When I look back at my time in the Cybersecurity Bootcamp, I can say without a doubt it was a good learning experience.  There is a lot of information coming at you quickly, although, for those who put their heads down, dig in, and digest the information it's definitely worth the work.  My only criticism would be the job assistance on the back end.  I feel like there are missing pieces, especially for those who don't come from a tech background.  Personally, I would share with those just starting out to get as much tech work experience as possible.  This will make for a smoother transition into the field.  All in all, I would recommend this course to others.   Read less

I have mixed feelings about this program. When I started this program I was nervous about the material but I was still invested in learning, so I gave it a try. Along the way the professors and the counselors tried to help regarding the material.There are also tutors that can help you with specific work you are given and they will do their best to help you. 

Although I did receive the certificate and graduated I'm still not in the cybersecurity/ technology/ IT field after 2 years sadly so I do believe an actual degree would have been more beneficial rather than taking the 11 month course for the certification. I also wish that there was more opportunity for networking so that I can actually find a job but the only thing that they had us do was go into "LinkedIn" and connect with classmates. That has not helped me get a job at all so I'm still unemployed.

Overall the program was consistent and if you're already knowledgeable in the field of cybersecurity then you will do fine. I still have not gotten a job related in the field after almost 3 years and I spent almost a year doing that program. This has not "transformed my career" at all with little to no job assistance.  Read less

 I really liked a lot of the instructors. They were engaging, made the information interesting, were helpful, and the best part of the course. They seemed like good people who had good experience. 
I honestly didn't have the best time looking for jobs afterward though. With the pricing I wish I got a bit more than I did. It's two years later and I don't yet have a job. Online job hunting can be rough.
Going to college now instead, which I wish I just spent this money on that to get a bachelors instead. This isn't to say it's not good info and a good class, just a bit pricy and still have plenty to learn.
I got network+ certified, which this was very helpful for, and I got good fundamentals for the security+ I'm working on, and good experience fixing problems and actually doing things so the coursework was mostly decent. I liked all the labs that we did and how we were able to use Linux and Windows Clients and all the activities that were planned and set up to use those for. 

Overall I liked it for the experience. I wish it was a little bit more affordable, and wish I got a bit more help with job searching. The teachers were amazing however, and the other folks working around the project to make it work seemed like good people too. Read less

The boot camp prepared me for my career transition into IT. Since I was new to IT, it helped give me a wide breadth of knowledge so I could land a job in IT. I think the boot camp was a good value for the price to get all the personal time with instructors that you receive. The sheer amount of hands on experience helps you gain much more knowledge than if it was purely classroom based. I would recommend this boot camp to anyone interested in changing gears to IT.  Read less

In this course, a student will become familiar with many topics and skills. This course will not get a student certified, and you may not be a viable applicant in the field after graduation. A graduate will have significant work after the course before being a viable applicant.  Read less

I joined the Nexus at the University of Michigan Engineering Cybersecurity Professional Bootcamp by ThriveDX to gain more experience in the cybersecurity field. The course delivered everything I was hoping for. the learning environment was very professional and fun. The instructors were always helpful regardless of my skill level on a topic. The knowledge and tools that we used during the coursework were transferable to my professional career. I was able to pass on the knowledge gained to my co-workers during lunch and learns. The BootCamp also laid the foundation so I could pass several industry certifications such as AWS CCP, LPI Linux Essentials, and CompTIA Security+ among others. I really enjoyed the experience and I proudly hang my certificate on my wall. Read less

2021 graduate of this bootcamp and part of the 7th graduating class overall. I had recently retired from a career in science and administration and was attracted to the fast growing field of Cybersecurity not only because of the availability of employment opportunities, but foremost for the chance to help protect our country from data theft. I came into the bootcamp with an above average knowledge of technical writing, computer applications and computer hardware, but with only a basic knowledge of cybersecurity and why it's so critically important in just about every facet of our lives. I can confidently say that this bootcamp met my expectations, providing both a well balanced and challenging curriculum, yet there is room for improvement of the student experience. As with many new programs, there were some bugs in the way a few of the labs were presented and at times I felt that there wasn't enough time devoted to some of the more challenging areas like coding, but overall this for me at least was money well spent. The instructors were top notch and all brought their own unique style of teaching. The career support team was also first rate. You will come out of this bootcamp with a very broad based knowledge of the many areas of cybersecurity specialization, as well as possess a capable set of technical and analytical tools with which you can then apply confidently towards a variety of entry level industry positions.  Read less

The perception going in to this program that I had was that I was that I would be able to easily get a 100k a year job by the end of the program. As the program went on, however I realized more and more that this could not be further from the truth. This program qualifies you for a minimum wage job at best. The certificate obtained from completing the program has no weight in the cyber world and I certainly don't feel qualified to work a decent job. Now this wouldn't be much of a problem if the program wasn't 16,000 dollars and took 11 months. Before I signed up for the boot camp, if I had known what I know now I would not have done it. My experience at U of M Nexus was very good. I gained the necessary skills and experience to get into the IT and Cyber Security industry. The curriculum was straight forward and the professors would stay after class to provide additional help. The Professors were super knowledgeable and provided real world examples. The labs in each course provided realistic situations you would see in a real Cyber security analyst role.  I am currently an IT administrator and I would never have had this position without the knowledge I gained from this course. If you aren't looking to do a traditional 4 year degree then I would highly recommend taking this route.  Read less

Nexus is at the forefront of cybersecurity technologies, theories, and methodologies, and this is evident through the course materials, exercises, and projects. The course is very comprehensive, although it can be challenging due to the extensive content covered in a relatively short time frame. However, if you dedicate yourself and actively participate in class, you’ll discover a sense of camaraderie among your classmates and benefit from the mentorship provided by the professors. I've been an IT professional for about 20 years primarily in system administration and engineering of SAN/NAS environments.  I was looking to make a change in my fields and have wanted to go into security and system protections.  This course, while informative, seemed to be more geared towards those with little to no background in IT.  The instructors were knowledgeable but the material itself was rather basic.  I was hoping for something a little more advanced considering the time and expense of the course.  It did help me get some resume padding material and I was able to parlay that into a new position.  Now I'm looking at taking more formal degree focused programs as opposed to certificate programs like this.  For the cost of the course, I think in my situation as an IT professional it would have made more sense financially to look at a degree program instead. The material we covered was so surface level that it doesn't help with finding employment in any of the areas. Curriculum was based solely off tests so it seemed there was little regard to how well we grasping material other than the test. Half the instructors were very good and helped as best they could with the scope of the bootcamp, while the other half were rude, and failed to gauge if the class was grasping the material. This course overall was a complete waste of money, and it someone were to ask me personally if they should attend the bootcamp, I would go as far as saying it is a scam.  Read less

If you put the effort into this class that ThriveDX put into creating and cultivating this class, this will absolutely change your life. This will challenge the information you think you know, and the information yet to come. It is a challenging course, but in the best way possible. This will give you a baseline in everything Cybersecurity in order to set you up for a very successful career. It directly led to a promotion at my previous job in IT, and that led to what I'm doing now. In technical support, working from home, and making more money than I ever have. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a change in their career. It does come with, what I would say, a heft price tag. But don't be fooled, that comes 100% justified in what this course teaches. Mike Geller is one of the best teachers I've ever had in my life, and the rest of the instructors were just as good. I came from a non-technical background and recently migrated from Africa. I have always loved technology, and this bootcamp gave me all the knowledge and hands-on experience I needed to get into the cybersecurity world. Today, I am an Archiver Engineer, and I am loving it each and every day. This bootcamp is a very rewarding program.I am so grateful for the opportunity to have attended this bootcamp. The instructors were knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum was comprehensive and challenging. I learned everything from the basics of cybersecurity to more advanced topics like network security, intrusion detection, and incident response.The hands-on experience I gained in the bootcamp was invaluable. I was able to work on real-world projects and scenarios, which gave me the confidence I needed to start my new career.I am now working as an Archiver Engineer at a leading cybersecurity company. I am responsible for designing, implementing, and managing archiving solutions for our customers. I love my job, and I am so grateful to the bootcamp for helping me to achieve my career goals.If you are thinking about a career in cybersecurity, I highly recommend this bootcamp. The professor Steven Romero is a good person but a terrible teacher. He's enthusiastic about the material but will go on speaking about his job or some other random crap for at least 30 min at a time, Half the labs did not work, resulting in us having to spend 30+ min extra on labs just to troubleshoot them. They had the same instructor teach 3 sections in a row, where as they advertise different experts for each section. After all this was brought to the attention of the directors of the program I was denied a refund despite clearly not getting what I was paying for nor what was advertised. This program does have a few good professors, but the experience, and the cost of $16,000 is not worth it, especially when no certification test are offered or included in the cost to go. Read less

Course was awesome. All of the teachers were qualified to teach and were helpful when it came to questions about different fields of study. Prepares you for certifications once you complete the course. Books and study guides are all online which makes studying easy. Course was very organized and easy to follow. And not only do you learn, but you also get coaching on building your resume as well as interviews. Read less
