I clearly see that technology is revamping almost every aspect of finance in a major way, so I joined the Berkeley Fintech Boot Camp to retool myself for the present and future.
I'm halfway through the program now and it has exceeded my expectations! Within 7 weeks, I was already able to automate a time-consuming piece of my quarterly work to update a set of portfolio tracking spreadsheets. In machine learning, the brilliant scientific developments of neurology and math are available at my fingertips with a dozen lines of code, it's that simple! And I'm looking forward to the blockchain section next.
The projects are my favorate part. We students get to define projects, so I chose what is highly relevant to my actual work. It's very empowering to be able to make happen what I used to rely on others to help with and be able to continuously improve it. Besides, I can communicate effectively with the tech team as now I speak their language and understand their processes. The potential of my domain experience can be unleashed with the hands-on skills in Fintech.
The boot camp provides ample support round the clock, between instructor office hours, TA office hours, Learning Assistants online and your dedicated tutor. It's very luxurious :) Instructors, TAs and tutors all have hands-on expertise in Fintech and can make the connection between the curriculum and real life use cases.
The Boot Camp is quite intense in the first couple of months, so one does need to be able to commit sufficient time just to keep up. I think 30 hours per week is the least it takes. The program does a great job building out the systematic framework for the entire fintech space, and you advance fast! Then you can decide which area is your point of interest and can delve deeper there afterwards.
Hope this helps!

- The instructor has not prepared any slides and is unaware of the course / slides content coming up in the class. This makes a horrible impression of the course and creates frustration amongst all students. - For each activity / homework - he is not aware of the content (it seems we are all reading it together) - The instructor plainly reads through the slides while presenting. There is no valuable time for learning the best practices. And if the slide is too much to absorb, he would skip. - The assignments are old. The course is supposed to be online - but all assignments are meant for in person work. It leaves students to be frustrated. There are no clear instructions on what to do and how to do. As the instructor is unaware himself, we end up wasting time and start reading it together. - This is not a Berkeley standard course. A lot of students have similar frustrations and concerns and they have been expressed on the Slack channel as well as Bootcamp surveys. I am not sure if Berkeley people have access to any of it. - There is no transparency and management in the system. There is no way to send feedback to Berkeley authorities through the Bootcamp and thus many students are not even sure what to do next. Trust me, a lot of students want to drop out and we have openly expressed it.
The management, the school (extension, not UCB), third party organization offering the course is all here to rip off the money. Its a scam.Overall1.0Curriculum1.0Job support1.0Instructors1.0Boot Camp Team of Berkeley Boot Camps

Thank you for your feedback, AB. We regret to hear you are unsatisfied with your boot camp experience.
From your review, we understand that you are not satisfied with the instructional support you have received. Our program has an intensive, multi-part vetting process for instructors, requiring a minimum of three years' experience as an active practitioner in the tech industry — however, we understand that not all teaching styles resonate with all students. In order to ensure quality instruction, we measure instructor success based on participant feedback, video audits of their teaching, and student engagement.
While our curriculum is regularly updated based on market demand, we want individuals to graduate with the necessary skills to quickly learn new technologies and skills on their own, especially as the technical job market is always changing. Our team is continually updating our course material and instructional support to ensure individuals have the best learning experience possible, so we truly appreciate your input. Your cohort was delivered via our virtual classroom due to COVID-19, for the health and safety of students. We are confident that our course can be delivered successfully through this online format, but we understand that this required some initial adjustments and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We sincerely care about all our students and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further to provide any additional support you may need at this time. If you would like, please contact us directly at (510) 306-1218. We wish you all the success moving forward! -

It was our responsibility to obtain the necessary supplies in order to be fully equipped during the war( coding challenges). I had noticed one thing, maybe others didn't. We had some brilliant minds that they were really sharp when they had to solve a coding problem but most of them they had lack of creativity (97.3 per cent). The system unfortunately chooses really good coders instead of evaluating other aspects of someone's skills. The rainbow has seven colors and I had noticed only one color during the class: The blue color. It seems beautiful to the sky but without the other 6 is insignificant. I am suggesting to include some other lessons too because as I explained the rainbow has 7 colors not only 1. I also want to see how the genius people that they claim to be can solve this scientific problem with the corona virus. They will break into pieces because they have obtained only one level of thinking and of course they can not solve this issue. We need smart people in this country. We do not need a vehicle without wheels and lights. The Tutors did the best to support us but some students because they paid so much money for the tuition they have started complaining about the Tutors. I was a student at the following calendar year + month: September 2018 - February 2019. Start expanding your horizons instead of being limited to yourself. With this way you gonna see real results and you won't see any results by claiming about something that you re not(smart). One advice: If someone has a little bit of experience with coding, I would highly recommend him-her to go to Berkeley. Otherwise, I would say forget it.Overall3.0Curriculum2.0Job support1.0Instructors4.0Boot Camp Team of Berkeley Boot Camps

I didn't have any programming knowledge and doing this boot camp instilled was a great first step for me in building a new career in data. What the program does exceptionally well in is the career support after the program ends. I dedicated a lot of my time attending career coaching sessions, technical mock interviews, and applying the advice and guidance the career coaches gave me and I managed to land a data analyst role at a start-up in three months. What I found the most difficult for me in the interview process for these companies is definitely the technical interview and the program definitely assisted me with that.

Underwhelmed - Data Analytics Boot Camp

An opening disclaimer: UC Berkeley Extension licenses this boot camp from an outside company. So don’t be swayed by the UC Berkeley name re: quality of education. This same curriculum is also used by the University of Denver, Rutgers, and who knows how many other schools. This review is also specifically for the Data Analytics and Visualization boot camp. Their other courses might be better, but I can’t speak to that.
Me:
I had about 4 years experience as a data analyst before starting the class. I was already fairly proficient in Excel and SQL before signing up. I hoped to level up my skillset. My goals were getting more familiar with Python / Pandas (which I’d previously dabbled in), learning best practices around data visualization, and getting some meaningful exposure to ML concepts. I only really accomplished the first.
Instructors:
Julien, Sufyan, and Ahmed were all very helpful and were generally knowledgeable about the material at hand (not always, but no one is an expert at everything). Unfortunately, none of them stayed with Trilogy past my cohort (all of them found better jobs elsewhere). Hopefully other instructors are equally strong. Unfortunately they had some really silly curriculum to work with (see below).
Classmates:
I enjoyed the company of (most of) the other students. I still text with and see them occasionally, and I understand some others see each other pretty regularly. I was a little disappointed with the composition. It was mostly younger folks who were looking to transition into tech/data, rather than more established tech/data professionals looking to level up. The latter group had decent outcomes, the former (much larger) group seems to be struggling 4 months after the class ended (but I haven't done a comprehensive roll call, this is just from LinkedIn monitoring and chatting with friends).
Career services:
Less than useless. All of the UCB Extension boot camps (web dev, full stack, and analytics) are given the same general materials and guidelines, so everyone is kind of corralled down the same path. I attended two video session, scanned their materials, and did a couple resume activities. Maybe helpful for someone fresh out of college, but the material was mind-boggling basic for anyone with any exposure to the white collar employment. Their resume reviewer’s revisions would have made my resume / LinkedIn profile dramatically worse. I’d look like any other “professional” boot camp schmuck with no personality or soul. Basically another sheep blending in with the herd. No thanks.
Curriculum:
Whew boy. The curriculum is a very, very mixed bag. In short, some really great stuff for entry to mid level analytics, some crap that’s indefensibly useless for most data professionals, and too much breadth with not enough depth.
Of the roughly 6 months I was in the program, the first 2.5 months were great for someone looking to break into data (albeit a lot of review for me). Excel and SQL are foundational skills, and exposure to python is a great skill to have.
Then there’s a couple weeks of classes related to HTML/CSS and web scraping. These shouldn’t be top of mind in industry, but I’m glad I learned them. They open up some interesting data sets that I otherwise couldn’t access, which I can deploy for some interesting side projects.
Then there’s a month plus where the class goes off the rails, careening into JavaScript and in particular D3.js. I have a special rant reserved for this later on.
Then the last 2 months of class are a mixed bag. There’s some good information in there (a couple weeks on basic Tableau), a few VERY short sessions on R, then basically a 2 week flyby of advanced Machine-Learning and Big Data so cursory as to be basically useless.
Notice what’s missing here. No meaningful math. No meaningful stats. No meaningful discussion of experimental design and clean data (both technically and just conceptually) best practices. Without these basic skillsets I would NEVER hire someone on my team.
Also notice what’s included. We have both Industry Data 101 tools and concepts (basically beginner Excel) and advanced topics like machine learning. No class should try to cover that much ground in so little time. If someone’s resume hits my desk and their only experience is a Boot Camp Certificate and they claim to know Excel, VBA, Python, SQL, HTML, CSS, MongoDB, JavaScript, D3.js, R, Tableau, SKSci, Hadoop, Spark, and TensorFlow, I am going to chuckle and toss their resume. Those are vastly different technologies, many of which don’t build on or necessarily complement each other, and there’s no way you have a meaningful background in most of them after a few months.
After taking the course, I’m not really sure who it was designed for. It almost seems like a mish-mash of parts from 3 disparate courses:
1.) Basic intro to data analysis and tools.
2.) Front-end development.
3.) Introductory data science for dummies.
The curriculum actually does a pretty good job of (1). After the first couple months, you should have some talking points for an entry-level level analytics gig (maybe associate level if you have a few years relevant experience). But no one hiring entry-level data analysts will expect those same hires to also do machine learning. No one coming out of this class will be remotely qualified for Data Science or ML Engineer jobs unless they already had a quantitative Ph.D or significant substantive technical work experience. Which makes the value of (3) above questionable.
And (2)’s inclusion is just silly. I wasn’t familiar with JavaScript and D3.js beforehand, it’s because they have really limited utility for data analysts. They’re fundamentally web technologies best reserved for front-end data visualization specialists, web developers, or very, very rare edge cases. It makes me wonder if Trilogy just tacked them on because they wanted to reduce their work and recycle material from their Front-end and UI/UX Bootcamps.
D3.js might allow me to work on some interesting pet projects with non-secure data. But incorporating it into a broad intro course for analytics professionals in industry is silly. Most companies will have tools which abstract away the technical aspects of D3.js for their analysts, or it’ll be handled by a team whose job is specifically dealing with web data visualization. Teaching D3.js to an aspiring data analyst is like teaching an aspiring quarterback the nuances of playing wide receiver. Yes, there’s a relationship between the two roles, but most quarterbacks are better served practicing going through their reads and throwing mechanics than catching deep passes or running routes.
Conclusion:
Full disclosure, I did get a job at a large name brand tech company about 3 months into the program. Learning and practicing python from the stronger, early portion of the class had some influence on that. But that skill was more icing on the cake of a strong internal referral, relevant work history, domain experience, and great references. I was also lucky enough to: (1) convince my employer to pay for half of it, (2) already be working as an analytics professional, so I can write it off as an educational expense, and (3) comfortably cover the cost even if 1 and 2 were not true. That is not true of the vast majority of people who took this course, and I suspect most of them feel like they wasted $11,000.

Thank you for your review, David. As you noted, UC Berkeley Extension has partnered with Trilogy Education Services (TES) to offer the Berkeley Data Analytics Boot Camp. UC Berkeley Extension is deeply involved in the curriculum and outcomes of each of our classes, routinely meeting in conjunction with TES to monitor the learning experience and performance. Our curriculum is strategically engineered using extensive market and employer research on the most in-demand skills for the industry, and we are constantly making optimizations to the course material as the industry evolves. Both Berkeley and TES are completely dedicated to transforming individuals' lives.
We're happy to hear you found our instructional team to be helpful and knowledgeable! While we wish that all of our instructors could teach multiple cohorts throughout the year, as we only hire individuals who are active practitioners in the industry, their full-time career commitments can make this difficult. While your particular instructor may not be teaching the current class, we have an intensive vetting process for our instructors, requiring a minimum of three years of professional experience in the industry. UC Berkeley Extension vets every instructor that teaches in our boot camp programs, with fewer than 2.5% of all screened candidates selected.
It is great that you enjoyed the company of your classmates and made lasting connections. But, we understand you may have preferred more experienced classmates. While our program recommends two years of related experience, it is designed to help individuals with varying levels of proficiency. It's our mission to help as many hard-working, aspiring data analysts' as we can and we commend all those who truly commit to the course and to launching their careers — regardless of their prior knowledge or professional backgrounds. We do have a three-part admissions screening process to make sure that those who commit to this course will be set up for success.
We regret that our career services did not live up to your expectations. While we do not secure direct employment for our students, we empower them the best we can with the necessary tools and support for entering the job market. Like you mentioned, we do provide several support services including technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, online Tech Talk panels, and one-on-one meetings with the Career Director. Our career services curriculum is designed and evaluated based on local demands and the input of local employers, to ensure our students are best positioning themselves during the application and interview process.
We understand that you would have liked to spend more time covering fundamental mathematics and experimental design on clean data, and less time on front-end web visualization. As this program is centered around both data analysis and visualization, we do dedicate time to JavaScript (D3.js, Leaflet.js) as our research has found that these skills make our students more well-rounded and competitive. Our course is designed to provide students with the skills and abilities to quickly learn new concepts and tools on their own (as the technical job market is always changing). We believe this methodology, and covering a wide range of topics at a macro level, helps individuals learn how to problem-solve and self-teach — keys skills in the data industry. We truly appreciate your feedback as our curriculum is frequently updated to ensure that it is aligned with the latest market needs.
We're always looking for new ways to expand our services to best serve the needs of our students, so we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further. If you would like, please reach out to us directly at (510) 306-1218. -

You learn the basics of coding as quick as a flash. That said, enter Professor David Hallinan.
One in a million? More like one a googolplex. Armed with a plethora of knowledge, he is the compass that guides you through the dark. Taking concepts that were as clear as mud and slaying the confusion. He can break down complex ideas into easily digestible tidbits (a rarity in the tech world nowadays). David truly cares about his students and goes the extra mile to give them additional time and learning material. For you 90's kids- he's all that plus a bag of chips.Sometimes, concepts in coding... like algorithms... can be as dry as a bone. This is where Davids charisma kicks in. He's got an entertaining side. You'll just have to take the course and see for your self.
And, for a proper full course review, I can't forget my student success manager, Shani. She's was also pivotal in helping me succeed with tutoring and answering every question I had and my career coach, Kim Black. Together, these people set all the other courses, schools, and curriculums apart.
To err is human; to edit, divine. Take this class, it'll change your mind.

This program was, quite honestly, way more than what I was expecting. And that's a good thing. The material was really comprehensive and well presented. The curriculum for this program is adjusted to reflect what technical skills are currently sought in the job market.
To get the most out of this program you should basically clear your schedule and be prepared to put in a lot of after class time(80+ hours a week).
Although many of the concepts can seem daunting and complex, the instructor, David Hallinan, presented everything in a really relateable and fun way. David is, hands down the best CS instructor I have ever had. The cohort that I was in had a blast every day thanks to David's teaching style.
Along with the teacher our cohort had 2 TAs who were incredibly helpful and were always willing to take whatever amount of time was necessary to help us find solutions to our problems.

Pros: Awesome and knowledgeable instructor; a LOT is covered so you are constantly learning; you learn data science specific tools, which wouldn't be covered in a fullstack engineering course.
Cons: Perhpas too much is covered and it becomes overwhelming and difficult to explore any particular tool in depth; the cost - it really should be about half of what I paid ($10k); although you *can* take this class while working full time, it's not super reasonable since you spend every waking hour outside of work doing classwork; there is not enough support - office hours were inconveniently scheduled and the one TA we had who was actually helpful had to stop coming because of work obligations a couple months before the class ended; career services is completely useless because it's not tailored for this particular kind of work, but is offered to all UCB extension classes (so, if you're already a working adult who knows how non-technical interviews work, their "advice" is not new).
In the end, I learned a tertiary amount of information about a lot of different languages and tools, but not enough to work in the industry. I'm planning on attending Hackbright full time over the summer so I can actually get a job because 1) I am now convinced it is super important to just completely immerse yourself in this to learn quickly and well, 2) they have a tuition program that is dependent on your employment in the field, 3) they have a much better support system - you are paired with a mentor, as well as having a regular check-in with an instructor who isn't your own to ensure you're comprehending the material, 4) the program itself seems much more structured and sensical, and 5) really one of the most important things: they want you to find the *right* job, not just "a job."
So, if you're a woman reading this, please look into Hackbright. I really wish someone would've offered me that advice.

Hi Nicki, we first want to congratulate you on your dedication to this rigorous program! Thank you for taking the time to share your student experience with us, as we consider each review an opportunity for improvement. We know this is an immersive course and like you mentioned, it is fast-paced and time-intensive, requiring hours of supplemental work and studying outside of the classroom.
Our program prides itself on teaching students how to learn, providing a strong foundational skillset to be able to master additional data concepts and tools post-graduation. While we do cover a wide variety of topics at a high level, this foundation of knowledge allows individuals to learn how to problem-solve and self-teach, a key skill needed in a data analyst's career. We do find that as the course progresses, students become more and more confident in the knowledge they have learned and feel empowered to apply their skills in the professional world after the program. However, we are constantly working on improving our curriculum to ensure students are successfully able to learn the most valuable and in-demand technologies.
It is our goal to support students throughout the entire boot camp journey through in-class assistance, office hours, tutoring sessions, and other channels like Slack, phone, and email, but we regret that you felt that the support you received was not what you needed, particularly following the departure of your TA. Your Career Director did provide your cohort an in-depth job search workshop focused on data roles following graduation, as well as an Employer Competitive Resources sheet. Did you find these to be helpful? We understand you would have preferred a more tailored career services experience, and while we do customize our Career Services by programs, we sincerely appreciate this feedback as it helps us improve and ensure we are meeting our students' needs. We strive to set clear expectations and provide individualized support through technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, and more, but we are continually refining our career services to best help students prepare for the job search.
The student experience does not end upon graduation, as it is our goal for all students to leave the program feeling confident in their new skills and prepared for success in the job search. We would love the opportunity to speak with you directly to learn how else we can support you at this time, whether through additional learning materials or career support. Please reach out to me at (510) 306-1218. We wish you the best of luck as you move forward in your endeavors! -

Overall, this course was an incredible value for me. Our instructor, a veteran in the industry, brought a lot of real world experience to the class while teaching us while both of our class's TA's made the learning process enjoyable and easy.
I walked away from the course with a well rounded skill set in front-end and back-end technologies along with a renewed confidence to continue my learning on my own.
The curriculum is very current and appears to evolve class to class as new technologies appear, so I felt that what we were leaning was the most applicable at the time.
My only critique would be the career services. Many of the required lectures and 1 on 1 times occured during weekday business hours which conflicted with the part-time 12 week program's target audience that works full-time during the week. I would have liked more flexibility in the schedule. In addition, it wasn't fully clear what services we would receive beyond general guidance on resume building, which I did not need.
To summarize, if you are on the fence about taking one of these courses, know that this was a great value to me and exceeded my expectations.

Thank you so much for your review, Joe! Congratulations on graduating, we applaud all of the hard work you put into learning these valuable skills. It made our day to hear that you found the curriculum well-rounded and competitive with today's latest technologies, and that you enjoyed your instructor, TAs, and the program as a whole.
We understand that you would have preferred more scheduling flexibility for some aspects of our career services, and we sincerely appreciate this feedback as it helps us to improve and ensure that we are meeting our students' needs. We strive to set clear expectations and provide individualized support through technical interview training, portfolio reviews, resume/social media profile support, and more, but we are also constantly refining our career services to best help students prepare for the job search.
The student experience does not end upon graduation, however, so we look forward to continuing to assist you as you work 1:1 with your Career Director. We would also welcome the opportunity to provide you with any additional career support you might need, so please reach out directly at (510) 306-1218 if you would like to discuss this further. From day one our instructor, David Hallinan, put my mind at ease. His ability to relate to the students, to break down complex code into relatable terms, and his eagerness to help us succeed made coming to class every day enjoyable. David was consistently supportive and very giving of his time, and you could tell he genuinely cared about our successes. Highly recommend this course and David as your instructor!

And now after 12 very intensive weeks, I can write code and build these amazing apps. We were told that we have to put about 40 hours beside the class. First I thought that's not possible but I really put this time into studying and doing homework! In this 12 weeks, you get less sleep, don't have a social life anymore but you will develop valuable skills! The class was every day from 10am-2.30pm, for me it was a perfect time because as a mom I still could take care of my kids and in the evening doing my homework. I mean not every day was easy and not every day I understood everything, but we had really a great instructor David Hallinan. There was always a lot of help from the instructor David and the TAs Peter and Alex. I really enjoyed every day of the Bootcamp!

Thank you, Maggie! As you discovered, it takes hours of additional studying and practice outside of the classroom to successfully immerse oneself in the topics covered each week, so we appreciate you pointing that out. You did a great job at balancing your schedule, and this is great feedback to share with prospective students.
It makes us incredibly proud to hear our team was committed to providing you with the help and guidance you needed throughout the program. We also think Peter, Alex, and David are pretty amazing! Congratulations on completing the program, we applaud all of your hard work. Best of luck in your future endeavors! -

I couldn't imagine me writing more than a few lines a code before I started. I also heard it was very challenging going into it and it actually was. BUT, now that I'm down with the program, I've written easily hundreds of lines of code and even though it was more challenging than I expected, I'm glad I went through it.
Not only did I gain valuable professional skills, but, 1. I met great people, 2. Even when things got tough, I pushed myself on a regular basis--but, I wasn't alone, there was plenty from peers, TAs and from David(teacher) and we all came out of it better because of it 3. I now have a great portfolio I can showcase to other professionals and prospective employers.
Special shout out to David Hallinan for his tremendous support, in-depth knowledge of the material, excellent teaching skills and humor. Kept us engaged all the time. Funny guy.

The class was great and I'm very happy I went with this program. My teach David Hallinan was amazing! He knew exactly what he was doing and taught the class well. Not to mention just an easy going, fun person. He was very helpful through the class and if anyone didn't understand something during lectures he was explain futher until it was understood. David, along with the TA's would stay and extra 30 mins after class to help with anything any student had questions with. The support was better then I imanged and would defintely recommend doing the 12-week full-time program with David if you have then chance!

After this three months, I have learned so much and grown a lot. Especially I had a great time with our instructor David! He won't let you feel it is a boring class, you can talk to him with anything you like. Sometimes there are some jokes around the class as well, which make you won't be too tired after few activites. Very important thing is, David is a supper patient and professional guy. So, don't worried about asking questions during the class!
Base on the full time student in Berkeley, everyone can tell the classes go very fast and every day will have new things to learn. It is very intense! However, you can ask for tutors if you think you are kind of behind! Or if you are not ready for the pressure, you should take part time instead. By the way, I cannot say the job assistance will be supper helpful, but part of them was very professional.
To sum up, I really enjoyed it even the classes were very intense! I guess I will miss everything there!

Nada. Zilch. Other than fooling around with some page builders, I had no experience with html, CSS, etc. I ended up graduating with nearly all A's on my assignments and projects, not because I am some coding prodigy who discovered his calling. It was due to the support of the instructor David Hallinan, the TAs John and Peter, and the administrator Shani who more than once talked me down from the ledge when I wanted to quit. They brought out the best in me and found something I didn't know I had- the ability to not just survive but excel in a completely foreign world to me. I know my success now depends entirely on how I apply myself and keep my skills sharp, but the team gave me what I signed up for and so much more. Best investment I've ever made, especially in myself, and one of the most enjoyable 3 month experiences I have ever had. It was difficult, no doubt, but fun, for sure. If you avail yourself to all of the resources and study like crazy, you will succeed. David keeps the class moving, the vibe super chill and fun, but definitely, serious and on topic. David has a great sense of humor, doesn't take anything too seriously, other than your progress and order in the class. It is very professional yet casual. The pace is very quick but if you prepare yourself and study like a lunatic, you will graduate. I would do it again and would highly recommend this course and especially David. True pro, good vibes, no fooling around, rewarding experience I many many ways. I also must thank Jules Sanders for all of her guidance on prepping for interviews and building our name and product. She truly cares about our success and is very straightforward and encouraging and her advice about our resumes and selling ourselves to employers is solid gold. She really cares about our futures and is so good at what she does!Overall5.0Curriculum5.0Job support5.0Instructors5.0Rosa Tadeo of Berkeley Boot Camps

My instructor was amazing and really helped me gain greater depth in my understanding of Front-End and Back-End technologies, and guided me through my projects and making sure I was writing quality code.
I do have to mention that everyone in my cohort joined the Bootcamp for different reasons - some to get a new job, some just curious, and some entrepreneurs who wanted to communicate with their developers more effectively.
In my experience, the students who spent a good amount of time familiarizing themselves with concepts like HTML, CSS and Javascript before the beginning the starting day were able to ask more difficult questions and attain more of a mastery over the concepts with their instructors guiding them.
In addition, my career coach (Sam Dias) was amazing at making sure I didn't lose steam on the job search and give-up. My bi-weekly coaching calls held me accountable to someone, and with her guidance, I was able to learn more about the job search in the tech industry.
I would like to mention though, that to me, coaching me in the skill of job-hunting/interviewing was way more of an asset than just 'getting you that first job' (although UCB Extension played a huge role in that as well!).
I can now confidently say that in addition to picking up technologies quickly, I can also apply for a job and go through the hiring process with a sense of understanding of what happens behind the scenes and how to best optimize that process.
Once again, this program would definitely benefit someone who has made their mind up to become a developer.
