Flatiron School

Going to the Flatiron School was a fantastic decision and served me so well. I completed an in-depth, comprehensive curriculum involving Ruby, Ruby-on-Rails, JavaScript, React/Redux, SQL, HTML/CSS, among many other frameworks. The support of the faculty and the student community was phenomenal. After going through the school, not only did I know for sure that I can do the job of a developer, but that I want to do it. I fell further in love with programming. After graduating, the career services team did all they could to help place me with a great job-- fantastic counseling, great networking events, and a business development team reaching out to awesome employers on my behalf! I got my current position not only through my hard work but through the hard work of everyone involved with the Flatiron School. The online full stack web development course was such a good decision, and I cannot recommend it enough if you know this is what you want to do and are willing to put in the work. 

I had an amazing time at Flatiron. If you are new to programming I would highly recommend this program for how conducive it is to learning. The environment on campus in NYC was amazing. Everybody is incredibly welcoming and for such an intense program the feel around campus is light and really allows you to have fun while learning. The curriculum is very clear and goes in an order that makes sense, going from super basic to advanced. While it is fast paced, you will not find another program that does a better job at catering to their students both on campus and post grad. The teachers do a solid job, some are better than others, but the student teachers are what really really helps. In the case of my cohort they were more than willing to stay late to help and even come in on weekends. By the end of the program your cohort, teachers and student teachers feel like extended family. 

Then, you are introduced to your career coach! My career coach was phenomenal and she was well supported by the rest of the career team. I would say that some of the biggest value Flatiron adds is the career coaching and connections they help you foster. 

Overall, A+ experience on campus at Flatiron and if you are willing to work hard and see the program through completely you will end up with a job :)

Good intro to data science principles and using python lists and dictionaries to organise data, perform anaylsis and create graphs.

I enjoyed the course but I have a major complaint and it concerns a typo. A typo in the code that flatiron school wrote. A typo in the code in the notebooks that flatiron school's code imports. A typo that will cause errors through no fault of the student. And occrrs over and over again.

In several of the trace creating functions that imported are saved in the graph and calculus notebooks and called repeatedly and especially over the later parts of the course the code mode = 'line' causes and error becuase it SHOULD be mode = 'lines' . that missing 's' causes the code spit out an error. That this is in the school provided code makes it very difficult for a student to catch as they would naturally presume that they are the one who made the mistake and having to correct it gets increasingly cumbersome and difficult once the code is imnported from the notebooks and you don't even see it in the lesson.

I tried to bring this to the attention of the flatiron scoohl but got nowhere I really hope they fix it at some point becuase its a hge barrier to learning.

Before I started the Flatiron Bootcamp Prep course, I was trying to learn front-end development through website such as Code Academy and Udemy. While those websties were somewhat helpful, they didn't challenge and test what I learned.

Flatiron's Bootcamp Prep course is designed around challenging the new skills you learned. Their test driven lab's in their IDE allows you to put your skills to the test and see if you actually grasps the skills. I am on my way to completing the prep course and have been admitted into their next cohort. I am excited to get started!

Firstly, what an incredible course prep right out of the box. I've never worked with ruby and this prep course has been so incredibly helpful. They give a great amount of info per page, you never feel really overwhelmed but know that everything you're learning is useful and pertinent, I mean they tell you what is important at your moment in the course and let you know that everything else that you don't get will be explained at a later date. It's got a great amount of labs to actually practice what you're learning, and what you learn will compound on earlier topics keeping everything fresh. I can't wait to finish, and will update as soon as I get through the course!

This is a great program! The instructors really work with everyone to make sure the information is well understood. The school also pairs a career coach with each student to make sure everyone finds a job. If you're unsure about the program, you can do the free bootcamp prep and see how all the lessons and labs work. I definitely recommend you try it out!

Super helpful. Had next to no coding experience and this provided a smooth and easy introduction. The reading portions allow you to learn at your own pace (and also have a lot of personality), whereas the labs let you get hands on instead of just copy and pasting as you watch someone else code. No boring tedious videos, thank god. The web pages themselves are designed well, simple, and easy on the eye, and the browser IDE is helpful for a beginner who doesn't know what a text editor or command terminal is. Also, if you get stuck you can raise a question and one of their delightful instructors will respond almost immediately with help. Would definitely (and have) recommended it, even if you have no interest in applying to the school. How can something this great even be free? What is that? 

As someone who has just been accepted onto Flatiron School's Immersive Software Engineering Course in London, I can't tell you what a valuable resource their online Bootcamp Prep Course was in preparing me for the interview process. After using a number of free online resources for a few months I came across the Bootcamp Prep course and immediately switched to it. The difference in my perception and understanding of what it takes to be a coder increased exponentially after this. The best way I can describe it is like having stabilizers removed after you've learned how to control a bike. The Bootcamp Prep course teaches you how to think and solve problems as well as teaching you key concepts, which really helps to solidify your learning, and prepares you for coding in the real world outside of a learning environment. The best part is it's completely free, can't recommend it highly enough!

I was pleasantly surprised at the level of instruction and information for the Bootcamp prep. Because online courses are pricey you really want to make sure you pick the right program. The Flatiron Bootcamp Prep is very well constructed. I have experience in web development but it still challenged me to think in different ways. I am currently a student of the Online Software Engineering Program and I am so glad I decided to do it. I am not disappointed at all and look forward to coding every day. 

This is a great introductory course of around 75 hours covering the basics of Python, giving you a flavor of what's to come with the full Data Science course offered at Flat Iron.  There are lots of challenging labs and the learning curve is quite steep, but the content is very clear and well-written - so it's a rewarding process to work through the material.  Highly recommended for anyone considering this as a career path, I'd say it's great value for money but that would be meaningless as - to top it all off, it's absolutely free!

I started the bootcamp prep after hearing great things about the Flatiron School. As a mom, and full-time professional, I have tried different tutorials and online courses with minimal traction. I felt that this program in particular has a cohesive curriculum and is challenging enough that you don't lose momentum or motivation. I highly recommend to anyone interested in coding or applying to a bootcamp. 

I started the data scient bootcamp prep in March or April of this year with the aim of taking the technical interview in early August. The bootcamp prep was really useful for me as a beginner to programming in general, but I did have some background in Algebra, Calculus and Statistics from college. The course did a really nice job of incorporating programming fundamentals with logic and math concepts. The course lacked a little bit of polish, as I found a few mispellings and typos in some of the lessons, but the core concepts and lessons learned were solid. I was accepted to the program and will be starting in October.

Simple, concise, and practical.  Applying to Flatiron School became a real goal and a success in great part, if not totally because I immersed myself in their Bootcamp Prep Course. Did I mention it's free!!! With the perfect combination of conceptual knowledge and practice exercises, grasping the basics of HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Ruby became a reality. If you're looking for a place to start, this is one of them. 

Having no Python experience and little coding history, I was nervous when I found out about the technical interview portion of the Immersive Data Science Bootcamp application process. With the help of the Bootcamp Prep Course, however, I had a boost of confidence and felt fully prepared for the interview. The material on Learn.co is comprehensive and interactive. Every concept introduced is accompanied by various examples, as well as a lab activity, which provides students the chance to apply these concepts. With the help of lab activities, I gained a better sense of topics I had mastered and of areas where there was still room for improvement. Whether planning on attending the Immersive Data Science Bootcamp or simply wanting an introduction to Python, I would highly recommend Flatiron School's Bootcamp Prep Course. 

I've had a great experience at Flatiron and am so glad I decided to take the online software engineering bootcamp.  The curriculm was excellent and was a good mix of lessons, labs and videos for me.  The curriculum did a good job of introducing concepts and easing you into labs while not holding your hand the entire time.  The instructors and coaches were always available and I never felt like I was alone in learning the material.  If I had a question or got stuck on something, I could use the Ask A Question feature and someone would respond within minutes.  I also scheduled screen sharing time with a technical coach to get more one-on-one assistance and attended oneline study groups, which were very helpful.  I would highly recommend Flatiron to anyone interested in programming.

The bootcamp prep course has been incredibly helpful on my journey to learn Javascript. The IDE is very intuitive, and the community is very helpful and responsive when called upon. Now, I am using the same tool to learn Ruby and am having a great time building my knowledge. The admissions process was also great- with both of my interviews being conducted by professional, helpful, and kind individuals!

I am new to programming and looked at different boot camps and I have decided to choose Flatiron School because I think they are the best scholl to help me learn coding.  I am excited to attend the online software engineering bootcamp this coming October ..What help me decide is the way the boot camp prep course is set up . It is laid out in a way that it guides you and if you need help it will be available for you . I am also impress with Angie from admission , She has helped a lot answering my questions and concerns .

Anway if you are new to programming and will like to have a school that can help you learn and has a good track record , You cant go wrong with Flatiron school

For someone with zero prior coding experience like myself, the free online Data Science bootcamp was a game changer. The content was challenging enough to get me to really push myself and work hard and learn a LOT by the end, but it wasn't as intimidating as to discourage me and make me give up at any point. I like how each new lab built on the previous one and things got more complicated very gradually and logically, so I never felt lost or frustrated during the process. The data and examples that were provided for each new exercise/concept were pretty intuitive and it wasn't until the very last few labs that things got very challenging and I found myself having to re-read and re-do each step multiple times before it really stuck.  I think in addition to the great content of the prep course, someone with no prior Python/Data Science experience can use the Online Bootcamp to learn whether coding and Data Science is really something that fits their personality and that they might like to commit themselves to learning more and pursuing a career in the field. 

The admissions process was very seamless as well since everyone from Flatiron was very responsive, professional and helpful. You can really get a sense for how committed everyone in the community is to setting you up for success and making sure that their school/community is the right fit for you personally. I really appreciate all the individual help and attention that I got during the admissions process, which made me feel welcomed and excited to join Flatiron and embark on an exciting journey of intensive learning and making many new friends with similar interests and career goals!

They assign you a coach at the end of the program to help you find a good job.

I'm loving my new job and couldn't be happier.
