General Assembly

The course was full of practical content coming from latest technologies used in industry. I have to put my 120% to learn new things covered in the course. it started from basic things like html and css and ended up with django and mysql. Real project and being hands-on through the course helped me to upskill quickly.
Joel, our main instructor, has an incredible depth of technical skills, particularly in software development. His ability to break down complex concepts into manageable lessons made a significant impact on my learning experience. The hands-on projects and real-world applications he introduced us to not only enhanced my technical proficiency but also sparked my passion for software engineering.

I took the User Experience Design Immersive course in 2018 and had a great time! We learned the foundations of UX design and worked together in groups to apply our learnings to various projects. We even worked directly with a client at the end of the course. I left the course with 5 different case studies that I was able to showcase in my interviews for UX Design roles after graduation. 

Tyler Hartrich, Neil Kahn, and Carly Liebman were supportive instructors and made the class feel like a little family. Thank you all for creating an engaging learning environment for us! 

If you're making a career change like I did, taking a bootcamp like this one at GA is a great way to start by learning with likeminded people from different backgrounds and really gain knowledge needed for your first UX role. UX is constantly evolving, so in addition to the course, it would be important to continue learning about new innovations, emerging technologies, and case studies from others about best practices.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at GA. With 4 projects within 3 months, these were a good start to having a portfolio upon graduation. Naturally, that depended on your effort and diligence throughout the project duration. The pace was pretty fast with a project week after every two weeks of classes, but that served to stretch my learning capabilities. The course covers the basics of full-stack software development. There is definitely a lot more to learn in the tech industry, but it’s a good stepping stone for mid-career switchers.

I recently completed the Software Engineering Bootcamp at General Assembly and it has been an extraordinary journey. Very tough, but definitely worth it.  

From day one, the course was well structured and a nice balance between theory and practical, hands-on projects. The curriculum is well-designed, covering a wide range of topics, from basic programming concepts to complex algorithms and data structures. My instructor was exceptional. They were able to bring their previous experience into the classroom and give us some good tips and tricks on how our days will work when we are a developer. They were always available for one-on-one sessions, to answer questions and provide guidance on projects.


Another highlight of the program was the collaborative environment. I was initially skeptical that an online program would be particularly engaging but we worked closely with others in the class, and have even met with them in person after the course finished. We worked on numerous group projects big and small that simulated real software development scenarios. 
In conclusion, The skills, confidence, and connections I've gained are invaluable. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to make a significant impact in their professional life.

Wow is all I can say. General Assembly is quite possibly one of the most accommodating, inclusive and accessible companies I've ever come across. If you are applying and are worried about achieving this course, as it is quite intense, please do not fret. JUMP! Apply! I received endless help, understanding, and accommodation throughout my course and completed it with flying colours.
The student success team, Joanna and Somerset, are who will assist with anything you may need and they are INCREDIBLE.
The instructors are understanding and willing to help and give that extra time to you if you need it.

I had already been taking some self guided studies in the software engineering domain for a few months prior to applying for GA but decided paying to do their program would be the quickest pathway to obtaining my first job in the field. Given the knowledge I had already obtained prior to the bootcamp commencing, I was initially a little frustrated with the basic content in the first two weeks but when I flagged this with my instructor he was more than happy to give me additional reading and content to study while the class covered the first unit. It was all up hill from here though and the next 10 weeks I found myself allocating easily 60 hours a week to study (including class time/homework and my own additional exploration). Some days I felt dizzy from the amount of info I was trying to retain but building the project at the end of each unit was very fun and rewarding. My teacher (dt) was incredible and excelled at helping students get the most out of such a short term program. The careers team were also very helpful in providing a framework and support to help you get that first job. It took me a further 3 months of hustling every day and nearly 180 job applications to land my first job but here I am writing this 12 months from starting the course, in a permanent job as a fully remote software developer and I couldn't be happier.

The bootcamp is everything you need to get yourself up to speed in terms of data science competency.
Being a bootcamp, there are some assumptions that you need to know upfront:

• It will be FAST paced! It is a bootcamp after all. It will feel like cramming a few uni semesters into one.
• You need to have some competency in Python and A level/uni maths.
• Commit the ENTIRE 3 months to this course. Pretty much doesn’t leave much time for anything else.

Having said that, the course materials are very comprehensive and instructors very supportive. 
Career coach is also very helpful, though of course only as helpful as the effort that you put in yourself.
There’s just a few areas that the course is lacking, which is understandable due to its short duration:

• More comprehensive SQL. The bootcamp only touhes it superficially, though the industry seems to emphasise on this.
• Data visualisation softwares. Qlik/Tableau/Power BI is not covered at all, but will be a huge bonus if you have some competency.

Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you’re looking to do a career switch or to gain data science competency.

Embarking on my journey into web development with General Assembly was nothing short of intensive, yet immensely rewarding. Over the duration of the course, we delved deep into the core pillars of web development, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Boolean logic, and the invaluable skill of utilizing GitHub and specialised software. Each topic presented its own challenges, but the journey was enriched by the dedicated guidance of our course instructors. The course structure demanded diligence and perseverance, but the allure of creating something tangible, something that resonates with the digital world, kept me filled with enthusiasm. Despite the steep learning curve, the journey remained consistently intriguing, with each lesson offering new insights and opportunities for growth. One of the standout aspects of the course was the unwavering support and motivation provided by the teachers. Their passion for the subject matter was infectious, igniting a fire within each student to push beyond their limits and strive for excellence. Their encouragement played a pivotal role in navigating through the complexities of web development and emerging victorious on the other side. As the course drew to a close, the culmination of our efforts manifested in the creation of our own websites. This hands-on experience not only solidified our understanding of the concepts but also instilled a sense of accomplishment that cannot be overstated. Witnessing the transformation from novice to proficient developer was a testament to the effectiveness of the course curriculum and the dedication of our mentors. In retrospect, while the journey was undeniably challenging, it was also profoundly fulfilling. The skills acquired throughout the course not only equipped me with the technical know-how required for a career in web development but also provided invaluable insights into the potential future that lies ahead in this dynamic field. For anyone considering a career in web development, this course is not just an educational opportunity but a gateway to understanding the boundless possibilities that await in the world of technology. 

I attended General Assembly's bootcamp, and while my instructor was knowledgeable and supportive, I experienced disappointment with their job placement promises. Initially, I was led to believe that landing a job post-graduation would be more immediate. However, the reality was different. They often cited minor reasons, like not responding to one of their messages, to avoid accountability for job placement. Despite being punctual and diligently completing all requirements for over a year, I found their commitment to securing employment opportunities somewhat lacking. It's crucial for prospective students to approach their expectations with a realistic perspective on post-graduation outcomes.I wouldn't have enrolled in the course at General Assembly if they hadn't assured me of a job guarantee. The promise of post-graduation employment heavily influenced my decision to purchase the course. However, the disparity between their assurances and the actual job placement process left me feeling misled and dissatisfied with the overall experience. Clear communication and realistic expectations are essential when making decisions about educational investments, and unfortunately, the initial commitment to guaranteeing a job did not align with the outcome.

A heartfelt shout-out to John Jacobs and Evan Maloney from General Assembly for illuminating the path. Their mentorship has opened up a world of possibilities! 🌟 Grateful for the journey and ready for new horizons! Their professionalism and patience have helped me succeed in learning coding as a designer, and I am able to continue learning after graduating. Their encouragement during the class has helped me have a smooth process in learning front-end coding. I definitely recommend them to anyone who wishes to learn front-end coding with them. 

General Assembly stands out as outstanding bootcamp learning partner. I had a genuinely rewarding experience in completing the JavaScript Development bootcamp with General Assembly Australia. The instructors were exceptional in delivering concepts and put in great effort in practical demonstration of course. Code-alongs, class exercises and challenging home assignments made a positive impact towards my learning. The feedback and support was always available from my instructor and TA's, which helped me in developing my skills and overcome any issues. My confidence and ability in my coding skills has increased and I feel prepared to taking the next step in my coding journey. 

12-week fastpaced bootcamp focused on drilling in the bare essentials to function professionally as a web2 engineer/developer, with the knowledge easily extendable to general software development with a little bit of extra studying. Instructors were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, even when I asked about topics outside the scope of the bootcamp, which provided me direction to explore on my own. Career coaches were also very helpful and responsive and provided constructive advice on how I should approach my job search. I do wish, however, that there had been more meet and greet events open to us to aid in job search as the one we had was the best way, in my opinion, to get a company to view us.

As an Overall Review of GA's UXDI Immersive --
For GA's UXDI Immersive, you're thrown headfirst into a crazy 40+ hour/week commitment with barely any time to take a breath of fresh air. Now, this seems daunting (and it absolutely is), but if you go into this program with the mindset that you want to succeed, that you want to get as much out of this program as you possibly can before those brief 12 weeks are up, then you'll be fine -- I can guarantee it. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that you will only get as much out of this boot camp as you're willing to put in. You will not be hand-held the entire time, you will be expected to execute design projects in incredibly short amounts of time (but they don't have to be perfect (!!) just backed with good research). While it is okay that you aren't able to get to some of the additional reading material, know that your willingness to absorb and apply everything you learn will make you a better UX'er. You must (as cheesy as it sounds) become one with the course material and the applications.

Something that could be improved --
There are a handful of things that I think this course, or at least my experience with the course, could have been improved upon. One prominent one is pacing. The first 4 weeks of the course are a whirlwind of information. It's like getting thrown into the ocean with just a panel of wood to keep you afloat. Towards the latter half of the course, while I appreciated the vast amounts of "Workshop Time", I would have liked it even more to have other lessons sprinkled throughout the rest of the course to further enhance my UX/UI skills, or just to learn more about how UX fits into different industries.

Other Key Takeaways --
It is no secret (if you've done your research) that GA is one of the most expensive boot camps out there. This is why I mentioned that you have to be ready to really (no pun intended) immerse yourself into the program and be like a super sponge to really get your value's worth.

I was fortunate to have a wonderful career coach, Amber. She wasn't just a coach, she was also a mentor to me as I searched for jobs and eventually completed a design challenge. I am so grateful for her help and guidance, but I also know that no two people's experiences are the same. 

General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive (remote) has far exceeded my expectations of what a bootcamp can do for its students.  Over the course of 12 weeks, I learned more than I possibly could have imagined on day one with incredible support from my instructors, TAs, and outcomes coach.  These instructors really care about your success and prepare you not just to be a good software engineer, but a great employee who can work independently and actively contribute to a team.  Would suggest this bootcamp to anyone interested in coding but would highly recommend you try some coding lessons independently first to make sure this is a field you want to dive into.   10/10 experience, it will forever change my life.

My experience with GA was amazing! My instructors were all incredibly knowledgable, welcoming, and always available for my cohort. I was able to grasp the skills within the 3 months and the projects helped to build my portfolio that would later help me land a job. The teaching style was moderately fast paced but having helpful instructors that were always fine answering questions or slowing down when needed was great to have. My career coach was also very helpful in my development into this new space. He helped me with interview practice and building my personal brand. All in all my bootcamp experience was great and I would and will always recommend this program and organization to others to make a move into the tech industry.  

Overall Experience:
I can't say enough good things about this bootcamp. From day one, I knew I was in for an experience that would not only challenge me but also shape my future in tech.

Instructors:
Big shoutout to our instructors - Ben Manley, David Stinson, William Hunter Long, Ian Terada, and Joe Malatesta - for their crazy cool support and in-depth explanations. Each brought their own unique style to teaching, making complex topics digestible and relatable. I've got to give a special mention to Hunter; thanks to his help during our group project, I felt like a real software developer for the first time in my life. And Joe's wisdom - "never call yourself a bad developer, and never allow anyone to call you that" - has become my personal mantra.

Curriculum and Projects:
The projects we tackled were skill-building tasks that pushed us to apply what we'd learned. They were challenging but also incredibly rewarding. These weren’t just academic exercises; they had real-world applications that gave me a strong portfolio.

While it was a roller coaster ride for me, it was definitely worth my time and effort. I highly recommend it!

I recently completed the GA SEI program and it was the best decision I’ve made for myself in my life. My lead instructor Dan was the most knowledgeable and skilled teacher I’ve ever had, and made this experience not only doable but enjoyable. I couldn’t have asked for a better team leading us through the unknown. On to the job search I go, with confidence and skills I know will lend me my dream job!

I had many doubts before investing half of my savings in GA data analytics BootCamp a year ago, but now everything around me proves that was the right decision to make. Before that I already had diverse educational backgrounds across TAFE and university programs - none of them yields more outcomes than this 3-month journey. At the time of joining GA in May, 2022, I was unemployed in the aftermath of COVID as a migrant living alone in Australia. Now is June 2023, I'm working as an IT professional with a decent salary in a life-balanced environment. I know friends who recently graduated with Masters of IT at UNSW, UON, or a Cert IV from TAFE, they are actually not doing as good as I am. As once told at an info session at TAFE, this is an unregulated industry - so as long as you find the right field for your (e.g. Data analytics), go for it, gain the skill, then it doesn't matter where you are from, practice your English, then you WILL find a good job. P.S. I know depends on the occasion some may have complained about the instructors, I am a TAE-certified trainer,  trust me, I have seen a lot worse at uni and TAFE, it's not an easy subject to teach, and even more so for 8 hours x 3 months non-stop. 

Went into the bootcamp rather nervous, but it turned out that the environment was such a safe space to make mistakes and learn. Students weren’t afraid to ask questions/clarify, which allowed them to gain confidence in their new skillsets. This is especially helpful for those who are doing a major career change and have a case of imposter syndome or self doubt.

Kudos to the instructors and teaching assistance for their patience.

I absolutely loved my time with General Assembly and their Software Engineering Immersive. It was a full-time online course over three months. The instructor I had at the time, Michael Lackey, was absolutely fantastic in his explanations and guidance. He could be overbearing but because of that, those of us who made it through the course all agreed that it greatly helped to develop our coding skills, learning ability, critical thinking, and teamwork mentality. 
The post-course outcomes department is a strong force that has helped me personally with my search for a position. Though the market is tough at the moment, they offer great guidance, resources, and connections to other engineers. 
I highly recommend this course. If I had a second chance to choose a BootCamp, I would select this one all over again. 

General Assembly's Full Stack Engineering Boot Camp has been an absolute game-changer for me. The program not only helped me establish a strong online presence but also provided me with the skills and confidence to pursue a brighter future.
From the knowledgeable instructors to the hands-on approach, every aspect of the boot camp exceeded my expectations. Before signing up for the course, I was considering whether to upskill through self-study or attending a Bootcamp. Wanting to connect with more like-minded people and get a certificate, I signed up for the course.



It turns out that I had gained more than that. The course is designed such that you can follow well and get the most of it. Our instructors are helpful and provide lots of insights for real world Software Engineering role. 



Other than technical aspects, my career coach also provides valuable tips and consultations on CV preparation, insight of processing CV in a company, job application etc. 



After the course, I’ve also built up a habit to continue learning after work. To sums up, this course comes with necessary resources to make your learning journey easier and fun, how much you want to gain from it depends on the effort you put in. 

General Assembly’s Software Engineering Immersive served as a great experience that allowed me to grasps web development and give me the skill to pursue software engineering. My instructors were amazing and were always willing to chat after class and help me understand anything that I had questions on. The full-time program is definitely an time investment but I personally think it’s worth it. I do wish that on the final unit more time was spent on Typescript but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

The curriculum for Data Analytics Remote (Online) was exactly what I needed to get started in the Data Analytics space, but the instructor is what really brought this course to life. Durga was fantastic in taking the time to explain concepts and give additional examples where needed. She used her day-to-day experience to help illustrate how the course work could be used in practical instances. I highly recommend the course, and am looking forward to additional GA classes over time. 

My experience was overall great! Since graduating, I have done a ton of work to continue my education and skill building in ux by doing pro bono work, alongside looking for full time work. Although I feel like UX bootcamp classes may not be the most accurate depiction of the realities of any particular job, my instructional team definitely gave me the resources and skills needed to apply in many directions. I just have to maintain that willingness to grow post course! Since I graduated in Decemeber, I've continued to use GA as a resource and it's been a blessing to have the campus to come back to in NYC. Not to mention the whole world of alumni and graduates. Although I haven't landed my first job yet, I am so happy with my choice of going to General Assembly. 

The instructors at General Assembly are phenomenal at what they do and also bring lots of real world experience to the table. I learned so much more than I expected to within the 6 months I attended the Software Engineering Immersive Online Flex program. It was a lot to juggle between a full time job and the bootcamp, but it was so worth it, and I was able to secure an SE job within a few months of graduating.

The outcomes coaches are nice and supportive, but I didn't interact with them much after the conclusion of the bootcamp itself and largely searched for jobs on my own. There's a lot of general advice but not a lot tailored to you, and it seems like there are way too many students per coach, so it was difficult to get any 1 on 1 time with them more than 15 minutes at a time. Also, the direct job recommendations were so few compared to the number of students looking.

All in all, I think the GA bootcamp was worth it for everything I learned, but your mileage with outcomes post-course will vary.

Course was very fun, challenging, and informative. Classes were structured at the right pace...occasionally material was confusing, however both instructors (Britni and Tricia) gave us ample time to ask questions. I was blessed to work with 4 other smart, capable students in a preassigned small group for a project (1 member later dropped out which did increase the workload). Nevertheless, this is a great course if you're new or seasoned to product management. Cost is on the higher side for a 10 weeks course, but General Assembly does offer finance options. It appeared many of my classmates didn't flinch at that (most likely because their employers paid for it; I wasn't so lucky). While the final day of class was memorable for connecting with professional PM's currently practicing their craft, the biggest gripe is the lack of transition to a PM role. It is entirely possible to take this course and STILL walk away without a PM career at the end of it. This class is great, the instructors our amazing, but GA drops the ball HARD on progressing you into a PM role at close of the course. Hopefully, GA can re-work their courses to transition graduates into actual tech roles, perhaps offer a complimentary internship for graduates with tech companies.

I attended my Software Engineering Immersive (SEI) bootcamp with General Assembly in mid-late 2022.

Having previously met and hired multiple graduates from GA I went in having done quite a lot of my own + some crowdsourced research, and was not disappointed.
Definitely not for the faint of heart, GA will take your education (and post-graduation) seriously, and push you to the limits of what you can accomplish in a short time frame (12 week immersive in my case).

The teaching & instruction team are tried and tested, with a lot of the Instructor Associates having previously been graduates as well, you're well supported from the beginning with people who have really 'been there and done that' before you, understanding the highs, the lows, the stress, the FAQ's and everything in between.

From a post-graduation standpoint the Careers & Success coaching is tip top, something that I discovered almost no other bootcamp education provider actually offers, or if they do it's in it's infancy by comparison to GA. Regular catch-up's, infinite access to 1 on 1 career, resume, tailored job application, networking events, group interview session etc are on offer on a very regular basis - not to mention additional resources in email follow ups on potential job openings you can apply for week in week out (they do half if not 75% of the job search process FOR you).

Highly recommended, competitive and thorough education top to bottom, my current boss is stoked I came out knowing the practical skills I needed to be a hands on coder very quickly.

This was one of the most intense courses I did, it's only 6 days long, but the content was great.
We went from ideation to investor deck in less than a week.  The instructor was outstanding, had great communication skills and a wealth of product experience.
The content is very clear and systematic with multiple external references to drill into on your own time. The group exercises were engaging and practical. A very wholesome experience. The job assistance wasn't amazing, there are a few groups (LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack) where alumni can share jobs and cvs.
I went out and applied the learnings from the course by consulting a company I knew and as a result, doubled their subscriptions. 

I recently completed a 12 week software engineer immersive course at GA Sydney and I couldn't be happier with the result. The course covered a wide range of topics, including computer history, javascript, ruby on rails, jQuery, react, and Vue. I was impressed by the creativity and fun aspects of the course, such as learning three JS and p5, and even creating music with sonicPi.

One of my favourite parts of the course was the weekly projects that allowed us to put our knowledge into practice and solidify our understanding of the material. The projects were a great opportunity to work in a team, learn git branching, and improve our teamwork skills.

In addition to the technical skills, the course also provided valuable networking opportunities. The course instructors connected us with a large network of professionals, which was a fantastic resource for finding job leads and resources after completing the course.

Overall, I highly recommend this programming course to anyone looking to improve their skills and advance their careers. The diverse range of topics, hands-on projects, and valuable networking opportunities made for a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience.

I participated in the remote online Product Management course that spanned the course of 10 weeks. During which I had the opportunity to learn about the product lifecycle, how to conduct user interviews, and how to effectively present my discovery findings. There was also ample time during class to practice what we were learning with other classmates, learning from each others ideas as well as networking with one another. I thought the instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and engaging to learn from. I would recommend GA to anyone who is looking to take the next step in their personal and professional growth.
