Avocademy

Avocademy UX/UI Foundations is a great course! I love that you can apply what you are learning as you go, and that at the end you have a solid project. You learn the design process such as doing research, ideation, design, and prototype. You have access to one-on-one mentor meetings and feel led throughout the learning process. The mentors are amazing, and you can see that they are there to encourage you as you complete the course.

I come from a design background and I found Avocademy through Tiktok and immediately was interested in joining. First of all, you can't beat the price compared to other bootcamps. They have great articles and videos explaining the entire UX process. The 1on1 mentorship is unmatched. The fact that they are other ux/product designers in the field looking at your work while working through the program is great. You are learning these skills while also connecting and networking with other students. I would 100% recommend this to others who are wanting to break into the UX tech space. Avocademy was one of the best decisions I've made this year. I can tell they really care about all the student's success. Sometimes receiving the mentor feedback can take a while but that's all part of the process. I could not have picked a better bootcamp experience! The curriculum was divided into east to understand videos and assignments. The mentors were so helpful and patient, especially since I had zero experience or background in the design/ tech field. Learning alongside other aspiring UX/UI designers was such a great experience at Avocademy. One thing I must say is it wasn't easy, you have to dedicate a lot of personal time doing client projects. They are face-paced and sometimes can be a bit stressful. However, I don't regret doing it because the outcome led to success for me. Took me a few months to get the job which was OKAY! the mentors were always there for me to give me advice and cheer me through this difficult phase. The avo-community is definitely the best thing here, you meet a lot of interesting people coming from all kinds of backgrounds. My favorite part of CJ was the daily meet-up calls, it was always exciting to receive advice from other people who are also in the application/interviewing phase process. My advice in order to succeed in this program is to keep on talking to everyone as much as possible, if you are stuck reach out to the staff or students everyone is super friendly, and have fun! :) Read less

Avocademy's Career Jumpstart was a much needed experience for me entering the tech designer world. I was able to make connections and build my network, grow my skills as a designer, and experience what it was like to design for real clients. I joined Avocademy's Career Jumpstart in June 2022, started applying to jobs in August 2022, and got a job in October 2022. I completed 3 client projects that were added to my portfolio and got so many resources and support on my job hunt. I'm not sure how Maca does it but she develops a connection with all of her students and is always available to provide feedback and support. The Career Coaches and Mentors are all amazing. Let me start by saying how incredibly supportive and kind everyone at Avocademy is. Maca, the founder, has created an awesome culture and is personally invested in the success of every student. From starting the bootcamp to the point of finding a job (with a 30k salary increase) took me 10 months. I wasn't in a hurry and worked at my own pace. Getting the bootcamp done in two months while working full-time was too much for me, but other people might be able to do it. The course content is really thorough and great. The only thing that challenged me is that there are parts in the course where you're supposed to take to the Internet to teach yourself certain things, but the directions at the time didn't explicitly say that and I was too dumb to figure it out lol. Overall though, I am career changing from running a horse barn to being a UX designer at a nationally recognized company within a year and making a great salary. I get to work from home and I have a big network of awesome and supportive people to draw from as I continue in my career and I couldn't be happier with the decision I made to join Avocademy! I thank CJ and the team for creating such an incredible program and am SO grateful to Tikok for leading me to Avocademy. I have met such wonderful folks that have truly pushed me and I can now say I am a full-time, hired, UX Designer in the field.  CJ has given me the opportunity to work with various people from different backgrounds, provided me with experience with real client projects, and helped me fine-tune my user experience skills. It was hard work but if you're willing to be consistent and disciplined, this program is for you. 
 
 Many have asked if they can do this while working full time and I will say, this is possible!!!!! I was exhausted most days but knew this was all worth it and I was tired of not seeing my fullest potential. I attended CJ daily calls, which provided crucial information to connect with employers and tricks to perfect my interviewing style. I learned so much and it better prepared me for the job application phase. Mentors, career coaches, and other professionals were easy to contact, and it was easy to book appointments with mentors should I have any clarifying questions about my portfolio and work. I also was also fond of the overview videos for each deliverable we may need additional guidance on. If you start something from scratch so by definition you won't have prior experience. Neither have I when I started Avocademy BootCamp 1 year ago. It appeared to be the right decision because Avocademy had everything I needed to succeed. From foundation course to working on a real project and full job search assistance. Super cheap course btw and at your own pace. The best $2k I've ever invested in my life and my background is the financial advisor. The ROI on $2k is 5500% in 1 year because I landed a $112k/year job. Read less

I reviewed countless UX Bootcamps, but Avocademy continued to stand out to me. It had everything I decided I was looking for after doing research on what I would need/want in a Bootcamp AND it was affordable. I got an email about a graduate zoom call where Avocademy graduates shared their experience from day one to landing a job as a UX Designer. This call made me want to sign up immediately. Hearing their stories, hearing them talk about feeling that inevitable imposter syndrome and that it was normal and ok, reassured me that I, too, could do this. I just needed to START and get to work. So I did. 

The course provides written and video content and lots of examples along the way, which was very helpful for a visual learner like myself. This course is so supportive in the way it is written; reminding you are doing a good job, reminding you to take care of yourself, etc. As a neurodivergent mom of 3 transitioning from being a SAHM and entrepreneur, those little details helped me a LOT. The project seems huge and overwhelming at first, but they do an excellent job of breaking it down into bite size pieces and reminding you to just focus on that one step in front of you. The mentorship they provide is amazing too, the mentors are great at what they do and always offering helpful tips and ideas, and the option to meet virtually with a mentor is available as often as you need.

There were times when I grew impatient, waiting for mentors to review my work and worrying I wouldn't meet my deadlines for each phase, but it all worked out in the end. Is this a perfect course? No, but it's ever-evolving and they are very transparent about that, which I appreciate. They are always always looking for ways to improve their students experience and that's a sign of the type of environment you want to be in. 

The learning environment was exactly what I needed and knowing that I had the option to join Career Jumpstart to further my education and experience with support in my job search - well, I absolutely made the right decision in choosing Avocademy.  Read less

If you're looking to get into UX/UI Design, this is the course to take! It's reasonably priced and you learn so much. I feel so confident about my skills from taking this course and I felt so supported by the mentor team at Avocademy. It does move really fast so you have to be ready to put in the time, but it's so worth it. Read less

It has been an amazing and wonderful experience from start to finish, all the mentors are super helpful and responsive and the course set up is easy to follow. I took Avocademy‘s UXUI foundations course and immediately enrolled into Career Jumpstart. The founders Maca and Alex are highly involved and supportive along with all of the mentors. I decided to continue with Avocademy because of their unlimited mentorship and affordability. The job tracking, resume and portfolio reviews, mock interviews, interview debriefs, design challenge help and salary negation offered are so valuable. I worked in law as a paralegal, and the job wasn't for me. I saw an add for Avocademy on IG, and it looked really interesting. I'm so glad that they did a great job designing the add, because it's been a great experience. They do a wonderful job giving you a foundation to build from. They also show you how to learn more, which is so important. Their "Career Jumpstart" program is literally why I have a job as a UX designer. I couldn't be more grateful or appreciative. I joined Career Jumpstart and was able to land a job 6 weeks after I started applying all thanks to Avocademy. In the past, I had been trying to find a job for a year and wasn't successful. I didn't fully understand what it takes to become a competitive candidate and land a job. Thanks to this program, I could create a good resume and portfolio. The mentors are great, they are designers and have been in the field for a while, so they give you great and actionable advice.
