPA But more than the salary growth, what mattered to me was the confidence and clarity I gained throughout the journey.There were many moments when I doubted myself and questioned whether the investment was worth it.Looking back today, I can confidently say it was one of the most challenging yet rewarding decisions I made for my career.

Final Verdict — Is Scaler Academy Worth It?From my personal experience, yes — Scaler Academy had a positive impact on my career.But it’s important to understand this clearly:Scaler is not magic.It won’t automatically get you a job.What it does provide is:

I joined Scaler’s DevOps program while looking to transition and strengthen my practical DevOps skills, and overall it turned out to be a valuable experience for me.
One thing I genuinely liked about the program was that the learning was not limited to recorded theory sessions. The curriculum focused a lot on hands-on implementation, industry-standard practices, labs, assignments, quizzes, and contests. This helped me build consistency and improve my problem-solving approach instead of just memorizing concepts.
The DevOps track covered important areas like Linux, networking basics, cloud concepts, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, infrastructure-related practices, and real-world workflows that are actually used in companies. The structured approach made it easier to learn topics progressively instead of randomly learning from multiple sources online.
Another positive aspect was the placement assistance. I was able to secure a DevOps role through the opportunities and support provided during the placement process. The mock interviews, resume guidance, and contest participation were helpful in preparing for interviews.
That being said, I would also say that the outcome heavily depends on the candidate’s own effort. The platform gives resources, structure, and guidance, but you still need to practice consistently, actively participate in contests and assignments, revise concepts, and spend time learning outside the sessions as well. If someone is expecting placements only by attending classes passively, then no platform will be enough.
