Interview Kickstart

I have so many good things to say about this course that I don’t even know where to begin so I’ll start with the obvious. The main goal of this course is to get students ready for the tech industries most difficult technical interviews. Interview Kickstart easily excels at that objective, but why? Because they give you a very clear defined structure around all the classifications of algorithms you'll most likely need to be familiar with for technical interviews. They give you a process and approach to think about how you would solve those categories of algorithms. But, Algorithms aren’t the only interview step IK focuses on; they also prep you for the system design and behavioral portions of technical interviews. In  addition they provide mock interviews with practicing employees at all the top tech companies. Ok, with all that being said, IK clearly excels at getting their students ready for technical interviews. 

But for me, I would say that is not the most important or life changing part of the IK program. This curriculum is difficult. It will most likely push your skills and force you to do better than you’re currently being challenged. You’ll have to learn to set a rigorous study routine and to consistently show up and stumble your way through hard problems until you look up one day and realize you’ve improved significantly more than you noticed or are willing to credit yourself for. If you’re like me and your focus abilities have been negatively impacted then this course and a strong desire to be successful will greatly improve your attention span and ability to focus on complex and difficult problems until you come to the most optimal, general and elegant solution. IK has four strong pillars. Foundations videos go broad and deep. They teach concepts. Live sessions reinforce the concepts with concrete examples. Tests (practice and timed), they provide the practice required to perform in interviews. The most important of all is getting the feedback on your journey. That is mock interviews. The recipe to make oneself successful in next career move is packed into this course. Of course practice and following through curriculum is the key. The support personnel are just amazing. They are at your fingertips to help you out. One improvement, I would like to see the session length for live sessions always goes beyond the meeting time. Sigh....where do I begin.

My journey as a software engineer has not been an easy one. After graduatiing from undergrad a long time ago, I realized that if I was ever going to use the math skills I possessed I was going to have to learn how to program. Given there were no boot camps at the time (it was so long ago :P ), I did the next best thing and went back to school, finding a year long masters program for Computer Science. In hindsight, that program, in its infancy at the time, was not as helpful as it should have been. Much of what we learned was old and outdated and the program lacked rigorous instruction in the single most vital component of Software Engineering interviews, data structures and algorithms. As such I didn't feel very prepared when it came time to interviewing.

The job interviewing process for me was a real wake up call and terribly frustrating. I would typically start interviewing, stumbling, struggling, and learning throughout the process until things finally clicked and I was able to land a job. Long story short the process was miserable.

A number of years down the road I found myself in the Bay Area, the tech capital of the world and I knew I would have to better my knowledge of software engienering fundamentals if I wanted to successfully receive offers from top companies. I couldn't keep preparing in the manner I had previously. Hence I found Interview Kickstarter.

I will start with the difference in my interviewing results at the conclusion of the interview kickestarter program. Previously when interviewing, as I mentioned before, I would essentially struggle and fail through interview after interview, until I finally got one right. Before Interview Kick Starter I had never had more than 2 offers at once. At the conclusion of my latest interview saga, I had been invited onsite to 17 different companies, and had received offers from half of them. Its certainly true that I struggled at times, and didn't quite get offers from the goal companies I had in mind. Nevertheless the difference in interveiw results speak for themselves.

The program is extremely rigorous, and while the structure can be too rigid at times, the resources offered to better ones interview skills, whether it be building the core compotency with data structures and algorithms, learning domain knowledge regarding system design, and other soft skills like offer negotation, healthy study habits, and resume building, provided ample opportunity for me to grow in ways I previously thought were not possible.

Long story short, joining interview kickstart was the best thing I've ever done regarding interview preparation for my career. For those who don't have the time to commit, I would caution you against signing up for the program. I was working while I did the program and I spent no less than 20 hours a week doing problem sets. The program is difficult, and will be hard for anyone working full time. The more time you can dedicate to it the better.

Such a waste of money! The sales strategies are aggressive! Over promise under deliver!
The idea is compelling but the actual execution is a disaster! If you want to spend $8000.00 for a failure, go for it!

Title: Not worth a penny ($8k wasted) – Misleading sales team and terrible support!

I finally signed up for Interview Kickstart on May 15th, 2026, after six months of relentless daily emails and phone calls from their sales team. From day one, I doubted it and resistred to sing up and brought up my concern with the sales and they misguided me. I realized it was a huge mistake from day 1.

English is my second language, and I struggle to understand heavy Indian English accents. I raised this specific concern with the sales team before signing up. They manipulated me and assured me that while a few instructors were Indian, the program was diverse, and most students were American. Relying on their promises, I trusted them and paid $8,000.

That was completely false. Three months in, every single session has been led by instructors with heavy accents, and 99% of the students are Indian as well. It even gets worse: they all talk over each other, and teachers can not mange the online class by simply muting students and giving them access one by one to talk! (To be clear: this isn't an attack on Indian culture; it's strictly a communication barrier on my end as an ESL speaker).

When I reached out to Support, Sales, and Operations, I got caught in an endless loop of automated emails. Every reply I sent was met by a new agent asking the same questions. Even my assigned "Student Success Manager" just dumped me back into the Operations email void. When another non-Indian student and I brought it up during a live class, the instructor just told us to "contact Operations."

It’s been three months of complete exhaustion, zero progress, and $8,000 down the drain. The concept is decent, but the execution is a disaster, and the sales team will lie to get your money. Their student support team is another disaster of receiving a million spam calls and emails instead of receivng a right on point support.

Interview Kickstart has been a game-changer for me as a data scientist. The curriculum is extensive but thorough, and the instructors are clearly experts who know how to teach what actually matters in interviews and on the job. The support team was fast, responsive, and handled every question and concern I raised. I recently took few sessions of the advanced ML program.This course is very well designed and up-to-date with current industry trends and real world use-cases. On enrolling I found the course material to be really comprehensive and apt to what is generally expected in technical interviews.
