I recently completed my UX/UI Design Foundation course at Avocademy. I want to share my great experience with anyone interested in furthering their career in this field. First of all, it is affordable. Secondly, I loved the hands-on and self-pacing learning experience. The course material is well-selected, and mentors are always there to give us timely and valuable feedback. While gaining UX design knowledge, I improved my time management and self-discipline skills tremendously. I recently finished Avocademy's UX/UI Foundations Design bootcamp, and I have to say it was an incredibly rewarding experience. The program was really comprehensive, challenging in a good way, and engaging.
What I really liked about Avocademy was how easy it was to navigate through the courses and how structured each module was. They had a ton of projects and exercises throughout the course. For some of the modules, there was a lot of reading which made some assigmenets feel super long but if you can get past that, the rest of the program, especially the UI Design modules and assignments were more fun and exciting in my opinion.
One of the things that helped me the most in this program was being able to have 1 on 1 sessions with the amazing mentors of Avocademy. I got a lot of valuable feedback and advice which helped me optimize my design solutions and refine my aesthetic as a UX Designer.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend Avocademy to anyone looking for a career change into UX/UI Design. -

I've had a great experience with Avocademy so far and I think its a great value for money. I completed the foundations course in December and I really struggled to stay on task because of outside work and complications in my personal life and I really appreciated the way they continued to reach out and work with me on a timeline to make sure I got through the material. The course is full of great information and resources but my favorite thing has been the quality mentor feedback and the access to mentorship in general. The slack channel has also been very helpful and adds to a sense of community which is really great for an online course. Would definitely recommend this course! -

If you guys are thinking about taking up a UX/UI Bootcamp, then I highly recommend Avocademy! I literally came from a different background and had no design experience whatsoever, but Avocademy helped me pick up all the needed skills to get started. They make everything so easy to understand! Not only that, they go above and beyond to help the students out. The only regret I have is not taking this bootcamp sooner lol -

I completed both the UX/UI Foundations and the Career Jumpstart programs, as I wanted to transition into UX design from my previous career. Both were excellent programs at an affordable price relative to competitor bootcamps (which is why I went with Avocademy in the first place), with a great community of fellow students. Foundations gave me a solid introduction into UX design at a self-paced timeline with structure, and Career Jumpstart allowed me to work on real client projects and land a job in the fintech industry two months after I began job hunting. I can't thank the Avocademy founders and mentors enough for their guidance in this career transition, and I'd recommend them a thousand times over for anyone considering UX design!

This program is work ! However it is so worth it if you’re receptive to feedback and do what’s required. I loved having the opportunity to work on real projects with a manager and team of designers. Honestly that’s the easiest part. The job search was long and hard. It can become tedious and frustrating especially in this market. While it’s great to have a network of people going through the same thing as you and get inspiration from them, on the inverse you’ll want to use discernment and take advice from working professionals, not amateurs like you. It can mess with your head.
Pros: program covers every step of the job process, you don’t feel lost or alone
Cons: group projects can be stressful as maybe all group members haven’t followed the content and can slow you down( however this can happen in real world so good practice). Sometimes mentors can provide conflicting information however if you reach out to the program they are quick to correct it.
All in all I’m very happy with my experience and grateful to be entering this industry. -

Starting Avocademy was an incredible decision when it came to transitioning into the UX/UI field. You have the ongoing support to help get you through the program. Foundations is thorough and explains the fundamentals of UX/UI design. You get to work on your own project which you can add to your portfolio. I loved it so much, I am currently enrolled in their Career Jumpstart program. Maca, the creator of Avocademy, is very knowledgeable in what she does, and is great support, as well as her mentors. I was lucky enough to work with her on one of the projects and it was truly a great experience. I don’t think any other program compares to the authentic, supportive engagement and intuitive education that Avocademy brings to the table. -

I completed the UX/UI Foundations and Career Jumpstart programs with Avocademy. After deciding to pursue UX Design as a new career, I did a lot of research on the many bootcamps available online. I needed a program that I could complete while working full-time, and I wasn't willing to pay the high prices of some other bootcamps. After speaking with the founder of Avocademy one on one, I felt this one was different from the other bootcamps. Maca explained the program and answered all of my questions, and the individual attention and mentorship really sold me on Avocademy.
Specific to Career Jumpstart, the hands-on experience this program provides is crucial for the job hunt. I was able to build out my portfolio with real client work and heavily build on what I learned in Foundations. I received in-depth mentor support throughout the job search that ultimately led to me landing a solid position as a UX Researcher & Designer. Additionally, Maca and the team are always finding ways to improve the course based on student feedback. I truly believe the expertise and mentorship Avocademy provides is unlike any other, and I have them to thank for my career change! -

Community: You are able to connect with peers and mentors through Slack. It is a very open and supportive community.
Job assistance: The course offers unlimited mentorship where you can go over mock interviews and portfolio presentations. It teaches you how to optimize your resume so you can land that first interview. The program sets achievable goals for you so that you apply to enough jobs per month and learn how to interview.

Avocademy is flexible and affordable! When I was deciding on what boot camp to enroll in - my main concerns were cost and time management. Though the cost is much less than other boot camps out there, they still give payment options which make it even more flexible. Since the course is 100% online and self-paced it is very easy to manage. Don't get it twisted - it can be challenging and you still have to put a lot of effort into it but the mentors are always there to guide you. The course content is very accurate in teaching you all the necessary information. Something that could improve is the way your work is reviewed - it can take a while to get it reviewed and the feedback can vary depending on the mentor. Other than that, Avocademy is GREAT! I took the Foundations course first and then enrolled in the Career Jumpstart to work with real clients and gain real-world experience.
A year ago I didn't know what I was doing with my life and now here I am 6 months later accepting a job offer and doubling my salary! -

I took Avocademy's UX/UI Foundations bootcamp and Career Jumpstart course. Overall, I am very happy I chose to go through Avocademy for my career change into UX Design. Both courses were affordable with a variety of payment options. Foundations was a very insightful learning experience that went in depth on UX/UI design. Coming out of it, I felt I learned a lot of material in a short amount of time. After foundations, I went into career jumpstart which helps translate everything I learned into real-world projects with real clients. Career jumpstart was super helpful in landing my first UX Design job. Even though it is a lot of work, it is also up to students to be as proactive and hands-on as they'd like. The course is helpful not only in gaining real-world experience but also in practicing time management for yourself. The Avocademy mentors are great to work with and very helpful with providing answers, advice, or practice. Even though you may run into some issues throughout the course with clients, feedback, timelines, etc. it is all real-world experience that helped me through my job search and interviewing process. -

I completed the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations course and then went on to do their Career Jumpstart course. I cannot express how valuable these courses were for my career progression. I came in knowing almost nothing about UX/UI Design, and through these courses was able to advance my knowledge and gain real world experience working on projects as a sole designer, a designer on a team of 6, and a lead designer with direct interactions with my client. These courses fully prepared me for work in this industry and helped me land a job two months into my job search! -

I recently completed the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations bootcamp course and loved it! The course was thoughtfully designed with a mix of videos articles/ reading. Each section built on the one previous to it and while we covered a ton of information, it never felt overwhelming or out of reach. The course is designed so that you finish with one complete portfolio project and there are mentors who are available to provide help and guidance along the way whenever needed. I really enjoyed by experience in the foundations course and am current enrolled in Avocademy's Career Jumpstart program! -

A BIG pro about this program is how affordable it is! Other bootcamps I was looking at were mostly around 16k ....the Foundations course is ~2k! And you are able to do a payment plan.
Another huge pro is that you have ~unlimited~ mentorship throughout the program. The mentors are a HUGE help and you can talk to them anytime on slack, can schedule calls with them about any questions you may have or can request for feedback on any of your work.
Another big pro is that it is self-paced which I LOVED as I was working a full time job and 2 part time jobs. They are very communicative and understanding if anything were to affect your time in the program. i’ve
The only con is that if you are a “classroom type learner”, this may not be for you. As I said, this is a self placed program and is intended for those who are able to be self motivated.
At the end of it all, I ended with a portfolio made, a very proud project I developed and all the foundational skills I needed to continue as a designer. -

Before I started I kept asking myself do I really want to change careers again? Do I want to learn something new and start all over? Once I started those doubts were quickly answered to a resounding YES I DO! Sure there have been days that I’ve cried cause I felt it was really hard, but the mentors and my fellow students are so encouraging and help you sort out your pain points. Which I found to be the most positive experience in education that I’ve ever received! The course is taught in a way that will help you retain all this new information. I felt a solid foundation was formed in the Foundations course, and now that I’m in career jumpstart it’s like it’s all is coming together. I find myself thriving in my projects! It’s the best feeling in the world! When I talked to former students before applying and they explained how their experience was top notch, they weren’t lying! Also I know it’s scary with all these major tech layoffs but remember the top companies do this every couple of years but that doesn’t mean other companies aren’t hiring. You don’t have to work at a FAANG company to be successful. Now the question is are you ready for a life changing career? -

Enjoyed my experience in the Foundations course at Avocademy. I wanted to make a career change and wasn't sure what to do until a close friend of mine sent me a TikTok video from Avocademy. I researched a lot before signing up for the bootcamp since I had a lot of uncertainty, anxiety, etc. But as soon as I started the bootcamp, I knew I had made the right choice. I went through the course and also was working full-time, and the flexibility of the bootcamp helped me out a lot. My favorite part is the unlimited mentorship you get as you go through and learn different aspects of UX/UI. Mentors were so helpful with feedback throughout the course and really just having someone to talk to as I continue to learn. I highly recommended Avocademy to anyone that's thinking about getting into the UX/UI field! -

I had been trying to find a way to break into the UX design field for a while and looking at different BootCamp programs. When I came across Avocademy I was sold by the price, the reviews, and the promise of unlimited mentorship. I wish I had made this choice even sooner. I love UX work and feel confident and encouraged after going through this program. My experience through UX/UI Foundations has been amazing and I was proud of the project I created during the course. I was looking for a career change and wanted to explore and compare UX/UI programs. I decided on Avocademy and couldn't be happier with my decision. You get access to some great mentors, the course content is easy to digest and you can learn at your own pace within the timeline they set for you. I really enjoyed the mentor feedback and interactions. I felt supported all the way through, even when I had some issues in the middle of the course, they were accommodating and set a new timeline for me to follow. The course does a great job setting up the foundations of UXUI. The community is incredible, lots of people from different backgrounds, all very willing to help one another. If you do take the course, make an effort to meet your fellow classmates and watch all the previous video guest presentations. The foundations course sets you up to understand the fundamentals, get a solid case study and prepare you for the Career Jumpstart if you are interested in building out your portfolio with real world case studies.
The only criticism which is also a positive, is they are updating the course when they see confusion or better ways of presenting material. Sometimes this leads to a miscommunication in the assignment and what you are being reviewed on. But overall, if you bring it to their attention, they are quick to fix it. At one point, towards the later sections, getting my work reviewed took several days, more than usual, so I was reading ahead and submitting my work link even when it wasn't ready, just to get in line for review.
Ultimately, I had a very positive experience and would recommend to others wanting to explore or understand UXUI. -

I honestly couldn't imagine a better way for getting into UX/UI Design. I was able to learn the fundamentals at my own pace, there was always a mentor available to help me, and even during the moments where I felt like I was struggling and didn't quite grasp the material, I still knew I would make it through the course because I could always get the help and feedback I needed. The experience I gained throughout the entire process was well worth the price and I encourage anyone who is remotely curious about Avocademy to jump in and go for it. -

Avocademy bootcamp was a great start into my UX/UI design journey, so thank you Maca! I loved the foundations course which lead to making your first project, and you can get as many mentor calls as needed to guide you in the program. There's many text reading lessons in this project but the information is important. The foundations course sets up skills that I transferred when I got into the Career Jumpstart course so you have a good general idea when you get to the real client projects aspect. I recommend reaching out to mentors as much as possible because they also are learning on the job and have good intel and experiences. If you need help, there's always someone to talk to. If you're looking to get into UX/UI from another field I would recommend this bootcamp as a start or if you have existing knowledge of UX/UI! :) -

Finding and enrolling in Avocademy UX/UI Foundations program has been a game changer for me. The program is well structured with hands-on activities that lead to your first UX design case study. What I loved the most was the access to design mentors who reviewed my work throughout the program. I was also able to schedule virtual sessions with them to clarify any information that was obscure. Although the review of my work was delayed sometimes, the overall experience, especially the cost, is second to none. Great program! -

The Avocademy UX/UI Foundations course laid out UX Design principles in a simple and easy to understand format. As someone who works fulltime and a mom of 2 young boys, I worked through the program at my own pace. The mentors were always insightful, and they have a team to check up on me time and time again to see if I needed any assistance. The Avocademy community of mentors, graduates, and peers is awesome! Being able to hear about graduates getting jobs continued to help me be motivated. I even met up with 2 peers in my area and so even though I did the class online, I did not feel alone.
To help with job assistance, however you need to enroll in their secondary program called Career Jumpstart (CJ) which I ended up doing right after the Foundations course. CJ gives you real world projects which is key to getting your portfolio noticed. I started in February 2022 and was still working through CJ when a company reached out to interview me which later turned into a job offer in late December! I followed their process and even before I could apply to a single job, I had an offer! The Foundations course along with the Career Jumpstart course were what I needed to make a career pivot without having to go deeper in debt. Highly recommend!! -

I am so glad for Avocademy! 🥑 I was eyeing their course for a long while and did all the research I could do to find a good fit and they definitely were :) I was fortunate enough to take their UX/UI foundations course in the summer of 2022. Due to my work schedule, I had to ask for an extension so I took 16 weeks rather than 8 weeks, which I am so grateful for. You still have to put in the hard work though! There is a lot to learn so keep a good pace when taking this program. If you think you're not understanding something or feel behind, the mentors have been a great help with their feedback and support. They are there to guide you to the right path and support you through your journey. If you're thinking about this course, I'd recommend going for it :) You'll be welcomed into a big community that wants to learn for its users and for themselves. Thank you, Avocademy! -

I joined Avocademy in March for UX/UI Foundations. I didn't have any prior experience in this field. There is a lot of information, which can be overwhelming for the first time. Modules are divided by the topic and activities. You need to upload your activity to get feedback, and then you can move on to the next chapter. They give students timelines which helped me a lot since I have a full-time job and I was a full-time student.
At the end of the boot camp, I designed my first project and created a portfolio.
Then I joined their Career Jump Start. I worked on real client projects with a different group of 5 people. Each project took about five weeks. Avocademy also helped review my portfolio and resume. They have great tools for networking, interviewing tips, and more. I'm currently applying for jobs. -

I really enjoyed building my first project with Avocademy's UX/UI Design Foundations. I like how straightforward their system is because we learn immediately by applying the lessons in our own project. Their system simplifies UX/UI which makes it easier to digest the information and be creative as well. My favorite part of this course were the mentors. Each mentor is qualified, they work in the industry already and talking to them allowed me to understand how UX/UI designers think. It is important to note that taking this course means having the initiative to schedule Zoom calls with mentors in order to get the best out of the program. Everything is basically laid out, as a student I had to trust the process and have the initiative to connect with mentors.
One of my biggest concerns before I joined Avocademy was whether or not it was legit because of the name. I can assure you 100% it is legit. I think its name actually reflects the program a lot, it is very personal and if you want to learn from a community of designers you can. The slack channel allows students to connect with each other too- students ask each other design questions, career questions and talk about their success stories which can be very motivating. -

Honestly, I was a little uncertain at first because I had no experience in the UX/UI field. I researched other bootcamps as well and they were well out of my budget. I read other reviews on Avocademy and heard nothing but good things. I decided to take the leap and boy am I stoked that I did! The course was broken down into digestible content and even though you have deadlines, you can complete the coursework on the times that work best for you. Also, the mentors were VERY helpful in answering all my questions as well as making sure I was on the right path to success. Definitely would recommend for other students looking to get there foot in the door of the UX/UI field. -

Wow where do I start, I remember coming to the end of my healthcare assignment, my contract nearing an end, and not sure what I wanted to do next. The agency I had gone through wanted to retain me and wanted me to become staff through the agency and the hospital I was doing my contract at wanted to hire me as permanent staff, because, yes I am just that good haha... But, after moving at the height of the pandemic to work in several hospitals in the city and leaving that job after almost two years to pursue contracts and make more money... I was exhausted, In January of 2022, the C shot back up and we were short staff, and overworked, and what I loved and adored so much started to feel like a burden. I remember telling my husband, that I wanted to do something different. Something where I could still be able to understand people and help people but, not work bedside. He told me to look into case (management) working or a remote position but, I wanted something completely different than what I had been doing for several years. Having a first degree in Criminal Justice before Nursing. I began to look into Cyber security, but after having a shady looking Bootcamp (thank God we didn't pay), I was a bit turned off from boot camps... Fast forward I had about three weeks left of my "final contract" because in my head that was it and it was time to take a leap of faith. My husband knew how I desired to create and how I thoroughly enjoyed helping, connecting, and relating to others. So, he texted me Avocademy after seeing it on TikTok. I looked the website over, saw some testimonies, and then reached out to see if it was a match and a good fit. Once my contract was coming to an end, as a family, my husband and I decided I wouldn't pick up any more contracts, become staff, or work and that I would spend the few months to learn and master foundations and put all my focus on learning UX/UI... I actually start working, towards the end of foundations, since I then understood the foundations of foundations (pun intended) and it was very do able. I had always been interested in being creative, designing things, and creating things. UX/UI isn't just that it's so much bigger then that... My minor in college for my first degree is in Fashion Merchandise, and I remember as a project with we had to design a fashion merchandise website, so when I knew that, that had some UX/UI in it, I knew it was something that I could do, but, I would honestly say I had NO PRIOR experience, my background was in the criminal justice system and healthcare and I was able to learn and be a success... The rest is still being written as we speak...

So honestly, with the hi-fi design, (alignment, button size, I won't tell you everything, register to find out more haha...) I struggled a little bit more than others and was granted help from Bridget (shout out to you) to help me get it together, that was the icing on the cake and since then I would say I now, think I am pretty good with my wireframes, ie... Thanks for not giving up on me!!
Help with portfolio building, like real help, feedback and tips to make it better and stand out...
They care and I am not just saying that like they are rooting for you to win.
Also if something comes up or something changes and you communicate with them, they are more than willing to work with you, in order to freeze your account so that you can come back to finish. I actually started a new job since I was nearing the end of foundations, and they worked with me to extend my deadline... Please communicate they want to see you complete your case study, add it to your portfolio (which they help you create for FREE for all those on a budget) and win.
I am currently in Career Jumpstart but, I was working full time right before finishing foundations and I still was able to finish, with dedicating a few hours every day. I work from home, so I have access to my personal monitor and laptop (you don't need a monitor, I actually only set my monitor up for career jumpstart, all of foundations I used my Mac, you don't need a Mac either, a regular laptop will do) but, most of the time I had to work on foundations after work just because, I am dealing with high sensitive information and HIPPA. The point I am trying to make is even if you work FT, you can still complete foundations in a decent time.
They do all they can do to foster the environment, it's just up to you.
They teach you all that you need to know, and as I mentioned they are constantly updating the foundation curriculum.
They encourage you to ask questions, watch videos, and read the curriculum.
They have so many resources and literally, they give you the foundation and lay it out on a platter.
Also, they have live series so although it is not a live course in retrospect, you still get live humans if you understand what I mean.
Cons:
The only con I would say that there is for me, was as I mentioned in the pros not having live classes, but, it's not necessarily a con because they do have speaker series that ARE live, unlimited mentorship, slack where you can communicate with mentors, students, and even the leaders. So, it isn't necessarily a con this is just a preference, not a necessity. I was still able to complete the course in foundations, and move on to Career Jumpstart... I used to be a healthcare worker and was completely burnt out and tired. I was no longer passionate about the field and knew I needed to make a change. I stumbled upon UX design and then found Avocademy. I was skeptical, but compared to the prices of other bootcamps, I decided to take the risk and begin making a career change. Taking the foundations course was the best decision I have made. It allowed me to learn the building blocks of UX/UI design. I really liked the course because while they have suggested deadlines, you can customize it to fit your schedule. I also appreciated the mentorship throughout the program. Avocademy really wants to see you succeed! -

I was laid off from my job in mortgage in August of 2022. I knew I needed to change my career path. I needed something that prioritized creativity and empathy. During my first lesson with Avocademy, I was reassured that this is what UX/UI was all about. Avocademy was accommodating and opened a whole new door for me. The Avocademy Design Foundations was a good experience. There isn't really an instructor to teach you from step to step. Essentially, you are teaching yourself and you learn by doing. Avocademy provides you with links and online resources to help you understand designing for UI/UX. They also provide unlimited mentorship meetings, but I never really booked any unless it was required. There were minimal openings at the time I was in the foundations class. The mentors that are helping you along the way are great people. The only thing that didn't really work out is when you are getting approval of your small steps in the big project. You may have 2-3 mentors commenting conflicting things and it takes longer for approval. Having more than one mentor looking at your things isn't bad because you get a lot feedback. But when you have to wait a week or more for approval, it sets you back. Fortunately, student success allowed me many extensions in order to get everything approved and just right. Compared to other bootcamps, this one is also the most affordable (foundations only). -

As a student, Avocademy is full of detailed lessons and activities explaining UX/UI best practices. The activities they assigned were directly paired with the lessons, allowing me to practice what I learned. After, mentors would review my activities to provide detailed feedback that identified areas for improvement. The lessons are not limited to design, the mentors also provide insight into UX/UI design real world. Overall, Avocademy has facilitated my journey as a UX/UI designer by providing support and insight of the industry. -

I always receive compliments about my stand-out portfolio and I give credit to the help of Avocademy. You really do get out quality designs with the work you put in. I also appreciate the community and mentorship so it didn't feel like I was doing it all on my own. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend Avocademy because the work really speaks for itself.
