I'm currently in Career Jumpstart after completing the UX/UI Foundations program and can easily attest that this has been a life changing experience for me. Not going to lie, I was hesitant when finding the ad for Avocademy through social media because I wasn't sure how credible this program was. However, what I wasn't hesitant about was getting out of a career I was miserable in before and wanting to explore a creative outlet of a job that I could see myself actually looking forward to having a future in. The mentors are amazing, the breakdown of the modules are extremely helpful, and because of all this I've been able to easily retain all the information I've learned so far in the program. Thank you Avocademy for giving me hope in my future career! -

I am a 40yr old, working, single parent who went back to school to retrain myself and stay competitive.
I have experience in media and marketing and I was attracted by the UXUI Designer career path.
The Avocademy UXUI Foundations program markets itself as a UXUI certification course that will allow you to "become a designer in 15wks".
I paid, outright, $1,800 for the program, 90% of which consisted of links to third-party free content on youtube and free articles/blogs on the internet. I completed the program and received a certificate. Which, I could have learned all of it independently by myself. It was a completely gut-less program where students were essentially paying to teach themselves the material while helping Avocademy create the program and work-out “bugs” as we went along. Upon "graduation" I was told that in order to be actually "career ready" I would need to complete the 6 month Avocademy Career Jumpstart program where I would work on "real world projects" that I could put on my portfolio in addition to my capstone project from my prior Foundations course. In addition and most important to me was the promise of career support and the guarantee of a job or the program would be free.
Prior to accessing the Jumpstart program students were required to either pay up front or sign an agreement to pay Avocademy $500 a month for 13months.
I signed paperwork to pay Avocademy after I completed the program because there was a job guarantee and I would be able to afford the payment in my new career.
The Career Jumpstart program was awful from onset. I did two (2) real world projects for Avocademy for free and received conflicting, subjective instruction from many different "mentors" and instructors. There were so many holes in the program and turnover with staff that the school had to admit that they were still working out kinks.
I never landed a job despite over a thousand applications. The job market is oversaturated and rapidly shrinking. However, Avocademy is saying that I still owe them $6,500 and are threatening to send me to a debt collector if I don't pay.
There is more but I don't know if I have the room for all the things that are wrong with this sham school.

I reached out to this student via email and via Slack several times with advice on how to best move forward with their coursework and job search. They were told over and over again to work on their portfolio, take advantage of mock interviews and complete all of the activities we have to help them succeed. They said initially that they didn't feel supported throughout the program so I tried to keep an eye on them but they just never followed any of our advice, never got the portfolio in good shape. They applied for 151 jobs according to our job tracking platform, all with materials that were not reviewed.
We cannot help you achieve your goals if you do not follow the program and complete the requirements as outlined. Again, we are sorry that the format of the program did not work for you. -

I’d love to speak on my journey. My timeline of starting Avocademy in January of 2022, starting Career Jumpstarts in January 2023 to landing THE job July of 2023 is surely a much different (longer) experience than most lol… I had to learn on my own time while life was busy happening.
Even though I took more time than I planned originally, I never quit, and Avocademy never quit on me!! So now I’m working in a career that values my unique background unlike any employer I’ve known. This was the big break I had been dreaming of!
As a neurodivergent artist being accustomed to Hollywood use and abuse…I don't know how I would have developed the business confidence or figured out how to get myself to 6 figs on my own.

I was a recent grad in May 2023. I loved how Avocademy was casual yet provided expert level knowledge. It didn’t feel too robotic in a sense where they treated me like a real person/student they’re mentoring. The mentors always gave me helpful feedback and were willing to ask all of my questions no matter how silly. There were some things that I wanted to offer as constructive criticism to Avocademy, but I noticed they already changed those things. I was a teacher and needed a change. I completed Avocademy's Foundations UX/UI Design course and then decided to continue with the Career Jumpstart program. The combination was an incredibly valuable experience. The Foundations course was a lot of information to study and it was foundational information. The Career Jumpstart course was key to helping me gain real-world experience and build an impressive portfolio. I was very prepared for my web project manager job, which includes design work and project management. I am able to bring the most current industry standards to my new role. In both courses, there was unlimited access to mentors and people who were encouraging and offered feedback. It was hard to learn all the information and to put in the hours but it was worth it. -

I recently attended Avocademy's UX/UI Foundations program and had a great experience. The mentors provided a wealth of knowledge and experience that was invaluable. They gave us a deep dive into the fundamentals of UX/UI design and provided hands-on exercises to apply the concepts. The mentors were engaging and available for any questions or concerns. Overall, I gained a lot of information and skills and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about UX/UI design. I also joined the Career Jumpstart program which is going extremely well, you get so much help and support! Avocademy was easy to follow. They give you all the tools, unlimited mentorship, and a community to help you through this. Although some mentors lacked experience, many were helpful and knew what they were talking about. YOU are responsible for your success in the course, they give you the tools, and it's up to you to use them and set the time to study independently. The pricing is incredible, and they are overall very flexible and want to help you. I appreciated how supported I felt through all the different aspects of the course. Changing industries and starting a new career is scary, and that was important to me to be part of a community that understood me. I successfully got a job as a UX Designer, and I couldn't have done it without Avocademy. -

Maca was very intentional in creating this program and has set up the foundations course in a way that makes you confident in your ability to transition into UX/UI. It was great to have mentors available to help throughout the process to answer any questions you have whether it be design related or to learn more about what the "day in the life of a UX/UI designer" looks like. Career Jumpstart gave me all of the tools I needed to successfully find my first UX job. They give you real client projects that you can showcase in your portfolio. These project allowed me to get a better idea of what working with clients is like, managing deliverables and deadlines, and also gain the experience of leading your team! I had a stressful experience because of poor directions primarily. some mentors give contradicting feedback or feedback is given in the wrong order. you are committed to resubmitting your assignments until you receive an approval instead of a grade which becomes very toxic. in some cases, I had more design knowledge and experience than some of the mentors. the course does not acknowledge grey areas in design rules and the modules need major updating. I am glad for the experience but unfortunately you get what you pay for. Also I was rejected for career jumpstart because I was assertive throughout the course. If you take the ux/ui foundations, be prepared to waste time re-doing things that you could have done well in the first couple of tries if the instructions were better. I gave a ton of user experience feedback and recommendations to avocademy and I have no doubt in my mind that some of my advice was heeded.

Hi Gloria! After reviewing your student profile, we discovered that a few of our mentors were met with aggressive and hostile behavior while working with you to improve your assignments. In order for us to provide a world-class experience, students must be open and receptive to receiving constructive feedback. While being assertive is definitely a great quality, the methods in which you assert yourself made it difficult for our mentors to teach you, which is ultimately why you were rejected from our Career Jumpstart program. While we understand that this was not the desired result, we hope that you can understand wanting to provide a safe space for our mentors to teach our students.
Because Foundations is a UX course for beginners, we want to make sure that the information is easily digestible. Though grey areas definitely exist within UX, our goal with Foundations is to teach the rules as they exist to help people understand them better. Our Career Jumpstart course dives deeper into the grey areas to help students take the rules that they learned in Foundations and “bend” them to create incredible experiences. -

With a lot of experiences in life, you get out what you put in. Career Jumpstart offers a lot of the resources you'll need to build a solid portfolio and to launch your job search. They hold daily calls, you can book mentor sessions easily, and the peer community is full of amazing people. That said, the program doesn't hand hold. One has to take accountability and initiative to make the best use out of all the resources CJ has to offer. Changing careers is not easy but Career Jumpstart and the people there kept me afloat all the way to my first job offer 8 months into the program!
One more great part of the experience, they do their research on what helps job seekers communicate their strengths/values best. They make tweaks to their curriculum that address the evolving job market as necessary. Last thought, the only red/yellow flag in my book is that they don't share the percentage of students who get UX jobs after [X] amount of months applying. -

I must say, this bootcamp has been an absolutely incredible experience for me. The UX Foundations course took me around four months to complete while juggling a full-time job. Career Jumpstart took two months to complete, which included working on real client projects and building my portfolio. It was an intense but immensely rewarding journey.
After a month and a half of job hunting, I've been fortunate enough to secure an amazing job opportunity with a Fortune company. I truly believe that Avocademy is the best bootcamp out there. I jumped into the Avocademy UX/UI Foundations Bootcamp with zero knowledge. I only knew it was "tech" related. So, I went in completely blind.
But, after going through the curriculum, it provided me with in-depth knowledge in "easy-to-digest" portions of lectures.
Mentors are always available to answer the student's questions. So, it actually makes it harder to not be able to understand all UX/UI basics.
The lectures and mentors will also prepare students for real-world situations while working as a UX/UI designer.
I highly recommend this boot camp to whoever is interested in this field or want to make a career change. -

For those who are curious about becoming a UX/UI designer, Avocademy is a great place to break into tech!! I just finished the Foundations course with Avocademy and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I made use of all the resources that the course offered and was able to step into UX. I'm currently taking the Career Jumpstart part of the program and working my way to gaining more experience and knowledge. In the foundations course, there's a lot of independent work but each task that you do is followed with mentor support. I didn't make use of it enough at first but after meeting with one mentor, I realized that I could be scheduling 1:1 meetings to recap or review, not just when I needed help. When I started to do this, I learn so many more things that I didn't even realize. The mentors, whether novice or experts, had so much to share; each meeting I learned new tips and tricks. The course itself is well organized and structured; they set it up so that anyone, from any place in their education journey, can start and learn. However, it is not easy, you do have to commit to it. To get the best, you have to put in the time and work but in turn, it rewards you well. -

Signing up for Avocademy was the best decision I've made in a really long time. You're presented with a self-paced module course, suitable to all different learning styles, and reminded each step of the way where to reach out if you need additional support. I took advantage of the unlimited mentorship, scheduling multiple calls weekly, and each mentor I can came in contact with was extremely kind, talented, and helpful. Avocademy is $2k. Their career program is $5-6k. Bottomline: Don't be fooled. Avo is a numbers game. They have more students than they can accommodate. They have revolving Mentors, so you never get the same one or personalize time to get clarification on assignments or their kickbacks. I defended myself as a student, that I wanted to learn & taught; not barked at or just told what to do. Changing careers, I wanted to make sure I knew my stuff. But Avo saw that as being a difficult student & not receiving mentor feedback professionally. So wanting to learn is negative. Got it. Also, they change their progress as they go, even after you already paid & signed up for what you thought you did. The career Jumpstart is not a sure thing students get into SO DON'T BE FOOLED! They surprise you with a design challenge as part of the career application & depending on how you do, they decide whether you're accepted or not. This is NOT how they promoted their school when I first signed up. Avocademy is new & they, like I said, change their rules & requirementas they please despite what was said in the beginning. Lastly, the student success? It depends. So long as you're not "asking for too much support" then they're there for you. I'm sorry, so student who want to learn material vs not understanding what they're doing plus asking for guidance & using the school's resources that a student pays for is "needs too much support." This is why Avo denied me for the career program; I wanted to learn "too much" & I one-star reviwed Mentors who refused to explain their reasons for kicking back my work, instead just told me to fix it. Period. Nonethless, I passed the design challenge. I actually paid a tutor to help bc half of the challenge wasn't taught in the program; they stated this but wanted to see how students do & make their decision from there. How's that fair? And why isn't it transparent from the beginning before someone pays? Avo is a numbers game. They talk a good talk. They have more students than they can handle so asking for guidance that's rightfully due to a student is NOT what they like. What the owner, Maca, said to me was "needs too much support" & "difficult to work with" bc I kept demanding to understand & learn what I was doing wrong & why I was fixing it. This is a career change for me. Why wouldn't a school who claims to care about their students, not want to empower their students? So beware. Avocademy is NOT what they seem to be. Hi Monique,
I understand that you are upset because you were denied admission into the Career Jumpstart program. Admission to the program is based on 3 things: your performance in the UX/UI Foundations program, completing the application to the Career Jumpstart Program, and your Design Challenge. This is outlined in the UX/UI Foundations program at the beginning, halfway through and at completion.
1. Regarding your performance in the UX/UI Foundations program, you were not penalized for asking questions or wanting to learn "too much". I privately shared with you 4-5 quotes from mentors that stated that you refused to apply the feedback given to you in the course.
2. Regarding your application to the Career Jumpstart Program, in the application itself you stated that it was a "pain in the a**". The admission team deemed this unprofessional.
3. Regarding your Design Challenge, we are very lenient in grading the challenge. In the lesson that contains the application, we link you to the resources (in the course) that explain the advanced concepts of components and autolayout. The design challenge addresses: alignment, consistency, and your understanding of components and autolayout. It also requires you to record a video explaining your work - as we like to gauge your ability to explain design decisions. In this video, you once again started by saying "I'd like to start by saying this challenge was a pain in the a**" which was also deemed unprofessional. With all that said, you did not pass the design challenge portion of the application. Lastly, paying someone to help you complete the design challenge is against application rules and stated in the application.
We understand your frustration but we have a commitment to all the students in the Career Jumpstart program to ensure that each student that is accepted can contribute equally to each project. -

Honestly, joining Avocademy's UX/UI Design foundation course and subsequently, the Career Jumpstart program was the best decision I made. When I was considering a career change to UX/UI Design I weighed all my options - BootCamp, degree program, or trying to be self-taught. I decided to join a Bootcamp, specifically Avocademy based on its great rate, unlimited mentorship, and length of the program. I wanted to learn the skills quickly and be ready to join the market as soon as possible. Through their Career Jumpstart program, I was able to work on real client projects to gain experience. I received help on my resume, portfolio, interview preps, etc. which made it possible for me to land my dream job! It took me several months to land a job, but UX/UI Design is a highly competitive field. The help from Avocademy helped me to stand out in my applications despite not having a design background. The courses are well-structured and easy to follow. -

This bootcamp has been the most straightforward way for me to understand UX and UI Design by far! I have tried to learn through the Google certification before this, but it lacked the mentorship that I got with Avocademy. Having constant feedback was a game-changer for helping me piece together the information I did not understand before. Plus everyone on the team is very understanding and beyond helpful with the feedback. They have a great number of valuable resources, such as the Master Classes. I would recommend anyone wanting to break into the UX field take this course immediately! Seriously, you will thank yourself later. -

The Avocademy UX/UI Foundations course was very informative and helpful in understanding the skills needed to become a UX/UI designer. The course is well-paced and contains great sources for students to learn more about the field. -

This foundations program gives you all the tools and information needed to succeed in ux! From the unlimited mentorship to the resources provided in the courses, this program is really well designed and put together. The mentors are extremely helpful and care about your needs/questions. Avocademy also takes students feedback seriously which I really appreciate. I’m so glad I decided to invest in this course! -

Throughout my experience doing UX foundations through Avocademy, I felt very supported by all of the mentors. I was expecting it to be like my online university courses I've taken by it was so much more helpful and supportive than any of my actual college courses were when they were online. Prior to this course I have 0 design experience. I feel as though this whole course was extremely eye-opening and I feel more prepared to continue my journey as a UX designer!
